Grant Shepard has a small problem. Well, it’s not small— he’s not small— he’s actually a bit of a well-endowed Adonis but his problem is small. Well, no, his problem is giant and might result in him being dumped by his perfect girlfriend and alone forever, but it relates to something small.
Their sex life, or lack thereof.
When it comes to sex their life could be… fuller.
Plumper.
Sigh.
Basically, if Grant was aroused then all his problems would go away.
Which is annoying because Grant lives his life perfectly.
A veteran who saved the life of the vice president, he's known as a hero. He has a great job, a smart and beautiful girlfriend, and he's living a life one can be proud of.
And yet.
Something isn’t right because his girlfriend gives him an ultimatum— either go to a therapist or it's over. The strong, silent routine is not working.
The worst part is that she doesn't just want to go to therapy, she wants to go to ‘sex therapy.’ Which doesn't even sound real. It sounds like something someone made up just to torture him. Someone should pay him to go!
And then Grant meets his therapist.
This is the SECOND BOOK of a duology about a man so far in the closet it's a miracle he ever stumbled out, and the patient and sexy daddy dominant who saw a boy worth the trouble. Please be aware this is a consensual power exchange relationship with lots of kink, a needy boy, a stern but loving daddy, and a relationship that is highly inappropriate. Isn't that what we're all looking for? If not, this probably isn't the book for you. HEA guaranteed!

After the build up of the plot and relationship and potential roadblocks they’d face in the future in the first book, I expected this second book to tackle it. It didn’t.
It’s basically a 180 page sex scene. Some of it’s hot.
And on the last couple pages they threw in the guy who the next book will be about, shocker, a problematic closeted guy.
Grant is famous. He was freaking out about being out in the first book. And then as soon as Will comes along he’s sucking face with him in restaurants and subways and the topic of coming out isn’t even touched.
Will was worried about his job as a therapist and Karen reporting him to the board of ethics for dating Grant. That was also never dealt with. Karen never even knew they were dating.
Grant’s extreme internalized homophobia, in this case, was fixed by a magic dick. Because it also just disappeared.
Also, in BDSM fiction, especially D/s dynamics, it’s a big no-no to either not use protection or to not get tested before penetrative sex. I will always be a stickler about that in my MM, but especially in MM BDSM. You can’t have a long talk about consent and safe words and leave out protection and/or testing.
Also what is with the two random parts in the middle of the book where he calls Grant a “good girl” ?? Like… 😬🤔
There is a lot of continuity issues and poor editing in this book as well. I bought it for a satisfying HEA between the two characters introduced in the first book, not a really long drawn out sex scene with none of the plot from the previous book being addressed at all. I hoped there would be more to their story other than the kinky novella that’s after this but it looks like the author is moving on so… whatever.
I’d like to recommend this but I think most of my reader friends would feel the same as I do. I’m pretty disappointed because I feel like their story is totally unfinished.

For the love of everything I couldn’t finish this…I dnfed it around 65%. It pains me to say that but I hated this and I feel so sad because I loved the first book I gave the first book five starts but this here totally disappointed me. I‘m giving one star because the sex scenes were still okay but somehow they whole vibe about this book is different compared to the first book and I couldn’t stand it. I will pretend I never read that book and think about the first book as a finished series.
Well, I'm not happy with the plot, if one can speak of it at all. It is simply "just" sex. It's ok, filthy and intense, but otherwise there's no further progress whatsoever.
The editing isn’t great, but I love Will and Grant too much to get hung up on it, so 4.5 stars. Heavy kink, Daddy/boy story with no age play - they’re both men and treat each other as such. The Daddy aspect is more about adding further nurturing and care than typical D/s. I do feel like there’s more to be resolved for Will and Grant, mostly outside their kink dynamic, so I hope we get another story about these two.
I'm calling it sorry. I'm just bored, I love sex! I especially love Daddy kink but I need relationship progression and growth inbetween the sex and kink. This did not have that. It tries to trick us into thinking it's there with Grants emotional breakdowns (too numerous to count) and Will's talk about safety, but really, Will remains this Daddy/Dom who is rather bland and Grant is completely different to how he was in book one. All he becomes is needy and sex driven (never have a read a story where someone comes so much from so little). I wanted to see the strong but uncertain guy willingly deal with and love his submissive side not just act like it was never an issue.
