too much stupid stuff

The action kept it moving and I liked the protagonists well enough. The author’s sentence structure, grammar, word use and spelling are all good.

While many such novels like this aren’t truly realistic this one doesn’t bother try very hard. For example the couple are trying to hide their sexual encounter from others including their hosts, but the man throws his condom in the waste basket. The heroine is supposed to be a professional, trained by the CIA and she keeps using the term “super” like super top secret. There were just so many times I thought “this action/event is just too ridiculous” that I decided not too read any more of the author’s books. I can’t really enjoy them when I keep being captured by the stupid stuff.

Saving Kyla: Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone: Book 1 is by Ella James. This is a new Brotherhood Protectors series set in West Yellowstone. Stone Jacob and his security team needed help getting the last of their men out of Afghanistan. The US withdrawal from Afghanistan had left thousands of Americans and people who had worked for the Americans stranded in Afghanistan. They were systematically being eliminated by the Taliban. He had asked Hank Patterson and his Brotherhood Protectors company for help. When he got his men out, he intended to ask Hank if he would consider starting a base in West Yellowstone where his father lived, and letting Stone and his men become the base of that group. What he didn’t intend to happen was for a US based assassin to be included in his group.
Kyla Russell, not her real name, was an assassin with a conscious. Before she assassinated the people she was assigned to, she did her own research. This time, she could find no red flags to indicate her mark was doing anything wrong. She met with him and decided on her own that he was being set up. At that moment, a group of men headed for his front door. Kyla managed to get him and his wife out of the house and headed for safety while she led the men on a wild goose chase. When the men followed her, she realized she was their target for assassination, not her friend. She had to get out of Afghanistan as soon as possible.
In her getting out of the city, she rode in the back of a food truck. When she got off the truck, she literally dropped at the foot of Stone’s team who was also trying to get out. They joined forces until Stone managed to extract them from Afghanistan. She told them she was a journalist caught behind the lines.
As they head for the safety of the US, she and Stone began to feel stirrings of attraction between them. However, this was impossible because someone wanted her dead and she didn’t know who or why. It wasn’t fair to being Stone in on this mess.

What a fantastic start to a new division of the brotherhood protectors world. A
Stone is a total alpha male. Strong, built and gorgeous but it's his moral code and soul that call to you. Rescuing men that were like family to him and doing everything to secure their future because he cared. His relationship with his father is heartfelt, their bond and love bounce from the pages.
Kyle is a kick ass independent woman who can more than look after herself and anyone else. But watching her deal with such a lonely life and the scars from her past, which is what no doubt made her ideal for the job she did, it was beautiful to watch her realise she was more than what she did for a living. She deserves to be happy. Deserves all the goodness about to be bestowed upon her.
Watching Stone and Kyle traverse the road to finding whoever wanted to kill her whilst dealing and acting upon their amazing chemistry was totally spellbinding and addictive. Kyle was strong enough to match Stone perfectly. Their chemistry off the charts. Their bond strong enough to warm the coldest of hearts.
Their attraction was beautiful to watch. The whole story just welcomes you with open arms, pulling you in and offering you friendships and family as you get a front seat to a wondrous story unfolding.
Elle James has once again knocked it out of the park. Such a fantastic start to a new branch of protectors. It was beautifully written, the depth and potential of all characters leaving you aching for more. Absolutely first class. Definitely recommend. Way more than 5 stars!!!

What a great start to the new series of Brotherhood Protectors and the Yellowstone division. A group made up of former special forces individuals ready to start their civilian life doing what they love and do best, protecting those in need.
We are introduced to the group and their leader, former Navy SEAL Stone Jacobs, as well as undercover CIA agent, Kyla Russell , get their story.
Kyla is in Afghanistan assigned to assassin a man supposedly in the wrong, but her instincts and investigations made her question her orders. In the midst of helping the man she’s almost killed. On the run she meets up with Stone and his group of mercenaries. Men that had been rescued as well.
Still undercover she ends up with the team in Montana. From that moment on , the action continues, as does the attraction between Stone and Kyla.
As they all team together to right the wrong , we get a chance to meet up with some of the characters from previous books.
This action packed, suspense romance, will grab your attention from the first page to the last, leaving you anxiously waiting for the next book in the series.
Kudos also to the author for presenting a strong female character, but also for reminding us that as individuals and as a nation , we need to do more for those returning brave men and woman who are willing to keep us safe .
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

New series within the Brotherhood Protectors series.

