The black market was a response to rationing that was introduced during WWII. While illegal, the black market became a driving force in the Home Front– for those who could afford the exorbitant prices.Within towns and cities the blackout helped those involved in the black market, as it was easier to break into warehouses undetected. Docks were another source of illicit goods.The black market facilitated resistance and survival, but it also provided opportunities for people to enrich themselves at the expense of others in need.
The illegal trade takes place in secret, or in the dark, hence the name “black market.” Because black-market trade occurs “off the books,” so to speak, it represents a whole sector of a country's economy that cannot accurately be measured.
The entire UK coastline was off-limits to civilians and its landscape completely changed during the war. Anti-invasion defences were built across Britain between 1940 and 1941.

This was a nice story, about families, the war etc. It was also interesting to wait for the secrets to be revealed too.

I have now read all the biscuit factory girls books and find them great entertaining reading and felt like I really got to know the characters. Hopefully, there will be a book 4 to carry through the war on the ups and downs of the folk of Sixteen Streets.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐for me on the three of these books.

I truly loved this series. Has it ended? I just felt like I was really getting into the characters. Will be rereading and updating this review.
