Vampire Blood #3

The White Lily

Rate this book

To the north of the Varis empire, a mysterious faction spreads propaganda against the vampire monarchy. Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill, seeks to discover who they are before his uncle finds them first. King Dominik will punish the traitors with brutal force.

Local schoolteacher, the raven-haired Brennalyn, is on her own mission—to spy on the duke and discover what she can for the Black Lily. She longs to help the commonwealth and bring justice to the many orphans left behind from the ravages of the blood madness, like the children she lovingly keeps in her care. What she doesn't plan for is the heart-pounding attraction she feels for the duke, enemy to the Black Lily.

But when Brennalyn's secret puts her life and the life of her children in danger, Friedrich steps in as her protector, she finds out there's more to the duke than she thought.

Each book in the Vampire Blood series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.

The White Lily is book three in the Vampire Blood series by Juliette Cross. Most know that I am a huge fan of Juliette’s writing. I have been since the very first book. Each book she has written has captured me within it’s pages. But there is something special about this series. Something that I’m not sure I can describe. And each book just keeps getting better and better. This one is a very loose retelling of the fairy tale, Snow White. Of all the characters I have met so far in this series, I think Brennalyn and Friedrich have stolen my heart the most.

Brennalyn (Brenna) Snow is a school teacher. She is also mother to seven orphaned children that will steal your heart. Brennalyn wants with all her heart to aid in the rebellion against the vampire aristocracy that rules over the human peasants. The rebellion is called The Black Lily. So Brennalyn has been printing up flyers and distributing them all on her own and signing them The White Lily.

.

Brenna is convinced that the nearby Duke of Winter Hill, Friedrich Volya, who is nephew to the evil King Dominik, could be a source of information. So she’s been visiting Winter Hill and trying to gain information from her friend that works there. Unbeknownst to Brenna, Friedrich is on to her and has been watching the raven haired beauty.

Friedrich knows about the pamphlets that have been turning up as of late. He needs to find out who is printing them before his Uncle does. King Dominic has some very special punishments for traitors.

...

When Friedrich and Brenna come face to face, the attraction is strong. But Brenna is here for only one reason, to help The Black Lily. Brenna has been hurt badly in the past and she has vowed to never give her heart again. She has seven children who depend on her and a coming war she is determined to help with. She will not give in to this handsome Duke, no matter how badly she wants to.

Friedrich has never allowed himself to harbor feelings for any woman, vampire or human. But something about the beautiful Brenna has captured his heart and won’t let go.

“She was his addiction, his obsession, his all-consuming weakness.”

The bond grows stronger between Friedrich and Brenna. I want to warn you that this vampire will melt your heart. He is determined to win Brenna‘s trust. But time is not something they will have to explore their feelings for each other. Danger has found one of Brenna’s children. Friedrich and Brenna are forced to travel to Izeling Tower to a ball thrown by King Dominic and his mother, Queen Morgrid for answers.

In true Juliette Cross fashion, the book builds to an intense peak enough to make my heart beat right out of my chest. The book goes from sweet romantic words, intensely sexy times, cute, adorable children, and heart pounding action. So the book has everything. I could not stop reading. My husband was lucky I was able to provide dinner.

Just a note, even though each of the books in this series is about a different couple, the series is best read in order. There is a plot that continues throughout the series and the characters are recurring. I also want to add that Juliette writes the BEST prologues and epilogues. Just the prologue alone took my breath away. I was hooked immediately.

If you haven’t started this series yet, start with Book one, The Black Lily, then book two is The Red Lily. This series is amazing and I don’t want you to miss a single word of it. I can’t wait to see what Juliette Cross has in store for us next. Don’t forget to check out some of her other series as well. They are all amazing.

“It was no longer a war of humans against vampires. It was a war between justice and tyranny.”

You have to read this series in order. It has a very big storyline going in all of the books, even though each one focuses on a different couple and has a bit of a fairytale retelling thing going.

So, this one is the Snow White, vampire style.

I gotta be honest with you. If you are googling around for dark Disney stuff, you will find some weird shit. It just proves to me how many men are twisted, sex-starved, little bastards when they come up with porny crap starring cartoon characters. Like, really? You had to turn our innocent childhood friends into lusty sex-kittens?

Why?

But, hey, that's the internet for you. And, maybe I shouldn't google things I really don't want to find.

So, Snow White is an innocent, beautiful school teacher who has adopted seven orphan children. She is also part of the resistance against the evil vampire monarchy and is spying on our hero, the Duke. But, he's a good guy. A fuck-boy, but a good guy.