Oh well, disappointed it didn't hold my attention like the first book and fell flat ☹️
Okay so this was definitely a fun unexpected read!!! Grant and Will were HOT 🔥
I usually don't read "series". But luckily this only being 2 books felt like it worked for the MCs. I would def say that Book one starts off with a pretty decent plot. Then comes in the Spice which comes fast and plot gets lost. Which I didn't mind at all because it was GOODT. There was definitely parts that felt OTT in some aspects. I found Grant to be such a brat, but then we have Will with his filthy mouth.
Kink: Daddy kink, overstimulation, lace and lingerie, orgasm control, impact play
Honestly, I don’t know what happened. The first book certainly had good sex scenes but there was a lot of angst and build up - even if I didn’t favor Will as a partner.
While I enjoyed Will better as a character and Dominant - and a scene I held objection to in the first book, Grant admits actually liking - but all the issues that led to the cliffhanger and reconciliation were just… left? The book at around 30% was just sex scene after sex scene, or scenes discussing their kink dynamic and sex life. There wasn’t a matter around any of the problems they were really going through, because I feel just like not accepting payment doesn’t erase that Will did see Grant as a client/therapist relationship.
The sex scenes were well written, yes. I didn’t dislike them at all, but this book is essentially erotica. I like age play so I’ll read the novella after this, but I guess we’ve been told all there is about this couple. People have also pointed out that this book is likely Stucky fanfic which is kind of amusing and explains the loss into just writing a bunch of sex scenes.
I am admittedly interested in Sean’s story even if it will end up being a similar scenario.
Pretty sure this was 90% sex. Not that that's a bad thing - it's just that as a conclusion to the story that began in Volume One, I expected more of the issues that were raised there to be addressed - like the fact that Grant was Will's patient, which is ethically questionable re: Will's career as a therapist. So, did anything happen because of that? Did Grant's ex ever find out about them? Who knows. But they sure had a lot of kinky sex!
I’m really torn on how to rate and review this because a lot of it was really hot and sometimes it was sweet, but Grant’s mood swings and volatility were so rough and there were very few moments of Grant and Will just getting along and not engaging in any form of mental sadism/humiliation/masochism. So a lot of it just felt sad and mean. Porn with a heaping side of manic depression. So, 2.8 stars it is.
Grant’s CONSTANT emotional breakdowns got boring fast. There is sexy bratty and there is Grant - written as a petulant man child you wish Will would just dump already. Too bad - book 1 was a surprising five star read.
the positives: ↬ will and grant finally settling into their relationship ↬ will and grant both having conversations to figure out what works for them ↬ this one had plenty of sex scenes compared to the last book
the negatives: ↬ there wasn't a plot anymore tbh, just sex ↬ unresolved plot points from the previous book (grant's internalized homophobia and him going to therapy, will's concern about being with an ex-client, and karen not existing anymore) seemed to disappear ↬ this felt long and unfinished at the same time ↬ i actually got a bit bored halfway through and was ready for the story to be over
this was just an okay follow up to the first book. i don’t know if this book was really necessary because nothing important happened. it took me a few days to finish it and i’ve already forgot if anything really happened tbh. however, the sex scenes were pretty good and i liked them a lot. i’ll still probably check out the novella just because i’m a completionist.
I wish I had stopped after the first book, it wasn't horrible and reading this book gained me nothing. Just a whole lot of whining, cock teasing, and eventually vanilla sex. Grant is the. Biggest. Whiner. OMG. It was so hard to get past that and then Will was no better with all his, we have to wait, we have to wait, it has to be perfect. The waiting was ridiculous. And how many times did they talk about "it's a lot"? "It's a lot to deal with... it's going to hurt a lot.... You've been through so much. Yes it's a lot." 🙄

Tropes - touch starved MC, therapist x ex (kinda?) patient, erotica
Representation - gay rep, queer rep
Horny!: The Sequel
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
Barely 1/5 … Sadly, unless you’re looking for nothing but smut, it may be best to skip this after all. Honestly, there were so many missed opportunities to actually develop the characters, the story, or, you know, give it a plot beyond kink. It could have addressed PTSD, it could have looked at homophobia or “don’t ask don’t tell” in the military and how it affects LGBTQIA+ folks, it could have gamed out the ethical issues surrounding how the MCs met or Grant’s vulnerability by showing readers how his relationship with Will could help him finally understand himself and accept who he is to find happiness and fulfillment, but it did none of those things.
