I'm a tea-guzzling, chocolate-loving, cat enthusiast who hails from the south coast of the UK. Who's lucky enough to have two wonderful but slightly eccentric kids. When I'm not writing, you'll find me reading.
My passion for paranormal and fantasy romance grew until it exploded into my own world, which I turn into books to be enjoyed by all. Otherwise, I'd be a crazy lady talking to people in her head!
I'll be back to tell you more about my books. If you love smoking hot alpha types and sassy, kickass heroines, you'll love them.
This was an interesting and complex Paranormal Romance. I really tried to get into this story but it just seemed all over the place to me. Yes; this story fits the Age-Gap trope of falling for your little brothers BFF but it fell flat in regards to the siblings dynamic. Why did the younger brother Tyler hate Tank and didn't vibe with his other siblings? Then you factor in the FMC having a baby by him and showing up years later with a 6 year old son and everybody is ok with it. The child speaks to his father once via telephone then it was fade to black until the end of the book. Umm what?
Now we get to the nitty gritty of Tank and his Guardian Warrior Team working overtime to keep the FMC and her son safe. Unbeknownst to the Lacey; she is special and possess powerful ancient "Essence" within her that comes from her mother. An "Essence" so powerful she is being hunted by the same Evil being who has kept her mother as his magical slave.
This book dealt with childhood trauma, abuse, neglect, fighting your inner demons as well as finding one's self and inner strength. A story of Second Chances, Redemption and a Love Worth Fighting for.
What kept me interested was Lacey's son Max because he was adorable and kept flexing his little Alpha aura and Tank's siblings Blaze and I-Do. I'm actually looking forward to reading their stories because I'm for certain Blaze is Mated to Zinnia who was another favorite character of mine.
Another fantastic book by Sammi, This new series is great you have lots of new characters but also still has some of the characters from Sammi's first series.
Tank is mysterious, strong and still has regrets for things to do with Lacey from the past, when Lacey returns after years away with Tanks nephew, Tank starts to try and work through his regrets.
Will he work through them and admit his feelings for Lacey and make her his mate.
I was lucky enough to proof read this book, if you have read Sammi's first series you will love this.
This paranormal romance is more complex than most, with multiple obstacles in the way of the happily ever after. Some are mental, magical/supernatural, but all are dealt with. I love Tanks' swoony Alpha personality and how he treats his women and will burn the world for her. However, Lacey's character doesn't know who she truly is, and her personality constantly changes throughout the story. I think I like the final rendition of her the best. I like that the author included a little steam, a lot of action, and a riveting storyline; even though it is twisted and sad, it still has a romance. I love Zinnia's character and want to know more about her. Not everything is perfectly resolved, but the romance at least ends happily for now.
I love the introductions to this book; in case you haven't read previous books by Sammi Mason, you may not know about the EA or Essence Authority, but the intro is a quick summary of important information.
Lacey is the rejected, abused foster kid who can't seem to find a home; she has lots of self-doubts. Lacey is damaged, and her issues may be a sensitive subject for some readers. This book takes us back to high school, where we get to know a bit of Lacey's past and Tyler, her one friend who also happens to be related to Tank and I-Do ( from previous books ).
After revealing the first chapter, we jump forward to the present day. Lacey's clandestine meeting with Tank, seven years in the future, doesn't go as planned, and she has a secret. I can't wait to find out what happens.
The secret comes out, and I can't wait for the story behind it. These two have a complicated history for which we don't have all the pieces. Also, this book doesn't take place in the same setting as the last but in North Carolina. I find it curious that the relationship between Tank and Lacey is riddled with complications and uncertainties, most of their own doing. Is it forbidden because of who she is and what she has been thru, or because they are making it forbidden to hide their lust for each other?
I love how caring Tank is a true mate who is protective, loving, and unselfish. This story gets more complicated by the revelation of a Lacey not being quite so ordinary. The author does include some steamy scenes for mature adults.
Lacey is an orphan who led a rough childhood with only one friend. Tank is her best friend's older brother who stayed away because of their age difference. Now Tank's a vampire shifter and Lacey is back in his life. But issues come forward that will change everything that Lacey knew about her life and where she came from.