This is the first book in the Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone. Stone owns a security type company with his ex military team to aid in Afghanistan after the US pulls out. Part of his team is stuck and hiding from the Taliban in some caves. He calls on his buddy Hank to help him get his men out. Near the same time Kyla is an assassin with the CIA. She has a hit to make but it doesn’t feel right. As she follows her mark she realizes the dossier she received is not factual at all. As she confronts the man a team comes after them. Kyla realizes the men are after her not the man and his wife. She leads them away from them to just her. As she escapes she literally falls at the feet of Stone’s guys. She heads out with them and is extracted with them out of the country.

Kyla tells them all she is a journalist. She changes the subject often and no real clear understanding why she was there and who she works for. There is some slow chemistry starting between Stone and Kyra. Once back in the states and in Montana the truth comes out.

Stone speaks with Hank about a Brotherhood Protectors in Yellowstone. Hank is ahead of Stone and hires him and his team for this new division. Ms. James writes some kick-butt females and doesn’t disappoint in this first book of a new series.

Action packed start to this story, it's intense and exciting full of suspense. Intriguing plot that is based on betrayal and fleeing for their lives, at one point it isn't just Kyla that needs saving. I loved that the team had simply scooped her up and taken her with them, plus the rescue. Once questions start it was great that she trusted them not to delay to long in giving the truth. She is strong and certainly more than able to hold her own but with whats was happening it had shaken her, not having any backup or someone to go to or turn to showed just how alone she was. Stone is fabulous, even knowing she was still hiding something he trusted his instincts and gave help and protection, plus a whole lot more. Loved the characters and that there is action and a genuine threat, so there are patches of action throughout. Some plots start out great and then it just turns to romance with the danger part dying a quiet death, thankfully this wasn't one of those. The climax isn't long drawn out but does give a finale and answers. I already know I'm going to be reading the rest of the series and possibly branching into the other ones by this author. Well written with a fairly fast flow, I loved it.

Kyla is a CIA agent and part of a secret assassination group. She is undercover as a journalist and is sent to Afghanistan to kill a man. Kyla always researches her marks before killing them. She doesn't kill innocent people or children. Kyla can find nothing on her mark and decides to talk to him. While they are talking, a van with masked men pull up and starts shooting. Kyla helps the man and his wife escape but the men are after her. She has to figure out a way to get back to the States. While hiding in a fruit truck, she jumps out and lands at the feet of some military men.
Stone owns a security company and is having a hard time getting some of his men out of Taliban. He calls a buddy, Hank, from his SEAL days because he owns a security company too. His men are trapped in a cave and are being fired upon. After getting them out he notices an extra man. It's Kyla. She is able to hitch a ride back with them. Once they get back to the States, they stay Hank at his ranch. Kyla needs to find out who burned her. Will she be able to figure out who put the hit on her and will Stone forgive her for lying?
Great story. Action. Betrayal. Sex. It was hard to put down. It will have you hooked from the very first page.

This Brotherhood Protectors novel starts off a little differently. Hank Patterson’s crew was asked to rescue another team of Seals hiding out in the mountains of Afghanistan. Stone had previously been on Hank’s Seals team when Hank was enlisted. Hank would do anything to help a former teammate, so they arrange a rescue mission. Only, they end up with an “extra” American—Kyla.

While running away from men who are out to kill her, Kyla luckily stumbles into a group of American soldiers. They vow to help her and take her back to the cave with them. They believe she’s a journalist. Little do they know she’s a hired assassin for the CIA AND she has a price on her head. She heads back to the states, thinking she’s no longer in danger….

This novel is fast-paced, unique, insta-love, romantic suspense. I enjoy reading romantic suspense novels where the heroine is kick-butt, strong! This was definitely a page turner, suspenseful. I also enjoyed the transition into the next series of Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone. I can’t wait to see what kind of crazies Yellowstone has! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Action-packed is putting it mildly for the storyline in Elle James' new series, Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone. The first book in the series, Saving Kyla, starts out in Afghanistan where there are assassins, battles, and edge-of-your-seat extractions to safety and the danger doesn't end when everyone is safely back in the states. The heroine in this story, Kyla Russel finds herself a target of some unknown nefarious agents while hero ex-Navy SEAL Jacob Stone is determined to keep Kyla safe and doesn't want to let her out of his sight. Well, there's a lot of chemistry between Kyla and Jake too. So you know what that means...

