The premise of Mail-Order Surprise intrigued me, and there was much in the story that I enjoyed. Like a number of other reviewers, I wish the story were developed more. However, I do have a caveat. While the romance is "sweet & clean", the language is not. There were quite a few swear words--way more than I ever remember encountering in a sweet romance story, even full length novels. In addition to an "f-bomb", there were numerous other instances when what I would consider swear words were used. If this is something you are uncomfortable with, you may not want to read this book.

Bennet and Amelia's Story . . .

Amelia Saint-Pierre reads the letter that tells her that she is facing a lawsuit due to her student loans she has been unable to pay. She has sent out hundreds of applications for various jobs to get her out of her predicament. So being desperate and with the urging of a friend in the matchmaking business, she agrees to a marriage of convenience to a British man with 4 children who has lost his wife to cancer. Bennet Blake is finally ready to admit he needs help with the children, and they need a mother-figure in their lives. The caregivers who keep calling in sick end up hurting his business when the children have to be with him and he can’t take care of his business.

From their first meeting, Bennet and Amelia feel an attraction, even though they had agreed to no feelings, just a simple arrangement. He would be paying off her student loan in return for her marrying him, purely platonic. Her only duties would be to cook, clean, and take care of the children. The ceremony is held at the registrar’s home due to the late hour. The next morning, Bennet hears noise downstairs and grabs his rifle. How could he have forgotten his new wife was here? Apologizing profusely, she finally gives him a little smile. The children will be returning home later, as they are at a sleepover with a friend right now. Is Amelia ready for this life? Is Bennet able to keep the feelings under control? This may be more difficult than they had expected!

The story is adorable. Bennet’s children are so sweet. Grab your copy and see how their family adjusts with their new circumstances. Can this really be a HEA after all?

Amelia is stuck, not knowing what to do when she is sued after being unable to pay back her student loans. A friend makes a suggestion and before long she is off to far away lands to become a wife, in name only, while caring for four young children who have lost their mom to illness. From the moment they meet, Bennet and Amelia feel a spark of connection. I enjoyed this book and the story was great! My only wish is that it had been longer so that we could watch as these characters developed over time. That being said, I definitely plan to read more by this author soon...

This is an adorably sweet story of a man needing a mother for his children finally admitting that he needs someone else to help him find her and going to a mail-order bride company. Amelia meanwhile is drowning in student loans and can't find a job beyond waitressing and babysitting. So she gives into her friend to help her find a partner for her. Within a fortnight the two are married and living in the English countryside. It's strictly platonic but that only lasts for so long before they give into their natural attraction to each other and get married for real this time.

Amelia is drowning in student loans and is not seeing a way out. Bennet is a widower with four kids and needs someone to help.

This is a sweet story as Amelia offers to travel to become a Bennet's bride, Bennet is mainly looking for someone to step in as the kid's mother. He never expected to find love again, and Amelia found the family she wanted.

Great fast story that you will not want to put down.

I loved everything about this story except for the length, I wish it had been longer. I loved this story line. A modern arranged marriage of convenience works very well in this story. I enjoyed the characters. Sophie wrote fun characters. I think that she wrote her children's dialogue very well.

Amelia needs a way to get out of college debt and Bennet needs someone long term to care for his four young children. The children were sweet so I couldn’t understand why they kept losing nannies. It takes time and a scare for them to realize they want more than just a marriage of convenience. It was a sweet clean story except for a swear word.

Easy read

Good easy read. I almost put it down due to some light language. If you don't mind light language, you will enjoy this book. It is a great story on true love.

I have a long list of pending books waiting for me, but I found Mail-Order Surprise and immediately jumped to read it. It promised to be a very short, very lovely romance, and it was the exact story I needed.
Amelia and Bennet are a sweet couple, and in just a handful of pages, the author gives us a glimpse into their lives and personalities.
I dived into this book completely aware it was going to be a quick, uncomplicated read, and I'm satisfied. If I allow myself to criticize one thing, is that this story deserves more pages. Amelia and Bennet's relationship, the children, and the beautiful scenery. I'd love to read more about everything.
