Axel Vander is a Cyborg Force soldier assigned to protect Gayle Chambers as she begins her new top-secret job on Sajave. The problem: he’s her ex-husband.

Gayle was recruited by Breeze O’Day to help prove the sand on Sajave is a sentient life form. This puts her in danger because the current president has made a stand on settling Sajave, but she can’t if there proves to be intelligent life already occupying the planet.

Picking up after the conclusion of the first book, Blown Away, Gale Force continues the exciting story about sentient sand on an alien planet. The concept is unique and interesting. The danger it real, albeit a bit dramatic. (And how is it that the USA President comes off as President of Earth?). I love learning more about the alien life and how it’s communicating. The plot progresses nicely with much uncovered in this one.

Although I enjoyed Axel and Gayle, I didn’t get swept up in their romance as much as I did with the first book. The pair was once married, has been separated for almost twenty years, and almost immediately are back together and saying “I love you.” There is a brief discussion about how sorry each is for the way things went down, and BAM it’s like it never happened. I do enjoy low-conflict stories, but this romance was a bit too easy.

Overall, Gale Force is exciting and entertaining. I look forward to reading the next title.

This was a well crafted second chance romance and a great addition to the series. I loved how Gayle and Axel evolved from hate and exes to respect to love and spouses ;P This progression was well paced and totally believable. Adding in a fab mystery set in a well detailed world, well, you can expect an alien life form, danger, suspense and adventure to wrap right around that romance and take you on a fab reading ride :D

ARE YOU THERE, ALIEN? IT’S ME, GAYLE.

What a great addition to the series. The story is a mystery involving an alien life-form, with suspense, danger, and a second-chance romance. The two main characters are Dr. Gayle Chambers and Axel Vander. These two aren’t strangers, they had been married, but she divorced him when he joined Cyborg Force; now, he is her assigned bodyguard for the next year while she is on Sajave.

“She’s just a job. I’ve dealt with difficult clients before. Treat her like any other client.”

“I’m staying. I want to save the sand.”

The story’s plot will have Breeze contacting Gayle to come to Sajave and study the sand, which she believes is alive. It doesn’t take long for Gayle to agree, yet this must be researched and documented carefully—it will alter plans to colonize Sajave. The administration has been pushing humans to move to Sajave, including bringing in a company that wants to have a high-end resort. But, if what Breeze discovered and Gayle can confirm is true, that the sand is actually alive, it will change everything. The President can’t allow that to happen. Axel knows the dangers, and he doesn’t want to see Gayle caught in the crosshairs—and if she proves Breeze to be correct, both women will be in danger.

Axel: You should go home to Earth. Let’s say, when the sand hits the fan, Earth is where you would be safest.
Gayle: I’m making it my battle. An alien life-form needs my help. My help. I established a connection with it. But there’s much more to be done, and Geo-Tech doesn’t have time to hire another astrobiologist.
Axel: You’ve achieved extraordinary progress. You figured a way to reach the alien. No one else could have done that. Odds are your efforts won’t make a difference in the end.
Gayle: That’s why the alien needs a champion.
Axel: Breeze—Geo-Tech—can be it’s champion.
Gayle: It has me.
Axel: You’re stubborn!
Gayle: I can’t deny I’m stubborn, but I’m staying because something happened out there.

The story is a fast-paced mystery with suspense, danger, and surprises. I liked the two main characters and was glad to see them get a second chance because, deep down, they both still love each other. With the support of Breeze, Tack, Geo-Tech, and C-Force, the alien life-form will have a chance—but at what cost? There is no one the President will allow her endeavors to fail, especially right before an election. The story doesn’t end on a cliffhanger, but as a segue into the next story, Vortex (Cyborg Force3,) which releases in the fall of 2022.

A very interesting and intense read! It definitely shows the uglier side of us humans, and how so few have the desire to improve who we are. Will gladly read more from this author.

Gale Force is the second book in the Cyborg Force series. The romance stands alone, but it is part of an overarching storyline for the series that I suggest reading in order. Gayle has been hired to travel to a different planet to study… sand. But all is not as it seems, especially when she’s forced to work closely with her ex husband, who is now her bodyguard. Untwisting past emotions might be easier than uncovering the secrets of the sand, but can Gayle and Axel prove their theories and their love?

