Something About You

Io so chi sono.
So quali sono le mie origini.
E so qual è il mio obbiettivo.

I swear to the fucking book gods, everytime I picked up a J Nathan book, I’m always taken on an amazing journey. This book gripped me from start to finish. I was just hooked, line and sinker. I didn’t want it to end!!

Kason and Shay were two complete opposites, from very different backgrounds and yet their relationship just worked. It wasn’t perfect and started off very rocky, but once things got resolved…eventually…it was solid.

I mean, I could talk all day about these two. Kason was a stubborn ass at times and in the beginning, a bit douchey, but I instantly loved how he quickly realized he needed to change and the be the guy he really is, the one she brings out in him. Not the one he lets everyone else see. An arrogant, cocky, self-assured jock. See, this dude is a pro snowboarder (while also a college student) with talent that makes even a non snowboarder fan wanna know more about the sport. I never took a lick of interest in the sport but Nathan managed to keep me intrigued. I found his skills sexy as hell. I could picture all his tricks as he rode that board all over the snowy mountain and hills. I only ever skied, a few times which is fun. Also, I wanna go to Colorado just cause.

Anyway, Shay is also a college student trying to get by. She had a rough life. I felt bad for her and all she went through. I just loved her “no bullshit” attitude. She was tough as nails, very sassy and sweet. She’d do anything for those she cared about. Until she goes to college, she has practically no one in her life. But she meets her roommate, Kendall and they click right away. I loved Kendall. She was the support system Shay needed.

Then Kason barges into her life and everything changes. I loved it! I loved his family, including his sister! I loved Thayer and even Jesse. I loved everything about this book!!

I definitely recommend!! It’s just a fun, angsty sweet, sexy romance!

There's something about this author's writing that is just so completely devourable - I ALWAYS read her books in one sitting. This was another bingeable romance, and though I did NOT love every moment of it, I was 100% hooked the whole way through. I read this at an alarming rate, and I may have wanted to slap the hero a time or two, but I still loved him. College romances can be tricky for me (I have a touch of PTSD from too many terrible ones), but I have a level of trust with this author's work now. I know going in that she's probably going to toy with my emotions without crossing TOO many lines, and that's definitely the case here. Without that trust, I'm not sure how I would've felt about this one. But the frustration that I felt towards the characters adds an intensity to this that kept my eyes glued to the page.

The story follows Shay, a college student who always feels like a bit of a loner. She's never had a loving or supportive family, and she values her studies over her appearance or social standing. After a less than friendly encounter with a hot jerk, Shay develops a distaste for the guy. But Kason needs help with his schoolwork, and he knows an opportunity when he sees one. Kason has a healthy ego and a level of self-absorption that doesn't allow him to see the wrongness of his actions as he blackmails Shay into being his tutor. That changes as Kason gets to know Shay better, and it's not long before he's wondering if she'll ever be able to see past their rocky start.

Kason messes up A LOT in this. So much so that I would've dropped my rating had it not been a major part of his character development. He's supposed to be arrogant and selfish, and his actions are supposed to be wrong. That's all part of the story. There's drama and angst along the way as Kason struggles to get his footing, and Shay is the only girl who makes him want to be better. I love a smirking bad boy with a marshmallow heart, and that's Kason. I couldn't stay mad at him for long, and he definitely won me over along the way. I did still want to smack him though. Regardless, the opposites attract, bad boy/good girl storyline really worked for me, and the dynamic was interesting to read. There's a uniqueness and unpredictability to the storyline that makes this incredibly engaging, and I cannot deny that I absolutely devoured it. If you can handle a selfish jerk who isn't perfect, then this is a very solid read. I received an early copy and am voluntarily leaving a review of this college romance.

J. Nathan gifts readers an addicting enemies to lovers story with deep wells of feels with SOMETHING ABOUT YOU.

Kason McCloud is cocky for a reason. He’s one of the best snowboarders in the world. He’s also struggling with his physics class. After practically begging the new nerd girl to tutor him, he’s resorted to blackmailing her. But the no BS, fierce and feisty Shay Miller will bring this superstar to his knees and together they’ll realize that sometimes the people who come into your life are unexpected and exactly what you need.

Nathan delivers buckets of captivating drama and angst that hooked me throughout the story and left me wanting more. Kason and Shay’s exchanges are appealing in their evenly matched opposites attraction.

I stayed glued to my eReader enjoying Kason’s growth from self-centered athlete to thoughtful and caring boyfriend and the very opposites attract romance between him and Shay who is equally interesting. She’s smart, tough and knows what she wants but because of past abuse she has some justifiable trust issues which are put to the test.

Kason’s family and friends and Shay’s new bestie added a wonderful layer to the story and helped these two find their footing as a couple. I hope we get some of their stories. I also loved the very original snowboarding backdrop. J. Nathan had me rocking to 80’s and 90’s rock while checking out snowboarding tricks on IG.

