Mia Stevens was one of the best tennis players in the world, and at only 20 years of age, she was one of the highest paid atheletes in the world, voted as the world's sexiest woman by People's magazine, and won two grand slams, but her reign at the top takes a tumble when she loses her mother and coach, the great Lily Stevens, herself a 10 time grand slam winner, in a car crash. After that, Mia Stevens enters one of the worst times of her life, losing matches, and brand deals, and slipping into depression without the hope of ever coming out of it. Her only respite? Meaningless sex with her girl-friend Alexa, daughter of a Utah Senetor.
Olivia Stone was Lily Stevens' former doubles partner, and together, they were one of the greatest doubles pair in the world, winning grand slams and Olympic medals. A falling apart 15 years ago which left Olivia's heart shattered, made her vow never to speak to Lily again, retire from tennis, and open a little restaurant on a beach in an isolated beachtown. But when Mia, Lily's daughter, and Olivia's obsession, gets banned for taking drugs during Wimbledon, she decides to intervene.
A meeting between the two leaves both inexplicably drawn to each other, but an age gap of 21 years, and the fact that Olivia was Mia's mother's doubles partner, and more than just a friend, leaves both questioning their principles.
In a little beach town called Sea Bright, Olivia and Mia battle their feelings, while desire, love and lust grip their hearts, and make it hard to keep their hands away from each other!
I am your friendly neighborhood Sapphic romance writer, who has a knack for writing steamy romances, that also work as comfort reads. I know, a conundrum! But once you give my books a shot, you'll know what I mean! I live in London, a few streets away from where Sherlock Holmes used to live, so... if I you find me taking too long to publish my next book, I am probably off with Mr. Holmes on an adventure.
I'm just going to mention Mia's immaturity and the difference between Olivia's mindset, the objectification of Mia over Olivia (and women in general), her best friend that seemed to be inappropriate just because, and Alexa's POV which made me stop reading. Also, the whole "I know you fucked her" to being turned into "Oh my god, I'm sorry, I love you, please forgive me for saying your mother had the guts that you don't have to tell me she didn't love me", was something else. Big red flag when someone jumps to conclusions so quickly, and then asks for forgiveness after being a bitch and says "I love you" through a bathroom door because she's afraid to lose you.
This writer who has another pen name are night and day. This book had a great age gap story with a lot of sexual innuendos. However the story itself was entertaining with a little mystery and deceit. I was enjoying it up to the end. Now I have to wait for the next book to get to the hopefully HEA. Good Job!
This author’s book covers never match the characters! I found it entertaining despite the typos and inconsistencies. Olivia’s 15 year throw back threw me off. Mia is 20. 15 years prior she would have been 5. Lily just met Mia’s dad? It made no sense. A lot of cheesy lines. As to be expected when reading this author’s books.
I genuinely have mixed feelings about this. It’s a ⭐️⭐️1/2 book.
What I loved: There’s so much sexual tension between the characters and you can really feel that as you read. I truly believe Mia and Olivia are in love. The sex scenes are hot. These things alone are enough for me to make up my rating. Sadly, nothing else helped.
What I didn’t love: Olivia’s resolve sheds so quickly. She says she’s conflicted then just gives in to what Mia wants practically for the rest of the book. But we can blame that on lust. I spent a lot of time wondering when and in what way the tennis girl at the party would be introduced. It ended up falling short for me. Also, the ending??? I don’t personally love a cliffhanger. Finally, as someone who is iffy about (fictional) age gap relationships, I personally cannot recommend this to anyone who also struggles.
Final takes: This needed some heavy editing but it’s a great book for horny people. Basically porn without (well-adapted) plot
I enjoyed this age-gap story about Mia and Olivia set in the tennis world. Despite all of life’s obstacles, they try to keep their love alive. Unfortunately, I would get taken out of the story by some editing mistakes. Also, I was confused about the timeline concerning when Olivia and her doubles partner/ bestie Lily, who is also Mia’s mother, ended their relationship. It ended 15 years before Olivia decided to finally meet Mia to try and help her with her tennis career. Mia is said to be 20 years old, so you’d think she was 5 years old when Olivia ends her and Lily’s friendship. But the story behind the friends parting ways seems to allude that it ends because of Lily dating and eventually marrying the man who will be Mia’s father. Maybe I’m missing something and, if so, I apologize. This book is still a good read.
I liked the premise of this book. Tennis star scandal, twice over. The leading ladies were flawed and relatable but the age-gap held no allure.
They are 21 years apart but are both caught in their teen years. Not saying every 40 year old has their life together, but the excitement from an age-gap fiction is the reverence for the older woman bc they offer some stability or wisdom not held by the younger generation. This book missed the mark as actions and verbiage were more reflective of characters in their late teens or early 20s. The love and lovemaking scenes were also reflective of that-- just not my cup of tea nor shot of whiskey, I guess.
Let's start with that this could've easily been one book. I really don't like to not like books but idk, ig this one just wasn't the one for me but I do think a lot of people will enjoy this! Some conversations just made me feel kinda awkward but I could've known that beforehand. Also, this could've been written in more details AND the reasons they got mad at each other for just made me so confused?? I just-
i thought this might be weird as a lesbian with a dead mom but the slow burn had me kicking my feet, the smut had me blushing, the story had my jaw dropped more than once, and i was PISSED when it was a cliffhanger. i’m so excited to keep going this is a great smutty series with a great storyline to get invested in to. Plus a weird dynamic i neverrrrr expected to read about. 4.5 rounded up to 5
Loved this book and am about to start the next one. The author has a way of building up a plot until you’ve just hanging on and then letting things rip. Then they do it all over again. But hey, you just have to love a good romance that seems to work despite all the reasons it shouldn’t!
Wow fantastic storyline I loved the main characters chemistry it was hot passionate understanding loving everything you want in a book i couldn't put it down can't wait to read the next part of this book congratulations
Again, another great storyline line. Minor typos that if your weren’t paying attention you would get slightly confused on who was talking about what but good enough base line that makes you keep reading on what happens next.
Honestly, the whole thing made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The plot was terrible and the chemistry was terrible. I finished it only because I hate leaving things incomplete!!
I love everything by this author. It's laugh out loud funny, heartfelt, and relatable. The characters are amazing. Can't wait to read all of her books.
