Fired, divorced, and broke, Piper Garland is all out of hope. Until she inherits a house in a village she's never heard of. A house that's all the way across the Atlantic.
Building contractor Camilla Fabbri spends her life pleasing others: her friends, her clients, not to mention her enormous Italian immigrant family. Which is probably why she's still single and living in a van on her parents' farm.
But when Cam quite literally fishes a strange American tourist out of the village duck pond, everything she's ever known is turned upside down. An instant connection is formed, even if it's not one that either woman particularly wants.
Sometimes the best things in life are the ones you don't plan for. And with a cast of six burly brothers, a mysterious penfriend called Twinkle Toes, interfering friends and grumpy neighbors, assorted ER staff, a slimy real estate agent, plenty of ducks, plus an enormous Great Dane, Piper and Cam are going to find that plans can only change...
Crossing the Pond is the first in a new series of Transatlantic WLW romances from Sienna Waters, the bestselling author of The Wrong Date, Tea Leaves & Tourniquets, and A Quiet Life. The books can be read in any order and are standalones featuring only the happiest of endings.
It seems that every time I finish a book by Sienna Waters I have a new favourite. I honestly don’t know how she does it. She just delivers every single time and the thing is her stories even get better with every book. I had such a blast. Even if her stories are always funny and make me smile, I felt that this one was even more funnier.
I guess an American in England just always means lots of fun. But of course it’s not enough to only add such a character, you also need to deliver and do your research. I know I’m repeating myself but it’s just because I’m so in awe of Sienna Waters. The way she describes some of the differences between the two cultures including their language is perfect. Then this American character (Piper) is more clumsy than me when I try to dance, which makes it even more perfect. Of course this American is charming aside from being clumsy and the poor English woman (Cam) doesn’t know what hit her.
I need to add that Cam‘s family is Italian and this includes her having five brothers. Another fact that added to the fun of this story. So far Cam never thought about her dream person could be a woman but then everything changes when she starts to work for Piper. Even if they totally know it’s not really wise to get involved together, it‘s so hard for them to resist when the pull is so strong. I‘m telling you the heat definitely was turned up quite a bit. Lol
I also have to say that Sienna Waters broke my heart a tiny bit in this story, but while she did it I already knew she will put it back together and make me forget this happened at all. And that’s exactly what she did. I even had more of a blast the closer I got to the end and the epilogue was just like the highlight of the whole fun fest. ☺️
Seriously I can’t recommend this book enough and applaud the author for this rom-com. Because that’s exactly what it is. A rom-com that will bring you so much fun and of course love. 🥰

When days are cloudy, you hope for a silver lining. Thing is, Piper's been through so much she can't see any clear days ahead. Then she's advised of an inheritance in the U.K. - she's been left a house. Across the pond in a quaint village, Cam/Camilla an aspiring contractor is in a pickle. From a big family with 6 brothers, she desperately wants to establish independence. She'd signed a lucrative reno contract but her client died before work commenced. When and how our leads meet sets the humorous tone and there's a duck pond is involved! Time goes by with a hiccup or two and the renos are slated to start. Mind you, there's a bit of attraction between the two, then the kiss and everything changes. Thank goodness for Piper's BF Joey (back in the States) and Cam's BF Beth the "Canadian" who owns the cafe and bookshop in the village. Ms. Waters storyline and writing easily pulled me into this well paced romance. Her plot has a rambunctious "Italian" family, nosy villagers, a packet of hidden love letters, a sleaze bag realtor, touch of angst, lots of humor and of course heat. Hey, throw in the Yank/English differences, cups of tea, a little cottage, Great Dane Billy who orchestrated the first meeting, tie a bow and we have a HEA. I loved Piper's brashness hiding a soft heart (good grief she's injury prone)and Cam's slow evolution from do-gooder to letting her strengths shine with spine.
Heartily recommend and on my re-read shelf.