Once a week, all of the village hoes meet in his rose garden, hoping to be chosen as his bleeder/sex-buddy for the night. He picks one from the window and gets his assistant to invite his chosen one to Netflix and Chill with him. Unfortunately, for Snow White, she happens into that garden on mistake. Right on that day, during that time!! I know, right? What are the odds???

Right place. Right time. Magic....

He obviously picks her. I mean, come on, she's Snow White. "Skin as white as snow. Hair as black as night. Lips as red as blood." It's like she's vampire crack or something.

Wow, those are some ugly little vampires! Maybe they just need the obligatory leather pants to look hot.

In reality, he knows who she is and that she was spying. He totally set her up on purpose to find out what side of the upcoming war she will be on. When he realizes they are on the same side? It's on!

I liked this book because I like the whole world, the build-up towards this war thing, and really liked both characters in this story. The men in these books are alpha-guys, but the author does them right, so I'm happy with them. If you like PNR with a re-telling twist, you would probably enjoy the series. Next up is Rapunzel...

Also, here is a much better review than mine, by Sh3lly. Click here.
She actually includes things like quotes and even tells us the actual names of the characters.

I mean well, but... ya know...

These two characters have a awesome chemistry and with a great storyline this was a page turner. The Black Lily ✰✰✰✰
The Red Lily ★★★★

The White Lily is for all those girls out there that might not be good with a sword or have magic but they have a mind and a way with words and want to help to change the world too. The Pen can be just as mighty as the Sword and sometimes more so.

description

Juliette Cross’s Fairytale retelling with vampires continues with The White Lily. This is the Snow White version. Brennalyn does have a heart as pure as snow and she has taken in seven orphans to prove it. Barely into her twenties and a schoolteacher in a small provincial town Brennalyn is doing everything she can to help out the revolution against the Vampires. She might not be able to fight but she can turn a phase and so she is doing her part to put out fliers to help rally people to the Black Lily’s cause.

Fredrick is sure he is cursed due to the history of his family. His father suffered a brutal death at the hands of his mother.
The only way to dispel this dark enchantment—his family’s bloody history and his legacy of wickedness—was true love itself. Only a lady with heart and soul as pure as snow could break through the ice and awaken the duke to his destiny.

Fredrick never thought he would meet such a woman. He was sure that he would like his immortal life alone. The bewitching and exceedingly kind school teacher is exactly what he needs. Now he just needs to protect her from his curse, an evil Queen and his uncle.

I’m enjoying the Vampire Blood series. Each book builds on the others so I don’t suggest skipping. One of the things that I like the best about this series is that for the couples there is some friction in the beginning but usually they get together in a solid amount of time so that there is more time for rest of the plot arcs. The sex scenes are pretty steamy and Fredrick was exceptionally dreamy. I like that all of the heroines in each story have been really good at different things. The Black Lily is a fighter, The Red Lily has magic and now our White Lily has a printing press. It is great to show how each woman is strong in different ways.

I look forward to Sleeping Beauty’s tale since she is the first heroine to be a vampire. I’m not sure what Lily Color she will be but I’m pretty sure it will be fantastic.

One of the most erotic reads from the Vampire Blood series thus far! Snow won’t be the only thing melting in The White Lily.

The saga continues with the school teacher (and sometime spy for the rebellion) Brennalyn. The fair lady and mother of orphans will do her duty to see justice for those she claims as her own. There is just one devastatingly irritating, yet irresistible flaw in her plan. The Duke of Winter Hill, Friedrich Volya.

The Duke is no fool. He sees the lovely raven haired beauty plotting along. Little does she know, though, he wants to help her– in more ways than she can possibly imagine. I kept a perpetual smile while reading. The White Lily is dangerously flirty fun filled with the most exquisite sexual tension. The outlying plotline took a backseat in book three to allow the coupling of Brennalyn and Friedrich to take center stage. The only “spoiler-ish” thing I am willing to say is that I am reminded of the infamous chapter 32 in the Kresley Cole IAD series. (((SO HOT)))

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, each book from Juliette Cross seems to be better than the last. She is an author on the rise and taking the PNR world by the throat with her vampire crew. Well written and perfectly executed, her books are an automatic-one-click purchase.

Nothing but five-star love!

5 - "The prick is a little painful... But you'll only remember the pleasure." Stars!

We finally get Friedrich’s story in the third book of Juliette Cross’s Vampire Blood Series. The White Lily puts the Duke of Winter Hill and local schoolteacher Brennalyn Snow firmly in villainous King Dominik’s crosshairs.

