Westward Western Saga)

The Kid : A Classic Western Adventure

Rate this book
A classic western novel from Frank Wheeler with non-stop epic adventure and a blend of western romance

It was an hour before he finally caught sight of the bandits. Jude shot first… and last. When it was over, he picked up the boy he found sitting in the dark, silently crying over his murdered family. He covered the boy with a blanket and took him to the sheriff.

“With his parents dead, what will happen to him?” Jude asked.

“Nobody wants him. He’s damaged goods,” answered Sheriff Tusk.

Jude looked at the sleeping boy. “I’ll take him.”

Sheriff Tusk scoffed. “How are you gonna take care of a kid? You can barely take care of yourself.”

“I’ll manage. I always do.”

Tusk wiped his sweating brow with the back of his forearm. “Keep him then. What do I care? He’s your problem now.”

Jude Bishop never quite fit in.
People think his boy is odd. Remy doesn’t talk, but he understands the world better than people think.

When they cross paths with outlaw Doyle Hobbs, their peaceful life is shattered.
In this deadly game of deception, will the truth cost Jude his life?

Each novel in the series is a standalone western which can be read out of order.

Too many slow moving bullets

Unbelievably bad, and not in a good way. Heroes avoiding bullets after they'd been fired and a plot that desperately in need of a direct hit. Mr Wheeler could do better.

Compassionate, compassionate, compassionate, says it all about this compelling western masterpiece!

Most definitely five stars worthy, and the excitement never abated from beginning to end! This heartwarming compilation of unending exciting adventures will grab your undivided attention immediately and never wanes from beginning to end m
The Author's outstanding storylines successfully maintains your undivided attention immediately and never falters throughout the entire series of unending gunfighting adventures! No slow downs throughout the entire series of one exciting episode after the other! Too, the character selections were outstandingly descriptive in their commanding assignments from beginning to end! Both old guys and gals, as well as the notoriously famed bad guys! You'll find yourselves unable to put this compassionately heartwarming series of unending adventures aside until the final paragraph has been absorbed!
Most definitely recommend this superbly entertaining revelations of unending exciting adventures to everyone, but you old dyed in the wool western enthusiasts will certainly be appeased with the author's ongoing gunfighting excursions! You non-western readers will also enjoy riding along with these compassionately motivated bunch of characters as the good guys attempts to bring justice to those responsible for their wrongful misdeeds!!!😃

Didn't read it all

I've read many of Wheeler's books and for the most part I have enjoyed them, but it seems lately that he for some reason feels the need to use the Lord's name in profanity.
There is absolutely no need for that in these Western stories.
Did these men in reality use that kind of profanity?? I'm sure they did.....but it adds nothing at all to the stories, and for me personally, it takes away.....
There are way too many authors out there writing similar stories that don't use the Lord's name in a profane manner so if Mr Wheeler wishes to continue to do so, I'll read those other authors.

Not required reading

The main character can load a LaMar faster than domineering speed loaders . He can also kill people from afar while hAving bullets hitting all around him, then turn around aim his Win heater at a person real close holding his girlfriend hostage as instead of shooting him shoots 1bullet knocking the in one out of the bad guys hand then proceed to miss .let everyone else he shoots at. I could Not finish the last few chapters without wondering if I would !one my dinner firxt.

to me it read like two smaller novels

About Jude’s LeMat: the historical LeMat has two barrels, one of which fires a 20-gauge shotgun shell. Jude mowed down his enemies, never missing ‘nary a target— without ever firing the .20 gauge? C’mon, would that be realistic in a shootout?

This was a really great western novel. It was full of action and adventure with plenty of shootouts and just a touch of romance. It was the story of a man who sought revenge for the killing of a boy who was a deaf mute that he'd raised as a son. It was very well written and one of the best westerns I've read. I would highly recommend it!

I really enjoy the storylines by this author!

I enjoy the storylines in the books by this author, but some of the things he says about what horses do drive me nuts! Horses don't lap up water; slurp, guzzle, swallow, yes. Nor do they bark. It sounds like he needs to spend some time with a real horse instead of a dog. But I love all of his books so far!

He is offered a job with the Texas Rangers after shooting about a dozen Rangers in the shoulder or knee?? Get real !! A gunshot in those areas could disable a person. Also is he Superman"faster that a speeding bullet"??

Great

A story worth reading. It left the reader thinking about what would happen next. Where is the no good that left him and his Mother almost dead?

This book was poorly written and poorly edited. It seemed to go on and on to the point that I would skip whole chapters and still miss nothing of the plot.

Good to see the importance of 'Kids'

Good vrs Evil appear frequently in life. This story line adds the importance of its affect on families. Aren't we all kids to someone?

It started kind of sko

It became more interesting as it went along! I liked the fact that
Jude and Rock fell in love and didn't care about the women's past!
