The Law of Quiet offers no mercy to those who break it. Death, or worse, waits as punishment.
It’d take a moment of absolute stupidity or desperation for Lauren to expose her feathers. She’s an adrenaline junkie, sure, but she isn’t stupid. She finds her thrills street racing instead of diving through clouds.
Nona has no idea that magic exists. Aside from her job as a nature guide, she lives a mundane life. Bills to pay, a kid to raise, an ex to battle.
But then life happens and both of theirs are turned upside down.
An contemporary fantasy featuring badass LGBT+ women.
This sassy, quirky, lesbian wordsmith was born and raised in the American Midwest. She’s prone to “opes“ and hour-long goodbyes. Please don’t hold it against her.
She’s got obnoxious, fluffy writing companions who know exactly when she’s busiest writing or gaming and insist on scritches and snuggles. Right now!
She spends her days nerding, wandering, and beavering as whim dictates. Sometimes even writing. Okay, maybe she works at dirty nine-to-five to pay to the bills, but someday, all her hours will be her own to, oh look, something shiny!
After reading about the Author I was thought that this was going to be an all Lesbian, all the time, soft R porn type book. It is NOT. (Major credit to the Author!) I was really surprised at the gradual, subtle, confusing time our two leading ladies had coming to their own conclusions on their feelings for one another. But I was REALLY surprised by the fact that only one of them is actually 100% human! This is an easy read; but you won't forget these characters when you do have to put the book down! Many surprises and I am going to be pushing for book two for more development of these characters and their situations!
This is a really good story. The author has done a great job with the world and the main characters were interesting and three-dimensional. The ending is satisfying but gives some hints about what's to come after. I'm not sure if this is the first in a series or a standalone, but I sure would like a second book to see where those hints take us.
Very interesting story. A few confusing transitions, but overall, the story, characters, and ideas within the plot are compelling enough to overlook the occasional rough transitions.
