Honor rules through violence.

None of us expected anyone would be stupid enough to sell in our territory. Shabu Eight is our product; Vegas stays hooked, and the money keeps flowing.

But when our newest rivals claim to be selling our product in our territory, we investigate. All the signs lead back to Tokyo, but nothing is as simple as it seems.

The yakuza are different in Vegas. There is no code of protection for our fellow man. In the west, violence is our punishment.

Because it doesn’t matter who you are. When you cross the Endo-kai, you pay the price.

Even if the cost is your life.

Author’s Note: This is a short story prequel that introduces the characters of The Endo-kai Mafia Series. It is not a full-length romance novel, but it still contains dark content. Reader discretion is advised.

Prequel into the Endo-kai Mafia series. Interesting and fast paced dark romance. This prequel introduces: Zenzo, Dice, Cherry and Niko. Children of Tomo who is the boss. It's evident that this family is ruthless and deadly. When a supposed ally begins selling the same drug that the Endo-kai distributes, tensions began to flare amongst the group.

You can see in the multiple POV's that not everyone in the fami!y agrees with their father or the way certain individuals get away with more than others. This prequel was very promising and I can only imagine what's coming next. I mean what's worse than go urging eyeballs out of someone's eye sockets 😳

Dark mafia romance with lots of blood, dark and spooky vibe with a subtle hint of suspense, strong FMC, and badass characters! Isn't this enough? I literally have no words

Suspense: 💀💀💀💀💀

Lethal Honor is just the prequel to what Audrey Rush had planned. The book got me hooked from the beginning. It's fast-paced and great for a quick read! The story follows the lead members of the Yakuza (Endo Kai Mafia Series): Kenzo, Cherry, Niko, and Dice. and their POV.

I swear the bloody scenes are so creative, instantly I got excited. Moreover, the way the characters thought about their *prey* was entertaining! The next book to the series will be up very soon. Y'all JUMP INTO THIS BOOK STRAIGHT UP!

This was a short novella designed to introduce us to the world and the characters. I love Audrey Rush's books and this short story definitely geared me up for another good one. I'm excited about Cunning Lies!

All things considered, I felt this one was a little lacking. The buildup and the tension was there, I just wanted more of it. Maybe I'm greedy. I'll go read the other book now.

This is a great intro to the characters of the Endo-kai Mafia series. We meet Kenzo, Dice, Cherry and Niko and learn their roles with-in the Endo-Kai. This short read is fast-paced, dark and twisted with plenty of suspense. I can't wait for more of this series and to learn more about this family!.

“As far as my position goes in the Endo-kai yakuza, I’m the Sokaiya—the corporate blackmailer—and I run public relations for our front-facing company, Samurai Corporation. But in my off-time, I also manage drug relations for our imported meth and MDMA mix, Shabu Eight. Three jobs keep me entertained.”

2. Dice
Anak angkat Tomo yang kedua. Datang dari keluarga multi etnis.
“Dice is taller than us by a foot and a half. Like me, he’s a hafu born in the United States.” - Cherry

“Dice, on the other hand, had a Japanese mother, and from what we know, a Korean-American father.” - Cherry

Kenzo mengakui Dice sebagai chosen brother.
“Dice, Tomo’s other adoptive son and my chosen brother...” - Kenzo

“As the lead enforcer, my job is to capture people like these rivals, and eventually—after Tomo has retrieved the information he wants—kill them.”

“My gaze stops on a jar along the back wall. Globes of slimy flesh bob in the alcohol, like buoys in a sea. The eyes are dotted with color: blue, green, brown, black. There’s even a hazel set.”

“Our self-appointed outcast.” - Cherry

Dice terobsesi dengan seorang penari klub bernama Lily.
“Dice isn’t the kind of person to talk about things, and every time that I’ve gone to the Gilded Stage with him, he stares at his crush like she’s a glowing, neon insect trap and he’s the moth. He doesn’t say a word to her, and to be honest, it’s creepy. Still, he’s never said anything about the Gilded Stage, only that Lily is off-limits.” - Kenzo

3. Cherry/Sakura
“I’m lucky that I have both of my parents, but I’m a rare breed in the yakuza.”

“Cherry’s half-Japanese, half-Polish, but she leans into her mother’s features; some people don’t realize that she’s a hafu until they learn that Tomo is, in fact, her father.” - Kenzo

“No one tells you that being the only daughter and personal bodyguard of a yakuza boss means practically babysitting him.”

