Welcome to the Fillery Hotel, home to the Bells and Balls Convention, and last stop for a runaway fairy prince and the grumpy demon hunter who loves him...

Dick Slumber is a growly demon hunter with a three-legged cat he doesn’t want and a secret he must keep at all costs. But Dick has a problem—he’s not who he says he is, and he’s running out of ways to hide it.

Gin Lark is a feisty fairy prince whose job is to help his sister keep demons out of the human realm. But Gin has a problem—he doesn’t possess an ounce of magic, and somebody wants him dead.

When Gin goes into hiding as a hotel housekeeper, and Dick is hired to find him, they discover themselves in the center of a cursed hotel, a resurrected pinball convention with its own secrets, and a tear in the sky called the rift, which is about to let loose a horde of demons.

Falling in love should be the last thing on Dick and Gin’s to-do list—unless love is the only thing that can save them.

Sorcery’s Kiss is book one of an exciting new MM paranormal fantasy series called Demon Tales and Fairy Games, where demons, fairies, and trolls live with unsuspecting humans. Sometimes light, sometimes dark, always sweet, magical, and romantic. Happily ever after guaranteed. Each book is linked but tells a complete story. No cheating, no unkindness.

Uh ok then...

This might have been the most confusing story I have read in a long time. I really have no idea of what was happening.

The writing was different, very different.

So we have Dick, a demon and Gin, a fairy prince. But things are not what they seem, I think. This story was all over the place. The best thing was the three legged cat.

Bad things happen, we find out the truth of who is who, and Dick gets woken up by true loves kiss.

The premise of this story easily caught my attention, I’m definitely a sucker for anything with demons and fairies. While the synopsis pulled me in, the story itself had more complications than I expected; there was a lot of people not being what they seemed, and even with the main characters of Gin and Dick it was hard to tell what was really going on with them. This was a continuing theme throughout the book, so be prepared for a long wait until you find out everyone’s true purpose and which side they’re on.

I really liked both Dick and Gin, but I will admit that it wasn’t until near the end that I started to feel their emotional connection. I’m attributing that to the secrets everyone was keeping, and all the unknowns while the story unfurled. It did make it harder for me to become invested in them as a couple, but I was absolutely invested in them as their individual characters.

For me, the story didn’t feel like it flowed smoothly, likely due to the convoluted storyline and so many unknowns among the characters. Everything gets there in the end, just that ride felt a bit bumpy and drawn out to me. There are some secondary characters who helped keep things interesting though (in particular Gin’s boss Misha and a co-worker, Tev, along with Dick’s co-worker Zolly).

If you’re a fan of M/M paranormal romance with a more complicated plot, and don’t mind waiting until the very end to have everything revealed, Sorcery’s Kiss is a story you’ll want on your TBR list. This story is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content (and a very big YES to the sexual chemistry between Dick and Gin!).

Pinball, fun to play not read about. I dunno, I liked it but the characters had too many chips on their shoulders. Wasn't surprised about the reveal. Curious about the cat and the maintenance guy. May read that one. Zolly was out there. Didn't expect him to be Sol. Kinda awkward. It was one of those ones I didn't mind stopping and starting.

I think this was a really interesting concept, but the text needs a lot more editing. I really liked that the story was third person, over the shoulder of one character per chapter and it was clear whose POV we were following, but in the second half the POV seemed to fluctuate even within a chapter. Often I would get jarred out of the story, like "wait, was that Gin who just reacted or...?"

Additionally, I think the two lead characters' voices weren't distinct enough sometimes. At the beginning they were very different, but at the same time one character became more jaded, tired and grumpy, gradually another became more gentle, thoughtful and caring -- through all the chaos leading up to the climax it wasn't obvious enough who was saying to leave out the names. Some of action was just like a stack of cards tossed onto a table -- The narration described rooms in detail, but without giving a clear image of many layouts (e.g. the hallway to the elevator in relation to the front desk and garage), which made tracking who was where when the action started into a major effort.

I stuck with this until the end because (1) I liked all the characters, (2) the environments were interesting and (3) I expected all the mysterious threads to tie together into a big payoff at the end.

The mystery part is fun and it did pay off, but it felt like a lot of work to figure out how we got to the ending. It was enough work that it broke the fourth wall for me a lot! If this author teamed up with an editor to iron out some of those narration and dialogue issues, I'd try another novel by them.

3.5-4 stars.

I have kind of held off writing this for a couple of days to get it straight in my head, but I still haven't. I came out of this so confused and not really sure what's going on. I get that there's demons, and fae, and half-demons and something about the veil but I'm a little lost with the whole thing, I'm afraid to say.

I wanted to love it, I was attracted by the premise, usually anything demon/fae/paranormal and I'm there but this was just more than a little convoluted and the story seemed to jump all over the place in the start. I was pretty sure Dick and Gin were my primary characters but at the start I wasn't even sure of that. I did like both though, and how they were both 'failures' at being a demon and fairy respectively.

