Life is not going well for Halliwell Daveirós. She's in heavy debt, still dealing with her mother's death, and she's about to lose her job. When her loser boyfriend is hauled off to jail, it feels like hitting rock bottom, until out of nowhere she receives a phone call informing her she's inherited a house from her estranged grandmother.
Selling the house seems like the perfect solution to all of her problems, but it also means returning to Harley Street, a place her mother whisked her away from 16 years ago for reasons she took to the grave. Immersed in a world of lesbian witches, magic and sex, Halliwell struggles to rid herself of a cursed property, while her infatuation for Fyla, the childhood best friend she left behind, rapidly grows.
As hidden powers and forgotten urges awaken, Halliwell begins to suspect that her return was not a coincidence, and Harley Street has secrets of its own. Something threatens the community; time is running out, and if Halliwell cannot confront her past and undo what was done 16 years ago, she will lose the woman she's falling in love with forever.
This story intertwines romance with modern day fantasy, and has a guaranteed happily ever after.
Hey! I'm Sarah Swan and I write lesbian romance novels (both historical and contemporary,) which focus on strong characters who often have to overcome challenging obstacles.
I love stories which have little twists and intriguing plots, but HEAs are always guaranteed in my novels.
A little about my life; I have no pets, but I do have three children who keep me very busy when I'm not writing. I was born in South Shields, UK, but I currently live in the Channel Islands.

The main character was insufferable and the chemistry between her and the love interest was non-existent. The dialogue was also insufferable and the book seemed to drone on while I was screaming in my head for the author to just get to the plot points already. Usually I am fine with tons of space spent on world-building and character development but both were done so poorly here I couldn't stand it. I would say it was boring but I spent most of the time annoyed and dissatisfied which broke up the monotony. I wanted a brainless paranormal queer romance so my expectations weren't high but this managed to sink below my already low standards. I highly recommend passing on this one.
This was rlly good!! I just found it when searching for random sapphic kindle books and it was a fun read! The world building is rlly cool and unique and I rlly enjoyed reading it. I get where people are coming from when calling Halliwell annoying, but she grew on me. Howeverrrr, loved Fyla. And the cover art of her 🫨🫨🫨she’s so🥰🥰 I’m excited to read the second one!!
The story begins with Halliwell having a rough time at it, her boyfriend Matt was telling her lies and deceiving her. She had a thing for her boss, but lost her job due to her not being able to get to work on time. It was always tied to her boyfriend who was unreliable.
Halliwell was contacted by a lawyer to let her know her grandmother left her a house and she needed to go there and see the home.
Hal’s life begins to come crashing down all of a sudden, it seems to be one bad situation after the other.
The instant chemistry between Hal and Fyla is unreal. Hal feels something . Hal wanted to sell the house and get out of town.
Halliwell felt like she could not hold her life together , she drove to the house and everyone on the block was weird to Hal. After reading the letter her grandmother wrote she was angry and upset with her grandmother
There is a lot going on in the story , Hal ‘s felt like she had no family, but the people on the block were everything she had been searching for. Fyla loved Hal’s she was her soulmate. The woman of her dreams maybe?
This was a unique story, that I really enjoyed. I really like stories with magic at this moment, so it was nice to find the book on kindle unlimited. My first time reading this author. Very interesting. 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is an interesting journey though the world of magic, Haliwell is living in the outside world unaware she is a powerful witch.what follows is a fantastic book that deals with love, loss and a whole lot of magic enjoy because I did!!!!. Thank you Ms Swan more like this one please
This book was brilliantly done in so many ways. I liked that the main character was clearly flawed and not overly lovable from the get, though I was still rooting for her to get herself together and come out on top. She had growing to do, and as the reader, I got to watch as she did it. The romance didn't take over the rest of the story, yet it was integral, and darker than I expected. I've read a lot of romance, and a lot of paranormal stories, most with a wlw theme. When I say a lot, I mean probably all together in the upper hundreds. Maybe over a thousand. So when I say finding British lesbian fiction that is genuinely dark and gritty and not solely romcom or drama, is a rarity I'm not just blowing smoke, but this one managed it, but still has that classic Brit fic vibe of not taking itself too seriously. I'll be following this author for sure.