Oh wow, this was a fantastic read! I have always had a soft spot for Ms. Bristol’s cyborgs, and this series is quickly racing to the top of my favorites from her! Gayle and Axel drew me in right away, with all of their tension and past history, plus you add in the secrets of the planet and sand and the shady characters that also play a part in this book, and I was hooked! Gayle hates being blindsided and trust is big with her, so it was interesting to see how the danger aspects played out as secrets were unraveled, but also to see all of her interactions with her ex. I liked that they were just as passionate as ever, but she was more mature now to see what was truly important and to know when she was wrong. Axel was perfect for her, especially now. He seemed pretty in control, and safety was a big deal for him, but I liked that Gayle threw him off a little here and there. I loved their interactions! I loved the way they protected one another! I thought it was great that some of the secrets of this word have slowly been revealed, but this storyline is definitely not finished! I am seriously so excited for the next book and I really enjoyed my time spent reading this book!

This book will totally blow your mind! The first book in this series was amazing and this one was even better! Hard to believe but Cara Bristol continues to impress. Her creativity, versatility and downright ability to keep you interested and invested in her characters is a gift. She uses this gift with a passion that I love, in every book, every genre, every romance. This book starts on Sajave, a new planet that humans are colonizing. It has surprises, government corruption, and a second chance romance that is super steamy. Who can resist a sexy Cyborg with a protective streak a mile wide and the woman he is hired to protect at all costs? Gayle is a very intelligent scientist who is brought to the planet to help determine if the “sand” is sentient. She and Axil share a scarred past they’ll have to put behind them as they work together. Gayle and Axil have that “I hate you so much, I want you” vibe going and you will love it. The danger is real, alien life is possible and a second chance romance is blooming! This is a page turner you’ll devour! And the cover is one of my favorites!

I will never look at sand the same way again !!

What an amazing book in the ongoing saga of the intelligent sand of Sajave !!! In this story we meet astrobiologist Gayle, who has been tasked with finding out if the sand of this desert planet is actually sentient. Only one problem. This top secret endeavor may possibly lead to a Very bad outcome.......
Her demise.
Enter a man from the super spy C-Force, Axel. Who just so happens to be her ex husband !!!!
Sparks fly from the 1st page !!! The chemistry between these two was hott !!!
I felt their pain from their past, and cheered for their possible future, and with the crazy , animated sand and her crazy cat Lucy, the story flowed like a stream !!! I thought the whole sand situation, and the bad guys, and the way that C - Force operatives put 2and 2 together was spot on.
I truly can not wait for the next book in this series as the rest of this story comes together !!! Great book !!!

Gale and Axel were the love of each others lives and were blissfully happy as a young married couple but then Axel decided to follow his dream of becoming a cyborg and join C-Force without discussing it with her and she is so angry that she files for divorce. Now, years later, she is offered a fantastic job opportunity the only drawback is that she will be working closely with Axel who is her bodyguard. Gayle is working to help determine whether the sand is an intelligent, sentient being. She and Axel have a lot of teething problems in the beginning, both hurt by the other's actions all those years ago and both feeling betrayed by the other. But Gayle soon makes some exciting discoveries and she makes a unique connection with the sand. I really enjoyed that the story ran, to a certain extent, parallel to the story with what is happening with the Government and the dodgy dealings going on. The characters are absolutely wonderful and the story had passion, second chances, danger, intrigue and a wonderful love story.

Astrobiologist Gayle (h) is tasked with unraveling the mysteries of sentient sand on the desert planet Sajave. But there's a catch—her bodyguard and protector on this mission is none other than her ex-husband, Axel (H), a Cyborg Force member. The tension between Gayle and Axel, still grappling with unresolved feelings and complex dynamics, adds depth as they navigate personal history amid their professional duties. The tension crackles as they work through past hurts while navigating imminent challenges, dangerous terrain, and shady political games surrounding the planet's discoveries. Gayle's scientific curiosity and Axel's protective nature, create relatable and multifaceted protagonists who have a second chance at love with one another. The exploration of an alien life form adds an intriguing layer, raising questions about its implications for Earth, adding suspense and mystery, as Gayle and Axel work to uncover the truth and deal with corrupt forces. Hot and steamy second chance romance blending suspense, passion, intergalactic mystery, and the enigma of extraterrestrial life.