If you love:
✔️ Cocky hero
✔️ Fierce Heroine
✔️ Hate to Love
✔️ Exciting
✔️ With all the feels!

Lo amé 😍🥰

✨📖✨

I’m yours, Shay. I want to prove I’m good for you. Because you’ve been so damn good for me. 😍

Shay made me a cheesy kind of happy. I was Kason-mother-fucking-McCloud. I could be cheesy if I fucking wanted to be. ❤️

Let me love you, Shay Miller. Let me love you the way you deserved to be loved all those years. 🥺😍

2.5 stars. This is your typical enemies to lovers featuring an athlete bad boy and a nerdy goody two shoes girl. If you like this sort of book and are okay with it being predictable, I think you should give this a read.

The writing was fine and the storytelling was very typical for this genre which means it hinted at darker things but was very superficial in everything it mentioned. I considered Shay’s past to be quite interesting but the book barely touched on it. In fact, I forgot all about it until the epilogue. That was the most interesting thing about all the characters. Although, I was annoyed by Shay for most of the second half of the book. She was being dumb and I can appreciate people learning lessions but in the end it only addressed one thing. Kason follows his trope to a tee. There were quite a few crimes committed during the book to the point that I started keeping track of them. It made it fun for me.

Overall, it was alright for me. There was something about the beginning that made me really enjoy it but the longer I read, the more annoyed I became. The first half of the book was a solid 3 stars and the second half was a solid 2 stars. I probably would have liked this one more if I needed something predictable but I wasn’t completely in the mood for it.

Crimes Committed - I may have missed some and this is for my entertainment.

Amazing chemistry and character development. I love it when characters grow throughout the storyline and Jason had such a great character growth. Simply amazing. I adored that Shay was a unique nerdy heroine. We get both their point of views so that really helps to understand both of them.
I want to read more from this author.

I binged Something About You on a rainy Friday night while my family watched a Marvel movie. This book was a charming opposites-attract college romance between an athlete failing physics, the nerd he blackmails into tutoring him, and them both learning along the way that what you don't think you want sometimes turns out to be exactly what you need.

Kason and Shay definitely get off on the wrong foot, and every run-in after that is filled with tension. When Shay gets drunk at a party at Kason's house and falls asleep in his room, he gets the perfect opportunity to blackmail her into tutoring him. Shay is book smart, but she's also sassy, fierce, tells it like it is and does not placate Kason. At all. He's so used to people fawning all over him and falling at his feet -- and Shay does not. She intrigues him, and he begins to realize that he feels like the most authentic version of himself when he's around her.

Poor Shay has had such a difficult life, but she is resilient and determined not to let her past define her future. She is reluctant to trust that Kason genuinely likes her at first -- they are opposites in every way, and the nerdy girl never gets the star athlete. And despite Kason's selfishness and the lies he tells her in the beginning, Shay begins to depend on him in ways she never imagined she could. The love that Kason shows her makes Shay feel wanted for the first time in her life, and he shows a vulnerability around Shay that made me fall fast for this cocky hero.

There are a million reasons why Shay and Kason shouldn't work as a couple. But they just do, and their story was so charming! I also loved the hints at whatever is happening between Kason's sister Giselle and best friend Thayer! I'm definitely interested in getting their story!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I've enjoyed the author's other series For You, so when I saw this up for grabs I had to get a copy. This is a quick read with romance, drama, and some awesome snowboarding scenes. The character's relationship stars off very rocky, blackmail is not a good way to make friends, but the more time they spend together the more they understand each other and I thought they made a cute couple.

Shay is all alone, no family except an abusive father, with college as her ticket to a better life. I felt bad that she had to endure so much and was pretty angry with Kason for threatening and lying to her. She deserved better and I was happy when she chose herself and made Kason reevaluate his priorities. She's such a sweet person and the scenes with her and Kason's family were endearing. I'm glad she found people to rely on.

Kason started out as unlikeable for me. He was selfish and didn't care if he hurt others to get what he wanted. He needed a reality check and it was great when Shay put him in his place. Kason has the most growth in the story and by the end, I was proud of him for standing up for his girlfriend and being a good man.

This was easy to dive into and had a straightforward plot. I'm pretty sure there will be a sequel featuring Kason's sister and a certain friend, but I guess we'll see!

I discovered this writer through her ‘For you’ series. A new adult sport series that I enjoyed very much so I was very happy and excited when I read the blurb of ‘Something about you’ and discovered that this new adult story was about a snowboarder and a nerdy girl.

Shay Miller and Kason McCloud may attend the same university but just like their opposite characters, their reasons for going there are totally different. For Shay, Cranmore University is a fresh start, a chance for a better future, after a difficult childhood with an alcoholic father. For Kason, it’s just an obstacle that he has to take before following his own dream of becoming a professional snowboarder.

