There's a thief afoot, stealing the guardian artifacts of the mystic races – The seven sins. As one of the last Seers, Nathan Masterson is struggling to fit into his new role as an Organization Detective. He and his Partner Leigh Vashti are charged with recovering the the sins and apprehending the culprit, while at the same time pursuing a potential lead into the genocide of the Seer Clan. Along with a new partner who has a bad attitude and a mysterious ability to back it up, they're on the case. But something's amiss, and the culprit may hit closer to home than either of the detectives may think. All sides are in opposition, but there's definitely something that even the blind can see. Sometimes the truth is more cruel than we bargain for, especially when you can't see it coming. Death plots in the shadows.
How good is your Sight?
This book is a thriller told in verse.
Action, emotion and suspense - All wrapped in one uniquely written package!
It's a guarantee, you've never read a book quite like this!
An Author & Autism Advocate, Patrick considers himself a Story Teller not a Writer.
Having Asperger's Syndrome as well as Tourettes doesn't slow Patrick down in the slightest. His work ethic and positive attitude are infectious according to those in his life. His positivity can especially be seen in his writing; despite using heavier subjects in his books, he addresses them with a light that's rarely found in fiction these days, resulting in a profound balance of entertaining and thought provoking content that tugs at the heart strings.
His various books are written in a curious, yet engaging style that is difficult to put down. Patrick's vision is to turn the idea of the traditional verse novel on it's head & to break new ground, creating something uniquely delicious, all it's own.
The story picks up where Frost left off. On the hunt for stolen magical artifacts that could doom the world. The humor's been upped to 11, but that doesn't take anything away from the weight of the story. It honestly just makes it all that more enjoyable. Poetry is once again the vehicle of the story, but like a car with heated seats, it's a totally comfy ride the whole way through. The cliffhanger ending, has me impatiently waiting for book 3. All in all this is a series that should not be missed.
The second installment to Patrick D. Kaiser’s fairytale retelling. It’s a rollercoaster of a ride so pay attention and hang on tight! Witty banter between the characters made me giggle the whole way through.
Sight is the second book in Patrick Kasier's Death Bringer Chronicle series. Sight follows Nathan Masterson on a journey to find mystical objects called sins. With each sin, Nathan and his friends travel to new worlds. The reader gets a glimpse into new creatures and the inner workings of the Organization Nathan is now apart of. Book two continues with the same humor and easy flow as book one. If you are looking for an easy read with light and fun humor, then you have found the right book. Do not let the term verse novel or poetry scare you away. The novel flows well and is easy to understand. I would recommend for any youth in middle school or higher or anyone that loves to read fiction fantasy/thrillers.
A great follow up to Frost! The prose and writing are stronger - The characters and the world get even more interesting! Execution of the story is slightly underwhelming compared to book one. But I still thoroughly enjoyed it regardless. When does book 3 come out?
A slight downgrade from book one, but still fantastic nonetheless. Speedy, and action packed with well defined characters, and a world unlike any other. Bring on book 3!
Once again, Patrick Kaiser takes us back into the Death-Bringer Chronicles, introducing us to more magic than we can imagine. This time, I picked up this book as an audiobook, and I will be the first to admit that these verse thrillers are AMAZING in audio form. They capture the right beat, and with the right voice, they really shine!
We really do get to explore more of Nathan's demons in this book - from how Jack's death haunts him, to his relationship with his partner Leigh. The beats of the verse novel shine in his altercations with Death as well. In all honesty, it's beautifully done - by both the author and the narrator.
The only reason I knock the story down by 0.25 is due to the ending. I personally am not a big fan of endings where the character To me it seems a little unrealistic, and I had a hard time suspending disbelief in that moment.
But overall, Patrick Kaiser does a fantastic job captivating his audience with his verse novels...and I can't wait to see where he takes it next!
