The Tao of Tantric Yoga is the response to people wanting to know more about the tantric and yogic paths. It is for alternatives who sense that there is something MORE to love and sex. The true longings of humans are behind all of the writing in this book. Perhaps you have grown so comfortable with your relationship that you are now wondering how to be as free and erotic as you used to be, or how to approach the topic of open relationships.
Perhaps you are single. Romantic love may not truly exist for you, but tantra can, and so can self-love by following a yogic lifestyle. This unique personal and helpful way of explaining things offers ways in which we can know ourselves so well that, with practice, our lives will change. Evolution is happening Now. We can become people with wisdom and compassion, communicating well, asking for what we want and getting it, and understanding that life is what we are creating for ourselves moment to moment. This book tells you how.
Yoga itself is 6,000 years old, it was re-popularized several times and now millions of people are partaking in practices of all sorts, from kundalini to yin. Tantric Yoga awakens us to a deeper understanding of our bodies, and how the body is connected to the expression and experience of the emotions, and the magnitude that comes with chakra purification and alignment.
The Tao of Tantric Yoga’s author Satyama Ratna Lasby is inspiring in her revelations with some of her erotic time spent in the ashram of Osho Rajneesh, the enlightened spiritual leader known for his radical approach to life and sex. He eloquently paved the way for unconventional and intelligent relating using neo-tantric meditations for wisdom and in-the-moment living. Osho spoke about tantra and its spiritual relationship to sex. She also tells of her time in Tamera in Portugal, a radically free-love community.
Growing pains in tantric practices are highlighted in communities like Koh Phangan, Thailand where tourists abound (looking for sex though maybe not ready to admit it), tantra teachers are born too quickly, and many “scandals” happen due to karma, desires unfulfilled, lack of communication, or differences in conditioning. There is more authentic curiosity than ever before from those wanting peak experiences in life and in their sexuality. The Tao of Tantric Yoga explains how body and mind are necessary for the awareness of healing, which includes sexual healing, where most carry wounds and fears which are covered by human behaviour and speech. Evolution is necessary.
Once healing has taken place, pleasure can occur, and once pleasure is experienced, there is no end to the heightened states possible through ritualizing sacred practices or simply by practicing and experimenting with consciousness and meditation (yoga).
There are many ways to do this; some are described, step by step so that you can try them in their life. Tantric rituals are given in detail, as are tantric sexual positions and the alignment of the chakras via yoga and sexual practices. The book is also an exploration what makes communities sustainable through their choice in spiritual practices, also in their choice of how to deal with conflicts that arise in relationships where love and sexuality are involved.
Behind all practices may be the doorway to how we live now, in a radically shifting paradigm that includes a look at how COVID is affecting us and how we can care about each other globally through yoga and knowing what tantra really is.
The Tao of Tantric Yoga is well written and detailed. The author, Satyama Ratna Lasby, eloquently intertwines sexuality, love, and spiritualism. The book is insightful and practical at the same time and advocates the principles of Hinduism and Buddhism using meditation and yoga. The author succinctly explains how Tantric Yoga awakens us to a deeper understanding of our bodies, and how the body is connected to the expression and experience of emotions and the magnitude that comes with chakra purification. It allows the reader to journey within to explore one's true Self and the deeper meanings of life.
Tantra is symbolically explained as reaching spiritual enlightenment through connecting with one's energy – which is at the heart of tantric yoga. It's not just about pleasure or sex. Tantra, as the author explains, promises a closer connection to the Divine through deeper intimacy with Self and others. Although tantra isn't sex, sexuality and sexual positions are referenced in order to help open certain centres of the body for spiritual benefit and unlimited pleasure.
The book is a how-to guide that appeals to women and men alike and those who are interested in understanding sexuality and alternative ways to love-making. It provides experimental guidance and alternative thinking that beautifully challenges orthodox perspectives. It articulates why energy, and energy transfer, is sacred in love-making and the discovery of sexual pleasure. The author cleverly presents information that can help push the boundaries of a complacent relationship by encouraging the reader to find new ways to be erotic and try new things to spice up one's life. The book is not just for couples but also single people who can find pleasure and self-love by following a yogic lifestyle.
The Tao of Tantric Yoga encourages its reader to spiritually awaken through deeper understandings of one's body, mind, and emotions and embrace the role chakras play in getting in touch with one's Higher Self. It further examines the importance of releasing fear and realising the value of awareness and healing, including sexual healing, in order for pleasure to occur. The author holistically delves into notions of Higher consciousness and meditation and presents a step-by-step guide to experiencing heightened states of pleasure through sacred practices either with oneself or another. She links yoga with tantra, and tantric yoga with the chakra system, meditation, and tantric love-making postures and goes further by providing insight on the kriyas to stop addictive behaviours. The book intimately illustrates tantric sexual positions and how to align the chakras through yoga and sexual practice. I found the inclusion of case studies interesting, particularly the spiritual practices of different communities in managing love and sexual relationships.
