Having barely survived the latest attack on him, Alex feels adrift at the loss of his twin brother, despite everyone’s attempts to console him. Officials from the Pentagon, the Vatican, and even a representative of the Native American Onondaga tribe descend on the Air Force base to mobilize against an imminent assault on humanity.

Despite losing Andy, Alex has a few fleeting moments of happiness, especially as he finds himself falling for Allison, Mr. Shaw’s spunky daughter. But he knows these moments of “normalcy” will be short-lived because Ms. G and her group need his power to fulfill their evil plans.

When on-base treachery leads to attempted assassination and kidnapping, Alex—along with Roy and Allison—is plunged into a deadly standoff with Ms. G that he knows will result in his death and that of his loved ones. Can he allow them to be tortured, or will he give in to her monstrous demands?

Colonel Walker gathers his troops around the location where Alex is held prisoner - the mountain housing a mysterious “gate” into another dimension. Should Alex be forced to open that gate and release the dark entities within, the human race will come to a swift and violent end.

As the final battle approaches, can Alex hold out long enough for rescue to arrive?

The Healer Chronicles conclude.

Spoiler” is the third and final book in The Healer Chronicles, an epic YA fantasy series by Michael J. Bowler.

Gifted with supernatural powers, twins Alex and Andy have the capacity to control life and death, making them targeted assets by groups who want to use them to progress their own agendas. In this dynamic conclusion, Alex is being held prisoner by Ms. G., head of the Kalandrian cult and his former teacher. Trapped inside a secret mountainside that hosts a gateway to another dimension, Alex is the key to opening that gateway and, though he refuses to cooperate, how long can he hold out when Ms. G threatens to harm everyone dear to him? It’s an epic battle of good versus evil, with the fate of humanity at stake.

“Spoiler” is the perfect way to wrap up an amazing journey with a group of special education kids who grow into their own and then some. It’s a successful combination of coming of age, fantasy, paranormal, horror and sci-fi, and Bowler’s grasp on crafting a riveting fast-paced tale with outstanding character development makes this unpredictable adventure as exciting as it is satisfying.

As with the first two books in the Healer Chronicles, “Spoiler” also contains graphic gore, violence directed toward young characters, and use of profanity throughout, with an ample number of horrifying scenes that will leave readers peeking out from under the covers. Cockroaches anyone? I don’t know about you, but they are strangely more frightening to me than any old demon, and Bowler has vividly fabricated one of the most horrific cockroach battle scenes ever. I’m almost sorry he is so good at his craft because I can’t unsee that event, though I’m sure it will thoroughly satisfy teens aged 16+ who have an appetite for such things.

No “spoilers” in this review, I kept it vague on purpose. Though “Spoiler” can be enjoyed as an exciting standalone story, I strongly urge readers to start the series from the beginning. Trust me, you don’t want to miss a thing! As YA books go, this is by far the most exciting series I’ve read lately. I will say I’m going to miss these characters. Absolutely phenomenal.

Alex's twin brother had tried to kill him, and the memory made Alex shudder every time it crossed his mind. His old wheelchair was completely destroyed when one of Ms. G’s soldiers ravaged the ghost town. In its place, Alex received a brand-new, indestructible wheelchair. What hurt the most was that his identical twin—whom he had only recently been reunited with—had turned on him like a rabid dog.

Despite everything, Alex never let his wheelchair stop him from living life on his own terms. Mr. Shaw is now working with General Lewis to use advanced technology to track down Andy and Ms. G. Alex resents Ms. G for poisoning his brother’s mind and turning him against his own blood. Even though Andy attacked Alex for her sake, Ms. G doesn't truly trust him. She reminds Andy that he belongs to her.

Alex has been told that his compassionate and caring nature is the reason the full powers of the Healer are accessible only to him. While Andy managed to steal some of those powers temporarily, they won’t last. If Andy attempts to open the gate and fails, Alex knows that Ms. G and her followers will come after him next.

Read this book to find out what happens next.

I loved how the story concluded. It's fast-paced and full of twists that keep readers hooked until the final page. The more we learn about Alex, the more we admire him. His compassion and love for others encourage us to become healers in our own lives. Michael has done a fantastic job in this book. Go ahead with this series for sure.

