Blurred Lines: The Monster

Rate this book
Multiple lines are blurred when a homicide detective falls in love with a grieving mother who has taken matters into her own hands.

*** Excerpt ***

“This some Dr. Jekyll and Mrs. Hyde shit,” DC commented when she was gone.

Kelli laughed at that. It was a real laugh. It did his heart good to see it, made him think that maybe she wasn’t so weird after all.

Thirty minutes later, he began to rethink that.

While Kelli was eating and drinking now and engaging him in conversation, her level of distraction was equal to what it had been at Bar Louie’s. Finally, DC looked over his shoulder, saw nothing out of the norm, and confronted her.

“Is somebody over there flirting with you? You into white guys – is that why you wanted to come here?”

He met her eyes. Hers were as serious as ever. He sensed a shift in the energy at their table. He hoped that would translate to her being honest with him.

“I’m sorry I haven’t been honest with you,” she said, all smiles and pretense gone now. “I’ll tell you why we’re here. If you decide to leave, that’s cool. To be honest, I probably would, if I was you...”

Frowning, he said, “We’re not here for our date?”

“Yes, but there was something else I needed to do tonight. I know it’s wrong, but I thought I could do both at the same time. I see that I was wrong, and I shouldn’t have drug you into this.”

DC’s brows furrowed. He didn’t know how to respond to that, so he said nothing.

“My daughter died one year ago,” Kelli told him. “She was murdered. The police haven’t arrested anyone, but they have the killer’s DNA – he left it on my daughter. They haven’t named a suspect, but I have. Actually, I have a few. One of them is sitting over there.” She gestured slightly with her eyes. Before her date freaked, she told him, “You can look, but don’t stare at him.”

DC glanced in the direction she was facing and saw nearly two dozen people.

A mad man is going around and assaulting and unaliving little girls. Kelli's daughter was one of the victims a year ago. Since she feels the police are not solving the case, she's taking it upon herself to find out who is doing it. The police department ends up putting Detective Damien Greene on the task force to see if someone can stop this maniac. While working on the case, the two end up falling for each other.

This was a pretty good story with several twists and turns sprinkled through out. I was shocked several times and enjoyed the story very much.

Mystery and Suspense

Someone is kidnapping, sexualy assaulting and killing little girls between the ages of 8-10 years old. It looks like there is a serial killer is the suspect.
Kelli's daughter Kandice was found dead over a year ago and so far no one has been arrested. Homicide Detective Damien Green has been reassigned to take over the task force investigation of the girls victims.
I must say the author's storyline plot and characters were well developed. My attention was held from the very beginning until the end which was a plot twist that was unexpected in the end.
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I look forward to reading other books by him
I highly recommend this book to read especially if you enjoy reading mystery and suspense with a little plot twist.

Hyper-intensive Story

The Detective and the Lady. I knew once I started reading this story, it would be intense. A suspense story with a touch of romance is how I described this one. A crafty detective was tasked with finding a murderer of young girls. In the process, one of the victim's parents will be pivotal to the motives for cracking the case. I figured out the other mystery in the plot and the unlikely helper early on, and I was correct. The theme of kids being abducted made this story intense. The care in telling the story made it not so difficult to read. In the end, the detective gets his man, and the world still spins. The love story was the sweet part. 4.75 stars....

Keith Thomas Walker Returns With a Vengeance!

The last story I read by this author was Evan's Heart published in 2020. It was a sweet love story about a heart patient and his nurse. Now, two years later I pick up Blurred Lines. Trust me, fans, there is nothing sweet about this story. I can't even label the hero, Damien (Homicide Detective) and the heroine,Kelli (Beekeeper)-- Ha! as "Sweet". If you are looking for a straight up suspenseful page turner, this is the book for you. The title says it all!
I recommend this story for your reading pleasure. Now, mind you, it's gritty and the author pulls no punches. But that makes it a good read. The Epilogue is unforgettable. II

Suspense with a good twist

Oh my goodness! I was not expecting such an excellent crime/suspense book. Once I started reading I could not stop. I plan to find all other books I have missed reading by this author to see if there are any more like this. Kelli Warren is a tenacious amateur sleuth extraordinaire, for all the wrong heartbreaking reasons. Detective Green is just as tenacious and together they look for a most heinous monster. There are some unexpected twists and turns that might have you biting your nails, squeezing your glutes, and clapping your hands the closer you get to the end. I can definitely these two with a series, for sure.

This is a must read if you like good crime story with a dash of love and sexy.

😱😱😱😱😱😱

I normally don’t read mystery thrillers……but whew Chile…..when I first started this book I wasn’t entirely sure about it like I didn’t get how everything related to each other. But that’s exactly what the author wanted you to think! I been glued to my kindle every chance I got after The story started to unfold. I had goosebumps to the point I even had to stop reading cause I was so anxious. I swear this should have been an episode of Law and Order SVU. I absolutely loved the writing style, and the plot twist was everything. I HIGHLY recommend reading this book here.

Welcome back Mr. Walker! I knew that this story would be intense, and boy was it! I was wary of Kelli right from the beginning, as her behavior was so odd. I get you want justice for your baby, but you out here being reckless! As the story moved along, we meet Damien. A young, smart detective, who I knew was sure would crack this case. Then, there were roadblocks, inconsistencies and sooooo many questions about how the investigation was progressing. I thought for sure that DC was the "monster" abducting these girls, and was floored when I found out who was involved! 🤯 Really good read! 👍👍👍

Great storyline

I think I just read an episode of Law and Order SVU! The writing was so detailed I could see everything in my head. The detectives and their personalities were spot on making this such a believable read. And the twists - well a couple of them just made my jaw drop. And I liked that because I was so engaged with the story I didn't want to think ahead. Great storyline and great writing.

Shocked

I've been a reader of Mr. Walkers work, from his first novel. This one had be going in circles, it also had me questioning how close this was to what happens in real life.? Can we trust the people who are paid to protect us?

Could Not Put The Book Down

The story was gripping, sad, and frightening. I wanted to buy new locks and a more sophisticated alarm system. Kelly’s character was so emotional yet cold hearted in her pursuit she worried me. Damien was driven, his drive gave him mental clarity and then energy to solve the case and clear the blurred lines..

Keith had the strength to broach a subject that most authors shy away from.
He and his wife really entertained Black Pearls keepin it Real Bookclub and we had a vibrant meeting at Cafe Nubia African restaurant.
I had to read the sequel and could not get enough.

This story has you guessing, who’s the good guy, who’s the bad guy. Is the good guy bad, is the bad guy good? I love the way Keith tells a story.

As Always

As always you did a great job with this very depressing subject. Truly every parent's worst fear. Would love to read a book about Daniel's next case.
