I wanted to read this book because I adored Dan May's art since the moment I saw it!

The writing by Cavendish, however, left me feeling indifferent. There were 4 or 5 pages that stood out and made me really contemplate. Most of it felt very generic and wishy-washy. Took away from the beautiful artwork. It earned the 3 stars from the art and lost two for the writing.

I love how each picture/page of writing flows to the next, but also I feel you could read every page repeatedly and really meditate on it independently to the rest.
It is about loneliness, but never makes it seem bad, or makes you feel guilty for being or wanting to be alone- which is good! Because it's not a bad thing!
It's truly introspective and I can see how I would read this at different points in my life and get new things each time. It would also be useful to explain things to a child, if they are feeling lonely, or afraid of independence/being alone, it is something you could sit down with them and show them how it can be positive and not something to be scared of. With someone there to talk to them about it.
It's a thoughtful and compassionate book and I am very happy to add it to my library.
