Meg Ripley is an author of steamy shifter romances. A Seattle native who’s relocated to New England, she can often be found whipping up her next tale curled up in a local coffee house with a cappuccino and her laptop.
I thought Evan going after his dream of being a father was interesting, he was lucky that he found a good surrogate in Amy. The twist, though, both realized at their first meeting they were "the one" for each other.
It was easy to see why Amy was leery of anything other than the initial contract with Evan for a baby. I liked that through the pregnancy Evan was able to show her with actions and words that he was so much better than his ex, that he was more than a sperm donor, but would be a dad.
I also loved seeing Amy's dream of the food truck come true. I hated the one bad spot of the food truck and knew by the end of the book things would get taken care of. Just didn't expect things to go down the way that they did.
I liked how this one ended, liked that Evan and Amy, but mostly Amy, took a chance at life and found happiness.
Bear shifter Amy is 41 and has finally dumped her ex who gambled away her kids' college funds and left her in debt. After putting everyone else first for 23 years she has decided that this is her time and she is going to open a food truck - she just needs the capital. Then an opportunity arises and she grabs it - she is going to be a surrogate for another bear shifter called Evan who just wants a child as he feels he is never going to find his mate. So she signs the baby contract as having already had three children it should be easy money. Then a major fly in the ointment arises - he is actually her mate and they end up making the baby using the old-fashioned way. Determined to open her truck she refuses to agree to accept him and he is equally determined to get her to accept eventually. Who is going to win this battle, or will they actually both win?
I enjoyed this story although I did get a little annoyed with Amy as she seemed to have no sense of self-preservation let alone responsible for the child that she was carrying. I also felt incredibly sorry for Evan as he did so much for her and sometimes I wondered if she was even grateful. So although it was well written and easy to understand, I did find Amy very hard to like let alone understand. I did love the old lady Leonora who was a real bad-ass! Contains some sexual content.
Bear’s Midlife Surrogate is the seventh title in the Shifter Nation: Fated Over Forty series and brings two mates together… finally. But perhaps just a touch too late when Evan decides that he’s done waiting for his fated mate to appear and decided to bring his dream of having a cub to raise, love, and secure his heritage to reality by hiring a surrogate. A woman who turns out to be his mate… his uninterested in a lifetime together mate.
Amy has finally dumped her jerk of an ex-husband after years of being with a man who was not her true mate, and a man who puts his gambling addiction above everything else. The jerk has stolen money from his kids, and his ex-wife leaving her in debt while he moves on without a care. Amy’s dream of opening a food truck (cart) business went out the window when, because of her ex, she was unable to get a loan. When she saw the notice for a surrogate she jumped at the chance. She has three adult children, loved being pregnant (for the most part) and the fee offered would definitely get her business off the ground and out of her dreams. But fate has one more twist for Amy… the bear who wants his own cub is also her mate. And she’s never setting aside her dreams again for anyone so she says “No, not interested” to Evan and his bear. She’d carry his baby but they had no future as mates.
I adored Evan. He’s a man who knows what he wants, a child of his own even if he will need to raise that cub alone (aside from family and clan). Discovering that Amy was his mate was both the happiest day of his life and the most heartbreaking as well. His mate might not want a life with him and their cub, but he would do everything in his power to make certain that she’s watched over and tenderly cared for during the pregnancy.
I also loved Amy, and I certainly understood her reasons for turning Evan down. She’s always given, set aside her dreams for others or because of the actions of others. She deserves to see her dreams come true. Watching Amy softly fight Evan on just about everything in order to maintain her independence was emotional. They’re mates, one of them shouldn’t be fighting so hard to remain apart but I understood why.
The villain here is particularly vile. And as danger is added into their lives this couple will have no choice but to begin working together, even if reluctantly on Amy’s part. Bear’s Midlife Surrogate is a combination of tears and laughter, finding love and facing reality, fighting off danger, and learning to lean on others for help. The chemistry between Amy and Evan is sizzling, the secondary characters fit so naturally within the story, and some have or will have their stories told one day soon. I loved watching this couple work their way to their happy future, but it certainly is a road filled with potholes to maneuver. Would I recommend this story? Oh, definitely – I already want more… and I have a couple of books in this series on my TBR pile that are being moved to the top because I don’t really want to leave this world yet.