Sienna Waters brings us another sweet romance, with a charming American fish-out-of-water in the UK. Being a Brit myself, yet writing in US English, I smiled at the linguistic fun Ms. Waters brings here as I enjoyed poor Piper struggling to "feast" on good ol' British nutrition 😉.
The village setting oozes charm and peace, and it's easy to see why Piper considers moving soon after meeting and hooking up with Cam. But she knows reality must intervene and she and Cam can only be a thing until she goes home after the renovations to her late great-aunt's house.
Nothing in Crossing the Pond intially strikes you as that original, and that's writing skill, in this case, I would say. It's only when you later consider such elements as the daughter of an Italian immigrant choosing to be in constrution and house refurbishment, or life in the 1950s (dropped in thru a neat backstroy of the Piper's great aunt) that you realize there are more ingredients here than you first thought. That's because Crossing the Pond stays firmly light and fun, romance with a liberal dash of rom-com thrown in, and why you can enjoy how Cam's numerous brothers behave towards the end!
Sweet, light, fun. Don't look for too much angst and self-reflection; do look for atmosphere, wit, and a charming romance 😀.
Piper needs an escape from a bad situation. An inheritance is her chance to get away from everything. A great Dane and a duck pond is the start of a new friendship that soon leads to more. There is an instant connections between the main characters and it was adorable. I fell in love with Cam. She sure knows how to fix things and I don't just mean in the field of renovations. Crossing The Pond is a very enjoyable read with a great cast of characters and written with humor. I loved the teasing that goes on between the siblings. Also, the different habits, traditions and words between Americans and English are also displayed in a humorous way. Surely recommended.
Sienna Waters on Kindle Unlimited has solid lesfic stories.
I always enjoy them for light, humorous, touching reads that bring interesting elements together.
I really enjoy this story of Piper, an American woman, who is still reeling from the end of her long-term relationship, and being let-go by her job, then discovering she's been left a house by a great-aunt in a quaint English village!
Cam is a selfless contractor, with an overbearing Italian family, who call the village home. The two women hit it off instantly and begin a journey of discovery and enlightenment for each of them. Both learning things about themselves, and the differences in culture.
It was fun to see Piper struggle with a lot of the British words and customs. She also ended up being quite accident prone. Luckily Cam comes to her rescue, and they soon become more to each other. Until the penultimate end of Piper's stay lingers near.
But in true fashion, like any romantic comedy - it all tends to work out how it's supposed to. There was quite a good cathartic scene toward the end, dealing with letting go of an old relationship, and moving on. It could have easily became far more melodramatic but I was pleased with how it was handled, so it bumped it up to 4 stars for me.
I have a soft spot for Piper since I too am a bit accident prone. Cam is wonderful at rescuing the damsel in distress. Cam has never considered dating a woman until meeting Piper. The two hit it off as friends right away. The village has it's cast of characters. This is a sweet friends to lovers story that will make you laugh and root for love to win out.

Lovely book with characters I was totally sold on. A special story that gives us all hope. Loved it. Highly Recommended. Oooh, off to 2nd in series now….
This is as much a romantic comedy as a seriously ironic look at North-Americans and Brits and their use of the not quite so common language they seem to think they share, as well as their other cultural differences and pecularities.
Apart from that it is the funny tale of Piper (out and proud) and Cam(illa), who is not even sure of her sexuality when they first meet. Lots of room here for misunderstandings or misinterpretation of things. Then there are the absolutely funny side characters, Cam's family for example, and the inherited dog, as well as the owner of the local Café and bookshop, Beth, the voice of reason. All in all a weird and wonderful mix and a touching and emotional read. Straight for the top favourite shelf.
I loved CROSSING THE POND. Great plot concept and really nice relatable characters. Sienna Waters always writes a good one and this is no exception. Made me want to live in a small English village and have a heap of brothers. Oh, and a very nice handy person as well.
I found this beautiful book on my TBR shelves. Piper is lost, her 10 yr relationship is over, she just lost her job and she doesn't know what's next. Until she reads a letter from England! Her Aunr Lucy from England passed away and left her a house. When she gets to England, she meets Billy, her Aunts Great Dane, who promptly pulls her into the duck pond, and she's saved by Cam! This is a gorgeous love story! 5 stars!
I just love all Ms Waters’s books and this is best of them all. American, Piper is at rock bottom, she has just got divorced and lost her job. Then she finds out that she has inherited a property in a small village in England. She ‘crosses the pond’ to visit this property and whilst there she encounters Cam who is a builder and helps Piper out doing up her property. Don’t be put off by the slightly predictable storyline; this book is well written, with interesting characters including a Great Dane and lots of brothers. Minimal aghast, just enough to keep you reading right to the end. Really enjoyed this book sunning myself in the garden with a Pimms. A must read for all you romantics out there.
If you are looking for a sweet romance with not a lot of angst and funny and sweet moments, this is a book for you to read. Sometimes I just like a book that just flows nicely and there isn't a lot of angst and drama. I loved the story and the little mystery too. Worth a read.

