In book five of the McKenna Mystery series, Grace finds herself in a tangle of one woman’s lies. When a gothic, angsty teen girl shows up in her visions, she’s forced to dissect the past of Amy Brooks, do-gooder and doctor’s wife who runs a non-profit for pregnant and grief-stricken women. One of those women happens to be a newcomer to Bridgeton, by the name of Charlotte Anderson. It doesn’t take Grace long to discover a rare bond between Amy and Charlotte, but as she digs deeper into their southern past, she uncovers all that has been left unsaid. Grace’s own impending pregnancy is gripping her deadline tighter than ever before, as she works restlessly to solve the crime and stop Amy before someone else gets hurt. In Chasing Ghosts, Grace has to step away from Bridgeton for the first time, to expose a ruthless criminal.

Amy, the Chameleon, Escaped and Morphed! 4.5***** Spoiler Alert
Grace, met surrogate mom-to-be Charlotte and Amy, her vision producing, arson setting, murdering, grifter - socialite at her OB visit. Working backwards, she uncovered Amy's drug afflicted, raped, grifter past, and her attempted murder of her daughter, Rachel, in FL. Through strange fate, her rapist Bates' wife became Amy's MomsSupport group bestie as the daughter Julianne attempted to kill her wounding Charlotte instead. Grace managed to let Amy escape, but Avree, school psychologist, and Grace are new moms, while Rachel and Charlotte are on new life paths. Sadly Ellen continues to spiral downwards. Mark and Grace's baby girl, Ellie (Ellen). An interesting, circuitous plot, with a theme of 'nature vs nature' along with actions and consequences. A Must-Read!
Grace bless her heart. She has this gift and the things it leads her through. She is an amazing lady. This book was definitely a whirl wind for sure. I wanted to keep reading. So be ready for a ride, if you read this book. To the Author thank you for making it possible to have a great entertainment through your writing. I enjoy this series. Happy Reading.
Still reading this Grace McKenna Mystery series. Number five, "Chasing Ghosts," is on of the more twisty plots as one woman tangles up quite a few people in her quest for wealth and respectability. Getting to know the ongoing characters in Grace's life engages me in this cozy mystery series. Going for number six now, "Bad Things."
I thoroughly enjoy all 5 Kate McKenna Mystery books byKate Anslinger. The characters were great, and the twists and turns of the story line kept me intrigued until the end.
Well written story of a woman detective who can see crimes in the eyes of the criminals. She's also in the late stages of pregnancy and finds a mystery. Not a fan of the ending though.
I was a little slow getting into the story, probably because I didn't start with book One in the series and didn't know what was going on with Grace' s visions. Once I started to see what was happening, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to learn what was coming next.
Kate Anslinger creates another winner, taking our favorite cop outside of her comfort zone to confront another frightening vision, a pair of women who are not what they appear to be and the impending arrival of the ultimate disruption to Grace's preferred routines: a baby. In CHASING GHOSTS, she forces Grace over the edge of her geographic envelope and into unfamiliar waters to save a life, just as she is about to create one. With Twilight Zone-esque suspense and the Graces usual indomitable pursuit of the truth Kate Anslinger has written an ideal beach read and a totally satisfying addition to the Grace McKenna Canon. (I received an advance copy of this book for review purposes.)
This series is totally enjoyable and worth a read! They would make a binge worthy tv series. The author does a great job ending with a twist and leaving the reader ready for more adventures with Grace McKenna!