This book is part of the Shifter Fated Over Forty series and the main characters are Evan, a logger for his family’s business, and Amy, who is newly divorced with three grown up children. Both of them are bear shifters and connected over an advert. Her ex-husband gambled away absolutely everything, from their kid’s college funds, to their home! There went her dreams of starting her own food business as well. When she saw an advert on a shifter’s only post, asking for a surrogate, she jumped at the chance. She lived being pregnant with her kids and this would give her the chance to buy and open up her own food cart (truck). When she meets up with Evan, he recognises immediately that she is his fated mate and when he asks if she realises this, she makes it plain that she isn’t interested in raising another child! She has already raised her three and this is her time to make her own dreams come true. Evan has to quickly accept that, as his main aim was to have his own cub, before he got any older. If he pushes the fated mate thread, then she could refuse to go through with the contract! Amy’s own bear isn’t very happy with her decision, but she pushes it back down and insists on going ahead with her plans. Their exchange of fluids doesn’t go quite how they expected, with Amy needing a wee bit of extra help the old fashioned way! Evan arranges a shifter midwife, who deals in reiki and alterative healing, but Amy gets a really good vibe from her. She had asked Evan a few test questions about what he was willing to do, to ensure the pregnancy went well and he passed with flying colours. But she doesn’t want to rely on him too much, preferring to do things for herself. Evan finds it a difficult balancing act, supporting her but not being in her face helping her all the time. He spends his days off helping taking her shopping for stock for her food cart, giving her contact details for others who can help her, including a professional kitchen where she can practise her recipes. She has moved to a pretty dismal area of town, into a basic one bedroom flat, with not a lot of space. Evan has the support of his clan, but when Amy starts having trouble with the owner of many of the other food trucks where her pitch is, she refuses to accept his or the clan’s assistance. She is determined to deal with it all herself. Lots of stuff going on and some interesting sounding tacos, making me hungry. Each of them has their own battles to overcome and both struggle with everything going on, especially with the fated mate link. Danger stalks Amy and the baby at the end of the story and Evan gets an early surprise. Their original plans may have been set out in stone, but things change when two people are faced with such stressful situations. Thankfully it all ends with a HEA ending. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
A good read for people who are into the series recommended highly a good read but quick shaping up to be a enjoyable series must read the next one of the series
Evan Thompson is a bear shifter that is looking for a surrogate to have his baby. He is 45 and still hasn’t found his mate, so he is taking becoming a parent into his own hands.
Amy Brooks is 41, raised her three children, recently divorced and is finally ready to get on with her life doing what she wants to do. She has always wanted to have a food truck, but when she went to a bank to get a loan she found out her ex had taken out a credit card in her name and had ruined her credit. She sees Evan’s add for a surrogate and figures this is the only way she will ever get enough money for her food truck so she answers it.
When they meet for the first time, Evan can’t believe it. Amy is his mate. After they talk and decide to proceed, Evan tells her she is his mate. She says she knows but she is going to ignore it because she is finally getting to do what she wants for the first time in her life and she isn’t going to let anything get in the way of that.
I love how the relationship develops between Evan and Amy. He is so patient and caring, not what she is used to in a man. As the pregnancy develops and she gets her food truck up and running things seem to be going well, until she notices something funny going on in the other food trucks. With Amy stirring up a hornets’ nest, can Evan keep her and their cub safe or will he loose them both?.

This was a fun book to read and the main characters had me rooting for them and had me hoping they could work it out. Amy is a 41yr old mother of 3 and her ex husband gambled away the kids college funds and her dream of owning her own food truck business so he is now her ex and she needs cash fast and see’s an add for a surrogate and has always loved being pregnant and so she applies and they arrange to meet at a coffee shop. Evan a 40 yr old wants to be a dad and has given up at ever finding his mate after watching everyone around him mated and having a family and so he decides to get a surrogate and be a dad and now has a meeting with Amy who as it turns out is perfect and his mate and he knows she feels it too. Now he needs to convince Amy that everything will work out and having a baby the old fashioned way isn’t an issue and that her dreams can still come true. But Evan has no intention of letting his mate and child go without a fight but he needs to insure her that her dreams can still come true with him.

