An accident at an ancient alien portal has transported six canisters of a deadly substance, one each, into six different worlds. Six two-member teams are chosen and individually inserted into these worlds to retrieve the canisters and return them to their original world. They have only twelve hours before the contents breach containment and destroy the environment, which would include them, too. Each world has its own set of creatures and dangers to complicate the mission. Mr. James has spun an intriguing and complex story in recounting each of the mission logs. He has delved deeply into the crew interactions as they are mightily challenged by the various scenarios. His strong characters and vivid descriptions pulled me in and made me feel like I was included in the adventures. I was completely engrossed in the story, and did not want to put the book down, even to go to bed. I thoroughly enjoyed this finale to the series and look forward to reading more of this outstanding writer’s work.

This one in the series had a few great moments, but the first person narrative story chapters left me wanting to be more immersed. Instead, I was left feeling like being told about a great book from a friend, instead of reading it myself. The comedic character interplay is still there from earlier books in this series, but ultimately didn't bring the stories to life enough for me. Something about the author's first person writing style that made this book feel more dull?

Intriguing story.

Not quite what I expected but different and I enjoyed Joshua's style of story telling. While following the characters from the previous stories, it took them into situations they needed to resolve in their own way. The tales were well told and the characters, even in a sci-fi story, all came across as the individuals that were fleshed out previously and my praise to Joshua for his keeping the group so clearly defined.

I enjoyed this story. Lots of action and surprises with some danger thrown in to add to all the fun. Basically a portal goes down and s plucky crew must save the day. But what they did and faced along the way made the story a blast to read. Glued to the end to see how it would all go and end.

Excellent stories! AWAKENED is a group of stories based on how our group of unlikely heroes come together again to save the world. Each tale is written from the perspective of another member of the team. The author writes it beautifully!

Just a thought

Read the entire series and got hooked on the characters development and relationships. Easy reading dialogue in fluid plots. Recommended to others if you can take a break from the day to day.

Oils well that ends well

I read the entire series and enjoyed it even with technical errors and one that made me laugh...insult instead of insulate. But as an enjoyable read, yes I liked the series and this book.

Saturn’s Legacy

I enjoy the books by Joshua James. Awakened was the fourth book of the series and it was one of the best science fiction books I’ve read in a long time. I really couldn’t stop reading it until I finished it. I recommend the entire series Saturn’s Legacy.
