Welcome to Dream Prep Academy. I’m Rivers, your guide to this secret private school.
I’m ready for a drama free senior year. Then I’m offered a job guiding a new student through the elite school I attend for free. Taking the job means a recommendation for my dream internship and I jump at the opportunity.
But I’m surprised to find I’m not guiding a sixth grader. Milo is also a senior, and like everyone else at Dream Prep Academy, he carries a secret.
We joke I’m paid to date Milo, and everyone believes it’s true. Soon my feelings threaten to ruin everything, including my chance at the internship. But the joke is on me because my dream job is staring me in the face. Will I see what is right in front of me in time?
The Dream Job is a standalone sweet romance in the Dream Prep Academy series. It’s perfect for fans of fake dating, sweet gestures, and swoony moments. Enjoy all the feels and start dreaming with the young adult characters of Dream Prep Academy.

How have I never heard of/thought of/read a ya romance with a shy, nervous, socially anxious mmc. Like this is probably one, if not the, cutest contemporary romance I have ever read. BECAUSE OF MILOOOOOO 😭😭😭 He is just the most adorable in the whole world. I loved this book so so sooooo much.
Favorite Quotes:
His adorable unease is endearing. (Yes, yes it is.)
”Someday I’ll take you to the ocean,” Milo says in a soft voice. “This is close enough,” I say. “You deserve more than close enough.”
I had the pleasure to read this ARC from Chrissy Q. Martin and swooned heavily over this YA book.
Rivers is a senior in high school, and doesn’t exactly fit in with the popular crowd. She attends a prep school thats grade 6 to 12 - and it’s one of those insanely rich schools with expensive tuition. The only reason she attends? Her dad is a science teacher at the school. Rivers is just a genuine, caring, and trusting character and you immediately warm up to her and the way she cares about those around her. Enter “Meet the Teacher” night for the parents to network with their children’s teachers for the next year. Rivers is working the event and helping guide parents at the schedule booth when she gets an unusual job: she’ll be guiding a famous environmental scientist’s son since he’ll be new to the school for his senior year. Like, literally paying her to go with the guy to his soccer practice, hanging out, going to lunches, and basically just being friends. Rivers sees this as a way to save up for her future for an internship she has her eye on.
AND THAT’S NOT IT….. because of the situation, his mom paying her, everyone starts to question them about what they are. They keep getting weird attention and to better avoid it, decide to FAKE DATE to get people off their backs.
When I say that I genuinely adored these characters and the book - it’s not an understatement. Chrissy even does a great job going through those teenage years and battling mental illnesses and the toll it can take on a person. I couldn't put this book down and read it in under 5 hours.
"Dream can be rewritten and changed, especially when you find the one who can help you rewrite them."
I loved everything about this book. It was an easy and light-hearted read. I absolutely enjoyed dreaming and escaping into a fictional world for a little bit through The Dream Job. Chrissy's work is more than just a book. Chrissy, your book is like the boy and I'm the sea star. I can't help but to use this as reference from this book. I liked how she raised awareness about mental health, particularly anxiety in this book and great approach to environmental education. The characters were all wonderful and likeable. Thanks for gifting me this book as ARC. I look forward to the next book in the Dream Prep Academy series.
Here's what I like about The Dream Job: - The cover: the color combination, the font... I mean, look at this gorgeous cover... It literally screams READ ME! - The main female character: Rivers. She is a badass. She is a confident and combative girl who never backs down from a goal. - The main male character: Milo. Instead of being the typical popular hot protagonist of romcoms, he is a sweet and shy guy who relays on the female protagonist's help. - The dynamic between them: I love the fact that Rivers is the one taking charge. She is the one guiding Milo and helping him through some serious stuff. But I also love the way Milo genuinely cares about Rivers and helps her write, change and rewrite her dreams. They really are perfect for each other and their love story is a super sweet (quite literally) one! - After reading a couple of young adult series written by Chrissy Q Martin, I had a feeling The Dream Job would make me silly smile a lot. Well... it went exactly like that! I mean... It's impossibile not to ship Chrissy's super sweet OTPs.
So, in one word, I like EVERYTHING about The Dream Job! I really recommend it as the perfect summer read or as the perfect read for every season... just read it, you can thank me later. Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Can't wait for book #2 of the Dream Prep Academy series!
