Turn Your Deck into a Trusty Toolkit with Daily Activities and Intuitive Wisdom
The Card of the Day is the most common practice suggested to new tarot readers. Yet, even with a clear theoretical understanding of a card, beginners like you sometimes struggle to nail down how they can apply it to their personal life. Serving as both a companion and reference, this handy guide offers a variety of tools to help you build familiarity with all seventy-eight cards and make the most of their messages.
Your Tarot Toolkit presents fast and effective ways to work with your daily draw. Each card has its own entry that includes inspiring affirmations, reflection questions, and activities to accompany its message. These activities help hammer home the core energy of the associated card, and they can be as simple or in-depth as you choose. Ru-Lee Story makes it easy to begin a daily tarot practice and raise your confidence one card at a time.
This is an informative and wonderfully written guide to Tarot. This book breaks each card down by giving a general overview of the card, and then providing affirmations, reflections and activities. The activities within this book are perfect because a lot of them are writing based or simple activities that are easier to fit into everyday life.
I really love how simply Ru-Lee explained each card. They easily breaks down what a card means without focusing solely on symbolism on the card. That means that you can use this guidebook for any tarot deck. Many tarot books focus solely on the Rider Waite decks and the symbols frequent on those decks, which quickly becomes a problem if you don’t want to use those decks. As someone who has many decks that don’t have the normal RW symbolism this book has been very helpful.
Ru-Lee also provides a lot of pop culture references to help you correspond a card with a certain type of person. I found this really helpful when trying to understand what the card was telling me because I could visualize an actual character with these traits. Overall, this was a fantastic and very helpful guide book. I highly recommend it for beginners and those trying to start a daily practice.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book.
The author uses tarot decks for meditation and mindfulness more than for witchcraft purposes. Also, they don't use reversals when reading tarot so it does make things easier.
The focus of the book is on interpreting daily card pulls. While gendered names such as The Emperess and Emperor are used, the author writs that those names are used so the audience can follow along but the summaries utilize they/them pronouns. I loved this approach since I don't really see The Emperess as strictly female/feminine/woman or any other gendered card. The court cards are presented differently since they're treated differently during readings. In these cases, the author uses fictional characters to demonstrate meaning.
The card pages have a summary, affirmations (am, can, will), reflection questions, and two actions you can do with varying energy levels given. The information given is some of the best reflection work I've read. All the others seem to be too abstract for me while this is pretty grounded.
There are works cited and further reading lists at the end.
Overall, this is definitely a reference book. I think it would be best used in conjunction with the guidebook provided with the tarot deck.

Immediately on the first page of this book, I knew I was going to love it. Right off the bat the author mentions non-binary, and also openly spoke about secular and spiritual readers, both of which being valid. We stan.
This book was certainly a fantastic read, and if you're new to tarot, or even if you're more versed, you could get a lot out of it. The focus of the book was primarily on one card readings, but you can certainly take the knowledge you gain here and expand it as you grow in your tarot journey.
The author has such a laid back attitude, open mind, and calming approach to the cards. I appreciate that they read in a similar manner that I do, where they view each card as having positive and negative attributes, yes, even the Tower or the 10 of Cups. We both also don't read reversals for the same reason, so that was a fun way to connect more with the author and the book. (Of course the author mentions reading reversals is totally valid! They just wanted to explain their perspective.)
I love how everything is laid out. Each card comes with: an explanation with examples to really get the meaning across (the courts have characters to relate them to), three affirmations (am, can, will), reflection/journal questions, and two activities you can do thematically related to the card.
The activities and reflection questions offer a wide range of options and ideas of how to approach them, making them possible for most any reader. I really appreciated seeing the extra touches in making the book more accessible to a wider audience. (And not only that, but moods too! If you're having a tough day and can't do the full activity, the author provides ideas for how to do just a little, whatever you have the energy for. It works in a multitude of ways!)
"If the Tower is crumbling, it may mean the structure was decaying and needed to come down anyway."
I love that this book doubles as a self-help book as well, definitely lives up to the 'toolkit' name, giving you plenty of ideas to help yourself better your life, no matter your circumstances. The little touches of the author giving examples about their life as well I think added a lot of depth too. (Also made things more relatable, and as someone with similar life experiences, it meant a lot to read!) Honestly, you don't even need a deck to get started with this book. All these activities and reflection questions could be done without one. So if you haven't yet had the chance to get a deck, this book is still totally useable!
I'm definitely very glad I was able to read this. No one book or resource is the end-all-be-all for tarot (or anything, imo), but this one isn't a bad place to start! Plus the author does leave suggestions for further reading, which was also great to see. If you're a fan of tarot, I say check this one out!