Fantastic!

Gayle is an Astrobiologist being sent to the planet of Sajave to prove or disprove that the sand on the planet is a living organism. She is very excited, until she finds out that her bodyguard is her ex husband Axel.

Axel always wanted to join C-force and become a cyborg. He just didn’t realize it would cost him his marriage. When he is assigned to be her bodyguard is isn’t happy about it but vows to keep her safe.

But when Gayle does manage to communicate with the sand and prove it is an intelligent being, they unleash deadly forces intent on suppressing the information and eliminating them!

This is the second book in the series and is every bit as exciting as the first!.

Was extremely interesting to see how the sand of Sajave communicated it's distress to Gayle. The problem of waste dumping is so wide spread, it's not a strech of the imagination at all to believe that humans would do something like what SEW solutions did. Looking forward to seeing how MORE and SEW solutions go head to head in the next book with Tempest and Bane.
What I like best about Cara's books is that though it's a romance, there's always so much more to the plot than boy meets girl. Of course I am glad Alex and Gayle get a second chance, but I am even more intrigued by where the big story arc will land.

A Second Chance Cyborg/Human Love Story With the Strangest Aliens EVER!

As is normal with Ms Cara Bristol, she creates a story that you can’t put down! In this novel, she created a fantastic, relatable, second chance, love story that has the reader rooting for the H and h to… get back together already. And THEN, she adds a Sci-Fi twist that is unimaginable! I had to keep reading to found out Who-Dun-What and to WHOM! This novel is quite the ride and includes a PSA we all should think about. Overall: This Novel is a HIT! Can’t wait for the third installment.

Omg this book was so much fun! The plot thickens! We continue the story where it left off in Blown Away and it's a rollercoaster of a ride! I love Gayle and Axel at first the hate between them was strong but over the course of the story they start to rekindle their romances after realizing that when they first got married they were young and misjudged each other. I loved everything in this book and I can't wait to see what happens next!

What a fabulous addition to the series. Axel and Gayle are a couple you do not want to miss. They are funny, angsty, and absolutely perfect for each other even if they don't think so. The story is creative and makes you think too. Sensual and sexy while being articulate and thought-provoking. Do not miss this wonderful sci-fi story.

I enjoyed reading this second chance romance that's about Gayle Chambers and Axel Vander. I got involved reading this engaging story. The characters were likable, and their chemistry sizzled. There's lots of drama and angst and the word building was detailed where I could picture it. Overall, this cyborg story was an enjoyable ARC that I received via Booksprout and that I volunteer to read and review.

An excellent read!
I loved this second-chance romance. It has all the feels when Gayle and Axle, a divorced couple who haven't seen each other in 19 years, are thrown together on a mission to prove the sentient intelligence of another species.

Initially there here is nothing but animosity between the two main characters. Very slowly this changes. A lot of pain and resentment was keeping them apart. A new job, a new planet and a new discovery may just be the thing get them back together.

Gale Force is a rocky reunion of the exes in a close proximity situation from a long time auto-buy author. After the exciting opening events of Blown Away and the big sci-fi alien surprise at the end, I was eager as could be to press forward with the next book in the series.

Gale Force is the second book in the Cyborg Force series that must be read in order.

Dr. Gayle Chambers has arrived on planet in something of a discombobulated mood. First, the situation is all hush hush and she doesn’t know what she’s getting into though she trusts the scientific job she has been offered by another known and respected researcher will be worth the implied danger of needing a body guard following her about. The primitive nearly bare planet is covered in sand and the accommodations are rather basic. However unsettling all that may be, the cyborg assigned to guard her- and stay in the same quarters- is her ex whom she didn’t part from amicably after he put his career before their relationship.
Only, Axel Vander has an utterly different perspective on the past they shared and Gayle gets rather a shocker when he unloads his truths on her about the time she decides to ignore the rules and do some independent research. To surprising results for all.
Back on earth, the president is pressuring her legal aide to push through her agenda and is a growing threat as the C-Force and scientific researchers uncover what the president is seeking to hide.

