In the stillness of the mountains...someone is hunting

After walking away from a relationship that ended her career, and almost her life, Brooke Mather opens Crossroads Mountain Retreat--a rehabilitation center for injured law enforcement and veterans nestled in the Smoky Mountains. She pours her heart and soul into healing herself and others, but when the man who nearly destroyed her seems to breech her safe haven, she realizes she's never truly left his grasp.

Crossroads Mountain Retreat is the last place Detective Lincoln Sawyer wants to be after a devastating accident leaves him injured. But when a crime entangles the beautiful owner, he's drawn into the action. As both of their lives get caught in the crosshairs, he's determined to keep Brooke safe.

Brooke can't afford to get attached to the hunky cop who plans to return to Nashville. But when Lincoln puts his life on the line for her, the walls around her heart crumble.

As Brooke's stalker gets closer, he gets more brazen, and she knows it's only a matter of time before his next strike is a success.

Brooke and Lincoln are no match against the criminal's years of obsession and unleashed rage. Someone wants them both dead and innocent lives are in jeopardy until the madman gets what he wants--her.

So I made it 33% in the book and it was a struggle, took me all day, when I should have the whole book done in that time. I know that Brooke and Lincoln are supposed to end up as a couple, but I don't see the chemistry. Lincoln is more in his own head about his injury and solving the crimes that are popping up. Brooke, understandably is freaked out about what is happening to her. I find it hard to be interesting in what is happening to either one of them. I don't think this one is for me.

Wow I love this series so much already. Constant suspense with twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat many times, eager to discover what happened next. Lincoln and Brooke's story was such a great story about how sometimes events you think are leading to pain and heartache actually lead you to where you belong and with who you belong. These two battled enemies as they fell into their HEA together in a gripping story.

After leaving her police career due to a violent ex, Brooke opted for the quieter side of life including mountain scenery, good clean air, a slower pace, and helping others in law enforcement and military suffering the same or similar situations. The rundown place she visited often as a child seemed like the perfect choice. She had a lot of wonderful childhood memories with her grandfather at the place. With new resolve and dedication, she opened the Crossroad Mountain Retreat - a rehabilitation center she put her heart and soul into. Everything is going well until her cabin is broken into and a calling card is left behind. Brooke then realizes that she was not as safe as she thought and danger lurked in the shadows of her refuge. Her past has returned for revenge and this time she knew there would be no escape.

Suffering a possible career-ending injury to his shooting hand, Detective Lincoln Sawyer is dragged from Nashville to the Smokey Mountain retreat by his twin brother Cruz, who was also sheriff of the small town nearby. Lincoln enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the busy Nashville lifestyle so he was not at all happy about being dragged to the middle of nowhere for two weeks to bare his soul. He just wants to get through this and back to his life. Fate and danger seem to have other things in store. When Brooke is threatened and strange occurrences take place, Lincoln puts his detective skills to use to help his brother find answers before it’s too late. With his present and future hanging in the balance, will he be able to puzzle out the mystery and find answers in time to keep Brooke safe and prevent more tragedy down the line?

Brooke and Lincoln are both drawn to each other by circumstances, proximity, and instant attraction. Neither are looking for love, just to heal their bodies and minds and return to their normal lives. Fighting their potential connection is a mutual decision until danger shows up on Brooke’s doorstep, as well as at the retreat. Lincoln’s offer to help in the investigation and watch out for her becomes a safety net she can’t refuse. The higher the stakes and the closer they get feelings get muddled in the mix of survival causing complications neither can afford. However, realizing you found something perfect you didn’t realize you were searching for might be too difficult for either to walk away despite the danger they’re both facing in the end.

I loved this story! Danger, suspense, a sense of urgency, mystery, action, and romance fill the pages of this fantastic read. The storyline is intense and engaging and the characters are wonderful and relatable. This is an edge-of-your-seat book you won’t want to put down until the end, then you’ll still want more! I’m looking forward to Cruz and Zoe’s story; as well as the rest of the series. This backdrop is a great setup for many wonderful stories to come.

*This book includes 3rd person POVs from Brooke and Lincoln, characters suffering physical injuries or various forms of PTSD, violence/abuse, stalker/murder, mild language, and closed-door intimacy.

Danielle has written an amazing story. This story kept me into it till the last page.

Brooke had started a retreat to help men and women who lost everything but couldn't get back to the way they where before things happened to them. Brooke was the one who had problems that she need to work on.