Its LIVE!
Amazon US – http://a.co/dRRaeCQ
Amazon UK - http://amzn.eu/gEFvdSX

This book was a little more of a slow burn compared to its predecessors, the first half or so dealt with the budding relationship between Friedrich and Brennalyn, but then everything in relation to the bigger story arc comes to the fore in the second half, as the relationship and feelings between them deepen.

"You’re most improper for a royal duke…"

"Thank you… I do my best."

I loved the verbal sparring between these two. Friedrich isn’t shy about ensuring that Brenna knows exactly how much he is attracted to her, and although reluctant to become one in a long line of women from the village who have willingly become one of his bleeders in the past, she cannot deny just how mutual their feelings are for each other.

The man made her want to climb in his lap and run away at the same time…

But she was feisty with it, and never backed down when it came to getting her point across with him, and I enjoyed the fact that she made him work for what he wanted. Her adopted children and their care paramount to her more than her own wants and desires.

"You want me too kiss you… And bite you… Lick you… Fuck you."

We are definitely reaching the crescendo of this series now, there is more involvement from the Blood Guard in this book which bodes well for the future, and the battle between the Black Lily and the Vampire Royal family is very much firmly in the foreground in the latter stages of this book.

"Your cause… My cause."

Not one too wish my life away waiting for books to be released (soooo untrue it’s not funny) I cannot wait to get my hands on The Emerald Lily at this point I have absolutely no idea how the author plans to close out this series, and January 2018 cannot come soon enough for me to have all of my questions answered.

"I can wait for more…"

He was a royal vampire, powerful, charming and deadly if threatened. Friedrich also has a secret agenda to save humanity from the brutal vampire king, his uncle.
Fiercely independent and driven to protect her young charges, school teacher, Brennalyn will do anything to give a better life to the street orphans she shelters, including acting as a spy for the Black Lily. What Brennalyn hadn’t allowed for was the sensual power and magnetic attraction of the Duke of Winterhill. How can she possibly fulfill her duties to the Black Lily if this vampire has her weak in the knees like a young schoolgirl? How far must she go to convince Friedrich to give up secrets she can send to the rebels? What if he is nothing like she thought he would be? What if he had his own agenda she never could have expected?

Juliette Cross hits another home run with THE WHITE LILY! Filled with characters that run the gamut from clever to adorable, beautiful to devastatingly handsome, their physical descriptions are only part of what makes this tale come to life! Each scene is like stepping into this tale, each character is dynamic in their own right, with a feisty and big-hearted heroine just a little out of her league as a spy and a dashing vampire with a heart and the daring to do “the right thing” for humans as well as vampires. Together, Friedrich and Brennalyn are the fabric that creates a beautiful tapestry of intrigue, romance and even light-hearted moments!

Book three in Juliette Cross’ Vampire Blood series brings us Friedrich Volya, Duke of Winter Hill, and a naughty duke he is.

“You’re most improper for a royal duke.”
“Thank you, I do my best.”

The reformed rake is one of my favourite tropes out there and Friedrich does it justice being the perfect blend of charming and cheeky whilst having that strong dominance and presence which comes with being vampire royalty. Popular with the ladies, he’s knocked off his stride when teacher and mother to seven adopted orphans, Brennalyn Snow proves that not all women are so easy to woo.

description

The White Lily was definitely on the slower burn end of the romance scale, but that was fitting to the overall story because there is so much more as King Dominik makes his appearance in his quest to discover just who The White Lily is, whilst his mother, Queen Morgrid continues in her tyranny against the villagers. And as the story progresses and tension builds within the kingdom and surrounding villages, it’s also building between Friedrich and Brenna, because he is nothing but determined to show her his true self.

“She was his addiction, his obsession, his all-consuming weakness.”

With passionate build-up and plenty of fight and humour between this couple as well as lovely softer moments involving the children, once again Juliette Cross has created a couple to adore. But when the crux of this story hits, it hits hard and fast, leaving your heart in your throat, clawing at the pages desperate to see how the story will unfold, and that’s why I love this series: the final book, The Emerald Lily, can’t come soon enough for me.

“…I will be gentle. I promise.”

Loved it! The White Lily is a Snow White retelling with a vampire twist – beautifully written with a sweet romance, steamy sex, some heart-stopping moments but overall left me feeling warm & fuzzy with a sigh of contentment. A thoroughly enjoyable read!

