I was forced into a life I didn't choose. He's falling for the thing he hates the most.
When my husband of twenty-five years leaves me to expedite his political agenda, and his new girlfriend ensures I have no place within the shadow council, I am starting over with a new business and no financial security.
With my occult shop starting to turn a profit and new friendships blooming, I don’t plan to let anybody stand in the way of my future, but when a member of the Council falls ill, they turn to the witch they so callously cast aside. Me.
If I help my ex, I am solidifying his seat of power, but if I don't, innocent people will die and the ancient power unleashed will destroy more than our mystical town.
I’ve never read a book with a heroine who gets sliced up so often! I applaud the fact that she’s not all-powerful right from the start, but wow, so much slicing, lol.
The first half of the book was very enjoyable; I was engaged, liked the characters and the storyline despite some minor editing flaws. After about the 60 percent mark, however, I began to feel like someone else was writing. I was taken out of the story by wrong words being used (conscious instead of conscience, flamed instead of inflamed) and awkwardly worded sentences.
One scene in particular made my head hurt from all the eye rolling I was doing. Here’s the author’s description of how Eve felt after an attack, “I felt like death warmed over. I hadn’t experienced anything this bad my life. My entire body didn’t hurt. It thrummed in excruciating torture.” So with this description of the h’s pain level, her main concern in the morning is opening her store. Keep in mind she hasn’t been healed and has been getting steadily worse. Really? (Ow, I just rolled my eyes again.) Then, also before she’s been healed, she begins to get hot and bothered by watching the H. That kind of pain would have me screaming, cussing and ripping body parts off anyone getting too close to me but she gets amorous?! Through that whole scene I kept thinking, “How? What happened to her pain? How can she even move, much less think?”
After that scene I noticed the writing still wasn’t quite up to par. It was good enough that I’ll read the next book, but the difference in writing skill was noticeable to me and lowered my rating.
Eve is finally opening her magic store after getting divorced from her husband. After decades of his condescension and abuse, she is starting to feel like herself again. Then she discovers an unknown evil attacking the Shrouded Nation and gets deeply embroiled in fighting it. Eve finds new allies and friends while continuing to deal with her controlling ex and just maybe finding a new love interest.

This is book one of the Shrouded Nation series and the main character is Eve, a witch, who has just managed to open up her own magic shop with the help of her friend Ayesha, the fae leader and also her mentor in magic. Since she was divorced from her controlling and cheating husband Caton, the head warlock, and father of her daughter Mina, she has found her magic is more powerful and she is managing to do magic others can’t, such as mixing fae and witch magic. Caton isn’t happy to have her owning and running her own shop and tries to demean her even before she opens. The new girlfriend he moved into their house is Lucinda, who is the age of their daughter, but also the head witch, alongside him on the Shadow Council, where representatives of all the paranormals sit as part of the whole Shrouded Nation. There has been a spate of murders in the Ravenholde and in the mundane areas around it, which seem like vampire attacks. The Council don’t seem all that interested in investigating this issue and it soon turns out like it could be shifter vampire hybrids, which are unheard of! Nobody even believes this news either.
A new hunter, Nishi, turns up with fellow hunter Nathan and becomes Eve’s new friend and ally, after coming to Eve for help after Nathan was injured by one of these hybrid creatures. Eve soon realises there is some strange and powerful magic behind these and other hybrid creatures that are soon attacking and targeting powerful members of the paranormal community, Eve included. A wolf shifter called Kat, who used to be Eve’s friend back in her school days, until she was told witches and shifters were not to be friends, comes for her help with her gran Sadie, who is dying and who the pack healer can’t help. Unfortunately, due to events linked to the previous alpha and a witch who experimented on the shifters, witches are not welcome anywhere on the pack lands, and Eve finds herself in trouble that could be deadly. She ends up meeting the wolf alpha, Hunter, in not the best of circumstances, but somehow a spark of attraction is ignited between them! Soon Eve finds herself brought to an emergency meeting of the Shadow Council by Nishi and Hunter, much to the dislike of Caton and Lucinda, to try and convince the rest of the council about these dangerous hybrids, including hybrid shifters, vampires and demons, but they still don’t wish to listen and Caton wants her kicked out.
Thankfully, they spot that one of the council members is already infected by whatever these hybrids are managing to pass about, and she is the only one with a potion that can work on them. Not that she really wants to do anything to help the council, especially with Caton and Lucinda pretty much in charge. Lucinda was the one who cast Eve out of their coven, hoping it would kill her, so she would have Caton all for herself! From their reactions at the meeting and Lucinda’s rant to Caton, it seems Caton has been stealing her magic from her throughout their marriage! Another good reason to be glad she was out on her own now and doing her own thing, without her ex there to put her down constantly. Eve and Nishi have an action packed time finding loads of these dangerous creatures at every turn, but also deciding to follow some to try and find out who is behind all of this! It leads them to the ‘master’ behind it all, a powerful being of ancient origin and one that will create chaos across the world if allowed to continue. How they will manage to defeat such a foe is uncertain, especially if they can’t get the other paranormal factions to work together. A great start to the series and I can’t wait to read what comes next. Some great characters to like and others to hate, plus a touch of romance and a woman finally finding her own independence after a couple of decades and doing what she is good at, which is helping others. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