Ia gigih membuktikan dirinya mampu melakukan pekerjaan seperti saudara-saudaranya yang lain untuk mengambil alih tanggung jawab bisnis ilegal ayahnya.
“You have authority when it comes to my safety, not when it comes to other parts of the yakuza.” - Tomo

“You want to lead?” he asks. I nod. “Then show me you can handle your current position with honor. Everywhere we go, you represent me. Don’t take this position lightly, Cherry. It’s an honor. I trust only you to stand by my side.” - Tomo

Meski begitu Cherry selalu menghormati Tomo dan mengikuti hukum dan peraturan Yakuza.
“I may not want to be the oyabun’s personal bodyguard, but in the end, if you hurt my father, my boss, my kumicho? You’re a dead man. Even if I’m Tomo’s blood, I still follow the yakuza code. You obey your kumicho above all else. And that means listening to your boss when he says to stop, even if you want to flatten your prisoner’s skull.”

4. Niko
Anak kandung Tomo yang kedua. Saudara tiri Cherry/Sakura. Tomo second-in-command. Ia menganggap ayahnya sebagai a weak-minded boss.
“I’m his son. His second-in-command. His precious wakagashira. As wakagashira, the underboss of the Endo-kai yakuza, I’m the one who makes sure everything runs like it’s supposed to. Tomo—my father and the true boss of our organization—gives orders; I make adjustments. The old man isn’t as brutal as he used to be; sometimes, it takes someone like me to make sure that the Endo-kai flourishes. I don’t sympathize with soft hearts like his.”

“The only romance that I find is in death. It’s pathetic”

Lethal Honor is a prequel to introduce characters that will be staring in Audrey Rush’s new Endo-Kai series. As such, it is not a whole or complete story, but a snippet that manages to detail all the things that are going to rock this yakuza world. Niko, Kenzo, Cherry, and Dice - the children of the Kumicho of the Endo-Kai, are about to find themselves in a war that will either wither them as a family, or strengthen their fragile bonds. Each has a darkness that will either break them or make them stronger amongst the others. The trouble is… can they trust each other now that an old enemy has come nipping at their heels?

Honestly, I cannot wait to read the next chapter of this cunning tail of darkness and the seedy world of the unseen mafia. Ms. Rush has never disappointed me as far as her ability to spin a tale, nor with her charming characters. Just do not be surprised to find that they are all deliciously broken and wildly dark beings who live in a cruel reality. Even in this little snippet, there are plenty of triggers waiting to grab you, as well as unsettling descriptions and hints of darkness yet uncovered. If you like dark villains, flawed heros, and broken people… Then this is the series that you are going to want to read, especially from the uncommon subject in Western Mafia tropes of the Yakuza.

This one was a gamble for me. And for the author, because here I am picking up a genre I have NEVER read before. But every since joining BookSirens, I have been experimenting with different genres, and it was time I tried a dark mafia story. Moreover, I’ve seen Audrey Rush on social media, and her books have always intrigued me.

I also want to mention that I’m all for prequels like these. They are an excellent option for authors to test the waters and also help introduce genres to people, like me, who normally hesitate to pick a book like this.

As for Lethal Honor, I absolutely loved it! Being a die-hard Japanophile, having a yakuza family in the story’s center helped. I loved how it’s situated in Vegas, which I presume will lead to some clash of cultures in the main books.

Lethal Honor primarily introduces the main cast of the Endo-Kai mafia series, and each of the characters is super interesting. Having grown up watching and liking Korean and Japanese films like I Saw the Devil, OldBoy, Audition, and Battle Royal, the “dark” stuff, while it made me wince, was still okay.

Audrey Rush’s writing is lovely, to the point, descriptive, and, most importantly, fast-paced. I look forward to reading the series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I thought this book was fun short and beautiful, from the gore, sexual chemistry, darkness and violence it was a masterpiece that I would love to read more from her published backlog and continue this series.

I think this could have been a little longer, which would have pulled you into the story a little more and I got a little confused because of all the multiple points of view but I think it was great as a novella introducing the book series as a whole. The main male leads were written so well that I enjoyed their chapters more than others, but I would definitely be down to read the next book in this series.

It's hard to talk about the character arcs and how they developed as this was just a taste of the books to come in this series going forward so I wouldn't say anything on that front but I would say they have a lot of potential for good character arcs.

I loved the writing and the way you get sucked into the world enough to lose count of the pages so I would recommend this as a taster for her work as it's not the darkest thing I have read but would use trigger warnings in this series if they are not already thought about.

Okay.

Okayokayokay.

I’ve been meaning to read her books for the longest time but this is technically my first Audrey Rush book and I am absolutely flabbergasted because while I’m familiar with dark romance, there are times when I meet a character that I know in my heart is different from everyone else, and in this case it was Dice.