I immediately connected with the characters especially Brenna, who has such a kind heart - she is a school teacher who takes in orphaned children and gives them her love and care. She is smart, well educated and harbouring a dark secret. Friedrich is the vampire Duke of Winter Hill – he is aware that she is hiding something and is determined to find out what it is, but he can’t help but be impressed by her spirit and love for her children. The writing is flawless and engaging, and the richly layered plot kept me turning the pages. There is plenty of action & adventure, political intrigue and some smoking hot romance.

It is definitely an adult read due to the steamy sex scenes. Compared to the previous two books in the series, Ms Cross has upped the spice in the bedroom which left me needing a cold shower.

I am so pleased that my friends recommended Juliette Cross’s books to me. This is the third series of hers that I have read and am yet to be disappointed. I can highly recommend the Vessel & Age of Gray series as well as this one.

It took me longer to settle into this book than it did the previous ones but by the time I'd reached the third chapter I found I was enjoying it.

Brennalyn Snow is the school teacher at Terrington she's beautiful with a huge heart proven by the fact that she's adopted seven children and these children steal the show, they are completely adorable.
Brennalyn believes in the Black Lily and justice and she's trying to discover where the Duke's loyalty lies.
The Duke is supporting the Black Lily but his uncle has planted traitors before so he's suspicious about Miss Snow.
Despite their suspicions they are very attracted to each other although each has sworn to never get seriously involved with another.
There's some fabulous characters in this book particularly the children, the Bloodguard, Friedrich and of course Brennalyn.

Despite the spoiler I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one.

Once again, Juliette Cross manages to ignite the reader's imagination and immerse us in a world with a corrupt vampire monarchy rules the humans with an iron fist and their only hope is the human rebels and the vampires that find themselves in love with them.

This is the story of Friedrich, vampire royal, and the Brennalyn, the local school teacher. Brennalyn has been quietly fighting the monarchy with words, printed publications until Varis takes notice.

I have devoured each and every book I’ve read by Juliette Cross and White Lily is no exception. I especially loved how Brennalyn took in all the orphan’s caused by the monarchy’s murdering rampages and the dynamic between her children and Varis.

I would love more on the Wolves' side of the story.

I received this copy of The White Lily from Juliette Cross. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I swear, this series just keeps getting better with each new release! Friedrich was everything I love in a hero and then some, and Brennalyn was an amazing mix of strong yet still soft heroine. The two of them made for AMAZING chemistry. Seriously! From right out of the chute, I was hooked and dying for these two exceptional characters to finally get together. And let me just say, when they finally do, they DO NOT disappoint.

As for the overarching plot with The Black Lily, things are really heating up and getting oh so interesting. I love how Juliette has managed to make each romance so beautiful and yet wind in an exceptionally well crafted plot and can't wait to see how she wraps things up in the final installment.

If you love commanding alpha heroes with soft spots for their heroines, superb paranormal stories, and off the charts romance, this one is a must read.

The White Lily was another compelling read in the Vampire Blood series.

I have to say I absolutely love the prologues and epilogues in this series. Ms. Cross writes such gripping and enticing, beginnings and ends, that I’m blown-away and hooked immediately.

This one is a loose retailing of the fairy tale, Snow White. Brennalyn Snow is a school teacher. She’s got a big heart, is a mother to seven orphaned children, and wants to aid the rebellion against the aristocracy vampires that rule over all humans. Friedrich Volya, Duke of Winter Hill is secretly helping the rebellion and has been keeping an eye on the raven haired school teacher for sometime now.

It took me a little while to get into this story. I felt the romance and plot where a little slow going, but once I got into the story, things moved quickly. A few things where easy to spot, but the danger was strong and enticing. Near the end we get a little surprise. Which made me giddy and shows that things will soon be coming to a head in the war against the crown.

“It was no longer a war of humans against vampires. It was a war between justice and tyranny.”

For the romance I wasn’t fully falling into it and I didn’t fully love it like I have the previous two couples in this series. Their romance was still good. The passion and attraction where their and very strong, but something was lacking with Friedrich and Brennalyn’s romance. I can’t put my finger on it, but I just felt something was missing.

As a last note, even though each of the books in the series are about different couples, the series is best read in order. There is a plot that continues thorough out the series and recurring characters.

The White Lily was a riveting read. I’m fond of Ms. Cross’s writing. She just has a way of pulling you into the story and characters and keeping you hooked. I can’t wait for the next installment in the Vampire Blood series.

This is some kind of romance fantasy where exist a Vampire Monarchy, you know, with your average oh-so-handsome evil vampires with pleasure bites and 'elixir' to thrall into obedience and pain. Only the Varis royalty vampires can make more vampires from their blood, and of course if you are born from them (?!). Going into the third book of the series, a discension had started between the peasants and some members of the nobility that abjure of the cruelty and bad practices b/c they are not protecting their sheep humans. And yeah the King is really mad with some chick called Black Lily who is the symbol for the rebellion.

