I loved this book. I found myself examining my own heart right along the author. I especially appreciate the very personal and intimate way he opened himself up because it helped me to relate to the deep truths he was sharing with us. My favorite part was when he talked about doing things in his own strength – “you just need to bear down, and try harder because you can do whatever you set your mind to.” As much as I want to trust God and work with Him, I continually have to turn things over to him because I keep picking them back up again trying to do it in my own strength.” We all have our own struggles but no matter what they are, I believe that this book will be a blessing to you. I will continue to go back and reread this book over and over again.

Jake's practical use of Scripture, through each chapter, helps the reader to learn God's purposes for trials. This was not a quick read for me as it takes time to think and apply the teaching about growing thought trials in your own life. I'll have to reread some chapters to keep working on some of the practical teaching.

His openness and honesty about his own trials and falls through life makes the teaching authentic and real. My faith in God and my appreciation for the trials God has led me through grew in the reading of this book.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow in their relationship with God.
