Jess and her twin brother Matt are planning their birthday - but they can't agree on what sort of party to have. Finally they settle on a disco, but Jess isn't too keen on all Matt's friends coming! He's asked the whole class, so she feels she should do the same - even if that includes school boff, Becky. The only problem is, now Becky thinks Jess is her new best friend. When Jess goes shopping for an outfit for the party with her friends, they bump into Becky, who tags along and insists on buying the same things as Jess. Then the DJ that Jess's mum has booked for the party falls through at short notice - the whole thing looks like it's going to be a disaster... But between them, the Party Girls rise to the challenge!
Jennie has always been interested in stories. She was constantly making them up as a child, studied English at university and worked in publishing before leaving to write books of her own. Author of the Swallowcliffe Hall series for young adults, she also writes historical fiction for adults under the name of Daisy Wood. Cecil and Claude, the heroines of 'What We Did in the War' first crept into her head during a Creative Writing MA at City University in London, and she has been rewriting their story ever since - approximately a hundred years. Now finally here it is: a true labour of love!
this was the first book I got of this series and the only one I managed to own I think apart from 1 other one (I think I read some of the others). I read it many, many times in 2004. It was fun and a great read. I got teased for reading it (by the guys), but I liked it.