Is he a little fucked up? Insane? Off his rocker and obsessive? Yes, yes, and yes. But was I completely enamored with his character after reading a mere 11 pages in his POV? Also yes.

This was such an interesting peek into Audrey’s writing and some of her characters, and while I think I love Dice the most right now, all of these characters were interesting in one way or another and I absolutely cannot wait for all four of their books to come out. In the meantime, I’ll be reading her other books because after this, there’s no way I won’t like her other characters.

My ranking right now is Dice, Niko, Cherry, and Kenzo. I can’t wait to see if this changes as I read the next books!

Arc received in exchange for an honest review.

It's a good prequel, in that it makes it clear who the players are in this new series. It is already becoming a bit clear what the mutual relationships are, what they want. However, there is also so much that is not clear, and that should of course be made clear in the individual stories.
This prologue doesn't really have a storyline, so there's no cliffhanger. It's really just an introduction. There is quite a lot of sadistic violence in it, and because it's only a short story, proportionally more violence, and little character building and relational or romantic development. That is a shame for this kind of book, because what I like to read in the stories of this author, is that the characters, despite their obvious shortcomings, also have characteristics that make them more accessible. There is almost none of this in this short story.
The author has an easy-to-read writing style and good build up.

“I’m not afraid of crossing boundaries.”

Wow! I can’t believe how much was packed into four chapters! This is absolutely a prequel as it just introduces the very complex and twisted players in what is sure to be a series darker than anything else Audrey has written, and that’s saying a lot!

This prequel introduction had my heart pounding. I’m super excited Kenzo is going to be first as I found him to be the most interesting. I loved his obsession with Heart! I also found myself drawn to Niko, so many hints at his inner depths. I see a shattered heart somewhere deep inside him. Cherry is very complex and should have a great story as well. My only real concern is Dice. At first I was drawn to him and the way he secretly loves this woman he wants to protect even from himself. But by the end of his chapter I can’t help but think he’s so seriously messed up I don’t know what Audrey can do with him. Clearly my appetite has been whet and I can’t wait to get started.

Lethal Honor

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

How could anyone be stupid enough to sell Shabu Eight in our territory? Shabu Eight is our product. It sells in Vegas, the users stay hooked, and the money keeps flowing like free wine.

But it seems a couple are selling what our newest rivals claim to be our product, in our territory now. All the signs lead right back to Tokyo, but nothing is ever as simple as it seems.

The yakuza are different in Vegas. There isn't any code of protection for our fellow man. In the west, violence is the only punishment.
It doesn't matter who you are or what you claim is the truth because when you cross the Endo-kai, you pay the ultimate price.
Even if it costs you your life, and it probably will.

Audrey Rush never disappoints her readers. This is dark mafia at it's finest. This is a small prequel you won't want to miss. It is dark and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Once again Ms. Rush I just wanted to say thank you for using that brilliant mind of yours to write these books for your readers.

This is the prequel to this new Dark Mafia series introducing you to the Endo-kai Mafia with Tomo as Boss with daughter Cherry as his bodyguard & three adopted sons, Niko second in command, Dice enforcer, Kenzo make sure things run smoothly with everything including Shabu Eight.
This prequel sets up the characters so you get a little background on them they all have a little darkness to them each their own special form of justice how they deal with things.
I definitely recommend to read this book before "KENZO'S" story in "CUNNING LIES" this was full of suspense, intrigue, violence, fast paced can't wait for next book I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I loved reading this dark mafia story. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. Her writing skills bring her stories to life. Her attention to details make her stories realistic. This book is no different . I loved being pulled into the story by the characters from the start. This is a well written story that is not only fast paced but hard to put down. A story that introduces us to some new characters and I cant wait to see what happens next with them. This is a fast paced story but it is dark in spots but it just added to the enjoyment of this story. There is great growth of the plot and characters throughout. This is a shorter story you don't want to miss out on for sure. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Rush into the darkness...

This is a prequel, so be prepared for short. It introduces the characters of the Endo-kai Mafia Series, which seems to be scheduled for a July/August release.

There is no romance, but there's a taste of dark as you get your first look at the main characters: Kenzo (the blackmailer and distributor), Niko (the underboss), Dice (the interrogator), and Cherry (the boss's personal bodyguard).

Each character gets a chapter as the main conflict is set. You get JUST enough of the characters to know you HAVE to read more. Now I'm anxiously waiting on the 1st novel in this series!

Audrey Rush has given us an exciting beginning to her new series - The Endo-Kai Mafia series. Although this book is a prequel (short) it is packed with information on her newest characters. The "boss" Tomo has quite a large family, all with important jobs. In the prequel we meet Kenzo, an adopted son, Cherry, his daughter, Niko, his son and Dice his adopted son. They all have different jobs in the Endo-Kai.