But in the North there is also a dissident spreading bad propaganda with pamphlets - the White Lily (roll eyes), and the Duke Friedrich wants to find the fool before the King does it.

Well that's the idea.

For me is was all-

dracula_1979_langella

Quotes:
She had no idea what men were thinking when they laid eyes on her. But he did.
--------
[She] was no longer the woman focused solely on the needs of others, but the woman who longed to take what she wanted. To satiate her own fleshly desires.
('freshly desires' ... snort... bwajajajaja)
-------------
Vampires are covetous creatures. They want what other vampires have. Especially a beautiful woman who is the lover of a royal.”
She shook her head. “That makes no sense at all.”
“That’s because you’re human.”

(weeell, actually, that makes them even more human , pal)
------

Also I found annoying all the gasp-ed (28 in the text)

SorryNotSorry, not my cuppa. Too cliche . Heroine TSTL. And macho pushing woman into the ground and walls... nop. The Duke is not very wise either , his plans are silly and plain and ug very foolish.

Vampires? Almost inmortals, created or breeded. Not problem with the sun. Some blood lust, supposedly controlable. Blur-fast. Strong. Random gifts.

Mmm. More than anything, feels to me like a PWP with a side of tiny plot.
Not up for the next book.

I am absolutely in love with this series! I remember reading the first one thinking it was going to be a simple fairytale retelling, surprised when it had paranormal content, and then pleased that it was so much more than I had ever dreamed. Now with this latest addition, I’m just plain antsy to find out how this drama is all going to end.

description

Brennalyn is the local school teacher but on the side she’s fighting for the resistance, which was started by the Black Lily, against the vampire monarchy. Putting her talents to use, she sets herself up as the White Lily to spread the word. The only problem is the Duke of Winter Hill who keeps constantly getting in her way.

description

Friedrich has been drawn to the allure of Brenna since the first moment he walked into the schoolhouse. He’s aware she’s been spying on him but is uncertain why and for which faction she’s doing so. If it is for his uncle, this could all go terribly wrong.

When their secrets are revealed and one of her children go missing, this couple’s relationship is fast forwarded in an effort to infiltrate their enemy. There is so much heat and chemistry between Brenna and Friedrich. Each of them having sworn off love and marriage, now they only know they need one another. In the middle of a war of good against evil isn’t really the best time to fall in love. Unless you have no other choice.

description

I loved Friedrich and his instant need of Brenna. Initially, he desires her as a bleeder and a partner to warm his bed. It doesn’t take long for him to want more from her as he recognizes her inner strength. Watching her with her children only makes him want her more. And oh man, when he interacts with the children, my heart melted. Careful ladies, it’ll make your ovaries explode! If you like your heroes possessive, protective and just plain jealous of anyone who looks at his lady, you’re gonna love Friedrich.

description

Brennalyn was an awesome heroine. Her strength never made her reckless, stupid or too much of anything. She was perfect in her love of hearth and home as well as her beliefs of justice for the lower classes. She stands up for what she believes in and is willing to do what is necessary to save those she loves.

I can’t explain how much I absolutely loved this book, this series. Each one is completely capable of standing alone. There is an overlapping plot that runs through them but even that is explained in each book without it becoming repetitive. However, I’ve fallen in love with each of these couples and I’m so anxious to get to the next one. Greedy, I know. But Ms. Cross has made me that way.

I think that Juliette Cross managed to set the bar even higher with this..... her 3rd installment of the dark and sexy Vampire series....Vampire Blood.
There is however a bigger sense of malevolence in this story than the previous two books IMO even with some of it's parallels to the "Snow White" fairytale.
The writing and imagery is just so vivid...that I can totally picture this fantasy world with all it's hard fought battles and savagery.... with crystal-like clarity .
In this book Brennalyn is the beautiful schoolteacher that is fiercely loyal to the "Black Lily resistance" and Friedrich is the Vampire Duke of Winter Hill whose allegiance is uncertain.
This book was certainly a nail biter at times but I am very much loving this series. ....and this story was sexy... but also sweet and romantic.