Overall, there was no story to this novel(la) beyond two men exploring a new relationship and their mutual kinks. The emotional components were also unsatisfying since it was just so repetitive (when an MC essentially always reacts the same way no matter what is going on and the focus is constantly on sex, neediness, and crying, it quickly loses its effect/impact, especially since they’re not even exploring much of anything that may be behind it). It got so repetitive and annoying that I found myself having to put this novel(la) aside multiple times just because it inevitably turned every hint of a non-sex-related, maybe-finally-they’ll-have-a-true-conversation, conversation into a sex scene yet again.
It could have been interesting if only it wasn’t so fixated on the smut and the characters had more dimensions.
I read book 1 and 2 back to back, needing to know about Grant and Will’s story.
Grant is an ex-military man, who saved the VP and has become considered a hero. He has a “perfect” girlfriend and a “perfect” life, yet he feels like it’s all an act and he keeps his darkest secrets in the closet (literally). Grant is forced by his girlfriend to see a sex therapist and that’s where he meets Will, his therapist.
There’s definitely a taboo element as they are patient/ therapist, but once Grant and Karen break up, Grant finally has to accept that he is gay and has needs that Will is willing to explore with him.
I love to read Daddy/Boy dynamics in books, although I usually like them fluffier than Will & Grant. Their dynamic was heavy, heated and complex. The whole story is deep with emotion. Grant is a mess; emotional and needy for Will to fulfil the needs he has been suppressing for the longest time.
These are easy to read books. They are spicy as hell, but the emotion is strong! I wanted to wrap Grant up in a hug- poor touch-starved Grant.
Overall, despite it being a heavy read, I loved it. It has left me struggling to choose my next read and that, to me, is a sign of an excellent story! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.75 Smut-Fest! 😎🤘 Not great, but close, really good sex!
A little too much talking and drawing it out sometimes, but the whole book is one big long two-person orgy, with small breaks inbetween the fucking.
The sex is pretty great TPE with a needy greedy boy, and a relatively dominant daddy. (He's a little too kind and permissive sometimes for me.)
Consent is super important in the real world, but in my fiction I like more ravishing, and less talking about feelings. 😉
Will definitely read this again, and I will absolutely read more by this author.
But be prepared, at least in this book there isn't much plot, it's just their relationship evolving a little, and all the sex they have in the meantime.
I absolutely loved how desperate the boy was for affection, touch, and come. Especially the come. 😉
The only negative was how much foreplay, talking, and teasing there was, until you finally got to the good stuff! But when it finally came (pun intended) it was well worth the wait!
Very good book with a lot of BDSM discussion, emotional break throughs, and heat. True to form for this author are built, military main characters with the bottom modifying/working on his body to be visually pleasing. In this book, Grant is quite vain as a result.
Also keeping to form is Grant's vulnerability, neediness, tears, and hardcore submission; and Will's domination, caring, and willingness to immediately open up his life to his new lover. Even though each book follows these themes, they are each unique, sexy, and tug on the heart. Grant especially had a difficult time of it given he starts the book in a toxic relationship with a woman deep in the closet (literally).
Mind your triggers but if you enjoy total power exchange books that are sweet and intense, I definitely recommend. This book also has the added nuance of being more traditionally kink informed despite the taboo relationship. Lots of talking and negotiating
Honestly after how the previous book ended, I expected more from this story and I'm just really bored. It was quickly resolved, all of the plot and worries from previous seem to have vanished/not mentioned at all.
