while i am able to process codependency recovery easier through reading numerous texts about it (such as this one) and starting to go to support group for it (which uses this handbook during the meeting), the one thing that peeves me off in general is how god/higher power focused codependency recovery is lol. in most cases it feels more christian than anything purely spiritual. it’s not a huge deal or majorly alienating but mostly jarring— im pagan so i do have deities/higher powers to turn to but regardless.

with any self-help book, my general philosophy is that it’s a matter of taking what i want/need from these books as opposed to treating everything as truth yknow
