Rate this book
A Practical, Penny-Wise Roadmap to Spellcasting

Discover the secrets to practicing magick on a budget with this empowering guide. Featuring more than forty exercises, Thrifty Witchery shows that intuition, wisdom, and intention are more important to your magick than expensive trinkets. With these three skills, you can turn everything you touch into a magickal tool.

Vincent Higginbotham and Martha Kirby Capo teach you how to see the world with a witch's eyes and mind. Learn how to safely forage for supplies, find specific items you know you need, and fabricate separate components into something new and full of magickal intention. You will speed up a spell with hot sauce, create sigils with liquid eyeliner, use eggshells for protection, and more. Most of all, this practical guide demonstrates that the greatest tool you will ever own is yourself. Includes a foreword by Jason Mankey, author of The Witches' Wheel of the Year

The practicality of this book can not be overstated.

While there is a lot of information in this book that isn't new, how it's presented is. The book is split into two sections the intangibles and the tangibles. Within each half, it is further divided into three other sections that all sort of build on each other. Under the intangibles, you have intuition, wisdom, and intention. Under tangibles, you have foraging, finding, and fabricating. Each section has interesting and workable empowerment exercises or practical practices.

Martha and Vincent put a lot of effort into making this book entertaining while keeping it simple and practical. I truly enjoyed reading about these topics from the point of view of two very thrifty witches.

My favorite practical practices come back to back in the form of Hot Sauce Speed Up the Spell and Liquid Eyeliner Sigils. I loved this and can't wait to try them for myself.

This book has been added to my recommend to newbies list. Often time new witches feel like they need all the things. All the tools, all the books, all the trappings no matter how much it is, this book is an excellent reminder that you don't. With a little intuition, wisdom, and intention you can forage, find, or fabricate what you need.

Thrifty Witchery: Magick for the Penny-Pinching Practitioner by Vincent Higginbotham and Martha Kirby Capo is a thoughtful and friendly guide to embracing the Craft without breaking the bank.

Thrifty Witchery is divided into two parts: the Intangibles and the Tangibles. The Intangibles cover self-empowerment and the "trifecta" of magick: intuition, wisdom, and intention. This section covers the basics of Witchcraft and then some in a thoughtful and well-organised manner.

The Tangibles covers practical tips, foraging, finding, and fabricating. Each chapter contains exercises such as grounding and breathing life into tools, instructions for making your divination tools and infused oils, and practices such as making black salt and eggshell protection. It's a clever and resourceful guide to sustainable and accessible magick.

Although Thrifty Witchery has two authors, it's seamlessly written with an even, gentle, and encouraging tone that focuses on the reader, not the writers.

Thrifty Witchery is a valuable addition to any Witch's bookshelf. It's excellent for beginners and a good resource for teachers of the Craft.
