It's time to open the Gateway again, and see what new adventures await. Tales from the Gateway is a companion novel to E. E. Holmes's World of the Gateway series.
E.E. Holmes grew up near Boston, Massachusetts, where she spent the majority of her childhood reading books. She read them almost constantly, and as a result, perfected the art of walking and reading at the same time, a skill she can still perform to this day with remarkably few instances of falling on her face. She also wrote many books and poems in blank books and on the backs of legal pads her father brought home from the office. They remain some of her finest work.
She soon learned to love literature of the dramatic persuasion, and earned a B.A. in theater from the College of the Holy Cross. After graduation, she set out to prove that her degree was, in fact, not useless, and worked as a principal actor in a summer Shakespeare festival and as a theater teacher, directing over thirty productions and numerous workshops for youth and high school students. She spent several years as the theater director at Wakefield High School where she also taught English literature and public speaking. It was in her classroom that she discovered the horrible truth: a disturbingly large percentage of high school students hate to read. This revelation devastated and bewildered her. She decided she wanted to do something about it, and thus she started work on her first young adult novel, Spirit Legacy: Book 1 of the Gateway Trilogy, which has gone on to win awards from Chanticleer Book Reviews and Media and The Independent Publisher Book Awards. She is also the author of three one act plays, one of which premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
E.E. Holmes lives in central Massachusetts with her husband, two children, and small, but surprisingly loud dog. When not writing, she enjoys watching unhealthy amounts of British television, procrastinating, and rediscovering her favorite books from her childhood all over again with her kids.
Brilliant collection Of stories about Jess,Hannah and co.
I recently finished the final book in the Gateway/Tracker series and decided to read this collection of short stories about the characters from the two series. These were a brilliant insight into what happened before and after the Gateway series. If you've wondered how Jess and Hannah mum met Carrick it's here, how Finn got on in Priosun and how Hannah survived New Beginnings mental institution. All these stories and more feature in this book and are in the words of Savvy "bloody good" . But don't just take my word for it.Read the whole collection of books from the start and then read this book. You won't be disappointed and you'll love their spirit guide Milo.
I love how this story linked everything together and makes you understand and know how everything comes together in the series. Thanks to the author for creating this companion novel.
I’ve read all the books in this series and have loved them all. They are characters that you keep thinking about after you close the book for the night, and after finishing it. I was thrilled at finding out about this companion book. Getting the backstories of some of my favorite characters was exciting and informative. It really helps to understand what was going on in their heads when the author couldn’t really add it to the story. Well done!
I loved the series but had to drop a star because there were some factual mistakes in this book. I have a pretty good memory and when I really like a story I get in to it and things stick to me. Karen's memory of her father's accident is very different from what was told in the first book. I contacted the author but never heard back. It's a shame when things like this happen. Otherwise it was fun to read a bit more about these characters.
I have really enjoyed wandering around in this whole wonderful world. I have read the other two parts of the series about the Ballard sisters. I found these companion stories added much more in the way of extra context. E.E. Holmes' writing is so engaging and well done - I hope she keeps adding to the different aspects of the world of the Durupinen.
Finishing this was bittersweet as I will miss the world of the Gateway even more that I missed the world of Harry Potter when the books finished. This book rounded out the much-loved characters of the Gateway world making them even more endearing. Well done to E.E. Homles for creating them and making them so alive.
It was exciting to get some back stories on friends I've come to love. I wish Milo's story had been longer, told how he died. I read his book but can't recall. Also, I felt cheated that Finn's story ended before he could see Jessie. If you followed this series, get this book also.
I really enjoyed this companion book to finish off this series of books. I loved the characters, situations and the outcomes of all the things happening in this series. The characters were well rounded with each other and the ups and downs of their lives made for really good reading. I would recommend this series to anyone needing something out of the ordinary. Great paranormal series!!!!
Fascinating collection of short stories written from the different characters’ perspectives
I loved this collection of short stories! They are all written in the very distinct voices of the main characters in the gateway series and provide more depth and details into character motivations and the overall storyline.
I must say this genre is not one I typically read but I surprisingly liked this short collection of stories of how multiple people came into their powers to speak to ghost and accepted them, struggled with them and learned how to manipulate them. I hope this is a build up to a good book series thT introduce Ll the char term. If so...bravo...good intro.
Absolutely loved this book. Each chapter is dedicated to one of the main characters of the series and for me rounded them off perfectly. I have really enjoyed these stories and will continue to follow this author.
Well, well, well! I just finished this book and it was great! Now I will read again Spirit Legacy! It's been awhile since I read it but finishing this book want me to read the series all over again! Well done E.E. Holmes you are one talented lady! Looking forward to your new series
I absolutely LOVED these books. Most times I’m reading a series with more than 3 books I get bored and lose interest. But not these books. I’m sad the story ended. Very much recommend the gateway books.
Read the compelling Gateway series in quick succession. This was a most enjoyable read giving an insight regarding some of the characters which makes me want to read the whole series again !!
This was a lot of fun to read. I enjoyed reading about Karen & Elizabeth, Milo, Hannah & Finn. I’d love to read about others too, like Catriona, Finvarra & Fiona. I love all of these books and hope to read more!
This book filled in some of the gaps that couldn’t be explained in the original books in both the Legacy and Trackers series’s of books. Each story was brilliant in its own way.
This was a great addition to the Gateway series. The short stories really lets the reader get to know secondary character better. The only one missing in my opinion is Elizabeth. Perhaps that could be something to look forward to in the future.
Totally addicted. Wonderful writing. I feel l know all the characters personally. Amazing.
I actually feel l can relate to these books. I would recommend these books to anyone who has a curious mind. They have opened up my world. Thank you EE Holmes.
It was bitter sweet to read a different perspective of my favorite characters. How I miss them so! These short stories are as good as the actual books!
Not so much... disappointed to be honest... I think a lot of what was in this book was already assumed or written within the pages of the previous books...
These vignette's are the back stories to the main stories of Jess & Hannah. They are fast reading and you could read one or 2 a night. I liked this book and look forward to more from E.E. Holmes.
This was a fun book to see certain events portrayed through the perspective of someone other than Jess. I would love to see it expanded to include Finvara, Flavia, Semus, Marion, -----------
It is really sad that this series of books is ending. I have really enjoyed reading them. I hope the author decides to continue the story of these great characters!
