Seriously what a book to kick my reading year off on!! Jeez, Louise! I never wanted the audiobook to end! I love Annie’s narration, and it’s no different here. The characters are alive!

The main focus of this book isn’t the Stokers or Sam, which I quite enjoyed but I also missed them. It was Deb, Linda, Marina, Dan, Grant and that thing called Tom. What a variety of characters and outcomes and so many oh my days moments. It was thrilling, exciting and shocking and I LOVED it!

I never want this series to end!! I am so hooked on this series. Edie’s writing is intoxicating, she will most definitely have you hooked on her characters and their lives. I can’t express how much happened in this book and not all of it is good!

This book is so aptly named because it was a vendetta and a half and I was rooting for two of the new characters to get away and redeem themselves elsewhere. Jaw dropped and shocked is all I can say. I was not expecting that!

So many lies and deceit and revelations and shocks and all those other words and it was just riveting. I stayed up late last night just listening to the audiobook just because I wanted to know what would happen next. Then as soon as I packed mini-me off to school back on it again 😂

Now, well now it’s over and I want more… Good thing I have the next book then 😜

This is one hell of a series and I really can’t wait to see what happens next. Is it wrong to wish one of the characters death? Asking for a friend…

This is the 3rd book in this series and while this could be read as a stand-alone book, I would suggest you read the series in order. There are several characters in this series that you are introduced to over the previous books, and, there are some ongoing storylines.

Sam Reynolds and Seb Stoker were rivals, but they both own businesses and they have gradually learnt to trust one another, so much so that marriage is on the cards. Sam has had a good upbringing and never fully realised how her father operated his business, so when she took over it was definitely an "in at the deep-end" move. Luckily she has had Seb there to help her and back her up, he along with his brothers own a casino. Both businesses work and there is now a problem with Seb, it leaves him moody and this unsettles Sam.

Now before you, you think this is just a story about Sam and Seb, there is far more to come. And boy does the author know how to turn the screws in this story, I found myself on the edge of my seat trying, and failing to work out how on earth the two storylines are going to add up. The second storyline is one that the author weaves brilliantly. It starts out tentative and then when things are in place the author then ramps up the tension and the danger.

With two storylines and also a few subplots, this is a fast-paced book and it suits this gangland thriller to a tee. Bringing in characters from the past and working with them as she has, the author has shown different sides to Sam and Seb. Sam is not quite the naive woman she was in the first book and Seb finds that he doesn't want to risk Sam at all.

I adored how the author twisted the characters and had them do their worst. There are some mentions of prostitution and drugs, and to be honest it is part of the genre that these feature as part of the plot. They are tackled well and they do show a seedy side to casinos, clubs and the gangland scene.

This was addictive and at times brutal and I loved it. I think this is due to the fact that I have read each of the books in this series and I have grown to like some of the shadier characters. I know that they have dodgy and dangerous dealings, but the author shows a family and loyal side to these characters.

There is an ending to this book that I liked, yep a bit of a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what she is in store for Sam and Seb in the next book.

Fabulous series, tense, danger-ridden, and with a strong gangland thriller feel. It is one I would definitely recommend.

I devoured the previous book in this series and I did the same with this one. The series is incredibly good. You just have to put everything aside as soon as you open a new instalment, because it’s unbelievably hard to put it away. It’s very, very addictive.

Gangland crime books are not for the fainthearted. The characters are often ruthless, sadistic and never show any mercy at all. There is a difference though between the good ones and the bad ones. Yes, you might seem surprised, but there really are good ones in this type of book. They have the same characteristics as the bad ones, but they also love their family with all their heart. Family is a big word. It includes everybody that stands by them whether they are blood related or not. They protect them no matter what and those who cross the line, trying to steal from or hurt someone from the tribe, is punished. Punished to the extent they will never be able to talk about it…

The bad ones love their family too. Well, they love especially what their family can do for them and not the other way around. They will help when it benefits them. If not , you can rot in hell for all they care.

What I also love about this author is the fact she keeps the action going throughout the whole book. There is never a lull. You know the feeling when something happens and there is a misunderstanding? The characters often don’t want to talk to each other because they are mad, hurt or both. That is very understandable. Here though the author does not stretch these situations endlessly. This sometimes can get on my nerves. Here the air is cleared within the matter of a few pages and we can move on towards the next event.

This makes me very happy and it heightens the pace of this action filled story.

This is one of those books I want to finish as soon as possible in order to find out what happens next, but at the same time I don’t want to end it at all because it’s so very good. 5 stars.

