Casey Stanton wrote in the Introduction of his new ebook, The Fractional Attract, Convert and Serve High-Paying Clients on Your "This book is your roadmap for building a Fractional CMO practice that can generate $500,000 a year or more. That's a half-a-million dollars a year with you working less than 40 hours a week, from anywhere in the world."That "half-a-million dollars a year" figure is what Stanton achieved after he upped his game and figured out the solutions (passed along in his book) to the mistakes he had made as a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). Comments about this book from "Casey's book is a game changer for marketing professionals wanting to make more money in less time." "Turns short-term clients into long lasting relationships built on a foundation of value." "Casey's Fractional CMO Method is simple, smart, and a complete win-win for both you (the Fractional CMO) and your future clients. I can't recommend this book (and Casey's teachings) enough if you're looking for a smart way to work with your future clients." Stanton points out that, if you're an agency owner, marketing director, freelancer, marketing consultant, in-house marketer, or even a VP of marketing, you can follow the steps he lays out and start winning clients that each pay $3,000 to $15,000 a month or more on a recurring basis.
I've been hearing about and seeing the growth of the 'Fractional CMO', and was curious how it came about and what it actually is.
It definitely is a brilliant idea, as it's working well for some. It might end up being the new form and evolution of a marketing leader role in the future that helps companies save cost from hiring senior staff - so they can invest more in the execution that's as important - and allows the fCMO to spread themselves among organisations and make more impact.
This book was easy to follow, but I guess I'm just a bit disappointed at how short it is, while constantly being given a sales pitch to book a call.
I’m an experienced CMO and have done fractional cmo work. My expectations were pretty low but I thought I’d check it out because I got a “buy for $.99 promo”
I was pleasantly surprised as the nuggets of practical ideas that were in here.
Book was a little salesy “click here to work with me!” so I can’t give it a 5.
Chapter one: sell companies on your strategy and leadership Chapter two: leadership is the most important thing Chapter three: delegate and be a good leader Chapter four: pick clients that want your leadership. Chapter five: how to do this with no experience because our program will help you lie about your qualifications.
In between the repetition and back slapping there are some tidbits of valuable knowledge. But many of the points overlap with good leadership books and good marketing books not necessarily niche specific for fCMOs. Ultimately I was incredibly frustrated with the whole idea of anyone, even with zero experience becoming a fCMO. Not because I want to gatekeep but because plenty of people are now adopting this title and eroding trust by diluting the talent pool of people who actually know WTF they are doing. I’ve run into numerous “fractional CMOs” who have never operated at a high level anywhere, solved big problems, or taken any role that requires leadership. Empowering them via an accelerate program and then saying “go get em tiger” basically is setting them AND us up for failure. the CEO that hires them is going to be burned so badly they will never hire another fractional CMO and will probably shit talk them the way most people do about insurance salesmen.
This whole book is the same points on repeat in the most patronizing way. It is the classic banner of “I could do it why wouldn’t you be able to”. With generic flavored advice like delegate to good people, pick a niche, make a system so you don’t have to think, don’t work with clients with no money and make an “authentic” name for yourself.
The last 15% is somewhat valuable but not new.
In case it was unclear, this book is one big marketing push for you to sign up for the CMOx accelerator. Which is the conclusion of the book.
While the book is simply a giant advertisement to sell Casey's coaching company and is written to good effect, there is simplistic value in what is being proposed. This book posits a framework that anything could imagine that doesnt break any major mold.
What it is asking you to do is be a freelance marketing manager. It coaches someone whose never thought about owning a business into thinking it's easy, and through Casey's onboarding and coaching framework, you'll gross $500,000 while the world claps.
I suggest anyone read it who wants to develop skills to be individually more capable. But don't think this will change your career.
This book is very relevant for marketing strategies and processes needed in today’s business environment. Presented are common sense approaches geared toward today’s up and coming marketers. As a former management person, I found that the principles presented could be adapted to other areas of the business (not just marketing). This is especially true of the leadership and accountability ideas that were presented. In total a very relevant book for today’s business environment.
Unreal Step-By-Step Roadmap to Maximizing Your Marketing Machismo
This book provides an incredible framework for the process involved in building your own marketing empire. It’s filled will funny yet insightful anecdotes that help you grasp key concepts and better understand how to unlock your potential as a marketing professional. This stuff is truly the future of marketing and I hope you’ll get as much out of it as I did!
The concept of becoming a Fractional CMO is not only intriguing, it is timely, desperately needed, and achievable with the right plan. This book lays the plan out succinctly and effectively.
I joined the CMOx program before the author even wrote the book, based on social proof and success principles at work. The book is a fantastic summary of the awesome concepts, as well as a source of inspiration.
I love the case studies, quotes and stories. I am also honored to be one of those stories!
3 stars because he's doing the Russell Brunson building authority through publishing a book thing and I can respect that. His story is engaging and the writing is clear but ultimately he wants to get you in his funnel, sign you up for his CMO training courses and get your money. This book is decent research though to compile code words for sales pages/funnels because Fractional CMO's are a real thing.
Hint: don't give him your email to download any of the freebies - not worth it.
I loved this book. I found it very easy to follow, yet full of actionable steps to becoming a fractional CMO. As an agency owner, we are always looking for new ways to provide value for our clients and this will be an incredible resource for us to continue doing that. Can’t wait to start implementing these ideas!
This is a giant leaflet for https://cmox.co/resources/book-resour... and https://cmox.co/call/ It gives out very little value and most of what is valuable is actually locked in the CMOx Accelerator. I hoped it would be more actionable and specific and prefer frameworks over case studies.
Although I wish there was more details around the how, I get that this book is to generate leads for his training. Being a fractional CMO is something I am considering, it also scares the hell out of me.
Light on details but big on ideas and general discussions about how to get started and get thinking about it. Lots of push to join the accelerator. But if you want to get into fcmo, good place to start.
This was definitely more focused on selling the idea of a fractional CMO and the author's Accelerator program than offering guidance but it was short and interesting enough to be worthwhile.
This book is great at telling how to transition from marketing agency or full time to fractional or having a side gig. It validated a lot of feelings I had.
While there are some good resources and insights, this was SO salesy I felt compelled to write a review and wish I had a different book about the topic.
“Focus on one thing and master it completely. Once you’ve achieved the results, and have gained the competence and confidence, you can move to the next channel, if you desire.”
