Rate this book
The first Book of Battleaxe!

A sorceress with a metal arm and a barbarian with a battleaxe journeying across impossible, changing realms.

Helesys is cunning, driven-and trapped. Her only ally is a towering barbarian who's as cold as his blade. Together, they'll have to survive impossible realms and find their memories in the process.

As her powers come back, Helesys feels confident that the two of them will make it out or die trying... But even death might not be an escape.

If you like gritty fantasy, awe-inspiring realms, larger-than-life characters, vicious monsters and eldritch horrors-then you're in the right place.

Episode 1-5: The first fateful realms. A flooded temple, ransacked barracks, mysterious forest, a buried hive, and a wizard's tower. They'll stop at nothing to find out the truth about their memories and about the strange world they're trapped in.

Come for the adventure. Stay for the mystery. Escape the dungeon. Find yourself.

Samuel Fleming is a Science Fiction and Fantasy author.
He grew up in Maryland, spending most of his time swimming and writing. The thing about swimming is that it gives you a lot of time to daydream, so the two hobbies complemented each other well. Idle dray dreams turned into stories, some of which stuck with him for years. These days he swims a little less and writes a lot more.
He loves a good story no matter the medium: Books, TV, video games, comics, tabletop RPG’s, or podcasts–most of which he attempts to share with his wife and three kids, and occasionally on his blog.

I really liked this series! It's full of pretty standard fantasy tropes: a sorceress, a barbarian, monsters to fight, dungeons to escape, but the episodic structure makes it feel fresh. Without any LitRPG form, it feels very much like a D&D campaign, every episode its own session linked together into one broader campaign. It's a fun way to enjoy a story!
