Rate this book
In 2025, Crystal Francois survived the demonic possession of Mastema and his twenty-four shapeshifter demons. Her friends saved her by creating a new amethyst stone locking up the Lazurkismurma demons for eternity. All was well till evil unfolded when six-year-old Christopher mysteriously found the hidden rock, causing mayhem to everyone around him. Twenty years later, after that terrifying ordeal, it's the year 2045 in Catskills, New York, where Christopher Alastor Warwick has no memory or recollection of that horrific day as a little boy. Living out the remainder of his childhood and teenage life free from the demonic stone, he begins his second year of college at Castle Hill Prep. He starts to inquire about his biological father, Jason, who passed away before he was born. Christopher embarks on a deadly quest, feeling resentment towards his mother for keeping his family history a secret. At the same time, his University becomes the main focus in the media when a horrific event sends the peaceful suburban town of Catskills into a frenzy, causing an unexpected reunion. With the closing of Lakeview Falls's 20th anniversary coming up, a young, high-profile new mayor from Sunrise Caper demands to reopen the town for lower-class families. His plan to create the American dream might come with severe consequences if every demonic entity makes its way home again to destroy humankind.

Just finished reading 'Christopher's Curse', book 3 in the fantastic 'Brother's Curse' Saga so let me declare that Christine M. Germain is a golden Goddess and the 3rd installment, is officially her jewel laced crown.

The story perfectly brings together the events of the previous two books and unfolds in the year 2045 (20 years after the horrific events happening in the previous books) in Catskills, New York, where Christopher Alastor Warwick begins his second year of college at Castle Hill Prep.

Having no recollection of the previous horrific events that ultimately influenced his and the lives of thousands of people, he seeks answers about his deceased biological father whilst being resentful towards his mother for the secrecy surrounding their family's history.

As the story rapidly untangles, events surrounding Catskills and Lakeview Falls take on a dark turn.
A horrific event at Christopher's University shocks Catskills and sets events in motion for an unexpected reunion while at the same time the efforts of an overachiever mayor for reopening Lakeview Falls, stir the pot for dangerous events to unfold, as what lies buried underneath the rubble and sands of time is awaiting for the opportunity to arise, slay and enslave humanity...

What follows is a high octane, thrill-ride of a supernatural adventure thriller, shrouded in mystery and plot twists that will keep you nailed on your reading seat devouring page after page (and believe me there are a lot of pages to satisfy that hunger).

New and beloved old characters, more mystery and action with an even tighter plot that manages to integrate the essence of the first two offerings into the stories portrayed in the 3rd book.

What is truly amazing, is that the author manages to upgrade an already perfect story from the previous books and taking it to a whole new level, making the trilogy an essential horror/supernatural adventure/thriller read.

Beautifully crafted, diverse characters from multicultural ethnic backgrounds make this book an excellent and exciting reading experience. Some characters you will love and some you will hate, some you will wish dead; some will devastate you but ultimately all of them dance like marionettes to the perfectly orchestrated penmanship of Christine M Germain.

The author has the ability to create, and expand with every release, a great world in which the characters win, lose, die and get tormented in a battle with and against unspeakable evil only to succumb to or emerge victorious.

Another fantastic literary offering and the jewel of the trilogy crown by an excellent and extremely promising writer.
Still in awe, I'm giving the author a standing ovation as we speak.

Hold onto your seats, because Christopher’s Curse is one wild, spine-chilling ride that will have you reading well past midnight! 😳Christine Germain raises the stakes in this third installment, weaving dark secrets, supernatural terror, and shocking twists that will leave you breathless. I can’t go too far into detail as I like to provide a spoiler-free review
There’s something hauntingly captivating about a story that dances with danger, and Christopher’s Curse does just that. The supernatural tension and gothic vibes sucked me in from the very first page. Honestly, I thought I could predict where the story was going, but Christine had me second-guessing everything! 🙌🏾The "just one more chapter" struggle is real with this one! And that cliffhanger? I was screaming for Book 4! 😱
This book explores the terrifying legacy of the Brother’s Curse as the past unravels with deadly consequences, and it feels like Hell itself has arrived. Germain’s vivid world-building and gripping atmosphere pulls you right into the middle of the chaos, where every shadow hides danger—and you can’t look away.
Christopher’s Curse is packed with suspense, heart-stopping twists, and a dash of dark romance to keep things spicy. The family secrets, tension between characters, and unpredictable twists make this a MUST for fans of supernatural thrillers. 🔥🔥🔥

In The Brother’s Curse Saga, Crystal Francois returns to Lakeview Falls only to become possessed by Mastema and his twenty-four shapeshifter demons. It takes the efforts of Crystal’s friends and family to save her. In the end Crystal is saved by creating an amethyst stone which captures the Lazurkismurma demons and puts an end to the horrors which ravaged Lakeview Falls. Until Crystal’s six-year-old son, Christopher, finds the stone and mayhem ensues.