Book Review For: The White Lily by Juliette Cross 'The White Lily' by Juliette Cross is Book Three in The "Vampire Blood" series. This is the story of Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill and Brennalyn. I have read the previous books (and loved them!) but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Brennalyn is the local school teacher but she has a secret that she is hiding that puts her is very real danger if found out. Brennalyn has a soft heart too and has taken in some of the unwanted children who have become like her own children. Brennalyn's friend works at the Duke's house and one day while there 'talking' to her good friend, she looses her way and ends up in front of the Duke, Friedrich. Brennalyn pretends to be interested in being one of his blood women but he calls her out. Brennalyn then reports she wants the school to have a better stove. Brennalyn doesn't know if she can trust Friedrich and doesn't want him to know why she was really there. Friedrich knows that Brennalyn is lying to him but he not sure yet if he can trust her....but he does know he wants her. This whole series has been great! This book just added to my love of this series. I had SUCH a good time with this one. A vampire Duke and a school teacher with 7 adopted children. The moment he sees her he is entranced.

This one definitely upped the danger, the stakes and the swoon factor. Nobody writes a possessive yet endearing hero quite like Juliette!

I cannot WAIT for the finale!

This series just keeps getting better and better. We return to the rebellion between vampires and humans with the queen recruiting her son Dominik and a new uprising coming from the North with the White Lily.

Who is the White Lily? That is what Fredrich Duke of Winter Hill is trying to figure out. He knows that he needs their help but also he needs to find them to protect them from his family.

When Brennalyn moved to Terrington she never could have imagined the life she would end up having. Especially not gaining the interest of vampire royalty.

This book was good we get to see more of the characters from previous books and we get more of what's going on with the missing villages and even the Princess Mina. I can't wait for the next book.

NetGalley ARC review. The feisty librarian/part-time spy and the rakish duke. Oh what a fun read! A slow seduction at it's finest. The verbal sparring between Friedrich & Brennalyn is highly entertaining along with the duke's relentless pursuit of who he desires most. This is the first story I've read by Juliette Cross. I will be picking up additional stories by her.

This series...THIS SERIES!!!!

I just can't you guys. I can't even form the words to express what I'm feeling after reading these books. Each book has been unique and captivating. This one? This one is sweet and endearing. Passionate and exhilarating. But nothing prepared me for how I feel about the children. For those who know me, you know that I don't "do" books with children. This has changed my mind...

Brennalyn is a school teacher. She's also the mother to seven orphaned children who have lost their families either by illness or by the hands of the evil kingdom. But that's not all she is. She's much more than that. While visiting her friend at the castle, she stumbles in to an area that changes the course of her life. Never did Brenna think she'd come face to face with the Duke of her village. Especially considering she's heard so many awful things about the kingdom and how they rule. Boy oh boy. She's in for quite the surprise.

Friedrich is the vampire Duke. The one that has been working with his uncle Marius and the Black Lily to destroy the kingdom, but no one knows that. In fact, no one knows the secrets that he's been keeping. Now that he's noticed Brennalyn asking questions, he needs to find out if she's a spy for his evil uncle, King Dominik. It seems as though Brennalyn has some secrets of her own. And Friedrich is all too happy to find them out.

As we all know from reading the first two installments, the war rages on. The queen and Dominik are still creating vampires, hunting the Black Lily in hopes to destroy everything. After word is received that the White Lily is near Friedrich's territory, Dominik sends his huntsmen to capture anyone associated. With the hunt on, Friedrich becomes determined to find the White Lily before Dominik. Now that he's found the White Lily first, he'll do just about anything to keep the White Lily safe.

Have I mentioned the children? These beautiful creatures have stolen my heart. All seven of them. And Brennalyn, sigh. What a heart this woman has. To take these children as her own and care so deeply for them. That alone is amazing. But then she goes and becomes more. Now wonder Friedrich can't stop wanting her. Who in their right mind could? Friedrich's determination to have Brennalyn makes my heart swell. Even after all of her resistance, he never gave up on her. And without giving anything away, nor did she.

*I received this book from the author for my honest opinion.

The imaginative Vampire Blood series has just gotten better. This clever Snow White retelling is (so far) my favorite book of the series. Brenna and Friedrich are so hot together, and there are twists you will definitely not see coming.

The Story-
Brennalyn Snow is a school-teacher and has adopted 7 children. She is also a secret supporter of the underground "Black Lily" movement. While trying to gain information about the local vampire duke's loyalties, she unknowingly stumbles into his weekly selection of women who wish to be bleeders for the duke. Friedrich was intrigued by Brennalyn from the moment he met her, but her secrets make him want to know the woman behind the teacher facade in a way that surprises even him.

