Apologize. Yeah, that’s what I was told. I have to apologize… To the multibillionaire I contradicted in front of the world’s press.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. That’s what they say. In my defense, my suggestion he adopt a fake fiancée wasn’t me volunteering for the role. I only went up there to apologize, how did I walk away engaged to the CEO?
I have a coach to get me through it. A woman who knows what it is to be involved with a man in my boss’s league. Her first and most crucial piece of advice? Don’t fall for him.
Easy. At least, that’s what I think until he kisses me. All we’re supposed to do is convince his ex she has no chance of winning him back. That doesn’t mean I have to live with him, share his bed, or get naked with him… How come I end up doing all three?
It doesn’t matter, so long as I heed Roxie’s don’t fall for him. I’m not worried. Soon it will be over, and I’ll be free. There’s no chance of falling for him. None… Right?
Contains explicit language and imagery. Suitable only for ages 18 and over. **HEA STANDALONE**
Writing has always been a big part of my life. Since I was a child I've known exactly where my passion lay. No matter what's gone on in my life writing has been my touchstone. After all, we all need a place to escape to. Reading is my idea of heaven. There's nothing I like more than to switch everything off, close the bedroom door, and curl up with a good book. I have a feeling that's something all at Goodreads can identify with.
Thanks for taking the time with me today. Now do something for yourself, go and curl up in your own reading heaven.
The premise of this book was ridiculous; Reid, who was supposed to be this brilliant businessman, couldn’t come up with a way on his own to fend off his ex-fiancée who wanted to reconcile. He wanted to do a business deal with her father and didn’t want to offend him. Someone else had to come up with the idea of faking an engagement to another woman.
After he agreed to it, it didn’t occur to him that he actually had to spend time with the woman he was supposed to be engaged to and get to know her. Someone else (who didn’t even know his ex) had to point out to him that his ex was very smart and wouldn’t be fooled unless it was obvious that he and his new fiancée knew each other well and were completely comfortable with each other. 🙄🙄🙄

I loved the basic plotline. I loved the female main character. The reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is that, for me, it was too drawn out. The pace was too slow for me. I found myself skipping whole chapters just so the plot would move forward. Also, I am not into the whole master-sub trope, so I skipped parts where she started saying Please, Sir. Otherwise the book was well written and if you like the more slow moving romantic plots you will probably enjoy the book.
Merci and Matt—she’s an opinionated HR rep at his company. And in order to throw off his former fiancée to win the bid on her father’s company, they become fake-engaged. And then she does the unforgivable—falls head over heels in love with him. When things start to fall apart at his company because the ex decides to try to take down the company if she can’t have him, Merci breaks up with him and goes with Roxie and Zairn to their island for a Crimson event. And then she resigns from the company. So Matt comes to get her and refuses to accept her resignation…and get started on their HEA.

I'm absolutely in love with this book and it's characters Merci and Reid 😍 Their story is one that will make you smile ☺ it will also make you want to slap one of the characters for their antics. Scarlett has never failed to write a book that I haven't fully devoured in a day, because I just can't put it down, this book is no different it's addictive 😍😍😍
Merci & Matteo. I didn’t feel a strong connection to Merci. I like that she speaks her mind. Matteo’s domineering personality is also fine. I still like both characters, but not as much as Roxie & Zairn.
This isn’t a bad story. The characters are interesting enough, as is the plot. However, personally there was just something missing. It seemed to drag on too much for my liking. Having said that, this is only my view. People will need to, make up their own minds.
Completely not what I expected - truly. I expected a page-flipper, to fill the gap on the tracking calendar til the end of a quarter, something entirely lacking substance. i was wrong. Try it.
Great writing, really enjoyed readrthis, couldn't put it down, really reached out and caught my attention, the plot was just steamy to keep you laughing,
Hot, steamy and fun romance between Personnel employee Merci Moore and billionaire Matteo (Matt) Reid. She is supposed to go apologize for speaking up during his executive announcement but it somehow ends in them agreeing to a fake engagement! Totally enjoyed Roxies and her Billionaire mate’s (likely earlier story) part in this. Madyline is quite the villain.