I didn't really understand why Gin ran away, surely if his family has money he'd be more protected in his house with all the security than on the streets? That said I liked how independent he turned out to be, and I liked how Dick was protective without being overbearing.

Once the story started to weave together - and this does take quire some time - I got into it a little more. There were just so many elements though, and honestly the best thing is the cat.

Overall an enjoyable, if more than slightly confusing, read.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Dick Slumber is a demon hunter with a three-legged cat and a problem. He is not who he projects and time is running out on keeping that going. Gin Lark is a fairy prince with a powerful sister and a problem. He has no magic and someone is trying to kill him. Gin goes into hiding as a housekeeper at the Fillery Hotel while Dick is hired to find him. Find him he does but there is a problem. The hotel is hosting not only the Bells and Balls Convention but also something evil. As the convention begins, an ancient pinball machine may be the key. In addition, there is a rift ready to open and admit more demons. Falling in love should not be on the agenda.

Sorcery’s Kiss turned out to be so much more than originally thought. There was some laughter as these two find themselves in each other’s path and more than their share of danger. Dick Slumber had no clue what he could do and neither did Gin. Both were in for a few surprises. Dick wanted to keep Gin safe while Gin wanted to go and do what he could to help out. There was lots of action and surprise twists that kept the reading fun and intense. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

A Joyfully Jay review.

2.75 stars

This story is the first in the Demon Tales and Fairy Games series and … it’s all over the place. Dick is a demon who isn’t like other demons, and who’s very fond of describing himself. He’s also the exposition source for the story, info-dumping history lessons, and detailing the differences between fairies, demons, trolls, and humans. And for all that he’s supposed to be in charge of finding the missing prince, Dick doesn’t do much looking. He picks up Gin at a grocery store — following the pretty young man because he wants to take him home and to bed, no conversation needed — without knowing or caring who Gin is beyond available. Likewise, Gin, having seen Dick’s profile in shadow for a fraction of a second, already has an ache in his soul that only his mystery man can fill, but after the pleasant time they spend together in Dick’s bed, the sight of the hunter’s gun makes him all frightened and so he runs off rather than staying to talk.

This book had me at the edge of seat from beginning to end, never knowing where it will take me next. The twists and turns kept me hooked and in suspense. We get POVs from several characters, including the cat (which I loved) but mostly from both MCs. The world building and all the characters were intriguing and well developed. There were some creepy moments but they fit in perfectly with the story. The mysteries were all very fascinating and woven perfectly into the story without overwhelming the reader.
Gin might be a fairy with no magic but he was no push over. He made sure he was an equal partner. Dick was a grumpy demon and wanted things done his way. But he loved Gin's feistiness and respected his decisions, even if it frustrated Dick and wanted to tie Gin up to keep him safe, lol. They were funny and super hot together.
I can't wait to read more about this fascinating world and its characters.

What can I say about this... The story itself wasn't bad, I liked the idea of it. It's just the way it was wrote was weird. In the beinging of the book was understandable, parts in the middle started getting confusing in places then the closer I got to the end the more confused I got.... I don't think it was the story itself, I think it was more along the lines of how it was wrote out, at times you didn't know for sure who was talking or in a since what was going on... This is not to say it was a bad story, like I said I liked the idea of it, just wish it was wrote a bit better in parts to make it understandable.

This is just to let you know how the book is to throu who want to read it.. it's wroth the read once you get used to who it is wrote... At least this is my thought and feels about this book.

This is a paranormal fantasy with a great premise and a compelling romance. It took until near the end of the book for all the plot pieces to fall into place for me, and while this was occasionally frustrating in the process of reading, in retrospect I think it really works for the world and the vibe the author is building here— there’s some light, some humor, some darkness, some complications, and overall it makes for a complex and often vibrant tapestry. Gin and Dick have plenty of layers (and secrets) as well as some strong chemistry. There are some really intriguing supporting characters too, and overall, I found this to be an enjoyable read.

Hmmm I’m not sure what to write to review this book, I tried so hard to understand what was going on and I’m still not sure that I understand it all. I received this as a ARC from GRR for my honest review.
I was drawn by the blurb and the storylines ideas were intriguing, but things quickly became convoluted, confusing and the flow of the story was jumpy which pulled me out of the story, so going back and re-reading bits to see if I got everything, not that it always worked.
I really like the characters and I was rooting for Gin and Dick. So overall if you want a book that you need to concentrate on and think about then this is a good one, but if you want an easy to read book that take no brainpower then I personally would have second thoughts.

I enjoyed reading this one about Dick the lousy Demon and Gin the epic failure of magic Fairy! These two made for a funny pair and I got kind of attached to them and lost in all their thoughts and antics! Nice fantasy world building and some darkness to balance out the fun! We get the POV of other characters as well like Misha and Tev the just a pharmacist! I read an arc and the book does jump about quite a bit between time and all the characters, so you have to pay attention! But this one will keep you in suspense of all the secrets and mysteries! Interest twist to the ending! looking forward to the next installment!