I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest, unbiased review. Sammi Mason is a new author to me, and I really enjoyed this book which is first in a new series. I had no trouble reading this book and following along with things despite not reading Sammi's previous books. This book was well-written with well-rounded characters, and a well-thought-out plot. There is a lot of action, intrigue, and suspense in this steamy, paranormal romance and you won't want to put the book down. I fell in love with Tank and Lacey. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series and will definitely catch up with Sammi's other books. I highly recommend this book.
I would like to start by saying I received an ARC for an honest review.
No plot spoilers below.
This is the first book that I have read by Sammi Mason and I definitely believe that was an issue. This author knows how to write a brilliant story with very heavily detailed world building skills. Unfortunately, while this novel is the first in its own series, I felt I was confused most of the last half of the novel. I firmly believe if I would have read the previous EA novels that said confusion would not have been present. There were absolutely way to many characters introduced into this story. This tidal wave of characters didn't allow me to get to know each of them to actually care about them. Yes there are a handful of characters that you do get to know and care about but the additional characters was so frustration I kept putting the book down.
I also felt like this story was more about the main characters mysterious history than it was about the forbidden romance. No spoilers but if you're looking for a story that spends a majority of the book with the main characters falling in love or realizing they're mated this is not the book for you.
I have given this a rating of 3 stars currently because I firmly belive if you've read this authors previous series then this would be a decent read. Having the world building from her previous work would definitely come in handy for this novel.
This is the first time I'm reading from author Sammi Mason. I just found my next new author. This book was amazing! I loved the plot, characters and storyline. Lacey and Holt aka Tank were made for each other. Lacey had a hard life growing up until she becomes BFF with Tyler at the age of 13. That's when she first meets the Noble family and Tank is Tyler's older brother, he's 31. Tank is an true alpha male. When he first meets Lacey he's very protective of her. The whole family makes her a honorary member. When Lacey turns 18, Tank does something very stupid and Lacey finds herself all a lone in the world. Six years later Lacey tries to get back in touch with Tyler, but Tank won't a loud it. Until he finds out what she's hiding. Truns out he has a nephew. Now Lacey is back in the noble's lives, but all he** is about to break out. Tank is apart of a special team made of supernaturals. Also he's Lacey's true mate. Which he tries to deny because he still see that scared teenager and doesn't believe that he deserves her love. Don't worry mom and dad Noble sents him straight. Now there's an evil entity out to steel Lacey away because of her special essence. I'm not going to tell you what happens next. You just have to read the book to find out. I definitely need to read the other books that go with this series. I can't wait for book 2 to come out.
The story is complex, fast paced, full of actions, steamy bits, plenty of humour and magic. Despite the story being set in a complex magical world I've found easy to read and understand the mgical system.
The MFC Lacey grows up in foster care which leaves her with lots of traumas and scars. She is introverted, sensitive and creative soul who develops unrequited teenage crush on her BFF's eldest brother Tank. After disaapering she comes back in town ready to confront Tank while hiding a massive secret. Tank on the other hand has his own issues to deal with...recently turned into a vampire, struggling to accept his new fate and powers plus being tasked as the head of the Noble security team. He is swoon worthy hot alpha vampire/tiger who likes to be in charge, but under the tough exterior he is gentle, understanding and protective soul. The way he helped Lacey to overcome her difficulties in trusting people and improve her self esteem melted my heart. We all need Tank in our lives 🥰. Max is adorable and loved, loved how he stepped into his own alpha power, ordering everyone about effortlessly.
I absolutely loved the chemistry between Blaze and Zinnia (crazy ancient fae). I cant wait to read their story. Well done, Sammi.
I struggled with this book as it was a spin off from a series I hadnt read. There was a bit of a back story that explained Tank and the rest of the paranormal change... but it didnt feel like the smoothest of writing. It possibly would have made more sense having read the other series first.
As for the characters..... Lacey was an orphan.... with something that made her change potential foster/adoptive families... she ends up attacked more than loved. Tank is the other main character... I understand hes gone through alot of changes, but his surly attitude and lack of understanding of what is expected from him as an Alpha, annoyed me.
