A demigod princess stumbles upon a shocking discovery: a magic-powered machine with enough heart to become her little sister, and enough power to destroy her world.
Cass, the hot-headed “Lightning Princess” of a hidden magical city and granddaughter of Zeus, spends her days arguing with her father and sneaking out of the prison she calls “home.” That all changes when her treasure-hunting best friend invites her on a secret expedition to a faraway island.
By chance or by fate, Cass unseals an ancient ruin and meets Gally—a life-like machine straight out of the pages of Greek myths. Why was she kept down there, and why could Cass open the seal?
To find answers, Cass takes her new “sister” to the prestigious—and totally unsafe—Solomon Academy of Magic. Student population: angels, demons, shifters, dragons, and a handsome jerk who won’t leave her alone.
Cass will need to deal with classes, exams, boys (ewww), and death-defying adventures at school and beyond if she hopes to unravel the mysteries behind Gally…and herself.
But those answers may place her, the academy, and the world in far greater danger than she could have possibly imagined...
Suit up in your academy uniform. She's going to take the class by storm...

M.C. Waring loves action-packed roller-coaster rides through all kinds of fantasy, science fiction, paranormal romance, adventure, and mystery stories. Their books contain epic battles, high adventure, and romantic entanglements across a sweeping universe of diverse genres.
Like the gods and monsters they write about, Arita might just be a creature of myth.
This is a very hapahazard story with adults being completely idiotic at a death academy.
Very chaotic story telling while I loved gally the automotan sister - the lightning princess is very reckless at best - although she is a kid so I can forgive that but what kind of father sends a 12 year old to a death academy.
Sorry this academy teaches nothing but vengeance and being victimized.
Disappointing ending too…I can say more without spoilers but the help message and twist at the end was not well thought out it felt like a cartoon villain ha ha Pandora’s box has been opened.
Recently listened to the audiobook, and I do like the way MC Waring has built a whole world for her various book series to interlink. That way at least jumping from one series to the next is not confusing. The Lightening Princess did start out very slow, and introduced many characters that were irrelevant to this story, but are likely building blocks to the series. However, I was happy I stayed with it until the end, but now I’m left with so many questions after the cliffhanger ending, and can’t wait to hear more. Definitely recommend for a younger audience too
A fun fantasy of a rebellious princess. A good group of characters, some who try to be her voice of reason, but also tend to be as curious as she is. I enjoyed listening to the narrator who also help bring the characters to life. I was given a copy in exchange for a review.
Interesting novel. Seems oriented to a younger demographic than my 68 year old self. Lots of action, mysteries left unsolved for future novels. Reminiscent of Hogswart and Yancy in parts but different. I suspect some of my questions won't be addressed but we will see.
