After the cataclysmic EMP attack, the nation grows darker and more dangerous…
Cass’s sickness is fast deteriorating, and with the temperatures plummeting she’ll only get worse. Exhausted and hungry, Isaac must continue the dangerous journey; his sick companion in his arms, and Daisy at his side. With each painful step he must continue the dangerous trek. If he doesn’t make it, Cass will die.

EMP Post-apocalypse Pacific Northwest OTT bad guy Cliffhanger ending Non-romance
“I wish more people learned survival skills or useful skills for situations like this,” Cass said as they walked south again.
Book 3 takes us back to the couple from book one, Cass and Isaac. They are still slowly making their way to Southern Oregon from Portland. Cass is not feeling well, they meet some new friends, and an old enemy.
Isaac looked away. Tears beaded his lashes, and he blinked them away. He’d seen more death in the last few days than all his time overseas.
The characters are growing in depth, and the writing is getting better with each book.
We’re back where Cass’ story ended in the first book, where she’d fallen ill, this book showcases how bad she actually is, no hospital in sight, no cell service to call for help, no medication on hand, and nowhere to seek shelter out of the elements for her to get over the illness which had plagued her.
And still that lone figure is following in their footsteps.
Yet another quick read, just over 400 pages in length, so easy to get into hard to put down. I'm going through this series fast..
Cass and Issac are still trying to make their way to Cass’s grandmother’s where her little sister Charlie is waiting for her. Cass has become very ill. Her fever is skyrocketing. Cass is so sick that Issac is having to carry her and it is freezing out.
If Issac can’t find the medicine she needs and quickly Cass may die. They finally make their way to a safe place to hold up for a while. Issac has to leave Cass alone for a while so he can go in search of medicine. He leaves the little dog Daisy behind with her. I actually don’t think he had a choice in the matter as the little fur baby has taken up with Cass and has every intention of keeping her safe.
Daisy gets her chance when Cass’s ex-boyfriend who has been following them finds her and tries to take her with him. Cass manages to gather the strength to hold him off long enough for Issac to show up on the scene. I am afraid that this may not be the last time they see old Nathan.
Will Cass be ok? Is this the last time Nathan makes an appearance? Will Cass and Issac ever reach their destination?
Cass and Issac’s trek is a long and perilous one. Grip of Terror like its predecessors pulled me in from the moment I picked it up. Once I did pick it up I could not have laid it down for anything. I had to keep reading as I waited to see where Cass and Issac’s journey was going.
Grip of Terror is a very intense and mesmerizing story with lots of twists and turns that keep the pages turning. Grip of Terror will have you in its clutches from beginning to end with not a dull moment in between. There is action right up until the end. I love this world as it gets better and better with each turn of the page. I can’t wait to read more from this world to see where Cass, Issac, and Charlie’s stories take us next.

Cass and Issac are still working their way back to their grandmothers and their hometowns. It's not easy, and with a unannounced guest that keeps showing up (crazy dude indeed), it at times is even harder. The ice and snow won't be giving up anytime soon it seems, and the duo know this isn't a random thing that's just going to fix itself anytime soon.
We meet a few small characters along the way that had the human aspect and it's nice to see them interacting with others for more than a few seconds. One part was sweet and made me feel that Sam J Fires is a wonderful human along with author (thank you).
I am deeply looking forward to book 4, Grip of Death coming soon.... I hope.
I definitely have wanted to keep listening to this story. The ex is creepy for sure and the romance is blooming with Cass and the military guy. Waiting for a sister reunion but now there are roadblocks…
I got through the first book and it was good. The second book threw me through a loop and I wasn't that interested in it. I hate how it went from the original characters to new ones. The 3rd book went back to the original and it was going good. Then Cass refuses to let Nathan be killed. So I thought I'll go to the next book and guess what it's back to different people. I hate series like this and will not be finishing the series even though I'd like to know Cass and Issacs out come.
There is also way to much of was this an emp... will the power come back. I love post apocalyptic books but this was not my cup of tea