My Thoughts-
This story does an excellent job on building on the background from the previous books, but also deepening the world so that we have a greater grasp of the ramifications of the evil we've been introduced to. Again, the fairytale component is dealt with a light hand, never on the nose or what you'd expect. Cross is exceptionally good at adding the appropriate level of darkness and danger to her plots. Although you know it has to have a HEA, it is, at times, very difficult to figure out how exactly that will happen.
As someone who has struggled with infertility, I connected with Brennalyn and loved the emphasis on her personhood as a woman and how it is not inherently connected to being a natural mother. And, can we talk a minute about Friedrich? His character brings Cross's sexy level to a new stratosphere. But, it is totally appropriate to the story and doesn't feel forced or shoehorned in.

The Bottom Line-
If you like paranormal, historical, or fairytale retellings, I wholeheartedly recommend this series. It continues to get better, more dangerous, and more suspenseful, book by book. I cannot wait to read the final book in the series, but will be sad when it is over. 5 stars

***5 ‘Why Are You On Your Knees?” Stars***

Ever since getting that taste of Friedrich (who will from now on be called Freddy with the blessing of the author :D) in The Red Lily I’ve been doing my best to #practicepatience (badly) for his story, and though it took me a bit to finally dive into The White Lily, I was not disappointed in any way. Even with all the tension between the royal family and those who back the Black Lily, it was a fun read filled with moments that made my heart go all kinds of wonky and twitterpated, my panties melt (and amazingly had no moments that me want to give the author the evil eye) and filled with characters I want to spend more time with and was quite disappointed when there were no more words to read.

I absolutely ADORED Freddy & Brenna! Freddy may just be my favorite non-broody yet alpha AF male Ms. Cross has written to date. He’s sneaky, charming, commanding, dominate and oh my god smexy and then mix in his compassionate heart and simple kindness and you have a very lethal male on your hands. Brenna has that potent and intriguing mix of tender heart and iron will. She’s not afraid to jump into the mix and help out in whatever capacity she can, but she doesn't need to be the in the spotlight.

The chemistry between Freddy and Brenna was off the charts. It was seriously in that whole my my heart all kinds of wonky and twitterpated while melting my panties off chemistry (Honestly don’t even bother with panties). Even when they were dancing around each other with their “secrets” it was hot and then when they finally come clean and get to know each other without all the baggage they are both carrying around...it’s practically perfect. There is a bit of push/pull going on, but the angst is low, and I’m definitely not mad at where they were at in the end.

Part of my enjoyment of any story are well written secondary/supporting cast of characters that inhabit the world and Ms. Cross writes some amazing ones. Brenna’s children had me smiling, especially Izzy though Beatrice wasn’t far behind considering our shared hobby and Denny...Then there is Grant and the men in the Bloodguard. Let’s just say that I wouldn’t be upset at all if they all got their own HEA’s, whether it be in this series or a spin off. As for the direction the overall series arc is going, I’m really enjoying watching as everything unfolds and cannot wait to see what the next book in the series brings!

Eh....Not what I was hoping for. But not a huge fan of the series. Too much spice and not enough relationship aspects. I need more balance. These books need a bit longer lengths I think to add more depth to the relationship building elements. And the narration is okay but not good. It wasn't a bad story. It definitely had such great promise and I really enjoyed the "snow white" elements to this one here. But to be honest, I would have hoped for so much more in this one here. But I think this series just hasn't worked for me, as much as I want to love this author more, I think some of her books just have a writing style not for me or it could be these books in audio. I will probably try the last in physically and see if I enjoy it more.

Once you get past the cover, Cross' third installment in the Vampire Blood series, THE WHITE LILY is a sexy adventure with two protagonists you can't help but root for.

Brenna is sassy and smart with a big heart - an excellent match for Friedrich. When the two of them are thrown together, sparks fly. The relationship develops between them quite quickly, but it doesn't feel too rushed. And, enough time is spent on developing the greater storyline of the series that it furthers the plot along and kept me on tenterhooks trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The undercurrent of danger is always there, but there are moments between Brenna and Friedrich when they (and the reader) seem to forget all of the outside world, and get lost in each other.

Those moments were definitely what kept me reading THE WHITE LILY. Though the scenes with Brenna's adopted children were cute, and there were a few times when Friedrich's valet, Grant, gave me a good laugh, the times when Brenna and Friedrich are together alone, whether tender or explosive, are super enjoyable. The reader gets to see a different side of Friedrich than we've seen in the previous book, and it was sexy as hell.

Since this is the third book in the series, it is assumed that the reader will know most of the world, and so some aspects weren't explained - however, I don't think that should be a deterrent, as most everything is easy to pick up on and to be honest, I didn't mind going without the tedious explanations of who was related to who and the politics of the developing war. The action just happened, without a ton of preamble, and it was honestly pretty great.