Lincoln Sawyer was there to get himself together. Lincoln was there for himself. But always trying to protect someone from getting hurt.

Shay Lawrence was an ex to Brooke. He wouldn't let it go. He was bound and determined to have Brooke back or nobody would. He didn't care what he did but did he get Brooke back?

I love this book who would end up with Brooke in their life. When he want to hurt someone had it been someone cared about?
Danielle did a fantastic job with keeping the characters together and it brought tears to my eyes.

Brooke opened a rehab center for both physically and mentally wounded police and military after a violent ex destroyed her police career.   Detective Lincoln Sawyer  doesn't want to be there but his twin brother persuades him.  There starts to be dangerous events involving Brooke and she does not know if it is  her own past or tied to one of her clients. Brooke and Lincoln start to have an undeniable bond and they are in it together to find out who is causing the turmoil and destruction.  Does Brooke's mom have anything to do with it, is it her violent ex, a former client?  Will Brooke and Lincoln become more than friends, or is it too late for them?

This book had me from the start.  It is full of twists, turns, and suspense.  I could not put this down and cannot wait for the next book in this series.  This was the first book I have read from this author, it will definitely not be my last!  I received this as an ARC and it did not disappoint!

What a wonderful read! Lincoln and Brooke’s story is fast paced , full of twists and turns to keep you reading till the very end. Lincoln goes to Brooke’s retreat under duress to heal his body and mind after a brutal attack from a drug dealer. Brooke is trying to rebuild her life after a career ending injury and a crazy abusive relationship ends. How they find and heal each other to get to their HEA makes for a great story. Loved it!

If there is one thing that I really enjoy it is to spend my free time lost in a good romantic suspense story and Danielle Haas has written a good one in Crossroads of Revenge! After years of abuse from her former boyfriend Brooke was lucky to survive and create a new life for herself. In doing so she wanted her new business Crossroads Mountain Retreat to become a haven for others like herself who need self care and quiet reflection. Everyone who comes to Crossroads has a different story to tell and no one is the same. Lincoln is a police detective who's last case took an awful turn and has affected him greatly. His brother has encouraged him to come to Crossroads to heal, not only externally but internally as well. Brooke and Lincoln are drawn to each other but their journey together is not going to be an easy one because trouble from the past has found a way to rear its ugly head and things keep getting worse! I loved the twists and turns of their story and the supporting characters were fantastic. I am looking forward to more books in the Injured Pride series. Crossroads of Revenge was told from dual POV. It has action, surprises, humor and all of the romance is behind closed doors. Enjoy!

Crossroads of Revenge blew me away. I was loving reading the book. One night, about 60% through, I was going to read another chapter because it was already late. Well.... I ended up being up past midnight finishing the book.

So many amazing twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my bed (remember, I was supposed to be sleeping). I loved the setting of a kids camp turned officer and military retreat. The main characters, Brooke and Lincoln were so easy to fall in love with. I loved hearing the back stories and watching their relationship unfold. I also really hope my guess is correct and we get Cruz's story next. 🙂

This romantic suspense is simply amazing.

Crossroads of Revenge is the first book in a brilliant new series from Danielle M. Haas, with a very twisty story, that keeps you guessing right to the end. It sets the stage for good things to come, and I look forward to more.
At rock bottom, having lost her career in the police, and needing to get away from her abusive ex, Brooke Mather inherits a homestead from her grandfather. She’s turned it into a rehabilitation place Crossroads Mountain Retreat for LEOs and military personnel with job related physical and mental issues.
Lincoln Sawyer is a detective with a possible career ending hand injury. He doesn't believe the retreat can do anything to help him. However, to appease his superior and his twin brother the local sheriff he agrees to give it a try.
These two didn’t exactly hit it off at the start with Lincoln’s bad attitude. However, as things begin to happen and Brooke, and the retreat become someone’s target, they realise they are developing a connection.
I received an ARC of this book for my voluntarily review.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam: 🔥
Darkness: 🤍🤍🤍🤍🖤
Sub genres: Protector/ Mystery/ Small Town/ Suspense
M/F
POV: Dual 3rd Person
Stand Alone? This book can be read as a stand alone. However, due to character crossover the series is best read in order.