The first book introduced the world and the series conflict so well and now Gale Force picked right up and kept the chains moving forward with advances in the series plot both on earth and an alien world. The fascinating new alien has revealed more and also revealed some deeper political intrigue to add to the tension. I’m very curious about what was going on with that secondary plot thread on earth with the cold, ambitious president’s troubled lawyer and her lethal and watchful bodyguard.

But, back to the main event. I could have been doubtful about the romance scenario as I wasn’t in the mood for a lot of ex drama and distracting issues. I was right to trust Cara Bristol to give the conflict careful due, but also had the pair able to work through the knee jerk emotions, show the maturity the last several years have brought, and figure it out while partnering on her important research work and his efforts to keep them alive so they can report their findings. I have no idea if it was on purpose, but I loved that whole Clive Cussler’s Sahara moment when they found the secret out in the sand.

The suspense just ratcheted up even with a nice denouement for this installment and left me salivating for the next book to see what comes next. The quick-read, sexy, well-developed world and characters are a tantalizing combo that I can recommend highly to other light sci-fi romance fans.

I rec'd an eARC from the author to read in exchange for an honest review.

My full review will post at The Reading Frenzy Aug 18th.

"Gayle Force," Book 2 in Cara Bristol's Cyborg Force Series is even more than I expected! The first book of the series was excellent! I couldn't put it down, as it was full of action and suspense as well as a romance between two more mature characters. I couldn't believe that this book was even better!

Axel Vandar is a broody, good looking C-Force Cyborg, hired as a bodyguard for one feisty astrobiologist, Gayle Chambers---his ex-wife. I love these two characters, so much, but they can't seem to stop ripping each other apart. There is lots of angst, the action and suspense continue, and drool worthy steamy chemistry here. It is just a fabulously written book!

I liked seeing a mid-life heroine facing the kind of career and personal challenges that often accompany success in a highly competitive field. Dr. Gayle Chambers is a respected scientist and an accomplished musician (which is a surprisingly common occurrence in real academic circles). I loved the way author Cara Bristol combined her character's high intelligence with vulnerability and passion (no nerdy stereotypes HERE). Gayle's reflections on the breakdown of her marriage nineteen years ago to Cyborg Force operative Axel Vander are thoughtful and show how she has grown from an impatient young girl to a mature woman who is able to face her fears and take full responsibility for hard choices about her career and her love life. In particular, we get an inside view of a two-career couple struggling to understand and meet each other's expectations. The back and forth bickering between Axel and Gayle is true-to-life, as the pair explore the hurts that ended their marriage. Reluctantly, while trying to maintain distance and convince themselves that each has "moved on," their deep feelings re-emerge as they team up to combat corporate and political machinations endangering an entire species of aliens. The story has suspense, thrills, and romance, not to mention thought-provoking observations about environmental issues and the definition of sentient life. A thinking person's romance. Well done.

___________________________________________________________
The plot, though linear, is captivating thanks to its original premise: an astrobiologist investigating a mysterious "arena" on an alien planet. Intrigue increases when it is revealed that Gayle's cyborg ex-husband will be her bodyguard. The relationship between Gayle and Alex, marked by mistrust and pain, evolves gradually and realistically, giving the story depth.
However, the ending feels a little rushed. Although the reconciliation between the protagonists is expected, it lacks the emotional depth that would have been desirable. I would have liked to explore more deeply how they overcame past wounds.
Despite these minor details, the novel is an entertaining and original read, ideal for science fiction lovers looking for a story with complex characters and an intriguing plot. The description of alien life and the protagonists’ challenges in a hostile environment will captivate the reader.

