Can a Machiavellian furry and a laid-back Rugby player find love? Are cunning and clever tricks the path to happily ever after? And why are all those furries being dragged out of the City Council meeting?
Arugula J. Cunningham, the self-crowned wunderkind of the Seattle sports scene and city politics, is up to her ears (the tall floppy ones on top of her head) in problems. The new Mayor wants her to sign on full time, which would mean abandoning her thriving sports agency; her ex-girlfriend is furious; and the permits for the Furry Pride Parade still haven’t been approved. Just when it seems her life couldn’t get crazier, she’s run over (literally) by the most infuriating athlete she’s ever met.
Wendy Plunkett is a talented rugby player who has never quite committed to her dreams. After playing for the New Zealand national team and missing the Olympics by a cottontail’s whisker, she’s come to the US for a chance at bigger money – and to escape her toxic family. Now her contract is up in the air, and her whole family has descended on the US for a wedding from Hell. No bloody way she’s showing up at that wedding unemployed and single – but why did she have to tell her family that the aggravating girl in the rabbit ears is her soulmate?
Badgered is an enemies-to-lovers/fake relationship romantic comedy.
Featuring a brand-new hit song Don't Badger Me by Danni and the Muskrats!
Alex Washoe (they/them) is a nonbinary writer, game designer, and full-time pet parent living in Seattle, WA. In previous incarnations, they have been a bookseller, a wildlife rehab care assistant, a dog walker at a companion animal shelter, a public speaker, an amateur stand-up comedian, and many other less interesting things. Alex is prone to sudden, seemingly random enthusiasms — the list currently includes birdwatching, baking, running, hair dye … and of course writing. Writing is always job one.
Arugula J. Cunningham is a master manipulator with a brain about fifteen steps beyond everyone else. She’s a sports agent and has just gotten a new Mayor elected in Seattle. Now she is pulled into the role of Acting Chief of Staff while still recruiting the leading rugby player from New Zealand for the Seattle Badgers. Then she’s bowled over by Wendy when crossing the practice field. It’s instant magnetic and sensual attraction. A rabbit finds her badger. Great series.
This is a sweet, warm, and funny book. I learned a lot from reading this book. I learned about furries. I learned that no matter how much a person smile, they could be hurting inside. We should listen to each other more. When someone says they are fine, it really, really means they are not. Some are just holding on by a thread. Family is great whether it is found or biological, 1 or many. We can't control everything in our lives, especially the emotions of other people, but we can control how we interact with or react to the emotions of another person.
After getting to know the characters better, I was able to appreciate them. Whether the characters are realistic, I don't know. Flurry is completely new to me, so this way of life is difficult for me to understand. If you are open and want to read a turbulent story, you will have fun here.
Really enjoyed this book, they had their ups and downs in getting started, an most of the downs was because of misconstrud expectations from the Rabbit :-)
This is a funny book. I love the way Arulgula (a chosen name) and Wendy find their way together amidst the characters of Seattle. Plus, Wendy is from New Zealand and her expressions are hilarious.