The first time that Shay and Kason meet is a real disaster and their second encounter isn’t any better and when Kason blackmails Shay into teaching him and later uses her in his little games against his ex-girlfriend, he isn’t making himself very likable with Shay. But even so, the more time that Kason and Shay spend together the more they get to know each other and something is happening. Something good but what will Shay do when she discovered that Kason lied to her? Will she forgive him and give him a second chance or not?

I really enjoyed this story. I love reading sport romance books and the fact that this one was about snowboarding made it a bit more special because it’s the first time (that I can remember) that I read a story about it. I found it very fascinating and refreshing.
And then you have the main characters Shay and Kason, You couldn’t have two more opposite characters than them! Shay is a nerdy smart girl, quiet, reserved, normal looking and Kason is an arrogant, hot, popular, sexy, self-centred athlete. But still from their first meeting (that doesn’t go well) there is something there. It’s very little in the beginning but during the story you can feel it grow. Just like Kason, who gradually changes from a guy how only thinks of himself into a guy who thinks of others and will do anything to protect Shay. I’m very glad that we got both POV’s in this story because that way we got to know Kason better and got to see his good and vulnerable side too.
The interaction between Shay and Kason was interesting and fun.

But what surprised me the most in this story is that in the end, Kason may act very self-assured, he also had a vulnerable side and Shay may be a bit shy and quiet but she was a strong person. I really loved it that in the end she found everything she ever dreamt of and more by Kason and his family. Shay and Kason may be very different persons but they were perfect for each other.

I found the secondary characters also very fascinating and I have my fingers crossed that the writer will write stories about them too!! There were definitely some vibes going on between Kason’s sister Giselle and his best friend Thayer.

‘Something about you’ is a great new adult story.

This was my first book by J. Nathan. I loved it! The banter between Kason and Shay is great and starts right off the bat. Shay has been dealt a rough life. She is strong and takes no crap from anyone. Kason comes off as a big jerk at first, but he comes around and you can't help but love him. Shay puts up with a lot but she has a lot of people in her corner. Even though it's hard for her to understand how people could care for her, I loved watching her grow. The relationship that grows between Kason and Shay is great. I loved how his family treated her as she was one of them from the very beginning. I really loved all the side characters as well: Giselle, Thayer, Kendell, and Kason's parents.

This was such a great book! So much so I couldn't put it down!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loved watching Shay bring Kason to his knees! Opposites attract at its best. Shay is the science geek with a troubled past. Kason is the one to watch for snowboarding championships (and his looks). When Kason needs help in a class he goes to extreme measures to get help from Shay. While at times I didn't like Kason he did redeem himself. I've said it many times - J. Nathan's books never fail to put all the feels into a great read.

I love this story! The characters and their story has depth and lots of heart.
I didn’t love Kason in the beginning (that’s part of what made me love this book) he’s a jerk in the beginning and it’s not a misconception, he’s really arrogant and selfish.
So, his change and growth made it a satisfying story, it’s something a little different than the usual college romance.
I like the sports god and the nerd aspect, I think even if that wasn’t you as a young adult, it’s easy to root for the “nerd” to get the hot jock. For him to see her and care. It’s kind of universal “feel good” in my opinion.
Shay is so easy to love, I adore her and loved her strength. I loved that she didn’t let herself be defined by others standards. She had a tough life, she didn’t let it hold her back. She’s still carrying some of that damage, but she’s doing really well considering.
The verbal sparring is witty and fun. I loved the way the characters challenge each other.
Such an enjoyable story that has tons of heart, fun and quirky characters that were interesting to see grow and blossom.
There are some really great moments when Kason made me swoon. He seriously was redeemed and there were some scenes he showed emotional smarts and care for Shay. Loved!!
I think this story has that “it” factor.
I really loved it and highly recommend it!

College sports romances is one of my favorite tropes and I have to say that this author knocks it out of the park when it comes to crafting an engaging story that captures the essence of being a college student and all of the trials and tribulations that come with it. Cleverly written, this opposites attract, enemies to lovers romance ensnared my attention right from the first page. I was so invested in the characters that I never wanted it to end.

Shay is exceptionally smart and I love that her subject of expertise was physics. She is quiet and science nerd and as the author reveals her backstory, I came to admire her strength and perseverance. Kason is self serving to the point that I sometimes wanted to shake him, but this was all essential to his character development. The author did a spectacular job in demonstrating the evolution of his character from one that I wanted to yell at to one that I came to love.

Told from a dual POV, we get a much needed glimpse into the minds of both Kason and Shay. I am grateful for this as I was able to see that for all of his arrogant ways, Kason actually has a vulnerable side as well. To say that these two butt heads is an understatement and while they are true opposites, they both have huge goals that they hope to achieve. For all of their differences, I really enjoyed how the author illustrated their connection and took these two on a journey that went from enemies to a loving couple.