In Prime of My Magical Life, Tia Didmon masterfully weaves a tale of empowerment, resilience, and magical intrigue that resonated deeply with me. The story centers on a woman navigating the turbulent waters of her life after her husband leaves her for a political agenda, thrusting her into a world filled with betrayal and uncertainty. As someone who appreciates stories of strong female protagonists reclaiming their power, I found the journey of our heroine incredibly inspiring.
The premise of an occult shop blossoming amidst personal turmoil is both relatable and intriguing. Didmon's vivid descriptions of the mystical town of Ravenholde and its hidden secrets made me feel like I was right there, discovering the magic alongside the protagonist. The characters are beautifully crafted; I enjoyed the depth of emotions and the complexities of their relationships. The tension between the protagonist and the Council adds a layer of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering how she would navigate the treacherous waters of her past and her ex-husband's ambitions.
Didmon's writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making the story feel both immersive and fast-paced. The exploration of themes such as betrayal, friendship, and personal growth made this book resonate with me, especially in the context of reclaiming one’s identity and strength after hardship. I found myself rooting for the protagonist as she confronts her past and steps into her power.
If you enjoy paranormal women's fiction with strong, relatable characters, Prime of My Magical Life is a must-read. It’s a perfect blend of magic, mystery, and personal transformation that left me eager for more. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds in future installments!.

Prime of my Magical Life is the first book in the Shrouded Nation series. It is a paranormal romance featuring a witch named Eve. Eve is recently divorced from her cheating, controlling, narcissistic, useless ex, Caton. While relieved to finally be separated from him, she also feels embarrassed to have allowed him to mistreat her for so long. Eve is finding herself again after 20+ years of marriage but feels like an outcast without any friends. She has just opened The Blue Moon, a metaphysical shop serving both paranormals and mundanes. She is also stepping into her power, preparing tinctures and potions to help others, getting stronger and learning to believe in herself. It is a beautiful thing.
Eve wants to break down the barriers that keep paranormals separate. She wants to unite them. She ends up reconnecting with Kat, a shifter school friend, and befriending Nishi, a mundane who was blessed by a goddess. These two lead Eve to understand that there is something amiss in Ravenolde and since the esteemed Shadow Council doesn't seem inclined to even acknowledge the situation, she is determined to step up.
This book is a fantasy-lovers dream. In addition to witches and shifters, there are demons and vampires and all manner of paranormal beasts. There is action and adventure and an illicit lust-interest. Our heroine repeatedly finds herself in life-threatening situations but never gives up.
I had a lot of fun reading this book, and was very disappointed when I reached the cliffhanger ending. I'm keen to delve into the second book to continue the adventure and see what happens next.