"I kind of like the idea of making someone else’s dream come true in order to realize my own. ..."
"... It’s good karma.”
Evan is ready for fatherhood. He hasn't met his mate, but thanks to modern science he can have a cub without a spouse, leaving the hope he'll still one day meet his match. That his surrogate could turn out to be his fated mate never crossed his mind.
Amy married young, and foolishly. She gave up on her dreams to raise kids with a man who left her feeling like a single mother. Now she's out of that relationship, her kids are grown, and she's not looking to get trapped again, no matter how perfect the bait.
This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is a delight. Centering on the challenges of works life balance, of trying to plan when a family will fit into a career, and adapt your dreams to the demands on your schedule, this story is full of so many relatable concerns and frustrations, all of which look different when faced, head-on, by two people who care about each other, prioritize one another, and strive to help them make their dreams come true.
I really enjoyed reading Bear’s Midlife Surrogate(Shifter Nation: Fated Over Forty)!!! All about Amy Brooks a forty-one year old Bear shifter/cook & Evan a forty-four year old lumberjack/mechanic bear shifter. Evan advertised for a surrogate, and Amy just so happens to be his mate answered the ad. She recently got divorced has three grown children and her ex cleaned out all bank accounts, so she’s taking this surrogate contract to jump start her food truck career. Evan advertised in Shifter Ally a published newsletter and was so happy when an experienced mom answered his ad. He was particularly happy to find out she is his one true mate. Although she also feels the bond she dismisses it, cause of her future plans and agrees to the contract. Read about Amy & Evan as they journey thru this surrogate plan. Lots of emotion & some toe curling does occur. This is a fantastic series!!! Make sure you read it in order, so you get to know the other residents of this small community!!! Definite Read!!! Can’t wait to read book three!!!
Amy is setting out on a new adventure. Her kids are grown and she's dumped her ex. She finally gets to do something for herself. Unfortunately though her ex left her in the red. Opting for an unconventional method in order to fulfill her dreams she offers to be a surrogate for a hunky shifter. When Evan sees his friends and clan members finding their mates and having babies he realises he longs to be a daddy. Never in a million years did he think that the woman who answered his ad would be his fated mate. When Amy realizes the same she thwarts his intentions. Nothing will stop her from getting her taco shop off the ground. Not a baby nor her fated mate. This book pulls at your heart for Evan. He certainly goes above and beyond. The unexpected turn of events makes you sigh with relief. Evan is a keeper that's for sure and we have a happy ending!.