Christopher’s Curse starts off steady, cleverly introducing us to the offspring of the Lazurkismurma demons and the town of Lakeview Falls. We learn the Government stepped in and deemed Lakeview Falls unsafe for anyone to live. Now, twenty years later, at the urging of the ambitious Mayor Cocks, a proposal is put forth before the Senate to reopen Lakeview Falls. Christine did an amazing job creating a town with a diabolical pulse. Much like BTVS’ Sunnydale, Lakeview Falls is a character all its own.

After a devastating tragedy befalls the family, Crystal and Christopher, now college aged, have a falling out. It’s no coincidence that as the Senate votes to reopen Lakeview Falls their lives begin to drastically unravel. Their fates are tethered to the evil of Lakeview Falls in a most profound way. You can’t help but feel extremely sorry for Crystal. At one point she herself questions her circumstances, “Why does evil keep finding me? Why can’t it just leave me and my family alone?”

But evil has a vengeful plan, and when an anonymous person sends Christopher a gift that brings his curse to fruition, Castle Hill Prep and the new residents of Lakeview Falls don’t stand a chance.

Christine is a very descriptive writer who never disappoints when it comes to writing beautiful scenic views, the angst, loyalty and humor of relatable characters, as well as the gore and twists which leave you with your mouth hanging open.

From the cover to the carefully crafted chapter titles, Christine has created an engaging conclusion to The Brother’s Curse Saga. I am a forever fan of hers and The Brother’s Curse series!

Once again Christine brings the terror, fear and drama in the third book of the Brother’s Curse Saga. Moments of gore mixed in with suspense work together for a fast-paced thriller that feels like a tv series! I’m talking Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Supernatural vibes.

Christine is known for surprises, so naturally I knew I was in for some shocking moments. If you’re a fan of paranormal romance, you will be delighted. I feel like out of the 3 books, this one has the most romance.

I always love the design of Christine’s book and her clever chapter titles. Also, her setting always stands out. Lakeview Falls is a spooky, nefarious town with supernatural creatures lurking around every corner. Perfect for that Halloween vibe we all love.

I really enjoyed the different story arcs. Christine’s shapeshifter world is full of characters with different personalities. Some you will adore and others you may loathe. It was cool to revisit with characters from the past two books as well. Fair warning, don’t fall in love with any of the characters, because you never know who will get skinned alive.

Christopher’s Curse will pull on your heart strings, get you all in the feels, disgust you, and frighten your socks off. I’m trying my hardest to keep this spoiler free so, if you enjoy paranormal romance, horror, suspense and strong characters, pick up the Brother’s Curse and jump down the Lakeview falls rabbit hole.

Oh and how could I forget, I love love love the witchcraft and voodoo throughout this book and series. Well researched and I love to see witches represented in a positive light.

This is book three of The Brother’s Curse Saga and takes place some twenty years after events of the first two. The town of Lakeview Falls was closed after those evil events of 2025 and all the killing that took place there, with the government having agreed to never allow it to be reopened ever again. Now an enthusiastic Mayor of the town of Sunrise Caper, California, has pushed for the town to be reopened, so he can build his dream town and move all of his residents there for a better life. Mayor Benjamin Cocks is funding everything for his residents for the first five years, from housing, schooling, and all the amenities his residents could need. He has renamed all the streets, taking away the former road names that were all a bit graphic and off putting. He has spent his own money on building everything as well as funding it all, along with his skilful fiancé Abigale, who is an excellent realtor. Crystal Pheiffer’s son Christopher, who was fathered by one of the sons of the demon Mastema, Jason Warwick, is now at college with his cousin Carlos Mills. Jason had fallen in love with Crystal and lost his immortality, and he died to help save Crystal and his unborn son. Christopher (19) has been raised far away from Lakeview Falls, with the only man he ever knew as his father, John, and his younger siblings, JJ (17) and Catalina (4), with their mother Crystal. Unfortunately John has been in a coma for a month and although he suddenly wakes up one day, he is dead shortly after. The possible reasons for his sudden death, go back twenty years to the events of her birthday on thirty first of October, 2025.

