The Return – A Birch Creek Novel The day Justin broke the news to Jessica that her fiancé—his twin brother—had died, his world fell apart. Battling his own demons, he left home hoping to piece together his broken heart. Little did he know that in the wake of this tragedy, Jessica was mourning not only the man she loved but the loss of her best friend. Caught up in her grief, Jessica moves away from the tragic loss and memories haunting her in Phoenix and settles in the small town of Birch Creek, Oregon. Where no one knows her, and she can start over; with new friends and the perfect job. If only she would allow herself to love again. The residents of Birch Creek are celebrating 150 years since the founding families settled in this quaint town. And as the festivities kick off, the new town doctor arrives and comes to find that second chances do exist—but is he ready for it? Can Justin move past his inner conflicts and thoughts of betrayal when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with the woman he has loved for nearly two decades?
Gretchen was born with a book in her hands. She lived in the town library, where she devoured hundreds of books every year. At the tender age of thirteen, she read The Stand by Stephen King and her love for writing was born. Her writing journey started when she wrote fan fiction for her high school peers, and they ate them up like last night’s pizza. In 2018, she published her first novella and knew this was what she wanted to do—create worlds where her readers could escape to and fall in love with her characters. She now lives and writes contemporary closed-door romance while sipping cocktails on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean.