This book had me smiling through much of it. Good cast of supporting characters. Liked the banter between MC's Piper and Cam. Piper had me chuckling through out. Low angst HEA. Highly recommend this book.

Super cute romance, the kind you'll read when in need of peace and easy. All characters are likeable, IMHO even the ex. There's no villain here except the occasional idiocy of these two dummies making silly decisions hahaha. It felt easy, their chemistry, the building of relationship, all of it, even with everything pointing out to a doomed ending – Piper having to go back to the US and Cam staying with her family. I really liked it and I think picking this one is a no-brainer.
But ngl at some point I wanted to pull my hair and scream so bad at Cam. OMFG, you dimwit, stop pushing Piper away, saying she should do this or that! They both are a bit of pushovers, Cam more so than Piper but nothing extreme. Nonetheless I wish I could've slapped some sense into her, actually both if I'm being honest, but I'm happy I haven't had to and they got their shit together AND their happy ending, they so deserve it.
There's a "coming out/toaster oven" bit here and if I'd know beforehand I probably would've skipped it for a while (it would've been a shame), because I'm a bit saturated with the whole bunch of drama usually brought by the trope. But hear me out you guys, there's none of that stuff here, once Cam realises what her feelings mean to her sexuality, with a nudge of her bestie, it was very simple, we moved on. The conflict came from elsewhere, thank fuck!
Anyway, I think y'all should give this one a try, totally worth it if you like something light, even though I may have made it seems otherwise hahahha.
Now, if you don't want bad spoilers you may want to avoid the next bit, because I may or may not have spilled some.
I love Sienna Waters writing. It always makes me smile and feel good. This story was no different. When Piper found herself jobless, she realized sitting in her unfurnished apartment after her ten year relationship also ended, that something needed to give. A notice received in her mail indicated she inherited a house in another country from a great Aunt she did not know. Piper leaves New York for a change plus a need to see this house in Sutton’s Walk in the UK and evaluate it to sell or rent. Cam is still working on the house even though Lucy up and died. She was hoping the new owner would honor the work contract she had with Lucy and keep her on. She really needed the money. What happens when these two meet is a funny, sweet and enjoyable read. It is a place that this reader would love to visit. The story is a feel good, cozy read that leaves a smile on your face.
My first read of this author and I was tickled pink. The humour was just hillarious for this Gen X Kiwi with the differences between Americans and English eliciting snorts of laughter that startled the cat from time to time. The author's style is so easy to read while also maintaining intelligence and maturity. There was nothing to dislike about the story, the characters are so sweet and, without giving out too many spoilers, the girl definitely gets the girl. I was invested right from the get go and I can't wait to read more from this writer. Two thumbs up (more if I had them).

Although the emotional roller coaster playing out as a backdrop to this book is perhaps a little too under-stated, I liked this new book. Cams family is a lovely foil for her character. The hoard of beefy brothers, who probably do actually love their little sister, and the warmly pictured parents, all give a good depth to the story. Cam and Beth? Well, who knows? A whole lot of questions might be answered about about Cam’s “different “ younger brother, too! As for Piper……. truly our star performer! I loved it, thank you, Sienna Waters.

