Oh My Darlin

Rate this book
Nobody in Green Valley knows what happened between ex-friends Jenna Jacobson and Eland Wrathall. Which is frustrating because everyone in Green Valley knows that Jenna and Eland are meant to be together. But, getting the two to accept their fate might be a whole town effort.

When danger and intrigue strike, an opportunity to force some proximity on the two yearning souls presents itself.

The townsfolk of Green Valley are more than invested in seeing Jenna and Eland make it through the current crises and go live some happiness. But nothing ever goes exactly to plan, instead of seeing the remaining shards of this former friendship come together, those pieces could just shatter completely.

‘Oh My Darlin’ is a full-length contemporary romance and can be read as a standalone. Official Green Valley Fanfiction, Penny Reid Book Universe.

I loved this book.

I loved Jenna and I loved Eland. I loved their love story. I loved their friendship and their families and I loved their hometown (where I have visited many times, in many stories, extensively - like a lot).

As you can likely tell by my repetitive language I thoroughly enjoyed this book. For the last few weeks I've had a hankering for a romance with an awkward, odd, but completely awesome heroine (I swear) and this book delivered on that wish big time. (I'm not sure what it is about people who own their weird with their whole hearts that so enraptures me, but I'm not ashamed to admit it's gotten to be an addiction of mine.)

Also, full disclosure, I am writing this review with the hope that many, many people will buy this book so that there will be more books by Luthy written about Eland's brothers and some of the other new characters we met for the first time in this book.

I highly recommend this books to lovers of Green Valley or even just people who want a bit of kick ass escapism in their life.

I read this for free as a serial on the Smartypants Paetron and I just finished. I don't completely understand why it's categorized as fan fiction, but that wasn't super important to me.

It was a well written book with a mild mystery and wonderful romance. Jenna is an interesting character. She has a very unique personality and behaviors. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had of ever been mentioned that she was on the spectrum. (It never was said, fyi.) I liked that she had Indian heritage and would wear sari's occasionally.

I enjoyed Eland's character (even though that's a super weird name; must be a common New Zealand name since that's where he's from). I totally get why he was so hurt and behaved the way he did around Jenna after learning what happened between them 10 years previously. I enjoyed seeing the two of them open up to each other and be honest and forgiving of the past.

There's one sex scene that's medium in length and moderately detailed.

I referred to the mystery as mild because there's not a ton of investigating going on and it comes to a conclusion in the end kind of on its own. I think the break in was really just a took for the author to use to have use the forced proximity trope, which was fine with me!

I'd definitely read another fan fiction by Ms. Luthy. Especially if it's about one of Eland's triplet brothers.

3.5🌟s rounded up! I really loved Eland and Jenna. The slow-burn road back to loving and trusting each other was terrific. I loved how Eland just understood Jenna, even after all these years. His patience and eventual understanding made me want “big love” for him.

But the whole “caper” storyline I didn’t care for. I guess it’s not just that I didn’t like it, I didn’t care about it. The eventual resolution and and even the cause wasn’t made meaningful to me during the course of the story.

And in the blurb about the story that mentions “Nobody knows what happened between Jenn and Eland…” Did I miss something? Why do I still not really understand what happened way back then?

This is a fun trip back to Green Valley with a cameo of our favorite yarn fondler, Cletus, before he found his own big love. This is a fun story and great alternative view of Green Valley!

I am a huge fanfic reader. I was so excited to see that one of my favorite literary worlds was getting its own fan fiction. This was such a great way to visit Green Valley, TN.
JJ & Eland were so cute. I loved slowly learning about their history, and seeing how they reconnected.
They both had such interesting back stories that had me wondering about so many secondary characters.
And that mystery! That had me hooked until the end.