This closed door, romantic, suspense was a bit of a trip with all the stuff going on. It was action packed, full of intrigue, kept me guessing and had the sweetest love story. It was a great read and I am really glad I got to experience it.
The MCs in this book had great chemistry and I couldn’t put it down. I even read as I did chores and cooked because I didn’t want to stop reading long enough to get anything done. If you love a good story and want to skip the spice this is definitely the book to get!

Happy Reading my Friends!

What I like about this is that these people aren't perfect. Lin is in pain & is suffering & yet drives in to help out Brooke. Brooke is such a strong woman who has reinvented herself. Their coming together isn't perfect but slow and real. The secondary characters add meaning to the story. The suspense has you guessing who the hell is it when some things are obvious but hang on, abit too obvious. Finally love that they get their HEA. A good book to settle down to read & enjoy! A true review of my ARC copy.

Make sure to buckle up and keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times! This book is full of so many twists and turns, excitement around every corner. In between all the heart stopping drops that keep you on the edge of your seat the author gives us little bits and pieces of backstory for her characters. There is also a sprinkle of romance thrown in as well. Make sure you have time to carve out to finish this book asap once you begin. You will not want to put it down. The best part is that this is only book 1 in this series. I can't wait to start the 2nd book.

PG-13 Romantic Suspense

This book was well-written, and the characters were likable. The suspense plot was intriguing, and kept this reader’s attention, but the romance was sappy, and very middle-school. There was no kiss until 57% and the author only alluded to sex. Definitely, a very clean, and wholesome book. I prefer more steam with my romantic suspense novels…so I’ll pass on any other books by this author.

This is the first book I have read by Danielle M. Haas, but it will definitely not be my last. This story is about two damaged police officers who are each searching to overcome a traumatic experience in their lives. Ms. Haas also creates a complex plot that includes riveting suspense and non-stop action.

Lincoln was seriously injured while chasing a dangerous suspect. As a result, he cannot return to work because his shooting arm is useless and he is suffering from PTSD. Eventually, Lincoln’s brother convinces him to enter a rural rehab center that is near his own home.

Brooke, the owner of the rehab center, is also a former police officer. She has to leave the police force when she is seriously injured by her psychotic ex-fiancé. Brooke inherits her grandfather’s rural property, and she decides to turn it into a rehab center. She wants to help injured law enforcement people reclaim their lives.

Yet, Lincoln does not want to attend Brooke’s center. Even though it is a large, beautiful, mountainous area, he only sees it as a former youth camp in “Nowhere, USA.”

However, when Brooke discovers she has a stalker who wants to kill her, Lincoln decides to help his brother, also a policeman, find the perpetrator. He promises to keep Brooke safe. As danger surrounds both of them, Brook and Lincoln fall in love.

This page-turner contains many twists and turns that will confuse, and excite, the reader.

When her grandfather left her land in Pine Valley, Brooke Mather, former law enforcement, opened the Crossroads Mountain Retreat. The retreat offers law enforcement and military veterans a place to deal with their emotional and medical issues. Detective Lincoln Sawyer has been encouraged to attend the retreat by his brother, Cruz, who is a local police officer. A car accident has left him unable to perform his duties as the hunt for the man who caused his accident continues in Nashville. He doesn’t want to feel the immediate attraction to Brooke that he does, but slowly a friendship and trust develops between them. When Brooke’s abusive ex returns and threatens her, Lincoln vows to protect her. Believing that Brooke might finally be safe, they are blindsided when she goes missing. Someone else has been stalking Brooke, but who and why? Just as I thought Brooke and Lincoln were safe, another threat would come from a different direction. Loved the action and suspense! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation, from the author, for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

My gosh, I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story so much, so I was sad when it was over but at least there are more books. Brooke is trying to get away from her awful ex, so she leaves the police department to open The Crossroad Mountain Retreat on the place her grandfather left her for law enforcement & military folks who need to heal from things in mind, body, and spirit. Lincoln is a detective who ends up at her retreat after an injury, and he's not exactly happy about it but needs it for real since he needs to face some things. Neither saw the other coming, but it ended up being the best thing for them, and despite the fact that neither wanted it, they can't stay away from each other at the end of the day. Things get dicey for Brooke when strange things start happening, and danger is coming for her, but luckily, Lincoln steps up to the plate to help her figure it out before it's too late. At this point, it's a race against time so I was on the edge of my seat as the twists were coming in hot which is my favorite place to be. Between the emotional goodness and the suspense, this story was phenomenal so you definitely don't want to pass it up! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