This book is a wonderful life guide. I would have loved a signed copy.
The Tao of Tantric Yoga, An Adventurer’s guide; is a book that addresses or takes an in-depth look into Tantra, Tantric Yoga, Yoga, and Meditation. The writer successfully attempts to put the subjects in perspective and to also clearly differentiate between them. Tantra and Tantric yoga are new topics to me but since they have been clearly outlined and explained, I now have a better and clearer understanding of them. The clear distinction between the topics, also helps clear the misconceptions about Tantra and Tantric Yoga — not only to me, but to other readers as well.
I am a newly practising yogini and just recently gotten into the interest of yoga and meditation for wholesome health purposes. And reading ‘The Tao of Tantric Yoga’ has certainly made me more enlightened and more informed. It has only added to my desire to know more and given me motivation to practice more. It has also certainly given me a new perspective.
The writer clearly describes the details in a plain and simplified manner that even a beginner can easily comprehend. It is well written, informative, educative, and eye-opening. The book offers a different perspective to those seeking higher levels of spirituality, wholeness, intimacy, life, sexuality, love, and happiness. It can be a guide towards a balanced life and lifestyle. It offers an alternative way towards healthy living — spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually. The step by step explanations makes it easy to understand and to follow, more especially for a beginner or someone new to the topics.
Thank you for the book. My knowledge has expanded. And It is certainly a guide to the adventurer willing to try new things and take life to the next level.
This book gives deep insight on the way of tantric yoga. A few practices mentioned in the book were extreme. I am yet to digest and assimilate it. However I understood the energy it would invoke in a woman's physical body. Or a man for that matter! I have to say, one would have to read this book at least twice given it's depth. I myself intend to read it one more time to grasp the underlying message. And a book is always more intriguing the second time around. I like the author's style of writing, it was pretty engaging. Maybe because yoga and chakra know how are very close to my heart, so I was engrossed in it all the way. I would recommend this book if one is looking to expand their understanding of the human body with respect to tantric yoga. I will be utilizing some of the techniques for sure. Especially eye gazing!
I'm the author, so I am biased to my own book of course.
I can tell you that writing it was a process of 3 years and while I wanted it to be a mix of personal intimate stories and teachings on yoga and in tantra, the personal got edited a lot. Although I have worked so much on me! and not caring what others think of me, I hesitate to launch into intimate details as I know there is still so much judgement going towards women on sexuality, and many think this book is highly sexual. I want you to think of it as a spiritual adventure. I has many good tips to discover tantra, self love, and things you likely don't know about natural health. Its radical, like me, and I wish that it brings more consciousness to the innate power women have to change society, sexual liberation and respect so that we can all have more pleasure and understanding in relationships that are somehow "alternative." "https://www.opentobliss.com" will tell you more on what I teach in Koh Phangan, Thailand, the yoga capital of Asia, and maybe even tantra capital of Asia...
The Tao of Tantric Yoga is written very well, and gives a lot of information. The author and illustrators bring this book to life. There is a lot of information, and some I wasn't aware of. I looked up Tantric to see it's origin, and it relates to principles of Hindu or Buddhism using mantras, meditation and yes, yoga. I haven't read work from this author before but I liked this book. This book intertwines sexuality, love, and spiritualism. According to the author, " Tantric Yoga awakens us to a deeper understanding of our bodies, and how the body is connected to the expression and experience of the emotions, and the magnitude that comes with chakra purification." If you're looking for ways to explore yourself, your true self, this is a good read. It may not fit what some think of yoga, but it has a deeper meaning. The Tao of Tantric Yoga is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more stories by this author.
The Tao of Tantric Yoga is an excellent read for men who would like to understand tantra better and go deeper in their relationships with thier lover and self. I especially liked the personal stories and found myself reflecting on past actions and behaviours that are great signs for change ahead. Thanks xxx
Great overview of a mystical and powerful practice
Satyama gives a personal description of her path and experiences of Tantra yoga. It’s not at all a dry textbook; I could tell that she has lived these practices for a long time and has a passion in sharing them with us. After reading it, I was inspired to return to my yoga practice which I hadn’t followed for around a year. Even though I already knew a good amount of what she teaches, I really enjoyed how she presents it in a direct, easily accessible manner. Highly recommended!