Is it very heartwarming love story. Piper has lost her job, her girlfriend and doesn’t know what to do. She inherited a house from a great aunt she never knew. I found the plot very good and the character is very heartwarming. Piper and Kim met at the house piper and her to and from there it begins and exciting and drama filled love life. I like the Italian family in England and the loving caring that they all show each other. I recommend this book for all who like a really sweet love story.
I loved this book! It's beautifully written (and edited), with interesting, highly relatable characters, and a dramatic story arc that held my interest all the way through. I found the in-depth descriptions of the emotional journeys of both protagonists to be fascinating and illuminating, and the intensity of these emotions to be powerful and engaging.
Sienna Waters just seems to be getting better and better. I can't wait for her next release!
A very beautiful story, very romantic and very well written. It make me smile and cry as it is a very enjoyable book. Beautifully described characters, realistic dialogues, so many emotions and feelings, plus a fantastic happy ending. Excellent and so enjoyable book
Really enjoyed reading this, was just sweet and the characters were well and fleshed out, I wouldn’t have forgave cheating from an ex anytime soon though that’s my only criticism- also I feel like Americans don’t find it that hard to understand Englishisms but also I’m English so who knows! But loved this
I enjoyed reading this. I can imagine seeing what happens and the way Piper and Cam meet. It would be a big "OMG!!" moment to watch. Lol!! I'm not saying where so there's no spoiler, but a seat should probably be reserved for Piper. One more thing. Is it actually true about the dishwasher? Just joking.
This was the best one that I have read by Sienna Waters by far!... It was funny and she kept me entertained throughout the whole book! Well done, Sienna...Well done!
This book is a rom-com movie distilled. It's not especially comedic, but it manages to hit the same beats. It's perfect for a cozy afternoon. And what's better than imagining leaving the US for the UK? Nothing. If I won the lottery I would leave for a coastal town, buy a small cottage, and raise sheep.
The town is adorable - the cast equally so. And I've watched so much British television I thought the dialogue was exceptional. I can hear the accent oozing off the page. Arthur is a trope and I'm here for him. He's exactly the kind of neighbor you want if you have ever considered moving to the UK. He's nosy but familial.
I especially appreciate the way love is discussed throughout this story - not just between the central protagonists but side characters as well. As a hopeless romantic this felt like a genuine interpretation of love rather than something overly saccharine. And the message is one I'm very familiar with. Love gives life meaning. A job can't hold you at night.
My chief complaint is that its a bit on the short side. I felt like the characters never had a chance to revel in their new found love before they were thrust into existential turmoil. I wish I had a better idea of what their relationship would be like on any given day. But they're either occupied with the project they're trying to complete or visiting with neighbors. They never really stop long enough to be able to have the, "So this is what my life would be like if I woke up next to her every day" epiphany. This book would have been much stronger if we saw how these characters made each other better people.
Still, it's a very cozy read. It's not going to upend anyone's world with revelation, but I'll definitely read the second in the series.
I enjoyed the characters Sienna Waters has developed for this sweet romance. Piper and Cam are at very different places in life: Piper’s an unemployed, heartbroken Yank visiting the small village of Sutton’s Walk in England, there to claim, renovate, and sell the house an unknown aunt has bequeathed to her; and Cam is the sister to six boisterous brothers, all the English offspring of Italian immigrant parents. Cam was born, raised and will likely take her last breath in her beloved village, which she only wishes had better job prospects for a self-employed building contractor.
Each woman has a true-blue best friend, and they share taking care of Piper’s irascible nonagenarian neighbor and Billy, the Great Dane Piper inherited with the house.
Piper and Cam’s meet cute occurs when the duck-chasing Billy drags Piper into the pond and Cam drags her out of it by her collar. It’s the first glimpse we get of Cam’s altruism and Piper’s accident proneness, which sets the pair up for a few stopovers at the National Health Service.
Waters offers a relatively uncluttered storyline for lovable the couple — there isn’t a fake relationship, yawning age gap, or long-lost love to be sorted. It’s just an endearing, sincere love story.
It’s not a long book but it packs a lot in. The main characters Cam and Piper are both lovely. They are well developed and totally believable so rooting for them was easy. I also like all the surrounding characters particularly Arthur the old man next door. The British American confusions amused me and was good to have those as part of the story rather than a US author not getting Britishness correct for their characters. Pet peeve for me where supposedly UK characters use US words and totally pull me out of the story. This book was not like that at all I was totally invested in their journey. As all her books are this was an uncomplicated (but I don’t mean boring) and fun read that had a bit of jeopardy but not dragged out too much and all wrapped up with a lovely happy ending. Reading this was like getting a comfortable hug from a friend and I recommend it.
