Also known as 矢吹 健太朗. He is a Japanese manga artist. His mentor was Takeshi Obata, the illustrator of Death Note, Hikaru no Go and Bakuman. Yabuki is best known for his series Black Cat which ran from 2000 to 2004 in Weekly Shōnen Jump and later adapted into an anime. Since 2004, he has only been working as illustrator to works written by other authors. Most notably on the series To Love-Ru alongside his former assistant Saki Hasemi.
The ending was fine, if not rushed. At least Zero Two and Hiro get a good chunk of time in this one. The fan service is the same in this one. I would have enjoyed seeing a little of what happens after the big battle but the open ended nature of this ending does leave things open to discussion. This could have been a lot better if given more space to develop and the pages used for all the fan service replaced with story sequences.
The ending just feels so loose and not well put together, I don't know I was just kind of bored. This book has the same problems as the rest like undeveloped characters, undeveloped friendships, repetitive story beats, uninteresting plot twists or direction and just a lack of oomph. I feel like I'm particularly critical about these things because the anime had more of these things, so I know how well it COULD be. I found myself missing the smaller moments in the show, the personalities they displayed and just how more connected everything felt. I know this and the anime are a little different, but I think in that regard they just stripped a lot of the likable qualities from the characters and the plot. I don't really have much to say because it was just kind of boring and I had a hard time taking really anything from it. Alternative ending was okay I guess, I don't really like either ending, but again, it was just missing that oomph, to dumb down the whole series it's just that, missing that oomph
Better ending the anime? The entire series felt so rushed that all the character development from the anime was one chopped in half. Also it just ended like I’m fine with open ended endings but the anime wrapped up the character arcs a thousand times better even if the overall ending was terrible. Would I have enjoyed this more if I read this at like 15 when I watched the show? Prolly not. Did I enjoy this as a grown ass man? Eh?
Honest Jim review 5/10. I would read this again if I was bored but I’m never gonna talk to anyone about this read
Right let me start off by saying there are aspects from both the anime and manga that I preferred over the other. But maybe it's because I'm mainly a manga reader now but I preferred the open ending of this one, it let's me imagine what happens myself, I do usually prefer a proper end but maybe for this series I just see how the anime ended and I really didn't like it. I do think the manga could have been longer. There were aspects the anime had that I feel could have added nicely to the read.
Altogether, it's a fabulous series that I thoroughly enjoyed both times (minus certain parts).
This was neither good nor bad. I don’t see what all the complaints are about with the ending. My biggest complaint is that this story had so much potential but def feels like it was rushed or something. It was ok.
