The vagus nerve is the great communicator between most systems in your body, including the major organs of the brain, digestive system and heart. With the guidance of your seven chakras, the vagus nerve can be a psychological and spiritual powerhouse for healing. Trauma therapist C. J. Llewelyn shows you how to harness this energy to understand your past and heal your body of intense reactions that no longer serve you. This allows you access to the compassionate energy of your inner light. When you understand your wiring, you can identify the signals your nervous system sends and work toward a state of calm. This book reveals the psychological dimensions each of your chakras hold and explains how your body experiences the pain of trauma. Through more than twenty exercises and journal prompts, you can focus on healing your mind, body, and soul.
I’m not sure what the point of this book was, to be honest. The part about the vagus nerve in each chapter for each chakra read more like an add-on to fit the book title than explaining the relevance to the chakra itself.
Another thing, most of the exercises were of the journaling kind with prompts, which again wasn’t clear to me how different they were from just regular prompts anyone can look up in a self-therapy book, or what they contributed to heal the chakra in question or subdue the vagus nerve.
The author did a poor job of showing the connection between the chakras and the vagus nerve. She also prefaced or post faced all of her guidance with comments equivalent to "only do this under the treatment of a licensed therapist", which makes me wonder what the point of her book is if you shouldn't do anything without professional help.
Loved this book....so much information on trauma. As a yoga student and teacher/partner, I had some rudimentary Chakra knowledge, but Ms. Llewelyn gave me the deep dive in a way that was both scientific and spiritual. The vagus nerve is just something I recently started learning about. I have suffered with PTSD for years, and this is one of the most informative and encouraging books I've read on the subject of healing. Would recommend to anyone truly seeking healing!
Loved the idea of this book and it was as easy read despite the dense material. I wish there was more expansion at the tie in between the chakras and vagus nerve. I have a deep background in studying both, so I could thread the sections together with additional information but I think this would be a difficult book for someone brand new to either topic to begin with. Overall, good supplemental resource.
Excelente libro para aprender cómo se conectan los chakras con el nervio vago y diferente técnicas para enraizarnos y reducir el estrés del sistema nervioso.
What a fantastic book! In previous chakra books, I learned that chakras are just another term for nerve centers in your body, and those nerve centers impact your physical and spiritual health in certain ways. THIS book dives even deeper into the nervous system and how it stores experiences and trauma and how our chakras are affected accordingly. I learned so much about myself through this book. She goes over each chakra, how it's connected to the Vagus nerve (which is how our brain sends and receives signals in our body), details ways these chakras are impacted and how our body reacts physically to that, gives us an example with a story of one of her clients, and then gives us some exercises to help bring awareness and healing. I cried in trying some of these exercises and learning about myself and my responses. This book makes me want to try therapy so that I can be better. It's definitely a must-read for body to spirit connection. I am adding it to my resource library so I can refer back to the exercises and suggested reading list. Five out of five stars! I saw that she has another book coming out soon! I'll have to read that too!
The author believes that everyone’s internal experience is different. I think that is a kind way of looking at differing belief systems. This book has a lot of warm counseling talk which was unexpected but helpful. The discussion on the vagus nerve/chakras connection was a lot more grounded than my previous perception believe it would be. There are some experiences that the author has had that I find hard to believe and I don’t relate to a lot of her religious thinking. But there is enough helpful material in here to outweigh the things that I cannot related to.
This book was incredible! I am so entranced by the vagus nerve. It's remarkable that this nerve is related to so many emotions in our body. With simple exercises and reflections we can promote health and well-being by relaxing this nerve. I highly recommend this book to everyone!
CJ Llewelyn gives a great introduction to chakras and the vagus nerve. Llewelyn expands on how our mind and body are impacted by trauma. This book is a great resource for clinicians who are looking for additional resources to incorporate into their practice.
Practical, well structured, and easy to understand. Plus, great to see a work that builds bridges between these two very helpful approaches to healing pain and trauma in the body - polyvagal theory and the chakra system. The polyvagal part could at times have been deepened, though.
You read this book once and then you go back to understand the energy and your nervous system. This is a good book to understand your body and especially your nervous. A good way to heal yourself.
This will explain how your internal explains your external through science, psychology, and spirituality. Absolutely phenomenal a must read before 25. And if your beyond 25 READ this thang asap
