i’m still very hopeful for this series because i want to love it so much because of the amazing concept. i really really want to love it, but momo is the only interesting and cool person right now. everything else is just so confusing, and the same things happen over and over again; therefore, it’s a little bit boring and i lose interest very often. but i managed to finish it and it wasn’t that bad.

it was okay, not really amazing and certainly not bad—just okay, but i won’t lose my hope that it’ll get better. i’m not ready to give up yet.

Stars rounding up. This manga is getting better than the first volume, especially in the latter half of this volume, but it still wanders from scene to scene and from serious to comedic awkwardly. Thankfully there's much less sexual imagery involving MoMo. Some of the humor is better integrated and some is odd. There's still a lot of pointless talking and these super old and wise (read that with sarcasm) vampires have fallen into high school rival cliches. Nearly an entire chapter is back and forth between Momo and another female vamp who wants to steal Keigo. So Momo's claimed to be this wise and mature woman, despite her child body, and yet this scene goes like:

Female Vamp (FV): I will steal Keigo!
Momo (M): (flustered) Wha...?!
FV: We should fight!
M: (flustered silence)
FV: totes j/k
Blah blah blah for pages, until...
FV: I*will* steal Keigo!
M: (flustered) What...?!
(Omg, repeat previous section 🤦‍♀️) until...
FV: I'm stealing Keigo.
M: (flustered) Wha...?!
FV: We'll battle by proxy.
M: (shocked silence, blushing)
Blah blah blah
Action starts (pretty good)
Blah blah blah interrupts good action
More action

That essentially shows that Momo continues to be the weakest character in this title. Her title. That's frustrating. I'm still thinking that Keigo, Vampire Hunter is a book I'd rather read. Take Momo completely out and the story could stand on its own in a vampire version of Tokyo Ghoul sort of way.

Serious Keigo Mikogami is still pulling Hellsing vibes. The vampire designs continue to be interesting and the violence and gore has an artistic quality. The drawing is really good. The latter half reads much better than the first and the characters are settling into grooves.

When it's serious, it's good. When Momo's involved, it easily devolves. She does have some funny, and even decent moments here and there, but even those are largely derivative - like she never would have encountered these obstacles before? And then she gets stuck in a "Wha...?!" loop like some high school or middle grade girl in a fight over a boy.

I want to like this. I do like this. But only if I ignore almost every element involving Momo. I hope to see her exuding the maturity she had in the first volume.

Die Reihe finde ich wirklich spannend und interessant. Vor allem ist sie originell.
Da es um einen zweiten Teil geht, fasse ich nur vage die Story allgemein zusammen.
Keigo ist ein ehemaliger Polizist (in Band 1 ist er es noch) und will den Mörder seiner Frau finden und töten. Das Problem ist aber, dass der Mörder ein mächtiger Vampir ist, der aus Lust und Laune Menschen tötet. Keigo trifft auf Persephone, eine Vampirin, die zwar aussieht wie ein Kind, aber trotzdem mächtig und eigentlich Erwachsen ist. Persephone hat einen Narren an Keigo gefressen und wählt ihn zu ihrem Gehilfen. Nun kämpft Keigo zusammen mit den Bloodtakern, der Vampirgruppe, die ihre Abtrünnigen jagt, zusammen. Doch auch auf Keigo wird Jagd gemacht und zwar von seinen ehemaligen Kollegen.
Ich finde die Charaktere alle sehr interessant. Keigo ist ein Charakter mit dem man mitfiebert. Man kann seine Wut und sein Bedürfnis nach Rache gut nachvollziehen. Seine kühle und doch auch sehr loyale und fürsorgliche Art ist sehr interessant. Persephone ist durch ihr sehr widersprüchliches kindliches Aussehen im Gegensatz zu ihrer Stärke sowieso ein toller Charakter. Richtig witzig finde ich Dante, der Vertraute von Persephone. Ich liebe es wenn er in einem Panel auftaucht. Er bringt viel Witz in die Story, auch wenn sie sonst eben auch sehr blutig und actionreich ist. So eine Mischung hinzubekommen, ist eine Kunst und für mich ist es hier einfach perfekt.
Der Zeichenstil und die Aufmachung des Mangas sind klasse. Das Cover hat eine Goldlack-Veredelung und auch sonst mag ich das düstere Cover. Eine schöne Farbseite ist auch enthalten.
Der Zeichenstil an sich ist auch super. Die Figuren haben aussagekräftige Gesichter und Akira Sugito wechselt zwischen einem süßen Stil und dem actionreichen Stil sehr gut hin und her. Und auch die witzigen Szenen, die immer wieder eingestreut werden, sind klasse.
Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Band, denn dieser Band hier, endete mit einem heftigem Cliffhanger.

Okay - still . . . the Lolita effect is weird. I can read past it due to the story's intriguing plot and characters - which are slowly building the world and the myth of the story.

I love the lore building around the vampires (many have tried vampire lore and failed) are almost Dracula but not completely - as a new lore sprung from this.

I cannot wait to find out what happens next in the story - what truth will be exposed or . . . an abrupt end; maybe?

I have mixed feelings. It’s a good plot to me at least. A few funny laughs but the way Momo or Persephone is portrayed sometimes. I get that she’s very old but she depicted as a literal elementary student. Her relationship with Keigo is a little weird

The little girl sexualization still disturbs me. I hold out hope a creepy relationship wont happen and the story will get real good.