The captivating story of midlife magic, personal development, and otherworldly intrigue found in "The Prime of my Magical Life" by Tia Didmon and Brenda Trim. The narrative follows a rejected witch who is shunned by the shadow council, abandoned by her spouse, and attempts to reconstruct her life in order to realize her full potential. Action, comedy, and emotion are expertly balanced by the writers to create a thrilling and realistic experience. The main character must make a difficult decision as she makes her way through her new life: support her ex-husband and increase his authority, or jeopardize the lives of innocent people and Ravenholde's ruin. This novel will have you turning pages because of its unique universe and captivating cast of characters. This book is ideal for you if you like paranormal adventures with a strong heroine, magical creatures, and a smidge of romance! A 3 star review may be a little harsh but I just finished a book in the New Immortals series so this one fell short by comparison. There was a of necessary but kind dull world building.
The focus of this book, besides the aforementioned world building, was Eve learning to be her own woman. It is always nice to see someone from a verbally abusive relationship get a chance to stand on their own two feet. I hate abusers so hope we see Caton and Lucinda really get their comeuppance in books to come.
What struck a cord for me is the perhaps unintentional parallels to real life. The individual species of the Shrouded Nation hate or distrust each other with few exceptions. However, the nation needs to learn to come together to fight the big battles. Sounds like real life. Maybe there is even a lesson in there for all of us.
As I final thought, I would probably read other books in this series. However, the New Immortals is a better book for Tia Didmon. I guess it depends on your taste and what you are looking for.

Eve, a forty-two year old witch, recently divorced after twenty years of marriage takes readers on a journey of self discovery as she navigates the world of singles and self empowerment. Eve had been beat down mentally for far too long and now was her time to shine as she opens her very own magic shop with the help of her Fae friend Ayesha. War is brewing in the Shrouded Nation, illnesses that shouldn’t exist in the paranormal world, widespread death tolls. Will Eve be able to solve the mystery behind these unexplained occurrences?
The characters were well developed and some were very funny, my favorite being Nishi the newly found best friend. Nishi May be a mundane chosen by a goddess to carry out her wishes but this heroine is anything but boring. The story is fast paced with a bit of insta-lust, enemies to lovers romance. This book will leave readers scowling at the bad guys and cheering for the hero’s as the book ends on a big cliffhanger! Cannot wait to read the next book I’ll be recommending this series to friends for sure.

Her husband left her to pursue his own ambitions, but now he needs her help. She would rather have nothing to do with him at this point, but ignoring his plea will hurt others and that is something she cannot accept. Tough choices ahead.
This is book one of the series, so a fine place to start.
This is a paranormal romance story with witches, vampires, shifters and the whole lot. The story is well written and easy to read with a plot that nonetheless has a lot going on. The setting is well developed and quite intriguing, so I am definitely looking forward to exploring it in future books. The characters are equally well done. I definitely like our heroine which is a good thing as she is the focus of our story. But she has an excellent cast, both good and bad, to go with her. Add in a plot with a nice bit of mystery to it and, of course, plenty of magic. Overall, this was a fun start to a series and I look forward to seeing what comes next.
Highly recommended.

This sounds like it is going to be a really good series. It has a middle-aged witch who is coming into her own now that she is divorced from her warlock husband. Unfortunately, he has done a number on her self-esteem and was also draining her magic. She has opened a shop to sell items needed by magic users, along with potions and such that she makes herself. She always considered her magic to be weak, but she has been getting steadily stronger now that she is rid of her ex. She makes friends with a woman sent by Artemis to try to stop a war that is coming to the magical world. There are strange things happening to demons, shifters, vampires, and witches. I won't spoil the story for you, but there is an alpha wolf interested in her, only he hates witches. I am rooting for them, but it doesn't look good. One warning - cliffhanger ending.

The goals of the Council for Paranormals are allegedly to help govern and legislate.
A mysterious illness has begun, something that the Council has thus far overlooked
are several deaths, infections and attacks coincidences, or are darker things in play?
a gifted healer left with little resources after her divorce begins to make connections and possible treatments and responses
is it too late? will she have enough visibility to be seen, and impact to be heard?
her heart, her reputation and her livelihood are likely to take a beating
Can she find and hold onto enough allies to help battle the dark forces, perhaps to survive and maybe some day thrive? if complex challenges can be managed and survived - maybe- likely many bruises of heart, body and soul lie ahead
intense paranormal action, drama and midlife empowerment.