4.75 Definitely, this is a book that covers a lot of ground for tarot readers. This book is very user friendly, even beginners would feel comfortable with this. (This isn't a primer book, this is more to help you get more comfortable with each card). The intro and conclusions are very short and rest is just card related activities.
And by activities it's literally activities, so each card as a brief intro into it. 3 Affirmations for each card, which whether you're down with affirmations or not they are good reminders for the card's core meaning. Up next, reflections questions that if you're a journaler or simply want to get more familiar with a certain card this is a good way to go. Lastly, are actual activities that they suggest doing from changing up your music listening genre to having an important chat with someone. These activities are rated 1-5 on effort level required to do them, so you can pick how much time and effort you have to put into them.
Yes I love the book and think it's a great handy tool for any practicer of tarot that opens doors to each level of it. The book can be simple so more advanced tarot practicers will not get out as much as the beginner/intermediate tarot practicers but still will challenge them in their private readings.
(I bought this as a Kindle copy if you're wanting it for a day to day user I would strongly suggestion getting a hard copy for it)
Spectacular book! I am a tarot novice, and I have been researching many, many tarot books. This one is unique because it provides specific steps to follow to learn the cards WHILE applying them in daily life. The author provided a multi-page spread for each card. The card overview is written in conversational tone that feels like a good friend is sharing their wisdom. Following the overview, the author provides several sections: Affirmations, Reflections, and Actions. I often struggle with drawing a card, seeing the imagery, then knowing what the heck to do about it! Thankfully, this book shares a variety of helpful ideas so I can immediately take advantage of the card's guidance and apply it to my own life. This book is a keeper that I'll certainly keep handy for years to come.
Designed for a 'daily draw', Your Tarot Toolkit works to help you understand the meaning of the standard tarot deck, while offering activities for each. For every card you are given affirmations, meditation/writing prompts, as well as things you can try like 'start a mood board' or 'cook a new meal'. My favorite thing is that each activity also lists its difficulty in terms of time and resources needed.
Whether you are looking to learn tarot or revitalize your practice, this is the book for you! Straightforward, easy to navigate- perfect for anyone who wants to learn without 'memorizing'.

There are so many books offering to help read tarot cards. Sometimes they are so overwhelming that people give up. This book is more focused on a single card draw that allows you to focus on each of the cards individually. This is a good approach for those new to tarot and builds on a solid foundation before moving on to multi card spreads and bringing a broader reading together.
If you are focused on learning the tarot, this is a good book to start with. You'll be glad that you started off with a single card focus and mastered it before moving un. Blessing to you as you start, or building on, your journey.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is an okay book if you want to get some advice based on a tarot card that you pick or choose. It offers suggestions for different ways of self-care or how to apply the card meaning in our daily lives. It also have some basic info about the cards with regard to their respective meanings. Other than that, there's nothing new in here and it is too long-winded for what it is.
Quick impressions: Overall, this is a basic and concise Tarot book to work with the cards individually. I can recommend it mainly for beginners and for mid-range Tarot practitioners. It's easy to read and very accessible. It keeps jargon and esoterica to a minimum, so it's welcoming rather than intimidating. I'd recommend it for libraries that collect pagan and/or esoteric materials, especially if they have patrons interested in Tarot. In the end, I really like this one.
(A full detailed review with reading notes will be on my blog soon.)
I really liked the way this author laid out the subject matter in the book. The introduction was deep enough to engage advanced readers, but had enough basic information to help the beginners. I also loved all the affirmations, actions and reflections listed out for each card in the deck; not just the Major Arcana. This author has inspired me to pick up my cards again and start keeping a card reading journal. What more can you ask of a book? I want to thank the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for giving me an e-copy of this book, in return for an honest review.
This one was very nice, if you're trying to be more insightful with your tarot, this book it's amazing for that.
If you're of the practice of taking a card for the day so you can get insight in your day, this has affirmations, reflections and thing you can do in your day depending on the card you got that day.
You will encounter major and minor arcana in this one so it's super complete, totally recommended if you're striving towards a little more spiritual or order in your practice.
Ru-Lee Story does a fantastic job in presenting the meaning of each card in both, the Major Arcana Cards. I love the fact that the author also provides affirmations, ideas for reflection, and in some instances suggesting individuals should reach reach out to other individuals who are going through similar situations.
I love this book, and will definitely recommend it for reference.
I COULD NOT EVEN GET PAST THE INTRODUCTION, DNF / Do not recommended. Lack of knowledge and use of this tool without the proper teaching then wanting to pass along it in a very unknowlegable fashion but flash.
You will gain nothing from this tarot book other than to be cultish with the new age tarot community
Again I’m a 6th Generation reading, Aunts and mother grandmother etc and 30+ Years experience
I have been working to expand my Tarot knowledge recently and was very excited when I saw this available & had to request it. I really enjoyed how unique this book was and how it stood out from the rest! This is an excellent guide to help someone understand Tarot better!
