The Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club: Luca

Rate this book
Foxxxy Golden Rule: Foxxxy is family.

When Luca’s life in Boston falls apart, he must leave behind his home, his job, and his chosen family—the feisty dancers of the Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club. But his trip takes an unexpected turn when a blizzard careens him off the road and into the home of David, a Canadian silver fox who is every one of Luca’s lumberjack fantasies come to life.

It’s been three years since David’s divorce, and while he’s content with his remote, rural life, he feels there’s something missing. He doesn’t know what that something is until a captivating, young dancer crashes his car outside his cabin in the middle of a snowstorm and reminds David that there is more to life than simply existing.

Neither Luca nor David planned for this detour, but they only have to survive two days together in close quarters. How hard could it be? It’s not like forty-eight hours is long enough to fall in love. Or is it?

Discover how Luca and his sexy Canuck, David, met in this 40k word prequel novella to the Foxxxy series.

I always enjoy a forced proximity romance with a hearty age gap, and Nikole Knight nails it with Luca. I see this is the prequel to The Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club novels, but it totally stands alone. Luca is a nice set up for the rest of the books in the series.

I totally loved the narrator, John York. He has a pleasant accent, and came up with great voices for each of the characters. I did a quick search on Audible, and he's got a whole bunch of books to his credit, but he's definitely new to me. And I hope to hear many more audiobooks performed by him soon!

If you’re looking for a precious sexy romance, it is right here.

Luca is running back to his family, after a bad break up he wants to recuperate. On his way, through Canada, he has an accident in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere. Luckily David lives nearby in a cabin and saves him.

Saves, warmed, and taken care of by the hot lumberjack, Luca is Luca and still a flirt, David appreciates his humor, he is smitten by Luca.

“No, he wasn’t attractive—he was beautiful.”

David is the kindest and gentlest guy Luca met, and the hottest silver fox. With forty-three he’s much older than Luca’s twenty-seven, but they just click.
In no time there’s a sweet tension building between them. Why fight it? It’s just until the snow blizzard is gone and Luca will be on his way.
David finds himself a lonely sucker who gave too easily and loved too quickly. (his words not mine)
Luca was everything he desired, if only he could stay.

Luca is a delight, he’s vulnerable, sassy and his mouth runs over.

“Sorry, apparently, I can’t multitask.” If you understand the circumstances, lol!

What happened between those cabin walls is something special and sweet, super intense and passionate. They worshipped each other. It was a pleasure to watch them.

A wonderfully written, captivating story, I enjoyed reading. A short story about an instant love affair. Luca’s thoughts about the Foxxxy crew and the short interactions with them, were, for me, a bit distracting, I didn’t need them. I was satisfied with the story about David and Luca and needed nothing else.
Overall a sweet, sexy story with intense interactions, and a hea!

This was super cute and I really liked seeing Lucas story. This is technically a prequel to the series and I don't know if it would work as a prequel. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense but I don't know that there was enough information on the Foxxxy club to really like get people interested in it and it worked because I've already read the other two books. So while this technically takes place before the two books in the series I would recommend reading it after.

So it pretty much reads like every single book about a character who gets lost in a snowstorm and ends up at a hunky lumberjacks cabin in the woods vibe. They're snowed in and they can't go anywhere because the tow trucks aren't coming and blah blah blah but it was still really good and I did like it.

This was a really cute novella by a new to me author. It was a great low angst story with great characters. The writing flowed well, and I enjoyed reading it. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series now.

While I appreciated a little more background on Luca, whom we met in Christian’s book, I didn’t feel this story added much to the Foxxxy world. We already knew what would happen with Luca, if you remembered the first few chapters of Christian, but this novella adds more context.

It’s a cute read with a very sassy young man and a swoony, reclusive, slightly older man who meet in a very almost impossible way, and quickly find they have chemistry and an almost overwhelming desire for more.