Christopher has been asking his mother questions about his past and who his actual father was, which she is reluctant to tell him, having tried to put the events of two decades ago behind her. She and her friends lost lots of friends and family during the massacre that happened and moved far away afterwards. Christopher seems to be acting out and doesn’t even turn up to John’s funeral and it all coincides with the gift of a ring he received at his dorm room. Someone clearly knows who he truly is and has sent it deliberately, as it has part of the crystal that was in the necklace Crystal was given by her aunt all those years ago and who Jason’s father Mastema was after, to enable him and his soldier demons to be released from the stone! Now Christopher has turned demonic and when Carlos asks him to accompany him as he pledges at a fraternity house, he commits his first mass massacre, but not his first murder whilst at the college! Not much is seen of him after that, but his mother and friends find out about Lakeview Falls beign reopened and realise that is where he is heading and they need to stop him, by getting the ring off him. Crystal hopes she can get her son back, like she did when he was a child and Cain brought the stone to her house and Christopher touched it by accident. People from past events join with Crystal and her friends, whilst Harley and Cain are joined by his great grandma Madame Magdaline Pierre, and all make their way to Lakeview Falls, hoping to stop Christopher before everyone in the town is at risk from him.

Mayor Cocks benefactor and supporter in reopening the town is Congressman Forte, of Washington, D.C., who has his own links to the past of the town and has kept it all hidden from Benjamin. All the stories of the town and what happened to it twenty years ago and in the decades before, have been removed from the web and from most news articles. Some absolutely graphic scenes of murder and mayhem follow, as Christopher makes it to town and even though Crystal tries to warn the mayor of the danger everyone in the town is in, he ignores it all, not willing to allow his plan to be ruined for any reason! Nobody is safe, not even Christopher’s mother, birth father, or even his brother JJ. He has become so much stronger than the demons they have faced in the past and it seems like it could be impossible to stop him. The ancient Madam Pierre puts most of her trust in Cain, to do what he should have done all those years ago, but there are a couple of demons they hadn’t know about, who have had years to make their plans for the town and the ready made sacrifices they have as a ready food source for their evil. Some very graphic killings scenes and more in the story, which is a bit longer than it probably needed to be, with a few twists at the end which bring a few surprises about those responsible for the ring and the town beign reopened, when it was known to be so dangerous! You have to wait and see who might survive, as many get into silly and dangerous situations. The end of the saga is as gruesome as the start and not for the light of heart, as the consequences of the past continue to create havoc and death in the cursed town.

I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

We left The Brother’s Curse book with a serious cliffhanger that transitions into the third book really well. (Highly recommend reading the series in order.)

Christopher’s Curse starts with an introduction to the Gargoyle demons, who are the offsprings of Lazurkismurma; we get to know more about Jason Warwick (born October 31st, 1825); and lastly we learn about the tragic history of Lakeview Falls.

When we first meet Crystal, she is entering a clinical center in Catskills NY, in 2045. She visits a patient with cold and lifeless eyes. She has no idea as to what caused her husband, John, to be in such a vegetative state. Crystal, who is a mother of 19-year-old Christopher, 17-year-old JJ, and 14-year-old Catalina, doesn’t know what to do, since her husband seems physically healthy otherwise.

(In a flashback, we also see how a very important and dark event that happened 14 years ago to Christopher and how difficult it was to help him, though he has no memory of this.)

As if Crystal is not dealing with enough heartbreak, she watches the news only to learn about how the government is going to reopen Lakeview Falls, thanks to a man from California, Mayor Benjamin Cocks who pushes for this. Even if no one else wants to see that “Killer town” come back to life.

Meanwhile, Christopher is in college at Castle Hill Prep University and has a loving girlfriend, Samantha. Everything seems to be going well for him, except for this feeling he has whenever he is home. He wants to know more about the town, where his mom grew up yet she won’t talk about it. A town no one wants to mention. Lakeview Falls. Home of the grave.

Author Christine Germain weaves many threads masterfully. We see mayhem unfold shortly after Christopher receives a gift–a rare looking jewelry–sent to him anonymously. Now a new evil nightmare is upon both Castle Hill Prep and Lakeview Falls. One with a genius plan. One who knows exactly what to do to achieve its goal–torment and suffering.

We meet with favorite characters from previous books and get to know a whole new cast of diverse ones. I also enjoyed the many twists I didn't see coming. And that ending!!! This book is a fantastic addition to The Brother’s Curse Saga. I highly recommend it for fans of dark paranormal stories.

Prepare yourself for the wild ride that is "The Brothers curse sage" by Christine M. Germain!

We're talking shapeshifting demons, an amethyst necklace of doom, and a heroine named Crystal who's got some tough decisions to make.

Will she save the day or take the ultimate fashion risk and kick the bucket for a necklace? Decisions, decisions!

This book isn't just a novel; it's an energy force to be reckoned with.