In this story we are introduced to Stone Jacobs and his team of ex-military men who worked for Stone's security company in Afghanistan. With the Taliban taking over Afghanistan after the United States withdrawal Stone's team was stranded in Afghanistan. This is such a timely story and I loved it! I am looking forward to seeing each team member meet their "one and only" in the next books in the series.

I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

I received a free copy of the paramilitary romantic suspense Saving Kayla: Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone: book 1 by Elle James and this review was given freely.
Elle James seamlessly blends a review of the Montana Brotherhood Protectors with an introduction to the Yellowstone branch hopeful Stone Security Specialists crew in this suspenseful action and drama packed story of coming home, building a life after the military, and of Government corruption. Contains a supportive family of former military specialists, some violence, and touches of steam.
When American Stone Jacob enlists his former teammate Hank Patterson to help complete the unsanctioned extract of his operatives, who were entrapped by the Taliban in reclaimed Afghanistan, Stone’s plans for a simple mission, a chance for a permanent position with Hank, and a permanent reunion with his father in Yellowstone become complicated by his intense attraction to the secretive US journalist aka the hiding US Government based professional assassin Kyla Russell.

A great start to a new series of the Brotherhood Protectors which starts of with plenty of action and a h that kicks a**. Kyla is an assassin for the US gov’t, part of an elite team that isn’t on the books and she gets betrayed, becoming the hunted instead of the Hunter while overseas. Luckily Stone is doing an extraction of his team that is trapped in the same area that Kyla escapes to and her only hope is catching a ride with Stone and his team back to the US. Stone is intrigued by Kyla, who says she is a freelance reporter but he senses there is more to the woman and when she shows her hidden skills…will Stone accept her truth when all is revealed.
A great read with a bit of steam, suspense, action and great characters all around. I loved Kyla, strong, capable, deadly and an assassin with a conscience. These two matched perfectly and I also loved the no drama between them and seeing past characters getting right into the action.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

Ms. James brings another branch of the Brotherhood Protectors to Yellowstone and what an addition to ever-growing satellite branches it is. Ms. James grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn't let go until the very end. I love the heroine, Kyla, as she is an assassin. It's a very fine line she walks because males are typically more accepted as assassins. She is though, athletic, strong, and independent. She can kick anyone's ass, male or female. She doesn't need a man but she wants one. She longs for something she thinks she doesn't deserve and can't have anyway.

Stone is a former Navy SEAL who has been away from home too long. He has one last mission before he can go home. He and Hand rescue a team of mercenaries who work for him. His team is full of hot, sexy SEALS that adopted Kyla as their mascot as she literally falls at their feet before they are rescued.

Stone is strong, sexy, smart, and very attracted to Kyla. Sparks and bullets fly in this first new installment of the series. I can't wait to see what is next for this group in Yellowstone!

This book is a great start for a new series. It has two strong characters, Stone Jacob, a former Navy Seal and Kyla Russel, a CIA International Assassin undercover as a journalist. Stone has gone in with a group of Hank Patterson Brotherhood Protector's to rescue his team from Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Kyla has the mission in Afghanistan to kill a man, but baulks when the man doesn't deserve it.

Kyla ends up running for her life and bumps into Stone's Team and gets rescue along with his team. Kyle hides her talent and Stone starts protecting her. By the time she gets to Yellowstone, Kyle and Stone attraction have grows into being a couple and also their love. You will have to read the book to find out all of the trouble Kyla, Stone and the team get into because Kyle's handler, Taliban, and powerful people want her dead.

I received a free copy of this book for a honest review. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys action, adventure, strong woman, military action, dependability and loyalty, teams, family, partnerships, suspense and, of course, romance.

Halfway through and nothing is happening. Expensive for 193 pages!

Wow this is boring! I’m halfway through and nothing is happening. For £4.29 it’s short as well at 193 pages. It’s advertised as 209 pages, but the epilogue is about the next book, which I find cheeky.

Kyla is an assassin for whom I don’t know. I’m presuming it’s the government, but it hasn’t said yet. When she’s ordered to kill an innocent man, she refuses and helps him to escape. She’s got assassin’s after her as they want to keep her quiet. When she stumbles on mercenaries that are fleeing the country, she escapes with them. Stone owns the company that hired the mercenaries to Afghanistan. He’s attracted to her but doesn’t believe that she’s a journalist. She’s attracted to him but she thinks he won’t like the truth about her. For nearly half the book it’s him thinking about her and vice versus.