Review: “Spoiler: The Healer Chronicles 3” by Michael Bowler

This is it folks; the thrilling conclusion to The Healer Chronicles.
Is there a future for the twins? If so, what could it possibly be?
And what of Alex's “Family”? They keep dropping like flies in the previous books, who will he lose in this one?
Can they defeat the seemingly immortal and evil Ms G? Or will she become victorious? Can they find a way to kill she who has proven to be unkillable once and for all?

I was on the edge of my seat through the majority of this book, I laughed and I cried.

Be sure to read the first 2 books in the series before reading this one or you will be completely lost, and you do NOT want to be lost as you conclude this magnificent series.

Summary:
As the fight for survival is about to begin, Alex and his friends are determined to stand their ground. Everyone except Alex believe that his brother Andy is now on the other side. Alex is determined to find the truth. Add the army, the Vatican and members form the Native American community, things are about to get explosive.

On the other side, Mrs. G will do anything in her power to open the crack into another realm allowing all the demons in to destroy this world.

All there is to hold them off is the ancient myth of the healer, Alex, who has the potential to save the world. Unfortunately, Andy stole all of Alex’s power or did her. The religious leader band together to use their skills to try and minimize the damage that could occur is they can. The military will do it’s part, but will it be enough?

In the face of annihilation, it takes a hero or heroes to stand strong, but will it be enough?

This was an incredible conclusion to a riveting series and one that is a keeper in my library.

Fresh off a chaotic battle, Colonel Walker and his band of superhuman kids, created through government-sanctioned experiments, realize that the world is in more danger than they thought. There’s a breach in the barrier separating earth from the dimension housing demons, and dark entities are slowly seeping into our world. Even worse, Ms. G, a strange but powerful woman, is bent on opening the gates between both worlds to let demons into ours. Once again, Alex the healer, Colonel Walker, and the group, with help from the Pentagon, the Vatican, and others, must stop Ms. G before she causes untold darkness to overrun the world and end the human race.

Spoiler, by Michael J. Bowler, is the third book in a gripping series that is brimming with adventure and imaginative science fiction elements. It’s a compelling coming of age story of camaraderie, exploring what is means to be human, and the evils that are lurking on the fringes of the world as we know it.

The book sounds a tad spooky, right? It is, but only when it has to be, otherwise it has an adventurous spirit overall. The author finds a great balance between the dark themes and the refreshing fantasy ones. Frankly, reading Spoiler took me back to the description of Netflix’s Stranger Things which once caught my eye: “hair-raising and heartwarming.”

There are no flowery words or complex descriptions. The writing is simple and evocative as Bowler relies on the strength of his plot and characters to keep you spellbound. It’s been a while since I read a book that had me wondering, “how have I read 100 pages already?” Spoiler reels you in with the promise of chaos, drama, and twists and delivers massively.

The author has a fantastic ability to create gripping tension. He expertly teases several possibilities and leaves a few crumbs of evidence here and there, just enough to heighten your suspicion without giving too much away too soon. I think the book moves along at a good pace. Bowler nicely builds up to the inevitable chaos and uses that buildup to connect readers with the characters before everything devolves into chaos.

Spoiler is a real page-turner and an occasional tear-jerker. If you’re looking for an exciting young adult urban fantasy story with imaginative paranormal elements then you’ll heartily enjoy The Healer Chronicles series.

It had been three days since Alex's twin brother, Andy, attempted to kill him—yet Alex still struggled to believe it. The authorities were hunting Andy, determined to find and eliminate him. In the ghost town, Alex’s wheelchair was destroyed, but later he was gifted a new one—nearly indestructible.

Andy had come a long way from his childhood. He had gained a deeper understanding of his powers. His teacher reminded him that while he was powerful, she was eternal—and he should never dare to outsmart her.

Andy had managed to steal some of Alex’s healing powers. However, Alex possessed them permanently, and no one could truly take them away. Still, Ms. G and her followers could attack Alex at any moment, and he had to remain cautious on his journey.

The title of the book is brilliantly chosen, and the cover is visually striking. The story moves at a fast pace. Though Alex and Andy are twins, their personalities are starkly different. From the very beginning, Alex’s character stands out and leaves an impression. This book is truly a great choice.