Amy’s three children have grown and flown the nest, she has divorced her waste of space husband and is determined to live her own dream, of running her own food truck. Unfortunately, her ex has a gambling problem and has left her with no credit options, so she answers an advert for a surrogate. Evan has waited and waited, but his mate has not arrived and he desperately wants a family, so he advertises for a surrogate to carry his cub. Imagined his surprise when Amy arrives and is his fated mate! But she wants nothing to do with a relationship, she’s been there and done that. This was such a fantastic read: I can understand Amy’s thinking, especially after being married from school to such a selfish man and poor Evan, he tries to be supportive but not overprotective but is desperate to be more. On top of all that, there is a mystery at the food cart area that Amy is determined to uncover at any cost. I voluntarily received and reviewed an ARC copy of the book.
After 20+ years of marriage and three children, Amy Brooks’ husband wiped out their savings, ruined her credit and disappeared when she filed for divorce. Evan had been waiting for his fated mate but here he was closing in on 45, his closest friends and family had mates and children. He decided he could at least have children! For years, Amy’s dream was a food truck but she couldn’t get a loan, the ad for a surrogate would give her enough cash, so she answered.
Within ten minutes of meeting, Amy and Evan knew they were fated mates. Evan was excited but Amy was frustrated and adamant it was her time, she’d spent her 20’s and 30’s putting everyone else first and wanted her truck! Amy rejected Evan’s advances and held him at arm’s length. But the Johnston clan does their best to ruin her business and when that didn’t work. Amy was run off the road and went into early labor! They’ve gone too far this time. Rating: 4.25stars
Evan’s friends are finding partners and having children. As he is in his mid forties, he decides he’d like to have a cub. Without a significant other, he decides to go the surrogate route. The person he interviews has had 3 children in the past who are all grown up but she’s in need of some money for a business venture she’s looking to start.
Evan knows immediately that Amy is the one but she’s not interested in starting any type of relationship. Evan helps out as much as he can as he wants to insure there are no issues with the pregnancy. Amy has started her dream business but has run into a character who is threatening a number of the business owners to do what he wants.
Enjoyable characters and a easy read. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This was a cute, sweet and enjoyable story. Even wants a child, but hasn't found his true mate yet. So what better way than to get a surrogate. I like Evan. He knows what he wants and goes for it no matter the obstacles. He puts others ahead of himself. Caring and willing to go the extra mile to help others. He knew Amy was his true mate when he met her. She also knew, but just got out of a terrible relationship and for once in her life wanted to be independent. Amy is a strong person. Good chef and creative. She thinks she has her priorities correct. Liz plays a major role in their lives. It was great to see her work her magic. Great HEA, no cliffhanger. This is a stand alone story but best read in order to get the most from the series and secondary characters.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Evan has decided it’s time for him to have a child and chooses Amy as his surrogate. When they meet, he realises she is his fated mate. Amy’s not interested as she’s al-ready raised a family, with an ex-husband who ripped her off. She now wants to do something for herself. Fate has different ideas though! Loved all the small ways Evan helped her and demonstrated effortlessly what a good man he was, whilst respecting her boundaries. Enjoyed Amy’s strong character and sense of right and wrong, refusing to be swayed into ignoring suspicious behaviour at the food park, even though it led her into danger. Great couple, so well suited. Book was well written and well paced, I found it hard to put it down until it was finished.

Meg Ripley does it again! Book 7 of Shifter Nation: Fated over Forty, Bear's Midlife Surrogate is another fantastic shifter story. In this book it is Evan's turn for happiness. He has decided he wants a baby and has decided to hire a surrogate as marriage or a committed relationship is not in his foreseeable future. Amy wants to own her own food truck but her ex husband has destroyed her credit and she cannot come up with the funds. She reads Evan's ad in a shifter publication and then becomes the surrogate. I really enjoyed this book. It was easy reading and I did not want to put it down. Ms. Ripley does a great job with her characters and it is nice to see some of the characters from previous books make an appearance.

Evan's given up on waiting for his fated mate, but he'd like a cub so he advertises for a surrogate to carry the cub for him. Amy needs money desperately so she applies and when they meet they both realize that they are fated mates but Amy initially baulks at mating.
Evan isn't prepared to give up on his fated mate and manages to convince Amy to be his surrogate, hoping that they will get to know each other. Evan intends to keep both Amy and his cub but will he be able to? When Amy runs into trouble she's reluctant to let Evan help but does anyway.
This is the seventh book in Meg Ripley’s Shifter Nation: Fated Over Forty series, and this story shows that being more mature doesn’t mean your libido is gone, I love this series and enjoyed this latest addition to an already addictive and entertaining series.
Amy answers an ad about being a surrogate for a man. She applies because her ex has left her in debt, and she wants to start her own food truck business. Evan knows from the moment he meets Amy that she's, his mate. However, after everything she's been through its hard to convince her to take a chance with him. As she is pregnant, she starts getting her truck up and running. But a guy at the food truck camp isn't working on the legal side and things causes some problems between him and Amy. Will Amy end up in danger because of the guy running the other food trucks? Can she see that Evan is perfect for her?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Trigger warnings Threatening towards pregnant woman Intentionally causes wreck
Amy agreed to be Evan's surrogate for the cub he wants, but when they meet in person, they know they are fated mates. She doesn't want to be starting over; she only wanted to help him get a baby so she could start a food truck. They tried to do the handsfree method but ended up making the baby the old-fashioned way. He wants her and the baby, but she just wants to do her own thing. Once she gets her food truck up and going, she notices something strange about the other ones in the area. But when the man behind it comes after her, can she and the baby survive? Will she ever agree to stay with her mate? Each of these books follows one couple's journey to love. The characters carry over into other books, with very few typos or trigger issues.
Destiny Means Inevitability - This was an intriguing shooter romance story, about fated mates with a complicated path towards their happiness. Each page turn had me on tenterhooks, waiting with bated-breath for Amy to acknowledge what Evan and everyone else around them already knew. I suggest you carve out a few hours where you would not be interrupted, so you can enjoy this captivating read, that is filled with drama, suspense, excitement, danger and seductive sexual tension.
This touching love story, will not only have you chomping at the bit to tell your friends and family, but also leave you looking forward to read the next book in the series.