I give up. Absolutely nothing happens. I really don’t need a page describing the plane, food, and seats. Or Kyla’s constant musing on who ordered her to be killed.

What a stunning start to a new branch of the Brotherhood Protectors with this first story in the Yellowstone Branch of the group.

Stone Jacobs runs a group of ex special forces from his Yellowstone ranch and he hopes to eventually become a member of the Brotherhood team after all he and Hank served together but his men are trapped in Afghanistan after the troop withdrawal. Meanwhile is men have collected Kyla Russell a reporter who is actually a assassin employed by the US government who has determined that the man she was sent to kill is innocent With her boss determined to eliminate her the only chance she has to survive is the team she has joined Once home the connection between Jacob and Kyla is instant now he and his men with the help of other Brotherhood teams will need to bring Kyla's boss to justice. Looking forward to more stories of how this team meets their one and only

And the Brotherhood Protectors go to Yellowstone as well – another team! Existing Brotherhood Protectors fans will be thrilled to see so many “old” friends in this, and the new team is a great addition. Kyla is an inadvertent part of Stone and the original Brotherhood team’s rescue of Stone’s team in Afghanistan, and she is “assigned” to Stone as the first case in Yellowstone. It seems impossible, but Elle James outdoes herself with each new book and each new team, and she’s done that again. The chemistry between Kyla and Stone, the camaraderie of the team, Hank’s relationship with Sadie and his kids – it’s all wonderfully written. Kyla is understandably reticent about her background and skills, but she is a perfect match for Stone and the Brotherhood. This is a must-read – the suspense doesn’t let up, there is absolutely no way to put this down before the end.

This book kicks a** and takes names, just like the main characters. Kyla is a CIA trained officer and assassin who has been tasked with an order in Afghanistan. The job goes sideways and she realizes her cover is blown. The aid of a group of men, help she escape long enough to wait out their rescue from the country as well. I’m comes Stone. He is their boss of stone securities who had them on a job before the Taliban took over the country. Now with the help of Hank and the brotherhood protectors his team and Kyla got out of the country. This book had lots of action and angst. You could immediate feel the chemistry and connection between stone and Kyla. Loved that she didn’t hide things beyond what was necessary and got their help and gave them the rush as soon as she could. Awesome book. Can’t wait for more.

Kyla Russell, an assassin posing as a freelance journalist in A-stan, refused an order and became her employer’s target but was able to hitch a ride when the brotherhood swooped in to help former SEAL Stone Jacobs get his merc team home after being left behind. Hank accepts Stone and his team working Brotherhood Yellowstone, Kyla too. Stone and Hank suspect Kyla’s hiding something. When she gives the team partial truth Hank makes her Stone’s first assignment.

A night on the town and a handsy drunk has Kyla showing some skill when he crowds Sadie, stirring wonder within the team. On the way to their new base, Kyla and Stone notice a drone tracking them. Kyla takes the shot the team in awe and Stone calmly asks for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Kyla and Stone

Kyla is a former CIA hired assassin.
Stone is a new member of the newly formed Brotherhood Protectors
Yellowstone.

Stone has a mission with former teammate Hank Patterson to rescue
his personnel (Stone Security Specialists) that were left behind when
U S troops withdrew from Afghanistan. When the mission was completed
they had an extra person, who was rescued, Kyla Russell.

Kyla was running from a botched up mission for The CIA.
Someone is trying to kill her. Who, What, Where. You will have to purchase
The book to find out.

I really enjoyed this book with the aspect of bringing together the original
Montana Brotherhood Protectors to introduce The Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone.

Great Job. Elle James !!!

Kyla finds herself in Afghanistan working undercover for the CIA on a mission to eliminate a person they believe is a threat however she soon realizes there is much more to the situation than she has been told. Her choice to do the right thing has placed her in danger and it was only by chance that she found Stone and his team and managed to escape.

Stone is helping rescue a team of men who were stranded in Afghanistan when Kyla comes into his life. Returning to the US is only the beginning of the adventure as the people who are after Kyla aren’t about to just let her walk away.

As the chemistry escalates between them so does the danger as Kyla and Stone find themselves in the fight of their lives.

A new group of guys and a new location for the Brotherhood Protector's. Stone gets together with Hank and his guys to go to Afghanistan to get Stone's men out after they are left there in country when the U.S. pulls out. When they get there his team has picked up Kyla and taken them with her. What's her story? Why is she there and what is she there for? Lots of questions that will have to wait till they get to Yellowstone. In the meantime, there's lots of action, drama, suspense, secrets and betrayal. Oh, and the chemistry between Stone and Kyla. Ellie has given us another great series and I can't wait to see the other guys get their HEA and to see where we go next in Yellowstone.

