Dr. Charles F. Stanley is the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Atlanta, founder of In Touch Ministries, and a New York Times best-selling author who has written more than fifty books, and has sold more than nine million copies. He demonstrates a keen awareness of people's needs and provides Christ-centered, biblically-based principles for everyday life.

Charles Frazier Stanley was born September 25, 1932, in the small town of Dry Fork, Virginia. The only child of Charley and Rebecca Stanley, Charles came into the world during a time when the entire nation felt the grip of the Great Depression. To make matters worse, just nine months later, his father Charley died at the young age of 29.

However, Charles refused to let the Great Depression or the difficulties of his life define him. Instead, like his father and grandfather before him, he clung to God’s Word and took up the mantle to preach the gospel to whoever would listen.

Dr. Stanley’s motivation is best represented by the truth found in Acts 20:24, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about God's mighty kindness and love.” This is because, as he says, “It is the Word of God and the work of God that changes people’s lives.”

Dr. Stanley’s teachings can be heard weekly at First Baptist Church Atlanta, daily on “In Touch with Dr. Charles Stanley” radio and television broadcasts on more than 2,800 stations around the world, on the Internet at intouch.org, through the In Touch Messenger, and in the monthly, award-winning In Touch magazine.

I started reading this through a few months back and found I couldn't really recall the principles or how they were outlined in Scripture. This time I read through the book over two days and looked up most of the Scriptures cited in the text. This simple step worked to cement the principles in my mind and heart and give me a way to recall the principles later. since this is a study guide as well I may work through it again and log my answers for each question. I recommend this book to those who are Christian, conservative, and at any point in their faith. This will spur you on to growth and an intimacy with God.

Such a fantastic book. Teaches you what it means to truly live a Christ-centered life. It’s not a life of sunshine and roses but often storms and thorns. This has been such an encouragement to me. Each principle is accompanied by scripture-focused questions.

This is not a study that can be done in 30 days. I suggest reading a principle or maybe two per week. I would like to read it again at an even slower pace. Some of the principles seem to overlap a bit and I’d love to see some combined but as you read the book, you better understand the nuances that separate them.

A great devotional. Definitely 30 life principles we should live by but I expected the book to have more depth- I feel with Dr. Stanley’s knowledge and his sermons related to each one of these principles, that each chapter or each principle could’ve had more depth to it- each chapter or principle mostly consisted of questions related to biblical events, which at times linked loosely to the principle. A great book to do with a Bible study or book study-

A good resource for the basics growing and deepening Christians' relationship with God. These principles are on the one hand simple but on the other they'll take a lifetime to grow into. I particularly appreciate how each one is illustrated from a range of biblical texts, both Old and New Testament, often fitting them together in ways I hadn't considered. Highly recommended.

For Christian books, I definitely prefer Max Lucado as it is written to be easier to read. Still, very good lessons and ideas. Love how it ties in questions you have to look up in scripture to get the answers. Allows you to take the lessons to the next level.