This one is purely focused on spice, the will they/won't they and wish washy feels are so annoying. I don't know how many times have to listen to Grant whine and Will repeat himself, the both of them try to communicate and somehow fail every time.
It simply became frustrating and I lost interest, as it's so focused purely on build up to first time/loss of virginity. Honestly I haven't reached that part yet and I don't really care anymore.
The slow burn, chemistry from the first one is simply no longer there and the lack of plot or any other conversation has me not invested enough to finish this book.

This book was hot. This book was annoying. A constant lack of communication— under the guise of communication. Will is supposed to be a sex therapist and experienced in kink. He should know how to communicate and how important discussions are. Did they ever even talk about condoms or testing? I can’t remember. So much crying, which was part of the kink, but never did Grant maintain and understanding of anything. He would have an “A-HA! Moment” and then the next scene be back in the same place. Every once in a while we would get a peek at Grant when not horny. He is smart and capable. But he never appears so in the series. One last note, Will called Grant “babydoll” several times. I liked that. I forgot how much I enjoyed that pet name.
First, this could have just been one book. I don’t love long steamy romances, but this doesn’t really make sense as a duet, it’s 100% a continuation of the same storyline. Second, forgot to mention this is my first review, but enough with the embarrassingly stupid titles. Yes, I read smut, I will own that. It’s bad enough that my kindle home page looks like I am obsessed with gay male porn (which I guess is close to the truth), but the titles are so cringey! Third, this one felt a little to much like an Ask Me Anything with a BDSM Dom. Too much explanation about the psychology around D/s.
That said, still got three stars because the steam was fire. If you like daddy kink, definitely worth a read.
I’m very glad I didn’t have to wait to read this as the first book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. Grant is still an anxious mess, but at least he’s out of the closet - literally and figuratively - and on the path to allowing himself to happily live out all of his kinky fantasies with Will. I’m curious to see if Sean gets his own story because he’s so far in the closet, he’s probably personal friends with Mr. Tumnus.
While the book was enjoyable it did get boring after awhile. It was the same scenes repeated throughout and I was hoping for a bit more drama. I reread both books by accident because I didn’t remember reading them closer to the release date. There wasn’t a need for two books and could’ve been accomplished with just a rewrite for the first book and bonus scenes. Again I liked the story but it was a waste of time for no real story just seggy times.
While other readers might say “But there is no plot”, or “but it’s just sex”, I thought this was yet again a great job done making the book all about them - Will and Grant and their relationship. Love Grant’s neediness and Will’s ability to read him so well. And my goodness, it’s an incredibly sexy read, addictive and one of those I where you are dreading to get to the end because it’s so good. Jamie has done a great job again. Highly recommend.
2.5 ⭐️ For some reason I start this author’s books and they are so good! Then I keep reading, and it goes downhill so fast. I don’t mind a kinky book, but it’s almost like the characters get lost in the kink? Personalities and story are gone and it’s just sex and a weak plot that doesn’t really make sense anymore. I’ll probably give this author another try; it’s not a pattern until the third time, right? 🙃
This is basically a continuation of book one, and the thing that happens at the end of the first book is pretty much immediately resolved. This is much more about exploring their dynamic and limits and emotions, and it’s just SO GOOD. I hear the novella is great too, so I’m looking forward to that!
This book definitely makes up for all the kinky spice was expecting in the first book, and then some. Grant getting to know himself is a ride, but Will is there for him every step of the way. The external conflict of the cliffhanger ending in book 1 is resolved pretty quickly, and the rest of the story is made up of Grant and Will settling into something new for both of them.
Definitely too much sex for me to enjoy. While some is hot I found it all so distracting and takes away from the caretaking daddy-ing I was hopeful for. Oh well. Lots of points on a lot of adult talking and working out their relationships which I applaud but still couldn’t get me up from being overly bored. Oh well.
I really did enjoy this book, I liked the dynamic between the two which you really see in this type of genre. But, what bruised my biscuit was the somewhat if not continuous bashing of normal relationships, and Karen. We get it heterosexual relationships can be trash, but...🤷 Maybe I'm delusional and trying to see things that are not there, but there were some references that just ticked me.