Thank you

This is the third book in an exciting new series and I would recommend reading books 1 and 2 first as there is a lot of history to get to grips with. Seb Stoker and Sam Reynold are now engaged and looking forward to moving into their first home together after the nightmare that saw the demise of John, Gary and Liam. Both their businesses, Sam’s Violet Orchid and the Stoker family’s Royal Peacock casinos and other less legal side-lines are flourishing, including the Stoker boys’ very lucrative gun running business. After discovering the identity of her birth mother Linda Matthews, Sam is concerned that the woman has not been seen for months and Linda’s two youngest children are being brought up by Sam’s adoptive mother Gloria. Sam’s birth father, Tom Bedworth, is still running the grotty Aurora club with its rigged tables and entourage of cheap scrubbers, and the reader knows that he is keeping Linda captive and drugged up. In London two more of Linda’s offspring, Marina and Grant who were abandoned at a young age, flee to Birmingham together with Marina’s boyfriend Dan after his card sharking earns him a vicious attack. They’ve got wind of their sister Sam’s wealth and want a share, although Marina is after more than just money. As they make a plan, Tom is also scheming to get his hands on Stoker money. As their paths collide, with such high stakes, just who will emerge victorious and who will lose everything?
Once again this is an excellent and gritty thriller full of action and scheming characters which gripped me from start to finish. Despite their sometimes less than palatable activities it was easy to find myself rooting for Sam and Seb and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this exciting series. 5*

This is the 3rd instalment in the Allegiance series and the story of Samantha Reynolds and Seb Stoker who were once bitter business adversaries now find themselves in a romantic relationship. Being well aware that their relationship won't be easily accepted by their peers, only a select few folk are in the know about them and they plan on keeping it that way for just a little while longer.

The clue of the premise is in the name #Vendetta, someone really has it in for Sam and Seb, they have their the pair in their sights and nothing less that complete humiliation and ruination will do for one character. As per with this type of book the couples hard earned money is a huge draw for more than one ne'er do well. There's some new enemies on the horizon and they have big plans for the couple. Obviously we catch up with some of the shadier characters from the earlier books, we find that some are still nursing grievance's with one or other of the dastardly duo, still out for some form of revenge.

Sam has been desperate to find her mum Linda again, she suddenly vanished one night and even with their massive combined resources they've been unable to find her, sadly we know where she is and what's happening to her. In another location someone sees a photograph of Linda from happier times with Sam and Seb and this sets off a whole other chain of events.

From the very beginning we are straight into the action and it doesn't stop till the very last page. We are taken through some of the seedier side of life drugs and prostitution not to mention violence. Some of the violence is stomach churning and although it's wrong under some circumstances is it really?

I came across this author Edie Baylis by pure chance on #kindleunlimited and since then I've read everything that she's written. So managing to get my hands on an ARC was a bonus. As with her previous works I devoured #Vendetta in jig time. Readers of Emmy Ellis, Kimberley Chambers and Jacqui Rose should enjoy her work.

Thank you to the author Edie Baylis, #Netgalley and #Boldwood Books for my copy of an ARC. All opinions are mine and mine alone

I have read books by this author before and consider her one of the best in the gritty, gangland crime/thriller genres. Although this is the third book in the Allegiance series, it is the first I have read but it reads great as a standalone.
This is wonderful, gritty, urban crime writing based in Birmingham. In this genre, expect bad language, graphic descriptions of pain and torture and the psychological pain of relationships and local gangland battles. If things like this offend you then choose another genre.
The characters grow on you and some you will learn to love and some you will be wanting them to be killed off. Nothing is off limits in this book and the author does not shy away from telling things like they are with emotion, feeling and passion.
This book is one of the best I have read in the genre as it is so descriptive and all the scenes link together really nice.
I need to read the first two books in the series but already looking forward to book four..
Many thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Edie Baylis for providing me with an advances review electronic copy of the book in return for an unbiased review.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

This is an excellent addition to an already good series. Edie Baylis certainly knows how to pull her readers in and keep them entertained and absorbed in her books. I found this to be a very well written, thrilling and engaging read. It pulled me in right from the start and held my attention throughout. I loved the addition of new characters who have their own hidden agendas - are they who they seem though? I thought the story flowed really well, I particularly like that it is told through the characters and from their perspectives. Some of the characters are vile, I absolutely loathed them and just want them to be found out and get their come uppance. I think the author portrays her characters perfectly, I either like them or hate them, there is no middle ground at all. I think this is a great book to read, it didn’t quite wow me as much as the previous book although I’d still recommend it. It is best if you read the series in order to get to know the characters and their histories. The ending sets the next book up nicely and I look forward to reading it,

Samantha Reynolds and Sebastian Stoker are no longer enemies they are the perfect power couple and totally in love.Their casino's and firms are working together and stronger than ever. But not every one is pleased about their perfect lives and want them to suffer badly.
Sam and Seb must trust each other completely but who else can they trust and how long can they remain strong before things come crashing down.
I was really excited to read the next installment in this great series and i wasn't dissapointed gripping and gritty throughout, the ending ends perfectly building up for the next installment.
Thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

The 3rd book in the Allegiance series, It would be a good idea to read the first two with Takeover being the 1st and Fallout the 2nd as there are a lot of characters and it would become confusing how they got to where they are in this book.

A great addition to the series, Vendetta lives up to the excellent storyline of the first two.

Samantha Reynolds and Seb Stoker after once being enemies are now in a solid relationship, both owning casinos and plenty of cash between them. But trouble is never far away and crime is just around the corner.

This is an exciting book with everything you would want from a crime book full of violence and thrills.