I received a copy from Booksprout; this is my honest review
-It did not take long for both Alex and Gayle to say wife/husband instead of adding "ex" with it...
-With two PhDs, you'd think Gayle would be less naïve. But nope, she's a real Thomas but it doesn't take long for her to realize what is at stake. First the need to have a bodyguard, then for C-Force to have a dossier about her; particularly this last one since her job is the top of top-secret - wouldn't you think it would be weird if they DIDN'T have your whole life in front of them??? About that dossier, Alex's name should have been in there somewhere.
-I wondered how Gayle could get away by saying "he's interfering with my work" while he's in her contract: A bodyguard will be assigned to you? Like Alex says "you can't disregard security protocols because you don't like me".
-I'm confused at what "operating by Braille" means. Gayle was walking in the dark. I checked online and couldn't find anything.
-"I woke up to a faint roar in my ears" - I thought it was Lucifer sleeping near his head! LOL.
-I thought the end, before the epilogue, was really cool.
-As soon as I saw Tempest's name I knew she'd be in one of the next books; just not how until the end - well done.
-The epilogue brings you to the next book and I really like it when authors do that.
-No romance per se but lots of action, adventure, suspense and mystery all wrapped-up on a planet that needs help. Fun read.
-In all the books I have read so far, we get an earbash about the author's pet peeves - I would assume they are - In this case we get secrets not being kept secret (I can assure you many people don't even tell their SO), or recycling not being recycled (a bit like when Tim Hortons told us their cups were being recycled and they were not).

Wonderful second book in series, great characters and storyline that is intriguing read

This was based around Gayle Chambers who had spent her life studying everything to do with living things, when she finds herself on a desert planet it seems that the research, she had been doing may possibly be the cause of her death.

Her ex-husband is working for Cyborg Force and now she finds herself trapped with him on this god-forsaken dustbowl of a planet with no idea how they are going to get help or more importantly to he is will she be able to complete her mission, perhaps her life and all of the work she has done will have been for nothing.

As the truth about her husband and what had actually happened to him when he joined C-Force and then they had lost their marriage, it seems there is so much more that had not been known and as they work together it is obvious that the love and feelings have not died, perhaps something positive may come from this situation.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

“I plan to be on my guard all the time.”

Gayle accepts an amazing job opportunity knowing she wants/needs more information, but unaware just how many surprises could by lying in wait for her. Maybe her ex-husband appearing out of no where to be escort her to her new job was an omen.

Axel wouldn’t trust anyone else with his ex-wife’s life, even if he’s still crushed by the betrayal of her filing for divorce. Now that they’re stuck with one another, 24/7, can they manage a truce? They’ve each got important jobs to get done after all.

I was gifted with a copy of this book and am choosing to share my review… this world is amazing, thought provoking about the world in which we live it is creative, imaginative, and captivating. Stories/Universes like this are why I love science-fiction and fantasy. A kernel of our reality, a dash of what-if, and suddenly a world I would love to investigate is coming to life.

Gayle’s scientific mind, and musician’s heart are challenged to not only answer a challenging question, but deal with the struggles in framing the question itself. I loved the line “Intention suggests intelligence.” This adventure is on every level, physical, mental, and emotional, as Gayle, and we the reader seek to learn about Sajave and become champions of that which we can not understand.

Following on from "Blown Away" this book continues the storyline of investigating the alien life form on Sajave. Gayle Chambers comes to the planet as a renowned astrobiologist to see if she can prove conclusively that work done indicated that there is sentient life on the planet is actually valid. On arriving at the planet she finds that the bodyguard assigned to her is Axel, her former husband. This adds a romantic twist to the story as the two fight feelings that have laid dormant.

If there is sentient life on the planet, this means that further business development cannot go ahead and there are those that wish any such findings to be quashed. Into this mix comes the discovery of underhand business practices that could further destroy the money-making wishes of those in power.

The epilogue possibly contained too much detail of what I would have expected to find in the next book of the series as there was very little in it that actually related to this book. Most of the epilogue would probably have served better as a prologue to the next book.

Despite this, this is still another exciting story in the series. However, I did wonder where Gayle would have acquired the skills to jump into an industrial digger and operate the bucket with no problems at all! Perhaps there is an interesting backstory here!