I really liked this book. The whole premise of this novel is Rivers getting to know and help Milo and in the midst of that something that she doesn’t expect happens. I loved the character of Rivers as well as Milo. I loved how we could see how much both characters grow with each other. What I thought was super unique and something that sets this book apart was that Chrissy Q Martin wrote the main male character and described what he goes through dealing with severe anxiety. Most books that I have read, depicted the main female character as the one dealing with it, certainly not the popular new kid. I really liked that we could see and she gave insight into the reality for many guys that they either hide or we don’t see based on what society or school has labeled them to be. I personally have never dealed with the type of anxiety that was portrayed, but I loved that I was able to learn something new and get a little idea of the reality for many people’s lives. I will say sometimes the overall fake relationship trope throughout got a tad bit annoying and I was just like “Get together already” and it was a tad predictable, but overall I really enjoyed this one and will definitely be looking out for future books in this series!!
The Dream Job is a new book in the Dream Prep Academy series. I definitely felt like I have read this book a few times before when it comes to the fancy school and the mean girls. The premise was unique though. Her “job” was not a normal one but would definitely be considered a dream job. Rivers is a senior at DPA and has been hired to be a guide for a new student. Rivers thinks it’s a middle schooler but it’s actually another senior. Everyone has secrets at DPA and Milo is hiding one as well. It takes a while for you to learn what Milo’s secret is but it makes more sense as the book goes on. This book could be considered a love triangle because Jayden was trying really hard to get a date with Rivers. Rivers just wants a drama free no dating senior year but its not turning out the way she though it would. I really enjoyed these characters and thought Milo and Rivers had a great friendship. She was a little naive when it came to what was right in front of her face though. I loved how supportive her parents were and how things turned out in the end. I do hope we see more of these two in the next book.
I read it in less than 24 hours. Maybe less than 12...I don't rly remember
Most of the time its the girl who hates change or is the one with anxiety, but this time Milo was the one and I thought that was pretty cool to read that bc I've never seen that before...guys have feelings too they aren't just robots who like sports and cars. Ngl I was iffy abt reading it based off of the description but it turned out I loved it and Milo might be my favorite out of Chrissy Martin's characters (Tho Tyler is 100% rivaling Milo). I'm all for non-spice romances...I'm not judging anyone who reads them but its not for me and I don't think I could ever read one so I was super excited to find an author who only writes sweet, just kisses, romances

Let me start by saying Rivers is a wonderful name!!!!! The story was a great read it really made you get invested with in the characters. The book will keep you wondering and also trying to route for characters love it. When I write a review I do not want have any spoilers before someone can read it. What I will say it that I didn’t want to put down this latest installment of Chrissy Q Martins books. I have read all of them and always look forward to reading the next one. Give this book a try 5 stars!!!
This is such a sweet ya romance. The story was well thought out. There are characteristics that portray that you never know what someone is going through. Definitely recommend. I received this book as an ARC
This was such a nice light book to read. No spice just romance! Perfect for 13 year olds and above. Very nice for summer! I am looking forward to read the rest of the series!
4.5 stars to be honest. So fun and cute and a quick read. A fantastic YA romance where Rivers lands a dream job but will it get in the way of her dreams?
The Dream job was such a fun, easy, light hearted read. River was such a fun character who never backed down. She helps Milo bloom into his own amazing character. If you need a fun read this is it. A story where the female is in charge and the boy needs her, she doesn't need the boy.
Rivers is incredible, I want her as a friend. Milo and Rivers, they are so good together. I loved their chemistry and the weird way they started hanging out. Having the fake relationship trope was just the icing on top. I was fully immersed in their story, and it was exciting and wonderfully written. Milo’s anxiety was well dealt with and I enjoyed the way that subplot turned out. I can’t wait to read more books from this series.
The basic premise is that Rivers is paid to hang out with Milo by his mother since he is a new student. She guides him and stays with him when needed, just like a babysitter. They end up making a ruse of a fake relationship to offset certain people at school and slowly grow closer. You can kind of predict what happens after that.
I received a review copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As someone who is an introvert, I really liked that the MMC was a shy and quiet person. A lot of romance books have the love interest be a dominant, extraverted person. So, it was refreshing to read about Milo.
I loved seeing Milo blossom as a person next to Rivers. They really complement each other. The banter between Milo and Rivers is so great!
Chrissy did such a great job portraying anxiety throughout the book. I loved seeing how supportive Rivers was from the very beginning. Everyone deserves someone like Rivers in their life.
This book contained some of my favorite tropes: fake dating, opposites attract, he falls first.
Just finished the book, and it was so, so sweet! I loved it, the way the book handled anxiety really resonated with me and I felt for poor Milo. Although, it’s nice for a change not having the female MC depending on the male MC. It was a very nice read, perfect for a Sunday afternoon! My only issue was how the time passed and how insensitive Rivers’ character felt sometimes, but she always made up for it so I’m not particularly mad at that.
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a light read!