Luca and David's romance was such a treat to read. I'm a sucker for a good "trapped in the snow together" story, and I thought this one had a nice balance of sweetness and steam. David won me over right away when he hustled to rescue Luca from his crashed car, and his fumbling awkwardness in the face of Luca's flirting was particularly adorable. Their stay in the cabin took a heated turn fairly quickly, but not in a way that felt rushed or uncomfortable. I was actually surprised by how much the two of them talked and got to know each other before giving into their attraction, and it was worth it for the added emotional charge to their hookups. I genuinely believed in the deeper feelings Luca and David had for each other after only a couple of days because it felt like they'd known each other so much longer. What started as a rescue mission turned into a cozy honeymoon away from the rest of the world, and I was sad to see the storm pass and know they'd have to either say goodbye or take a huge leap of faith. I thought the ending to their story was satisfying, but I wish I'd gotten to see more of how David and Luca made their relationship work post-honeymoon stage.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Story: 3.5⭐️
Audio: 4⭐️

Luca lost everything when his long-time boyfriend broke up with him—their apartment, his money and his self-respect; thus, he decides to return home to Michigan to lick his wounds and reset. When he wrecks his car during a snowstorm while crossing Ontario, he is saved by a hunky Canadian paramedic named David and brought back to his cabin to wait for the storm to pass. Although David loves his isolated cabin, he’s a man built for companionship and with his best friend and ex-wife happily remarried and expecting; his daughter away at college; and dating harder than he remembered, David is a bit lonely. However, loneliness alone can’t explain is instant draw to Luca and though Luca finds David equally compelling, he’s not in a good place emotionally and can’t imagine someone like David wanting a future with him.

Having read the first two Foxxxy books, I was interested to see how Luca met his Canadian lumberjack since the character kept being mentioned, and while David is a sweetheart and the two have great chemistry, honestly, I feel like I could take or leave this prequel as it doesn’t add much to the character or the info given in the other books. Had I just stumbled upon it, I would have liked it well enough as a typical snowed-in rormance but probably would not have felt compelled to try the series unless I was looking for books about dancers in a club bc there's not much about Foxxxy there except for a quick rundown of the employees. Moreover, it reads like a prequel written after the main series as had I not read Christian’s book and seen how important Luca was to Christian, I would not feel much connection between Luca and his Foxxxy family as the story starts with Luca having already left Boston so his entire history at Foxxxy has already happened.

While it plays out like most forced proximity romances, it’s still a nice getting together story with likeable characters. David is kind, giving and open and Luca is a nice enough guy although he doesn’t get much character development outside of why he’s fleeing Boston and how bad he feels about himself at the moment. As it’s on KU, I think those who enjoyed the series, love snowed in and age gap stories will enjoy this on.

As for the narration, John York does a good job. The pacing is good, the character voices distinct and his delivery fits the tone of the book. The one thing I found irritating is David’s Canadian Accent™—despite the country being huge, they all sound the same with the long oo sound on certain words. He’s at least mostly consistent with it so it wasn’t as distracting and irritating as it usually is. Given he sounds like a ‘standard’ North American English speaker, most ppl probably won’t care.

A Delightfully Heartfelt Foxxxy Story & Listen🎧

The Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club: Luca
A Foxxxy Prequel Novella
By: Nikole Knight
Narrated by: John York

I absolutely loved the first book in this series “The Foxxxy Gentleman’s Club: Christian” and I was so happy to hear another book from the series is available on audio too. Nikole Knight created something special with this series, the characters are amazing and so is the camaraderie amongst the Foxxxy family. This book is Luca and David’s story and shows how they met and became a couple. After a breakup with his boyfriend of five years, Luca was broke and without a place to life, so he left Boston and his Foxxxy family behind and headed back home to Michigan, except his GPS had other plans for him, taking him to Canada and in the middle of nowhere and to make matters worse he gets caught in a snowstorm and skids off the road avoiding something in the road. David live a quiet life away from the world, he likes it where he is but feels like something is missing and when he rescues the young man from his car that landed in a snowbank, he knows exactly what he was missing, him. Luca was happy to be rescued and his rescuer was not only easy on the eyes but kind and caring, too. The chemistry between them is undeniable and stranded with nowhere to go, they could only deny each other for so long. I loved how everything played out in this book, the story is wonderfully plotted with the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt emotions and a charming and steamy romance. Nikole Knight, thank you for another entertaining story and emotional rollercoaster ride. I am loving these foxxxy dancers!

