This book was a compilation of essays written in honour of Francis and Edith Schaeffer, on the 50th anniversary of L’Abri in England. The essays presumed that the reader was well acquainted with both L’Abri and the writings of Francis Schaeffer, which thankfully I am. The general trend of the essays was to first admit that Schaeffer was a flawed (not perfect) human, but still had wonderful qualities which would be highlighted since the purpose of the essays was to honour the Schaeffers. Then they all proceeded to outline those areas where the Schaeffers made their most significant contribution. The common thread was Francis’ significant contribution in encouraging Christians to engage their hearts and heads in the real world, with the ammunition and confidence that the Christian world view has by far the best answers for the world we live in. Recommended for those who liked the writing of Francis Schaeffer and likely a waste of time for those who have not read Schaeffer (or didn’t like what he wrote).