While the reason for Lacey disappearing from the Noble household was explained... it was glossed over. As was the immediate acceptance back into the fold, and Lacey falling for Tank after what he did... didnt make sense to me, there needed to be a large amount of grovelling thar never happened.
I loved the attitude between Lacey and Blaze. It felt like proper sibling ribbing and I Thought I-do was badass and wanna grow up to be her.
Such an intense powerful read, it kept me engrossed until the last page! Lacey’s life had been hard growing up but she now had a new life, one which she had a son she loved and would do anything for him.
She’d had a thing for Tank years ago but he never wanted her and sent her away, finding herself back in his life was harder than she thought.
Tank’s life and those of his brother and sister had changed dramatically a while ago and he still had to come to terms with what had happened but for some reason his inner beast was telling him to claim Lacey.
WOW, the action, suspense, secrets, witty moments and tragic moments within this story is just amazing, the emotions leap off the page. Lots of shifters with a twist, magic, mayhem and once Tank knew she was his destiny, he gave into his feelings he’d always had for her to add lots of steamy moments.
Would definitely recommend this story!.

This was the first time I have read a book by Sammi Mason. I really enjoyed and had a very hard time putting it down when I needed to. Lacey grew up in the foster system and experienced things there that no child should ever go through. She meets Tank when her best friend Tyler (Slim) takes her home to meet his family. Tank is Tyler's oldest brother. There is an instant attraction between them. After Lacey turns 18 things happen to make her lose contact with the whole family. This book was a fantastic read. It had a lot of action, adventure and of course romance. I enjoyed it so much that I am going to go find other books by Sammi Mason and anything related to this series!
I enjoyed this book. I think it was well written and the emotions were really raw and captivating. I however had a couple of niggles.
A lot of the 'essence' details were too complicated for me to grasp. I really still have no idea what the writer was talking about. I have no idea whan an 'essence' is compared with plain old shifter, witch, vampire etc. There were just too many crptic conversations and secrets that must not be told and all and I'm certaing this is all meant to keep readers interested. It just frustrated me.
Also, Tyler was introduced as this lovely, nice boy who went to bat for poor, downtrodden Lacey. Why and how did he then end up being made out to be this nasty person we glimpsed towards the end of the book?
The first chapter of this novel is a seven page back story on the lead character, and then suddenly in the second chapter it skips ahead by many years into present time. This was a huge jump for me, and left me with a lot of confusion as I continued to read the following chapters. In the trope/tags for this book, it mentions vampire shifter, but it goes into much more than that. I personally do not have much knowledge on Alpha, Beta, Fae, and other similar beings of magic and/or abilities, that this book talks heavily about. For me, it was distracting to the story line, and made it more confusing for me as a reader. That being said, someone knowledgeable to these topics, would more than likely thoroughly enjoy this book. Despite my confusion, I thought the storyline itself was interesting, and it’s what kept drawing me to pick the book back up. Lacey’s story is as all over the place as any foster girl’s life would be. You go through all the motions as she experiences all of the grievances of being a single mother, visiting and understanding her past, learning to love herself as well as others, and preparing to face the future - head on. You also get to watch Lacey build new and rekindle old relationships, and grow into the strong character lead she needs to be. The ending of this story does leave you with questions, and the interest to know more of what’s in store with Lacey’s future, which I’m sure the author delves into in the second novel of the series. Overall, I would recommend this book to readers familiar with the subject matter. It would be a great read for the right audience.
I found the writing good and I was intrigued by the world and relationship between Lacey and Tank. However as I hadn’t read the original series I was in the dark on a lot of the world history and events that had led to the creation of the team.
The book is written in a military romance style with the strong hero to save the heroine but we have the added paranormal element that keeps it fresh.
This paranormal age gap romance is about Lacey finding Tank after years of not seeing each other. He finds out that when she left she was pregnant with his little brothers son. Lacey has a powerful essence that ours her and max in danger. Tank and his team now have to work to keep them safe as he realizes how he feels about her.
Magic flowed from the pages! Tiger-Dragon's Forbidden Mate was captivating. Following the thoughts and passion of each character was tantalizing. The descriptions were real-time; I could feel and see everything as if I was present. Sammi Mason has done well with Book 1.