I just love a Brotherhood Protectors book!!! Throw in a badass female assassin, trying to do the right thing while protecting everyone whilst falling in love and I'm hooked.

Seeing Kyla struggling to let everyone one "protect" her only to have the scene in the bar with Kyla protecting Sadie and kicking some ass was one of my favorite scenes in the book. Then the drone scene and all the guys in shock and dare I say admiration and respect for Kyla, is what I love about these kinds of books.

Kyla and Stone were the perfect characters to start this series off and I can't wait to read the rest of the guys' stories.

This is book 1 in the Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone series and it features Stone and Kyla.  When they pulled out of Afghanistan, he never expected to have an extra passenger especially not one so pretty.  Kyla has her secrets and they are HUGE as secrets go.  She never dreamed a future was possible with the handsome Navy SEAL.

This story line is fantastic!  The characters are amazing and are people I’d love to be friends with.  The suspense of wondering if they would ever catch up with her was perfect!  It all came together rather quick but complete.  I can’t wait to read more from the Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone.

A fantastic start to a new branch of the Brotherhood Protectors. Stone and his team are back from Afghanistan after being trapped there. Now all needing a fresh start Stone has idea for them. In the meantime Kyla who was also on the run for her life is their hitchhiker. Helping her escape there is a lot more to her than what they are told. Also to lighten the mood, sparks of chemistry are flying.
She had no plans to stay knowing there was a hit on her and she could put the others in danger. I enjoyed she was a kickarse woman who could take care of herself.
Bullets are flying and there is plenty of action in this story.
I really enjoyed it.

Stone Jacobs goes to the Middle East to extricate a team of military spec ops men who are unable to get out as they are surrounded by taliban insurgents. While he and other Brotherhood Protectors are getting these people out while under fire, Stone sees a woman in the mix. For some reason, during the time it takes to get everyone home, Stone is immediately attracted to Kyla, and she is attracted to him. Kyla is a lone wolf who has a secret that may just get her killed. Stone will do anything to protect her.
This story is a fast, non-stop ride that forces you to keep reading because you never know what's going to happen next.
A fascinating read!

4.5***** stars. As an elite specialist, Stone sent into the desert with two teams to rescue some trapped brothers. As a bonus, they bring back a rogue CIA assassin, Kyla who cannot carry out her mission. Something, more likely someone, stinks in Washington. She has a target on her back and he wants to keep her safe while he sorts out his feelings for her. Stone is ready to leave the military and makes a deal with Hank from Brotherhood Protectors to open an office in his home town. Interesting with lots of action and intrigue. Another 3 am finish!!

This is the first book in the new Elle James series Brotherhood Protectors Yellowstone. Former Navy SEAL, Stone Jacobs, with help from Hank Patterson's Brotherhood Protectors, goes back to Afghanistan to rescue his team and bring them back to the United States. To his surprise, there is an additional member of the group. Her name is Kyla Russell and she tells everyone she is a journalist but she is really an international assassin.
Stone sets up his Yellowstone division at his father’s lodge. When her past catches up with her, Stone and his men fight the enemies and save her life. Stone and Kyla realize they are perfect for each other and they have their HEA.

Excellent introduction to the new Brotherhood Protectors Group located in Yellowstone. We don’t spend much time but this book has introduced most of the startup characters Stone, head honcho and the rest of his old team Hunter, Bubba, Carter, Dax and Moe along with Kyla who was saved several time but also can hold her own, as well as Stone's father and others from the ranch Cookie and Tinker who feed abd her renovate the barn into this groups due Area of Operations for the Brotherhood. There’s a lot going on in this one so hang on to your hats and let the story take you on another Brotherhood Journey

This book is a little bit fast, naturally the story fast paced as well. Kyla is a badass international assassin work for government, but on her last mission something wrong happened so she bailed. On her way to run from people who tried to kill her, she met Stone whom on his way wrapping up mission and comeback to US. Kyla pretend to be a freelance journalist, and hitch a ride with Stone to US. Both felt some insta feeling but things got complicated when Kyla's past try to catch her.

I would say the book is good, but I wish more action through the ending. But I enjoy reading Kyla's badass-ness, so 3,5 stars is enough.