This is an amazing start to this series. Eve is finding herself after her marriage failed to Caton. Opening a magic store has always been her dream. Trying to make a name for herself by helping people with her craft. Bad things start happening. This is the first book of the Shrouded Nation series. This is part of a series so you will have to read the books in series order. Cliffhanger warning! But that's what keeps us coming back for more. I highly recommend this read. I couldn't put it down. Tia and Brenda sure know how to capture your attention. The characters are absolutely amazing. I can't wait to see how this storyline progresses. Easy to read and to follow along, this is a must read if you love a good paranormal story.

Sometimes a book is just not a good fit for someone, and that was the case for me here.
The book starts with a mean and very negative fight and I think that set the tone for me. That start lacked excitement for me, and the worldbuilding wasn’t quite enough for me to really understand, especially at the start. But I persisted, hoping it would get more interesting. But somehow this story never sparked that interest for me. I guess I just wasn’t feeling it. Not every book is a match for every reader, and I’m sad to say this wasn’t a match for me. The tone not quite positive enough, maybe. The cliffy didn’t really help matters. I am sorry to have to give a rating that’s not all that good, because I know authors put a lot of effort into writing their books, but I have to be honest.
Eve is divorced yet her ex-husband Caton pursues his own path while still trying to control and belittle her. Not letting him win, she scraped enough together to start her own occult shop business and was finally doing well. But a council member’s illness forces them to call Eve back to help figure it out. She doesn’t want her involvement to benefit her ex, but she won’t turn her back on innocent people if there is something she can do for them. Strange illnesses are occurring and contain a magical signature and no apparent cure – until Alpha Hunter and Eve’s friend Kat bring her in to save Sadie, a very valuable member of the pack. Can she find out what is turning people into vampire-shifter hybrids? Does she have the power to stop it?
This is the first book in a PWF urban fantasy. The heroine is newly divorced witch. She has an adult daughter who just started college. Her ex thus and is a warlock piece of cr*p. This poor woman has been mentally abused for 20 years and is just now finding her freedom and self worth. But it is not easy, it seems almost everyone wants her to fail. Worse, something is threatening the paranormal community, and she seems to be the only one trying to fight it. Until she makes a friend who is also having a hard time fitting into her new role. This book had a good storyline, plenty of angst and suspense, emerging friendship, and maybe the making of a new heroine. The book ended on a cliff! Thankfully, I had the next book and could start it immediately.
A divorcee coming into her own, starting a successful business and making friends. Top it off with some magic and supernatural powers. It has the bones for a good book. But, who would really have sex if they were covered in blood, cut and bitten with the possibility of being infected with a deadly virus. Towards the end the book becomes chaotic with too much being thrown around. The witch and her friend both have been attacked not once but twice and they still decide to follow the second set of attackers! A good book suspends belief, until it just throws out so much only a super hero can handle it. I really like these authors separately, but they need to mesh a little b
After being married for 20 years and now divorced for a year, Eve is moving on and starting her store where she can help others. Her ex's girlfriend wants to make sure that Eve cannot get on the counsel but because of the demon mutation issue that is happening the counsel and others are seeing she is more powerful than the witch on the board. She is finding out that her Ex was taking her power, that is why she was never strong with magic while he was around, but now she is seeing so much and the alpha werewolf is also seeing it. This is a great beginning of the Shrouded Nation series. It has humor sexy, vampires, magic, werewolf, ex's, and karma.

I don't usually give books bad reviews, but the audible version of this book was questionable as far as the speed of narration. It seemed like the narrator was rushing in speaking. I checked the speed. I tried slowing it down but then it seemed too slow. Maybe it was the tamber of the narration that bugged me. It made the main character seem to be speaking and making decisions so quickly. Two thumbs down. The story is good, but I found the descriptions of fight sceens to be lacking details that I needed to be more wrapped up in the story and plot. Maybe I would've gotten it better if I had read the words?? DNR the rest of the series. K.F. Breene's Magical Midlife out does this series 20 fold.
After reading this I still can't figure out how her ex did it but each day she is really getting stronger. The segregation between supernatural and mundane and just supernatural itself is so strict, but there's history there to explain that . But little old nobody witch Eve is finally getting her full powers back and she making some kick as friends while at it. She's no longer a nobody but someone that others are taking notice of and going to for help. She's doing things no one else thought of and kicking butt while doing it. I really enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next book.