I love paranormal books and that what call my attention, demons and fairies, Yes please! The story was a little complicated, I have a hard time understanding what’s going on with Gin and Dick and the secondary characters. You have to wait to really find out whats happening.

I really liked both Dick and Gin, buuuuut I didn’t feel a great connection and chemistry between them, I’m finished the story just to find out what the heck was going on and how they were going to get their HEA. So many secrets and mystery surrounding the hotel, their identities and the competition. At the end I was glad to finish this book.

This book really threw me for a loop. I haven't read anything in a while that had me second guessing and curious up until the very end. There were so many twists and turns that I almost feel like I need to read it again to really appreciate it.

This is the first thing I've read by the author, and I actually really enjoyed their writing style. It was unique and super enjoyable. Dick and Gin are pretty amazing together. And the spice was top notch. If you're in for a good paranormal type romance that will keep you going until the very end to figure out the story, I'd say this book is for you!

This book kept me guessing. No one is who they say they are, some by design and others not. Overall, it has a great story and the world building is cool. I just had a little trouble following it in places. I am still a little confused by some of it but I did enjoy the story. The characters kept me going though and I was rooting for both of our MCs. Dick, Gin, and especially the Cat kept me reading through to the end. That hotel is something else. It seems to be alive and parts of it are straight out of your worst nightmares.

I love Kayleigh Sky's books, but they can be a little complicated, so I recommend only reading when you can really focus on the story and characters. This story is dark sometimes, and very humorous at others, so it's a good mix. None of the characters are quite what they seem, and I loved all the twists and turns in the story. I loved Gin and Dick (and Dick's cat), and the multiple POVs were fun and engaging. This is a great first book, and I look forward to more in the series.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

This is a paranormal fantasy with a great world building and a compelling romance.
I was kept guessing on quite a bit of the action until the very end.
There is some light, humor, darkness, complications, and overall it makes for a complex and often colorful world.
Gin and Dick both are keeping secrets. In order to work together they must trust in each other. Feelings quickly become a part of their bond.
I found this to be a very enjoyable paranormal romance.

This felt like a jigsaw puzzle involving paranormal beings in the human world for much of the story and I enjoyed it enormously when I stopped treating it like a mystery I needed to solve and just went along for the ride. Every character here seems to have a secret of some kind and there are clearly many more things we're going to learn about how this world works but I'm definitely up for that. There are uses of the protector and grumpy tropes that I found entertaining.

This was my first book from this author and it was interesting. The world-building is superb and it has an interesting writing style that I have never seen before. It was slow going at the beginning and a tad confusing but it was really interesting and the twist and turns were amazing.

The premise of the story is what grabbed my attention but I stayed because of Gin and Dick. I really want to know more about this world and probably read some of her backlist, so good!

Fascinating paranormal fantasy with lots of world-building and a delightful romance. It has great characters, a complex plot that is slow to resolve, humor and steam to make you smile. Dick and Gin have lots of twists and turns in their story and you will want to be along for their journey.

This is book one of the Demon Tales and Fairy Games series. I am looking forward to the next book!

So, this is one if the books which is really, REALLY, difficult for me to review.

Why?
Because I liked the characters and the story and nevertheless, I am not sure I enjoyed it.

The writing is very different and I had real troubles getting into it and connecting.

I think everyone who thinks the plots sounds interesting, should try reading it to see if it's for them, because as I said, the storybis interesting.

I'm so in love with this book and the series. It was hilarious mixed in with some delicious darkness. I really enjoyed all the main characters: Gin and Dick and Misha and Tev. The characterizations were so spot on and intriguing. The plot was itself was really interesting with a surprise twist that I hadn't expected.

So many secrets and hidden truths! I really enjoyed this book! Twists and turns; a romance and mystery is one book! Told from multiple points of view, steamy MM romance with excellent world building! There were a few times in the book I thought it was a bit hard to follow but overall an excellent read! I received this book from gay romance reviews and these are my honest opinions!

Sorcery's Kiss is a lot of fun with wacky characters you can't help but like and a 3-legged cat that sort of looks after them all. There's a lot going on here and nothing is what it seems, so not wanting to risk spoiling the plot I'll say no more - except if you like fairy princes and good-hearted demons you'll enjoy this. I did.

An interesting first book

I love the story of Dick and Gin, they're have a lot of chemistry, very well balanced

If you love all the type of fantasy figures, you love so much this story

I don't know if I love more Dick or Gin, very difficult choice to make, maybe Gin but just a little

I can't wait for the next one, thanks GRR for the arc

Confusing

I like to think I'm a somewhat intelligent person but this book made me think I was constantly one step behind. I felt thrown in the middle of a story and I'm still not sure I understand it after finishing. Ill try the next one because I usually love this author so fingers crossed.

What a fantastic world Skye created. Also a tad confusing. Pinball, demons, fairies. A weird hotel. Gin and Dick are well written and quite engaging. This one will leave you guessing until the very end. Axel, the cat, was a great addition to this pair. Not a quick read, but once my interest was hooked, the story moved.