On a side note, I love that Kason was a snowboarding athlete. I know absolutely nothing about this adrenaline seeking sport and I found it completely fascinating. Additionally, I really liked the supporting characters and appreciated their contributions to the story. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The storyline was solid, the plot was well executed, and the characters were interesting and well developed. I am definitely looking forward to reading more books by this author!

Overall rating: 4.5 stars

I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

✓ Nerdy FMC

✓ College setting

✓ Standalone

Shay is a nerd to the core; she is intelligent, passionate about physics & mathematics and knows interesting facts.
Kason is the famous snowboarder aiming for a gold in his next competition. He might come off as over confident but as he said, "If you weren’t your own biggest fan, you couldn’t expect someone else to fill that job for you." There is much more than meets the eye.

Shay & Kason have chemistry & connection. Their study sessions were cuteee & Kason trying to win her back the first time, aaah, stubbornness is a good trait.

The one thing I loved the most about the storyline was how Kason had everything but was still scared &vulnerable. The epilogue in his POV? Fantastic. From the start we see him as the cocky & somewhat selfish guy. His change in behavior was smooth & so very sweet. He just became the realistically ideal guy, which means he did mess up, more than once, but there were reasons, motives & he worked hard to win his girl back.

The storyline is sweet, emotional (relationship sense & individual sense) & practical. As soon as you start reading, you'll get an idea of what the whole story may be based upon, but do not stop as there is more than that.

THIS reminds me of why I Love College Sports Romance

College Sports Romance has been a long-time favorite trope of mine. But lately, I’ve been a bit bored or disappointed with new books in this genre. Maybe I had read too many of this trope? Maybe I’d outgrown college sports romances? Who knows. I just know that I couldn’t stop reading Something about You by J Nathan! THIS book right here is why I fell in love with this trope.

Something About You hit all the great points. It has a strong female main character who has not had an easy life, but is no pushover. She’s determined to make something of herself. She’s smart and hardworking with a sassy mouth. Our hero is a hot snowboarder who’s already a start in his own right from competing in the X Games. He’s a bit of a jerk, definitely more than a little selfish, and is also struggling in struggling in school. So yeah, he’s the complete opposite.

The interaction of these two strong personalities kept me smiling. The evolution of these characters- watching Kazon grow as a person, had me falling in love. And how they faced several adversities, well, it really gave real depth to the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Something About You by J Nathan. It was a fast, fun read with just enough angst and challenges to keep me hooked. It is a story I know I will read and reread again.

I absolutely recommend this book.

I devoured this book in nearly one sitting as it was filled with angst, simmering hostility, a push/pull relationship, and an intriguing storyline. The connection I had with the main characters was immediate and heartfelt. There’s something that is so addictive in J. Nathan’s writing and it’s just so easy to immerse myself in her stories. Her storytelling is so seamless.

I absolutely loved this story and could not get enough of Shay and Kason and their fiery love/hate relationship. I loved watching these two go from enemies to friends and so much more. There is some serious back and forth with some angst that I just loved.

I love a smart and sexy enemies to lovers romance. I loved Something About You because it’s exactly that—smart and sexy and so well written. It was exactly what I was looking for when I needed a sexy, swoony, good old-fashioned NA romance. The story was unique, fantastic and so different. In addition, the side characters were just as interesting. I hope we get more from this world!

When Shay first met Kason he didn’t make the best first impression. She thought he was he was handsome until he opened his mouth and she despised him. Kason thought she was beautiful but he was occupied with other things. Until he needed her help and realized how beautiful she also is on the inside. Shay keeps to herself but she isn’t a doormat. Kason had his work cut out for him. Little by little he started discovering more things about Shay as she slowly started opening up to him that he felt the need to protect her and take care of her always. His family simply loved her o even think more than they loved Kason lol. Kason had lots of obstacles to clear to prove himself to Shay. Shay wasn’t shy about speaking her mind to Kason and I loved it. Their story was slow but very meaningful and beautiful.

Wow! Two people so very, very opposite of one another! They say opposites attract and in this case it's so true! Started a little slow for me, but it did pick up the stream! Laugh out loud moments! Highly recommend!

Honestly, this was just a cute Sports/College Romance about a semi-pro snowboarder, Kason McCloud, who enlists the begrudging help of his girlfriend's dorm neighbor and science genius, Shay Miller, to avoid failing physics for the second time. It quickly becomes clear how infatuated with Shay Kason in, and how he starts to make himself a permenant fixture in her life, despite how much she can't stand him.

I did really like the character development in this book. Watching Kason go from arrogant, entitled, selfish asshole, to someone who was willing to give up everything he ever wanted for the girl he never saw coming was really beautiful to watch.