The plot is so detailed and realistic that you'll start side-eyeing your own jewelry collection.

Plus, there's a perfect blend of humor to keep you laughing through the horror.

The characters? Oh, they're as unpredictable as the weather on a spring day.

John and Trey are the real MVPs, showing us what true love and heroism look like.

And don't even get me started on the writing style - it's so smooth, it's practically poetic. Trust me, this book cover tells you everything you need to know: buckle up and get ready for a literary rollercoaster!

But be warned if you’re squeamish tread with caution.

it’s packed full of gore, which I like.

I must say, this book is a truly captivating and beautifully written piece. The diverse and intriguing characters make for an exciting and page-turning experience. The third installment of the Brother's Curse Saga is packed with thrilling suspense, drama, romance, and supernatural creatures. Additionally, the story continues 15 years later, which adds an intriguing element to the plot. The fast-paced nature of this book is simply mesmerizing, as I found myself completely engrossed and unable to put it down. mesmerizing, as I found myself completely engrossed and unable to put it down.

Christopher's Curse is by far my favorite in the series. The stakes are high and so many things happen that it's so hard not to spoil. This 3rd book follows a now older Christopher who has no recollection of what disaster he caused at the end of Book 2. He is now in college and moving on with his life until he receives a ring that turns his life upside down.

This story was freaking CRAZY!!!!!!!!! I loved every single page. The author is absolutley terrific and her writing is amazing. the story is immersive and the characters have grown in ways that you want to protect all of them.

The ending had me in tears. like wtf??? What the hell happened? Crystal is now back in time? I can't wait to read book 4 Fazarell.

4.5/5 SCREAMING

The Brother's Curse Saga is becoming my new favorite series. Christine M Germain is the type of author that writes amazing characters that you will fall in love with and then the wildest thing will happen them and the world they live in. No one is safe. What's great about how this book was written is that although there is a significant time jump, Germain still writes in the events that happened right after book two, The Curse The Stone of Mastema.

Christopher's Curse is a different feel from the previous books. It's not as heavily action packed but more suspenseful/thriller based. You think that gives you a breather from the grotesque and macabre? Nope. It will hit you at the end and the end will have you SCREAMING. I am so excited to see where this series is going. Germain is a fantastic writer. I will always and highly recommend this series.

I want to start by saying I absolutely hate Christopher 😭 Like I don’t know if he’s a redeemable character for me. I keep trying to remind myself he wasn’t really himself at the time but that’s having zero impact on my feelings towards him right now LOL

Crystal is my girl but she was being a little hypocritical at times. Jason wasn’t always a stand up guy but it wasn’t really all of his fault. He literally died to save Crystal and their unborn child. He also went through hell and back to try and redeem himself although he felt that a lot of things he did were unforgivable. The same way Crystal destroyed a whole damn town when she was possessed by Mastema.

Dean was the most hated character for me besides Christopher. I couldn’t stand him. Every time he opened his mouth something rude or disrespectful followed. Not to mention he was just downright racist sometimes. I was literally counting his days while reading 😭😭😭 It sounds horrible but to know Dean is to hate him.

The ending literally had my jaw to the floor. I honestly don’t know how to feel 😫 I have sooooo many questions. Where the hell is Kura? Did Derrek and Abigail survive? Is Carlos really gone? I will be impatiently waiting for Book four 😩😩

Crystal’s anger increases; raging mad, she wants to rip -----’s head off for the heartache he’s caused her and Christopher. She knows if she fights back, her chances of survival are slim, to none, especially at the hands of an immortal shapeshifter."

🔮This book picks up about 15 years past book 2, Crystal is middle aged with two teens and a 4 year old. Christopher, her eldest is leading a normal life despite his demonic episode as a toddler.

⚠️However, not all is all right, Crystal's husband and father to her two younger kids is in a weird vegetative state, regardless of normal brain scans.

🎁When Christopher gets a mysterious package at his dorm, sender unknown, with a ring inside, he's going to wish he had never put it on. Deadly events unfold that ultimately see the main cast of characters plus new ones back in Lakeview Falls, where Mayor Benjamin Cocks has recently reopened the town with such an evil history.

💀Get ready because evil will reign again. A character dies that I truly loved 😭 No character is safe!

😈If you like evil children, demons, gory endings and humor in horror THIS is for you! Highly recommend!

Christine Germain did not disappoint with her third installment to her series. She added the horror of relatable characters that has come back years later to the characters you know and love throughout the series with the introduction of more new and interesting ones as well. Hell has found it’s way back home and takes no prisoners as the shapeshifters wreck havoc. This book made me fall in love with her work more than I already have, leaving the readers with an ending that will have you begging for more.