Although this was a prequel of just a few chapters I really enjoyed it. Audrey Rush did an awesome job and left us wanting more, the job of a prequel. I am excited to read the first book of the series Cunning Lies.

Lethal Honor is a prequel to a new series. We get a glimpse of the main characters, their dark side and their roles in the Endo-Kai, a Japanese mafia.
A war is brewing. The children of
of Kumicho of the Endo-kai must bond together or lose everything they've worked for. Kumicho isn't as strong as he use to be. Therefore, it's up to Kenzo, Nicko, Dice and Cherry to protect him the Endo-Kai at all costs.
Can't wait for next installment Cunning Lies!! Kenzo's story!

Lethal Honor by Audrey Rush is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ all the way.

this is not my first go at a dark mafia romance story but this one just hits differently. It's a prequel to Cunning Lies, and lets us get a peek behind the curtain, so to speak, at the characters and what role they play.
This quick book has so much crammed into it but at the same time it's just a little teaser for taste. Between the violence, death, suspense and a ruthless family so it hit's all the marks for me and kept me on the edge of my seat. I am eagerly excited for the next book to be out.

This was a very short prequel to her new yakuza-style mafia series. Like a 30-40min read. But it was a great introduction to the series and main characters. There's no spice since it's basically just setting the scene for the series, but if this prequel is anything to go by, then the series is set to be a very dark read; I'd even venture to say it seems like it could be a good rival/follow up series for den of vipers. But I'll have to read the series to see if my prediction is accurate. I have not yet read this authors other work so I have no idea what to expect or if this is on par with her other books. But this prequel was promising and I cannot start this series quick enough!

4 Stars for Lethal Honor by Audrey Rush

This is a new author for me and I enjoyed this short prequel! I read Lethal Honor in one sitting.

The setting is Las Vegas and the series coming will be based on the Watanabe Family of the Japanese mafia.

You are introduced to several characters in the family! There are many terms readers may not be familiar with - the author does a great job giving the definitions in the foreword!

I would definitely be interested in reading this series !

I didn’t realize this is a prequel to a new series the author is writing titled: Dark Mafia. It is short and includes or introduces you the members of the Endo-kai Mafia. We start with Tomo as Boss; his daughter Cherry is his bodyguard and then he has 3 adopted sons: Niko - 2nd in command; Dice - enforcer; and, Kenzo - does everything else. I enjoyed it. I wished I had a book and not pieces of it but hopefully the author will give us a novel and not bit’s and pieces.

The prequel to the Endo-kai mafia series doesn't disappoint. When a supposed ally begins selling the same drug as that Endo-kai does, issues and tension begin to arise.

We meet some of our main characters, and with the multiple POVs, can see how each person feels about what is happening. It's a short, bloody story that you can only get from Audrey Rush. You easily get sucked into this world, and even when someone is having their eyeballs gouged from the sockets, you're still reading and coming back for more.

Dark mafia romance with strong FMC, and badass characters and multiple POV's.

This prequel introduces: Tomo the Boss with daughter, Cherry his bodyguard, Niko second in command, Dice the enforcer, Kenzo the soother. It's evident that this family is ruthless and deadly, there is a lot of bloody and intrigue. I loved it and can’t wait for the rest of this series to come out. This is a very good introduction of the characters with enough to start choosing your favorite (Mine is Dice) and looking forward to the outcome of it all.

I was lucky enough to be graced with an ARC of the prequel to the new series centered around the Endo-kai mafia. As always, I’m keeping it 💯 with you all…
I. Am. Excited. 😂 I CANNOT wait for this series to start rolling. I really like the vibe&the workings of the Endo-kai&can’t wait to meet more of Kenzo’s crazy. Cherry sounds like a boss B&Dice may not say a lot but he’s GIVING me a lot. Niko has some skeletons in his closet I see, but we’ll unpack that later I assume. 👀😂

⚠️warning⚠️

Torture, murder, drugs, Japanese mafia

This short story introduces the main characters of The Endo-kai Mafia Series. The prequel foreshadows the interconnected mafia plot throughout the series. We met: Kenzo - second in command for Endo-kai yakuza, the corporate blackmailer and runs public relations for our front-facing company, Samurai Corporation. Dice - the outcast enforcer, Niko - the underboss of Endo-kai and Cherry - bodyguard and Tomo and Gracie’s only child from full blood. Niko is a half-son. Dice and Kenzo are adopted.

I loved everything about this prequel to the Endo-kai Mafia series. The plot is excellent. The characters are intriguing. There are definitely triggers, none of which bothered me, at all.