I thought this was going to be a rip off of Charmed (the original) in a way but it was more of blend of Charmed and maybe Hollaweentown... Regardless I enjoyed it and felt the main character was annoying but likable at the same time and the secrets, my god the secrets, felt endless but in a good way.
I want to say I hope there is another in the serious but I'm not sure if I want to ruin the perfect ending this one gave
Halliwell is a woman who is having major problems. She's in debt, her boyfriend is hauled off to jail, she's still dealing with the death of her mother and she ends up losing her job.
Then she gets a call from a lawyer that she is going to inherit and estate what she apparently used to live in but has virtually no memories of that period of her life.
Theoretically that should help her a lot. But, not so much. Seems like she is a witch who is living in an area with other witches. There's rules to follow that she doesn't necessarily understand, Some of the people near her are really nice, some not so much.
To make things even way worse, she's a Nethergard. This means she is to protect a portal and it means she can actually absorb dark magic which causes problems of its own. She also meets a really nice young witch.
Which leads to other problems. She's supposed to get the gate open somehow, Matt shows up to cause major trouble and it seems she could lose her position.
In other words a whole lot of problems for her. The book covers all of these an how she attempts to deal with them. It's really an interesting story of a person trying to deal with numerous problems and yet at the same time adapt to whole different reality from what she is used to. Quite good.
I wish I dnfed it early on. The main character is insufferable. Whiny, unreliable and judgmental. For example she shows up to work late everyday and is shocked and angry at her boss for firing her. She was a veterinary assistant and they couldn't do surgeries bc of her absence, mind you. Also, she's terrible to her cat. She spends half of the book mad at people for not telling her anything, but the way she's acting explains why nobody trusts her with the truth. I also hated how in a sapphic story, one of the fmcs spends 150+ pages in a relationship with a man. And when she finally gets a female love interest, it's very insta lovey and lackluster. I found the plot intriguing, but not enough to make me ignore how unlikable the characters were. I won't be reading the second book!
Jumping from a fantastical sapphic dream to “Matt who can’t pay the bills” literally made me want to vomit. Home girl is a wreck being job hopping, being hated by animals, and cheating on her boyfriend.
This book has a lot of backstory revealed at the end, which completely changes the feel from fiction to fantasy. The love interest Fyla is a bit too perky to be a realistic character, but that’s fine because she’s not on the page a lot. While I wish she had more on-page time, her essence is woven into the story.
Overall, this is a well written paranormal romance with likable, well drawn characters. The pacing bogs down a bit in the middle, but I'm glad I hung in there because once things finally started to be revealed, it was very original and really well done. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance with a bit of mystery and magic.
Wow I was so drawn into this story. I honestly could figure out where everything was going. This made the story even more interesting for me! Wish there was a 2nd book. I need more of my witch girlies!
A great book with storyline that is hard to put down. Characters that are easy to relate and fight for. Fantasy and action filled with great dialogues.
I really wanted to like this book. Witches, lesbians....yes please. But the main character was so unlikeable and the writing was mediocre. Disappointed.
Halliwell and Fyla. The unusual thing about this is that they don’t actually physically meet until nearly at the end of the book. Every other interaction between them is in dreams or supernaturally. This is rather like Charmed meets Harry Potter. Even some of the names are similar to the original Charmed. It is much more a supernatural adventure than a romance, and I loved it for that. There are many twists in the plot, but it all works well. It’s about loyalty to your natural family and your chosen family. The one loose end that I thought would be explained (and maybe would explain more about Halliwell’s power) is the identity of her father. But perhaps that’s for a later story… Most certainly worth reading if it floats your boat.
