My therapist amazoned this to my house. The dude wants me to give 10% of what I earn away, and he said donating to yourself doesn’t count. He gives good 70/20/10 advice: 70% of your check for ALL your living expenses, 20% saving/investing, 10% giving. Yada yada yada heard it before, but he was encouraging about it. I wish he went beyond rationing your check and explained how to afford life within the 70% range. Homie seems to not know how much rent is 🫶 50% of my paycheck MINIMUM for a SHIT apartment, plus everything else wouldn’t fit in 70% of what I make and I make more than the $36k base example he used throughout the book. So it was good, and I’ll do what he says, but dear lord, can we just live in the woods and harvest berries.
This book basically sums up everything basic about money they should have taught us in high school so that we'd be more financially prepared now. I like how Alexander makes things sound really simple and easy- like anyone can get rich and to some extent I think he's right. I also like how he adds a little touch of manifestation. Believing you will be rich/successful will only help you do things that will steer you on that path and I that's the main thing he's trying to teach young adults through his book.
had some pretty motivational, uplifting stuff about life and money. loved dale's emphasis on community care and how giving hope to others brings you hope too
but I only read - or skimmed rather through most of this book just to answer questions for my econ class. so there's stuff I didn't understand or care to understand. but it was still a more pleasant read than I expected