🎧📚🎧And for the wonderful narration, John York continues to do an amazing job bringing these characters and their story to life. He has a complete understanding of the characters he is portraying, gives each a voice that suited that character’s persona to the tee sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. You could hear how much heart he put into his work as he captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance. John York is an entertaining storyteller and a versatile voice artist, his narration enhances this amazing story another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

I missed this novella when it was released in a giveaway so I'm really glad that Nikole has released it as a prequel as Luca and David are together when we meet them in book one.
Considering the length of the book, Nikole has packed quite a lot in and I felt like we get to know the characters really well. Luca is escaping the end of a bad relationship and no prospects so is driving home to his parents. David is basically living as a recluse in his remote cabin in Canada several years after the mutual end of his marriage but doesn't enjoy living so far from his daughter.
Unfortunately, Luca isn't really conscious for their 'meet cute' moment as he is fairly out of it after crashing his car in a snowstorm, luckily right outside of David's cabin. Cabin being the ex paramedic and good man that he is, rushes out to help. Their attraction is instant, or from the moment the danger has passed and it becomes a forced proximity romance as there's no way anyone is coming out to rescue Luca when he's safely sheltered from the storm. They are quickly drawn to each other - David's strength and care, and Luca's goodness and charm. They are also insanely hot together, making the most of the time they have together but it's also enough time for hearts to get involved. Love the way that things unfold between them and their HEA. An easy introduction into the Foxxxy world.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
Audio - John York's narration is brilliant for these characters and their story. Though he only has a small part in this book, Christian's voice is by far my favourite, all of the voices he provides are great. I love the accents, especially David's Canadian. He truly brings this short story to life and all of the excitement that David and Luca share.

Great Prequel (an audio review)

I loved Christian’s story, so I enjoyed going back in time to before he got his HEA to meet Luca. Luca’s had a rough go. He’s been dumped and, given his financial situation, it makes sense to retrench in his home in Michigan. His winter journey takes him through Canada, and somehow he winds up lost in the backwoods of Ontario. Cue the snowstorm, the snowbank, and the rescue.

Quickly – as a Canadian – I have to say the distances were off and the visibility was wonky.

Luca winds up being rescued by David, a lumberjack. David’s given up modern conveniences for living in the back county. He chops wood, shoots game, and heads into the city periodically to see his daughter who is in university. Basically, he’s happy. Then some Bostonian transplant winds up on his doorstep and suddenly he’s thinking of doing interesting things with his interloper. But Luca’s a guest. So jumping his bones would be rude, right? Except if it’s what Luca wants and he complies, then he’s just being a good host, right?

It's all so confusing. And it doesn’t help that Luca is firmly an American city boy and David is firmly a Canadian living in the back country. No possibility of a happily ever after for them, right?

Well, you’ll just have to listen to find out. Speaking of listening, John York does a great job of narrating this series and his Bostonian Christian is adorable. He did okay with the Canadian as well. I enjoyed this and can’t wait for the next book.

This book is such a beautiful start to this incredible series! It is short, sweet, sexy and intriguing. Luca is running back to his family after a bad break up. On his way home he has an accident in a blizzard in front of David’s house. David is kind and gracious enough to to take Luca in and let him ride out the storm. David takes Luca him, gets him warm and takes care of him. Luca is so relieved to have someone taking care of him, he is drawn to David’s kindness and gentleness. David is absolutely smitten with Luca. They spend 2 days together in the cabin riding out the storm and even though it is a short time Luca’s heart begins to mend and he finds himself falling for David. This is such a sweet and beautiful romance and I absolutely loved reading it! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a short, sweet, sexy read!

This is the first book I’ve read by Nikole Knight and I absolutely loved it. Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes abc I think it was done really well here.

After going through a really bad break up Luca decides to move from Boston back home to Michigan. He knows he’ll kiss his found family at the Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club but he feels like the only place he can really go is home to his family. To save time on the trip he decides to take a shorter route through Canada. Unfortunately he gets caught in a blizzard and crashes his car badly. Luckily though, David sees the crashed car through his window and goes out and saves Luca. Not only is Luca’s car not going anywhere, the storm is so bad no can get through to pick up Luca either.

When they are forced to spend time together in David’s cabin they start to realize that they just might be perfect for each other. This story is really sweet and I absolutely loved the way Luca & David balanced each other out.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

This prequel is a wonderful introduction to the world Nikole Knight has created. We get to meet Christian through Luca’s eyes, setting readers up for the previously released book 1.

But Luca and David’s story is more than the back-drop to world-building. It is strong enough to stand on it’s own.

Forced proximity, instalove and a little bit of a Canadian hero in David (he did, after all, rescue Luca from a blizzard) makes this a delicious read.

Full disclosure: prior to reading this prequel, I’d only read book 2 (Angel) but wasn’t lost at all. The continuity is good but characters are gently reintroduced in case you haven’t read others in the series.