Thanx to netgalley and boldwood books for letting me review this book. This is one of my favourite series. Now that samantha reynold and seb stoker have joined forces in their personal lives too they are a force to be reckoned with.. Someone wants to bring sam down but who??? They want their revenge. An ultimate test of trust between sam and seb in each other is what is needed. Can they manage to overcome the obstacles in their way trying to bring them down. Highley recommend, great characters, exciting

Wow Edie has done it again. I absolutely love this series. Just when you think what more can possibly happen something else does. This is a gripping page turner of a read that you won’t want to put down. So much has happened to Sam since the first book. Edie I just hope that you don’t leave us hanging for too long until we find out what’s next in store for the Reynolds and the Stokers. If gangland is your genre then I highly recommend this series you won’t be disappointed.

As with all of Edie's books, this is a hard one to put down as it has you hooked and you just have to know what happens next. Brilliantly written, Edie proves yet again that her gritty, gangland books are up there with the best in the genre as they all, this one included, have you hooked from beginning to end and as always, I look forward to the next installment of this series.

Yet another FABULOUS read from Edie Bayliss, the third in the Allegiance series. A society filled with criminal activity, deceit, rivalry and blood-thirsty individuals out for revenge, this one isn't for the faint hearted!

I love that Bayliss introduces new characters which fit into the story so far just perfectly. It doesn't feel forced and ensures we are supplied with constant action, making for a definite page turner.

As usual, I eagerly await the next installment!

I recently discovered Edie's books and what fab reads they are too. I read the synopsis for 'Vendetta', which is the third book in the 'Allegiance Series', and it certainly sounded like the sort of book I have come to expect from Edie - a gritty, gripping and fast paced thriller. Well 'Vendetta' was certainly all that and so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Vendetta' but more about that in a bit.

It didn't take me long at all to get into 'Vendetta'. In fact the synopsis was enough to grab my attention and the story sealed the deal as it were. The book seemed to develop a hold over me and it was a hold that I wasn't willing to break. I initially picked the book up only intending to read a couple of chapters but I became so intrigued by the characters and so wrapped up in their lives that I was still sat there reading several chapters and an hour or so later. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. The pages were turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves and the page numbers became a blur. All too quickly I reached the end of 'Vendetta' and I had to say goodbye to the different characters. I found 'Vendetta' to be a fast paced, gritty, gripping and an at times scary read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

'Vendetta' is extremely well written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Edie Baylis. Edie has a writing style that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. I have to say that some of the characters scared the doo doo out of me and made me thankful that they were fictional characters and not real ones. Reading 'Vendetta' felt like being on a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. Just when you thought that you could take a minute to gather your thoughts and catch your breath then off the action would go again. I love the way in which Edie makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action - even if the criminal underworld scares the doo doo out of me.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Vendetta' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Edie's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.

Vendetta is the third book in the Allegiance series, and the second book that I’ve read by Edie Baylis.

I really enjoyed returning to the world of Samantha and Seb, and I found the build-up to the second half of the book, which is pretty non-stop, to be much easier going for me. I think, as with these things, not having read the first book made the second book a bit tough. But with this book, I already knew many of the characters, and it was far more enjoyable for that.

As ever, none of these characters really have any redeeming qualities, but I did find myself hoping some of the women would have a happy outcome. Whether they do or not, I won’t spoil it for other readers.

It’s always fascinating to read about places that you know. And these books, set in Birmingham in the 1990s resonate with me. I think I also enjoy knowing a little more about the landscape.

A fabulously entertaining read. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my review copy. Vendetta is released today, 1st September 2022, and I wish the author a happy publication day:)

This book did not disappoint! This is the 3rd in a series but can be a standalone book and I enjoyed it despite not having read anything by the author before.
The characters were real and gritty, there were lots of people in the book but they are all so different, it was easy to keep up with. I loved how you got bits of each of their stories throughout the book and the bigger picture began to develop leading to the finale. It was such a good read, trying to piece it all together.
The ending... somewhat of a cliffhanger but I liked it and want to read more!

Edie Bayliss has delivered another brilliantly written 3rd instalment.

A poor choice of years ago ignites a fire so powerful it chars every person attached to that decision.

A party that was meant to be a start of a new start turns ugly.

A life of crime, a life of bitterness, a life of jealously leads directly to the doors of the 2 biggest criminal families. Families who are uniting as one. A family who knows how to settle scores.

Drugs, guns, prostitution, sharking. This book has it all.

3.75 stars????

Probably should've read the first two books first but I guess I understood MOST of the context?? Probably.

Felt a bit slow for my tastes but eh, I don't care.

Didn't leave a lasting impression on me so anyway... That's it, I guess.

Edie Baylis is one of those authors who sucks you in from the first page and doesn't let go til the last. Vendetta is no different. A continuation of the story of Sam and Seb from the first two books. Excellent storyline kept me turning pages late into the night. Can't wait for the next instalment

Eddie Baylis has done it again with this brilliant book! This is the next part of the Sam Reynold and Seb Stoker story. Gritty and violent this is a real page turner. New characters are introduced and slot in well with the already established ones. If you like reading gangland books with strong characters and a meaty story line then this is a series and author for you. Not for the faint hearted though!