Be still my heart. I love this series. I love Eve. She is learning about herself and enjoying life for probably the first time in her life. She is getting stronger and more confident with Nishi's help. I love the twists and surprise throughout the book. And some humor to make it interesting. Well written, once I started I couldn't put the book down. I needed to see what else happened in her life. Lots of conflicts and intrigue. and a surprise with Hunter. This is a series so there is a cliffhanger at the end of the book. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Eve, a witch, is excited to be free of her ex husband and opening up her own magical shop. Its for all supernaturals which is unheard of. When multiple magical beings (vampires, demons, witches, shifters) are affected by a supernatural disease she's ready to help. Unfortunately not all of them are thrilled with her desire to do so. Even the shifter alpha who is attracted to her. Her ex and his woman are also not thrilled with her. That doesn't stop her from trying to find a cure for all of those infected and get rid of the evil being behind it all. Received copy from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest Reviews.

Eve was married to Caton until he wanted the younger witch more and was doing what he had been doing with her power. Eve with Ayesha a fae who helped her start a magic shop and with some of her potions and was able to heal some from magical curses. Hunter helped her a couple of times mixing her potions then they kissed an d was told that it was a mistake not to happen again. Artemis took a human and made her a hunter with powers to help in the war to come and her boyfriend. Together they fought the weird monsters and then they found out who was behind all of the things happening. Good book!.

Right from the beginning when Eve used magic to toss her former husband out of her store, I knew I was going to like this book!
Eve is making a fresh start after her marriage ends. She is opening a store specializing in potions and spells. She wants these items available to everyone, which offends her former husband. Eve soon learns the extent of his lack of character...and it makes her stronger.
When a mysterious illness starts to spread, Eve wants to help, but will the Council allow her to assist all of those affected?.

Eve is finally divorced from her husband and is doing what she has wanted to do for a while. She is opening a store to help her towns supernaturals and mudanes. Then she gets pulled into a situation where hybrids that shouldn't exist are showing up. She meets Hunter the werewolf alpha when she goes to help an old friend. From there her life just gets more dangerous while her powers flare. A fast paced story about a woman/witch who is striving to find herself while battling her inner demons put there by her ex.

This is a very good story and worth the five stars it gets from me, BUT I am NOT happy about your use of the cliffhanger! The main character is a formidable woman who was ill used by her ex-husband in more ways than visible. The plot is straightforward and easily followed and the premise is finding out what is causing the supernaturals to wither and die, and stopping it. The main character is doing a great job of curing the ill, but they need to find the source. I most definitely recommend this book and my anger about the cliffhanger won't prevent me from reading more, BUT you authors need to find another way!
This was an entertaining book. It was recommended to me by Amazon since I read cozy supernatural mysteries. But, NOTHING about this book was cozy! 🤣
There was lots of gory violence and intensity!
Even though I could see that the main character was reclaiming her magic and power, I couldn’t relate to her personality which seemed brash and intense (I was more like that when I was in my 30’s), and I didn’t enjoy the “I need you but can’t have you” intensity between the two main romantic characters. I also found the sex scene to be a bit much. Is that because I’m queer? Maybe. Or because I am not into graphic sex in books? Maybe! 😉 That said, I enjoyed parts of the plot.

Eve’s ex-husband is a piece of work. Eve used the settlement to start a store to sell things the magickals needed from crystals, tarot cards to warding spells etc. She left the door open while she was putting things on the shelves when he came in and starts saying nasty stuff. He cheated on Eve with a woman that was closer to their daughter Mina’s age and who was on the witches council. Ayesha is the Fae leader and part owner of the store, until Eve pays her back. Nishi is also on the council as Artemis’ representative. The only person that seems to have a brain on the shadow council is Nishi. Nathan is Nishi’s Weird things keep happening. Things that shouldn’t be possible. Someone seems to be playing Dr Frankenstein on supernaturals. Every type of supernatural has now had something weird happen to a member. The seeds of war are being planted. Omg this book was awesome!.