As a Canadian, my only hang-up was David immediately assessing Niko in metric. We don’t typically do that! But I’ll give him a break cuz he’s a former paramedic — maybe he really can assess height and weight in metric, but those are two things the average layperson uses imperial for. Very minor detail but it made me giggle.

My only other negative is the epilogue felt rushed. Otherwise, an enjoyable read for sure.

Luca and his lumberjack

Luca, life takes a dramatic turn for the worst and he decides to head home, back to his parents. Rightfully or wrongfully he made the decision and started the long drive, through a snow storm.

David sees lights and sighs out loud about idiots driving in this weather, then they disappeared, seconds later he sees orange hazard lights flashing and runs out into the blizzard.

I loved how this story developed, and the characters are well written. There are funny parts and also bits that frustrate you: hot sex and childish flirting, a good balance. All made better by excellent narration from John York, however, like usual I did speed it up to 1.20 on audible.

🎧Audiobook Review🎧
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Performance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have read a few books by author Nikole Knight, but this is my first in The Foxxxy Gentlemen's Club series.
When Luca goes home to his parents after breaking up with his boyfriend, the end of the line for him is nowhere in Canada. He crashes his car in a snowstorm. Luckily, David comes to his rescue and takes him back to his cabin.

I found both characters very sympathetic and I liked how the story developed. It was realistic to me and despite the shortness of the book, the author got the emotions across well. And despite the age difference, these two were pretty hot.
Once started with the audiobook, I had listened through it very quickly. The story was short, but compelling and very entertaining. I wouldn't have minded if the story had been longer.

John York was new to me and it was a pleasure to listen to his pleasant voice. His narration was brilliant. He did a great job portraying each character and I look forward to listening to more audiobooks with John York.

I’ve already read a couple of stories from this series so I’ve had it on my watch list. So far I’ve loved this series and this added to it. This is the prequel novella. I wish it had been longer because I enjoyed reading about these two characters. It’s not quite an insta love story but it sure is an insta attraction. Luca is a little too gullible and having broke up with his partner is in a hurry to get away. His ex had completely taken advantage of him. The problem is Luca didn’t really use common sense and ended up stranded in a snow storm.
David saves Luca and even though there is that attraction, David fears an age gap relationship is not fair to Luca.
I wish this had been a little longer. I wanted Luca to get revenge. I did enjoy the story and am happy some of the other Foxxxy characters are a part of it. I’ll always favor Chrissy and his character is so lovable and protective that his appearance here fit perfectly. I’m anxious for the next in the series

Narration = 5 stars

This was a new to me author but I absolutely loved it. It was sweet and sexy, with fabulous characters and interesting plot that made me not want to stop listening. I will gladly continue this series. All the friends seem like a great group. It was kind of instalove but I didn't even care. it was a great listen. Also, as a Canadian I found the Canadian references hilarious.

The narrator did a great job. His voice was pleasant to listen to and he expressed all the emotions great. He did different voices for each of the characters that seemed to suit them. He managed to sound like a femme twenty year old and then also managed to do a pretty convincing older tone voice. Some of the accents of the side characters may not have been perfect but this was a great listen.

This was a fun, fluffy and sweet read and I really enjoyed it.

I loved the stranded with a stranger, hurt/comfort and age gap parts of this story. Something that really stood out to me was David’s description of Luca when he first brings him inside his home, that he wasn’t conventionally beautiful but that all of his awkward parts fit together perfectly. I really like the idea that Luca has made his living by being an exotic dancer for the last 7 years, but isn’t described as drop dead gorgeous and perfect.

The banter was fun, and I didn’t feel like the story was rushed even though this was originally a novella. It was quick and sweet, and definitely made me smile. 4/5 🌟 and currently adding the rest of the series to my TBR!

Lots of recognizable and fun tropes to be found here: a snowed-in, age-gap, Canadian/American love story with plenty of heat, sweetness, and sincerity. Luca is lovely: confident, caring, and more resilient than he thinks he is, but David is hands down the best part of this story. He’s kind, he’s competent, he’s devastatingly sincere and deeply, intrinsically generous. From the start, they fit together: there’s laughter and honesty and a kind of fated intensity that only grows the more time they spend together. It broke my heart when I thought they might be over before they got the chance to start, so the happily-ever-after teased in the epilogue was exactly what I wanted and needed for them both. An enjoyable read.