After this installment in the Vampire Blood series, I am eager to see who will be featured next! I have an inkling of who it might be...one can always hope, right?

3.5 stars,

~Friedrich was a better hero than Marcus or was it Marius? Eh I guess that hero wasn't that important in my book.

~I liked how he became very protective of her 7 kids.
~I liked the heroine how she took in 7 orphans kids, giving them love and protection and becoming their mother.

~Guards who became putty in the kids's hands. I mean who doesn't love a man who's a lethal warrior becoming soft and gentle in the hands of a kid? I know I do.

Overall I enjoyed this book a lot better than the first one.

"My lady."
"My woman."
"My Brennalynn."

Favorite of the series so far. I love how each book expands on characters we know and the relationships move to the forefront. Brennalyn was perfect for Friedrich he was masculine and alpha and her character complimented him rather than overshadowed him (like Arabelle and Sienna did in the previous books. The building sexual tension between the characters was written wonderfully as were the sex scenes. The sex scenes aren't repetitive in the series they are tailored to the characters personality in the book, so you don't get that insert tab A into slot B moment because you read it in the last book.
I own every book by Mrs. Cross and there's a reason for that (besides the OCD) the world building is excellent and the characters are always whole, even the secondary characters.

I was given an ARC for my honest opinion.

Brennalyn Snow is a schoolteacher caring for seven orphans. She’s made it her mission to spy for the Black Lily and find out if the Duke of Winter Hill, Friedrich Volya is another oppressor loyal to the crown.
When the Duke starts looking into the past of the fierce woman he’s only met a few times and who stumbled into his selection ritual, he’ll discover she’s the one printing and distributing propaganda under the pseudonym of the White Lily and will do anything in his power to keep her and her children safe even by risking his own life.
Brenna and Friedrich make one explosive combination and I felt her independence and determination were a great match to his domineering nature. On the other hand, we see how her children bring out the softer side of him and make him appear almost human as well as some aspects of his relationship with Grant.
This is another great book on the Vampire Blood series and an amazing re-tale of Snow White down to the mirror and the poisoned apple. I really enjoyed the story from beginning to end and the way the author created the perfect balance between the fairy tale and the world of the Black Lily.
I can’t wait to get more of these tales of darkness, love and war as told by Ms. Cross.

The Vampire Blood series is probably the most interesting take on fairytale retellings that I have read thus far. I mean we have Arabella (Cinderella) as a vampire hunter, Sienna (Little Red Riding Hood) living in a magical forest with huge Hart wolves, and now Brennalyn (Snow White) as the adoptive mother to seven children. And when you pair these unique heroines with some uber yummy (and fangy) heroes, sparks fly.

I'm going to start with our hero for The White Lily, Friedrich Volya, Duke of Winter Hill, and cousin to Prince Marius from The Black Lily. We met Friedrich in the earlier books and I didn't expect him to be quite so deliciously flirty. I would describe Friedrich as a loving womanizer... he flits from woman to woman not because he is fickle or cold-hearted, but because he wants to avoid hurting any woman like his mother was hurt by his father's infidelity. I found him to be an admirable hero, and his salacious sexual appetite was lots of fun.

Our heroine is Brennalyn Snow, a rebel loyal to the Black Lily's cause. In a similar vein to Snow White, Brennalyn has seven little people to care for... but they are children of various ages and personalities. Brennalyn has an ulterior motive for being in Winter Hill, and she does not trust the Duke at all, despite being drawn to him. Brennalyn was not my favorite heroine of the series, but I did enjoy her care and affection for the children. Once she got over her judgey inclinations, she was a tolerable heroine and I enjoyed watching Friedrich seduce her.

The Black Lily and her cause are still going strong, but so is the Queen and her spreading blood madness. When Friedrich's uncle Dominick begins hunting The White Lily, it puts him and Friedrich in direct conflict and threatens to expose Friedrich's true loyalties. I like the overall series arc and conflict, and The White Lily helped to advance that. I wish the ending and plot conflict would not have resolved so quickly, as I really like the action and drama unfolding.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher, Entangled.

Lucky me, I received an arc of this beautiful and emotional story. It had everything I love in a romance-hero that makes me swoon and a heroine that I couldn't help but fall in love with. Their sensual path to a HEA stole my heart. With Juliette Cross's gorgeous writing, this perfect romance blossoms! I'll write a full review closer to pub date. Grab this story, the third in the series. You won't be sorry.