I just couldn’t NOT love this book! Evan is tired of waiting for his fated mate, so he puts an ad out for a surrogate mother for him. Amy, in dire need of the money, answers the ad. They both realize that they are fated mates but Amy is tired of putting herself last and wants to do something for herself. Evan convinces Amy to be his surrogate so they can both get what they want. Naturally, Evan has ulterior motives. He intends to keep Amy and his cub safe and keep them both. Amy runs into trouble and is hesitant to accept Evan’s help but does so. These characters were all well developed. I enjoyed the interaction between Amy and Evan. It could get steamy at times! There was no cheating or cliffhanger!.

Evan wants to have a child, he is fed up of waiting around for his mate so puts out an advert for a surrogate. When Amy turns up and agrees to be his surrogate, he can't believe his luck as she turns out to be his fated mate. But Amy is at a time in her life when she has raised her own kids and wants to start her own business so she is not interested in getting into a relationship even though her bear recognises her as her mate. But Evan is determined to be around to help withe the pregnancy and resisting becomes harder, but when Amy gets put in danger perhaps it's time for her to realise that she needs Evan after all.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend reading it.

Story Review: MMC/FMC- Evan and Amy POV- 3rd person Genre- Paranormal Romance Sub Genre- Shifter (Bear) Heat- 🌋🌋☄️ (1🌋=2☄️). More plot than hot. Series? Y Safety? Y Triggers- Sex and Violence Tropes- Surrogate Romance, Fated Mates, Bear With Me What I liked- the characters. I particularly liked Lenora. I don’t want any funny business either. What I didn’t- I’d have liked to have seen more of the Bear Clan, but really, I have no complaints.
Narration Review: Narrator was clear and easy to understand. His voice was okay. He didn’t do a bad job at the female voices, but I found myself falling asleep to his voice. It was not very engaging.

I enjoyed this book. I liked that both Evan and Amy were both bears, so there were no surprises in that regard. After raising her kids and divorcing a bad husband, she was ready to put herself first. Being a surrogate would get her the funds she needed for her own goals. Evan, having never found his mate, decided on a surrogate so he could have a child. Neither imagined that the other would be their fated mate. And while Evan would have been happy with her, Amy pulled away, not wanted to have to raise another baby and put aside her dreams once more. But the more time she's spends with Evan, the more she sees he's nothing like her ex.
D.C. Cole does another good job bringing these characters to life.
Quick read. I like that characters from previous books are intertwined throughout the series. Liz, the midwife, has a cameo in this story since Evan wants her to oversee the surrogate pregnancy. I liked Amy initially, but that quickly changed. I understood why she rejected her mate, but it was selfish. Evan was wonderful to Amy despite the rejection. I liked him. I wasn't sure of the point of the scene with Evan's mother because it was really the only time you read about her; I wasn't a fan of her either. The story wrapped up without giving much detail about Seth's operations... I wanted a few more details about this. Overall, the story was a quick read. Great if you have nothing to do or want a guaranteed HEA. 2.5-3 stars
I always like Meg Ripley's stories because they are easy to get immersed in. This was another interesting one about a woman trying to start life over again after divorcing her ex that was never attentive and also ruined her credit and wiped out her three children's college funds. She agrees to be a surrogate for a man so she could have the funds to start a business but they both realize they are fated mates. She tries to stay true to her new life's plans but she realizes that this new man is nothing like her ex was and he only wants to make life easier for her. His love is making her rethink her former goals.