Wat a difference a day makes. David was in a reflective mood contemplating his relationship with Cassie, his ex wife and his daughter Krista. He, was prepared for the storm out in the boonies. He noticed car lights driving erratically, and rescued Luca and brought him to his cabin. Stranded in a snowstorm after car trouble, makes for a good relationship opportunity. The stress, relaxed everyone and make it easy to reach out. Surviving the storm brings out the best in each man. After the storm, will they continue the relationship? Will there be any regrets? Does David's age matter? Author, gaves us some absolutely remarkable, fun, lovable men. The story flow leads us through some good sexy times. Excellent story. Well done! Fun addition to this series

I love how different each book in this series by Nikole Knight is. This one is even more different because Luca has left the club behind and then crashes his car during a blizzard and meets David who embodies all of Luca’s lumberjack fantasies. This book is listed as a novella but it’s as long as quite a few supposedly full length books that I have read lately. This gives Ms. Knight time to tell us a fun tale and establish the history and future of these two men. One of the things that I really liked is that while David may be a silver fox, he is not a sugar daddy because he is just a regular sort of person and not a millionaire which has become rather cliché. I love this whole series.

“But I was going to ensure he never forgot me…We had today. We had this time. We had this room. And we would not be forgotten.” Wow, that was profound, Luca’s interior thoughts as he made love with David for the first and perhaps, last, time. The entire scene was so very well written. They did have sex again at a later time and that was one of the best sex scenes I’ve read. The writing was visceral with deep emotion from David’s POV as he watched and loved with Luca. Their eyes never looked away from each other. It was intense and was great to read. Kudos to the author. I’m giving five stars for these scenes, that are within a good romance book. The ending was very nice!

Another instalment of the foxxxy gentleman’s club series, but this was not set in the club at all.
Luca used to be a dancer at the club but left to be with his boyfriend Timothy. Unfortunately once Timothy had bled him dry of cash he turfed Luca out of their home. With nowhere else to go, Luca heads to his parents house. With his bad luck winning, Luca ends up driving through a blizzard, crashing while trying to avoid an animal and banging his head. Then his luck changed when David rescued him. Being snowed in with David is the best thing to happen to Luca.

Luca is just recently single and escaping back home to heal. When he crashes his car he is saved by a handsome Canadian silver fox. David used to be a paramedic and when he sees a car crash into a ditch in the middle of a snow storm he jumps into action. These two spend the next few days getting to know each other while stuck inside due to the storm. Despite the bitter cold outside things heat up inside between these two but they both hold back because they don’t think anything can come of it. This was a cute read that I thought was nice. I thought the book was super sweet but just didn’t wow me. The storyline was fun and these two were cute together.

Audiobook Review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 5
Story – 5

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this.

Luca is the first book I’ve read by Nikole Knight and the first audiobook I’ve listened to by John York. This was a quick story to listen to; just right for passing the time while doing my laundry. 😊 Luca and David are great together and their story was really sexy. I liked John York’s performance and the different voices he used for each character. I will be looking for more books by Nikole Knight and more audiobooks performed by John York.

Cheeto powder for the win!

This is a new to me author but not a new to me narrator.

This is the prequel to a series that has tons of potential. I plan to read the rest of the series, now that I've gotten a taste by listening to the prequel.

David, 43 year old silver fox, bisexual, father, best friends with x-wife

Luca, former exotic dancer and escort at Foxxxy's, gay, recently dumped by long term boyfriend, currently unemployed

Light, fluffy, low angst listen.

Canadian Mountie porn??? International gang bang??? Canadian lumberjack??? Yes please 🤣. Gotta love Luca. Can't wait to read Christian's book, he seems like quite the character.

I really enjoyed this book. Luca finds himself stuck in the snow after having a car accident as he leaves his life behind. David sees this and rushes out to help. This is just a fun book. Though there is a definite age gap Luca can't help but have dreamy fantasies about his rescuer especially with them being stuck in David's cabin until the roads clear. I enjoyed Luca and David together. I this a great way to start this series but this book can be enjoyed on its own as well.
Narrator John York does an amazing job. I loved how he did David's voice and really brought out him being Canadian. Well done.

I enjoyed reading the prequel to Luca and David's romance. Luca just broke up with the man he thought he was going to be with the rest of his life after sinking all of his money into his business. He's caught in a blizzard on his way home and David saves him. David is sweet, shy, and is clearly attracted to Luca the moment he sees him. These two are in close proximity during the blizzard and they get to know one another. The book is sweet and romantic, May/December and their sexy times are hot.
