This special collector’s edition collects books three and four in the Hilda graphic novel series, Hilda and the Bird Parade & Hilda and the Black Hound, which inspired the award-winning Hilda animated series on Netflix.
Leaving their home in the wilderness, Hilda, Twig and her mother have moved to the big bustling city of Trolberg. Hilda must find a way to fit into this new and very different way of life by building new friendships with humans - and creatures. Soon, she discovers the city is just as mysterious and filled with adventures as the wilderness. There is no shortage of unexpected twists, turns and new friends in this bind-up edition. A perfect gift for Hilda fans and any young adventurer in your life!
Luke Pearson is a British illustrator, cartoonist, and comic book writer best known for the Hilda series of comics for Nobrow Press, and Hilda, the Netflix series based on the comics. He has also storyboarded episodes of the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time, during its fifth and seventh seasons.
This gorgeous new hardback edition contains the third and fourth stories of the Hilda saga, 'Hilda & the Bird Parade' and 'Hilda & the Black Hound'.
I absolutely loved the previous release, 'Hilda: The Wilderness Stories', so I had high hopes for this second collection, and I'm happy to report that it doesn't disappoint!
The art continues to be this charming and whimsical cartoon style that both kids and adults are sure to appreciate, with lots of fantastical characters to love.
Of the two stories I think the Black Hound was my favourite, as I thought the character of Tontu and the house spirits were very Ghibli-esque, which is right up my street!
I really hope Luke Pearson and Flying Eye continue to put out these collections, because they're absolutely beautiful books, and they contain stories that I know I will be reading with my kids one day soon.
Thank you to Flying Eye Books and Bounce Marketing for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Such a refreshing, funny, and beautifully illustrated collection. Hilda is inquisitive, strong-willed, determined, and kind. A perfect main character. The world is so inventive. I loved the blending of contemporary settings with fantastical moments and characters. I want more!
Loved volumes 3 and 4 from the Hilda series. These were great little adventures for Hilda in the town of Trolberg. Also, Luke’s illustration style just keeps getting better as the series goes on. I love this world and I hope that we get more of it in the future, after volumes 5 and 6.
These books are incredible, I love Hilda so much! It feels like an instant Classic, something new and fun that seems to have existed forever. Don’t hesitate to check these books out and share them with the young ones in your life.
Hilda is one of my favorite shows, so finally reading the original graphic novels feels extra special. The artwork and witty character dialogue make it even better