The author is writing Cass to be simultaneously arrogant about her skills and in absolute need of help, but still wants to present Cass as this Special Girl who has this unconventional upbringing that should prepare her for an end of the world type situation. It’s bizarre.
These are short stories so they go fast. So far not every book has the same characters. This book had Cass, Isaac and Daisy who started this series, and are my favorite characters of the series so far. I'll move forward with the other books and characters as I'm pretty sure they will all come together later. Isaac and Cass are strangers who have issues, but they team up together to trudge through freezing temps, snow, and ice to make it back to a small town where their families are stranded. Each have a grandmother there who they want to check on since all the world stopped working and people have gone a little crazy. They team up to try to make it through, but will their team make it in one piece?
Finally, this one gets back to Cass & Isaac, after book 2 was busy covering other people. I was excited for this, even though … well, I won’t spoil, I’ll just say things are getting dark. :)
By the end I was still just as hooked as I was from book 0.5, and in need of the next one. 4 stars.
Audio: The audio is good, and overall sound quality is professional.
Note: This series isn’t exactly easy to read in order, when the books are numbered differently depending on where you look at them. A little confusing on that front, I had to really work for it. Normally this will put me off, but this series was good enough for me to put in the effort.
We are now back on the road with Cassie and Issac, with Nathan, her ex following them.
Cassie is sick and they have to take shelter in an abandoned house where Issac takes care of her the he can best. Then, the homeowners return.
It was everything I expected to read, and more, I loved it! What I didn’t like was Nathan. He is psychotic and unpredictable. He is also possessive about Cass and I really didn’t like him.
It’s a great read as Cassie’s relationship with Issac develops. They have to endure hardships and hurdles, made worse by the irritating Nathan.
I’m eager for them to get to their destination and of course to find out what happens next.
Grip of Terror is book three of unmatched stalking and fear as Nathanrefuses to give up Cass. His character is good looking but monstrous. And so well written, he makes my blood run cold. With maybe a bit of the weather. Cass and Isaac are the good guys but they aren't perfect. Both have flaws that are understandable and, perhaps, acceptable. There are many examples of loss of life as Cass and Isaac travel on foot through snow and ice. For this book I would give 10 stars if I could. It's simply that good!
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Cass and Isaac come to new problems and hard solutions. They are now getting to be a couple in as much as they are almost finishing each others sentences and are willing to fight for each other. Sam J. Fires series only gets better and better with each segment of this grand and earthy manuscript. He has created real people who you can feel for and envision on their trek. Start from the beginning and realize the greatness of this story.
Grip of Terror: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 3), my fourth read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read, 135-pages in length. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book back in April and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Next up Grip of Death : A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 4). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Cass, Issac and Daisy endear me to them each time. So much has happened in a week and her recovery after gastrointestinal was pretty quick, as an ex nurse and someone whose had that, that was unrealistic - especially given just how on drags door she was. That’s my only gripe - aside from that I loved it! And Nathan is a man possessed! Far out, dude needs to chill. I’m off to find the next book in the series.
I was thrilled to return to Cass and Isaac’s story in Grip of Terror. Their bond deepens as they face harsh conditions and growing danger, becoming more protective and trusting with each step. Both are flawed in ways that feel real and relatable. The journey is brutal, marked by loss and survival, but their connection keeps you invested. I can’t wait to see how their relationship and story unfold.
The journey of Cass and Isaac continues, but not without being tested to the limit, while Nathan continues to stalk Cass with an uhealthy obsession. It is taking much longer to reach their destination due to so many difficult obstacles to overcome, but their determination and survival skills are slowly getting them to where they want to be. Can't wait to find out what happens next.
This book was very enjoyable to read. It has great, realistic characters with all their faults and how they interact. It is well written and keeps you wanting to read the next page. Great continuation of the series... In the midst of trying to survive and get to their destination, Nathan the Psychopath hunt is making things even more difficult for Cass and Isaac.
Cass is gravely ill and Isaac is desperately trying to find some safe shelter for her to recover. They are still being stalked by Nathan who is determined to win Cass back. The dead bodies are piling up and the snow is still coming down making the going treacherous. Can they reach their destination before Nathan reaches them?
Good continuation of the series as the psychopathic nature of Nathan becomes more apparent. Cass comes to realise that she and Isaac have more in common than they both initially thought. Isaac also shows his underlying caring attitude. People show both desperation and aggression and until they meet others it is unclear which it will be. Loving the realism of this episode.
I am enjoying this series. The story moves quickly and the characters are like able. Cass and Isaac are still on the road to Cass’ grandmother’s. They encounter some problems along the way. There is a little violence, but no foul language. I look forward to reading the next book.
A really brilliant third part to this new & exciting EMP, end of the world series! A really good story, I liked the characters development & how the plot progressed. Good stuff! I can't wait for the next adventure by Sam J Fires! I do recommend!
Omg!! Very exciting!!! I’m so frustrated with some of these characters!! I feel like they should realize that it was an EMP at this point! Especially Cass! Her parents probably mentioned an EMP before!
Another outstanding story. The characters once again experience hardships and danger. Trying to get anywhere to safety is almost impossible. I was completely caught up in the their journey.
This is book 3 in this epic tale, this time continuing on with Cass, Isaac and Daisy the dog. Again, well told and captivating. Can't wait for the next installment.
